Pros: "Since I was upgraded to business class for free due to overbooking, there really is nothing I didn’t like! It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience!"
Cons: "The dual headphone jack at my seat designed for use with the provided headsets outputted only a constant clicking noise on the right channel, so I ended up using my own earbuds."
Cons: "More food choices Use real spoon, fork and knife"
Pros: "It was fast."
Cons: "The crew was not at all friendly... In fact they were rude"
Pros: "The seats are cramped. Need more leg room"
Cons: "It only there is somewhere I could rest my foot, then it would have been an enjoyable flight."
Pros: "The crew was very nice, and the movie selection was good."
Cons: "We had to wait for additional passengers after boarding and then again after they came in to take off, so waited an additional 2 hours on the plane (it really adds up on 12+ hour flights). Communication about he delay was mediocre, and the website did not have updated flight info for pickup."
Cons: "Food, be ontime, inflight entertainment"
Pros: "Non-stop flight."
Cons: "About four hours before boarding, the gate assignment was changed from a comfortable gate with plenty of seats for passengers to another gate that was already occupied by another PAL flight that has not even boarded yet. So there were no place to sit down. Food can be so much better, especially the dessert. Crew didn't come across as happy with their job. When I asked for soda water, the serving stewardess didn't tell me that she'll give it later; she just proceeded to push the food cart, so I thought she didn't hear me since she didn't acknowledge my request. The bathroom was filthy!"
Pros: "Entertainment was good... boarding was good."
Cons: "Totally uncomfortable.... big guy had his legs almost on top of mine under the seat in front of me. He was so wide, his shoulders and arms were on top of my chest at some points of the journey. Bigger people should not be able to buy coach seats. They should have size and weight restrictions."
Pros: "Currtious attendants."
Cons: "Dis orderly lines. Too many long lines"
Pros: "Paid a little more for the bulk head seat in economy so had more leg room, however, less storage. Direct flight from SFO to MNL The flight attendant were okay"
Cons: "Boarding process in Manila is confusing as once you go through security they run your bag through again AT THE GATE. I don't think I've experience this at any airport and I've been to many countries. Also, once "corralled" in your assigned gate, there is limited seating. Getting in and out to go to the bathroom or get something to eat is a hassle. PAL international has it's own terminal (2) but all the airport lounges are in 3 or 1, and you have no access to those terminal once your in 2. Finally, the food option at PAL terminal is awful. For a major Philippines airline, I wish they would upgrade their terminal and make it more appealing for international travelers. For these reasons, I would consider flying another airline from US to Manila, e.g. Cathay Pacific, United, etc."
Pros: "Business class from Bangkok to San Francisco was good overall, especially for $1400 one way. Food was not very good for business class, was more in line with JAL, EVA, Korean or ANA econo class but again, for the price, no complaints. Great friendly service, quick boarding. Priority Pass didn't have a lounge in Manila but thankfully, Philippines Air had their own lounge with great food and drinks for 1st Class and Business class ticket holders. Plane from Manila to SFO was older, screen way too far away, not even reachable without getting out of the seat. Business class seats don't quite lay flat but no complaints for the price. Would fly with them again!"
Pros: "First let me say I am a big fan of Philippine airlines. The customer service is outstanding, I am always made to feel very comfortable and the movie selection is great. I would give them a 10/10...if it weren’t for the surprisingly below-average special meal selection....read on..."
Cons: "I have been a gluten-sensitive foodie for 7 years. I am not vegetarian. I still eat sugar, salt, spices, dairy, and fat. I have order a GF special meal for the past 3 or 4 trips I’ve flown but I always end up asking for one of the regular meals instead because the GF meals are SO awful. They are completely devoid of all salt, sauces, spices or any flavor, and are so bland that it’s like eating astronaut cardboard food. For example...the last flight I took (Manila-San Francisco), the regular meal options were a chicken sausage dish with some mashed potatoes and veggies, a wonderful colorful julienne vegetable salad, a flan pudding (GF by nature) and some bread with butter. The other option was a delicious smelling pork belly over rice (seriously some of the best pork belly I’ve ever had) and some veggies with the same sides. Everything was gluten-free except for the bread roll and looked much more colorful and fresher overall. By contrast, the GF “special” meal that I received was a plain chicken breast with no salt, steamed veggies that were overcooked and mushy to the point of colorless baby food, with no spices or sauces, a watered-down fruit salad, a rice cake with no butter and a banana instead of dessert. I was amazed at how bland and flavorless it was. Gluten-free does not mean sugar-free, low-fat, or dairy free. It simply means the absence of wheat flour. I still like sauces and spices. And I still like butter. A non-fruit dessert would have been nice. And since when does gluten-free mean flavor-free? I would have MUCH rather preferred the regular meal option with just a gluten-free rice cake substitute. Thank god they had extra regular meals for me to eat instead. Point being…if you’re not extreme celiac and just gluten-sensitive, I recommend ordering off the regular menu and just omitting the bread roll. The flavorless meal isn’t worth it!"
