Pros: "Our plane was delayed on the tarmac in Melbourne and we then missed our connecting flight to Mildura. Virgin could not organize another flight for us so we had to hire a car to drive to Mildura. We then had to cancel our flights Mildura to Melbourne Melbourne to Brisbane because we had to return the hire car to Melbourne. I had to book new flight from Melbourne to Brisbane and was told on Thursday when I cancelled our flights for Sunday that we could not get a refund. Unhappy about the entire experience. We were going to a funeral on Friday and to see my Mother on Saturday who is dying of cancer. We had to cut our stay with my mother short so we could drive 6 hours back to Melbourne to catch our plane on Sunday."

Yet the ticket counter lady made me pay an additional fee and all together I ended paying more for extra bags fee than the ticket itself! both Virgin and JetStar are VERY stingy on extra luggage fees. I came from the US to Australia and traveled domestically while there with all the luggage that I brought from the US. So I had to pay so much in fees when my trip was already so expensive! It makes me reconsider wanting to travel again anywhere anytime soon, so discouraging! Also they make me take stuff out of my big suitcase and transfer to my carry on, in front of everyone at the ticket counter I had to open my suitcase and transfer some stuff so the weight is under a certain weight. Still they charged me for extra luggage. I came international on Qantas from USA to Australia, so all the domestic locations I went to I was charged"

Cons: "Right away we found out my chair was broken, and couldn't recline. Also, we had been placed in the first row of Premium and there are no automatic footrests. The crew has to bring those out. But there weren't any on board the plane at all. And since I'm only 5'2" tall, my feet don't reach the floor, causing blood circulation to be cut off in my legs from the pressure of hanging on the seat. No recline for 12+ hours, and no foot rest = a lot of pain and discomfort. I've been to the doctor twice since arriving home and am still in pain."

It's not hard to have meals without wheat, yet there's never a gluten free option even when there are non-Pasta based dishes such as curries and stir-fries. Gluten intolerance is so common these days so it's unbelievable that Virgin doesn't try to ensure at least one of the dishes doesn't have wheat/gluten. A 5 hour trip to/from Perth to Brisbane is a very long time to have no savoury meals. I never thought I'd say this, being a loyal Virgin flyer; Qantas is looking more appealing as they cater for GF meals Alim domestic flight and have started to improve their customer service."

One of the passengers were not able to travel and ticket was complete lost , where as the inbound flight on Qantas gave us credit for the future. In the end , the total cost ends up close to other airlines with all the discomfort on the flight free."

If you're going to do it, at least give a voucher of some sort or some kind of incentive to choose jeststar again. Extremely poorly thought out procedure."

Since I booked the flight with Kayak, I had trouble paying in advance for bags online and selecting seats via kayak and on Jetstar website after booking in USA. It is not clear on any site that there is a 15kg bag limit and and excess charge beyond that. I even tried adding a bag and seats 24kg prior while in Australia but it wouldn't let me or give me that option. I was told at the Jetstar service desk that I need to contact Kayak/ Jetstar directly via email to file a complaint for this ridiculous bag charge. Its unfortunate that as USA person we are not aware of this poor service airline. My bag was not over limit and there is no justification for this high bag charge. USA airlines only charge high if you are overlimit but Jetstar is ripping people off. if there is anything you can do for me, its greatly appreciated."

When we got to airport and went to check luggage they charged us $900 USD for four normal sized bags, one bag each. Called customer service, waited 25 minutes and then rude agent refused to listen to my concern about this or connect me to anyone that could actually help us. Agents at desk first told me there was no supervisor there I could talk to and then I asked one lady there and she said she was supervisor. I asked if she had another number she could call since I was on hold so long and she flat out lied and said even they have to call that same number I had to get help. She then just walked away and completely ignored me. Not a single person for Jetstar seemed to think $225 per bag was unreasonable or showed any hint of compassion or desire to try and help us. They didn't seem to think it was odd that my bag that weighs 1/4 of what I do cost more to fly then I did. Never fly with them, go with any other carrier. Don't give these greedy and predatory punks a single cent."

We personally confirmed with the security officer that the stove was unused and WITHOUT any fuel. Despite that fact, he bag was left behind and not with us on the flight. We are not sure when it will be delivered and it is disrupting our trip itinerary. We travel all over the world and had never such a problem with a stove. The security action was, to our opinion, extensive."

Apparently if you "wear" your luggage on your body, it's free of charge (but on aggregate, it still adds to weight & balance of the plane). And how this all contributes to fast handling is beyond me. Moronic rules! Of all the great times I had in Australia, JetStar was the only utter disappointment I had to endure! Never again!"

Unlike anything else."