Cons: "Broken entertainment acreens. Mine was broken on the way over and on the way back I had a another broken one , they moved me and that one was broken too."
Cons: "The flight attendant that was helping in my side was really not feeling like she wanted to work that day. No smiling. No interaction with the passengers. Just wanted everything done right away. She had the look of not wanting to be there period."
Cons: "My luggage was opened and my items inside were opened too. Chocolates and personal letter"
Pros: "The service is good"
Pros: "early arrival"
Cons: "to many security check in art Airport."
Pros: "Individual entertainment at each seat, the more leg space vs the Airbus."
Cons: "Called for assistance and was ignored 3 times. No one ever came to help. Flagged down an attendant and asked for water but never got a glass. Had to get up and go to the kitchen area to find someone to help me."
Pros: "Great service, lots of movies to watch with free headsets provided, seats reclined even in the economy seats, and flight was fast and smooth"
Cons: "Un-organized boarding with late gate change"
Pros: "Attendance was excellent"
Cons: "None to complain to"
Pros: "Smooth flight, the fact that I lucked out and didn’t have any seat mate"
Cons: "Baggage claim delays, same gate being used by other flights, USB not working for charging phone"
Pros: "the first time a strong turbulence happened, people were screaming and started praying. The pilot got on the speaker and assured the passengers that the plane is ok and able to handle any turbulence. He spoke in a very calm voice and I think it also calmed most of the passengers. I went back to sleep."
Pros: "Service by the cabin crew was excellent."
Cons: "Seats were not that comfortable. The myPAL app would not connect to their WiFi although the wifi was working. I"
Pros: "Seat 31A"
Pros: "Flight crew services are good"
Cons: "Screen too far from seat in business class."
Cons: "Being cramped for 14 hours, you need to provide seating for people over 6 feet tall"
Pros: "everything was perfect"
Pros: "Nice Economy ammenities-- new and responsive touch screens, small flight comfort items in a pouch, Filipino food options Attentive staff"
Cons: "Boarding in the Philippines was a litte confusing because the surrounding area was noisy and no one could hear who was supposed to board"
Pros: "on time."
Cons: "seat spacing/legroom too small. food sucks."
Pros: "Service was good"
Pros: "The prompt boarding and courteous staff."
Cons: "Flight was delayed. At least this time they sent me a notification via email. On the flight from SFO to Manila, the flight was cancelled and we had to be reaccommodated the next day and I wasn't even notified that that was going to happen."
Cons: "It was several hours delayed, they finally boarded us, then told us they were closing the airport. They kept us on the place for another 2.5 hours while they were trying to figure out what to do. By time they let us off the plane it was 3:30 AM. Took another 2.5 hours to get our baggage back and another 1.5 hours to get the flight refunded. I travel weekly, and this has been the worst airline experience I have had so far."
Pros: "Ok movie selection - gave you iPads, which were somewhat glitchy, but eventually seemed to work. Crew was very accommodating."
Cons: "This airline has been terrible to deal with. Before departing, they cancelled one leg of our trip, then waited a full month to rebook (only after weekly, sometimes more often, calls from us). We actually weren't sure if the flight was actually rebooked until we arrived at the airport and were able to check in. The food on all the flights was terrible. Dealing with customer service on the ground at the Manila airport was also terrible - they just kept saying they had to ask someone else who had to ask someone else, then changed the subject and did the same thing with an unrelated question until we got so fed up we left. It took 40 minutes for a bus to come to transfer us from terminal 1 to 2."
Pros: "Very attentive"
Pros: "The price is quite competitive. That is my only reason to choose Philippine Airline."
Cons: "In the Manila Airport, once you entered into the waiting area, it would be a hassle to go to the washroom, for you have to go through the security check lineup again to go back to the waiting area."
Pros: "The food was better."
Cons: "The flight got delay for 1 hour."
Pros: "the seats were comfortable and the staff was very nice"
Cons: "i was business class and had to wait to board for 60 (YES SIXTY) passengers in wheelchairs to board first. And most of those people were ambulating fine before and after. I believe they should have a doctors note. Apparently this is the norm with this airline in Manilla."
Pros: "They fed us like no other , and gave us tooth paste airlines cab learn from the"
Pros: "The crew was very helpful and friendly"
Cons: "Online check in and seating was not available so we had a hard time at the airport check in desk Flight was 1hr delayed"
Pros: "Movie selection"
Cons: "Time to exit plane"
