Beijing would have been a better choice without the uncertainty of the connecting flight in Shanghai. There is a shuttle bus every 30 min goes between Qinhuangdao and Beijing Airport. It was still a good experience overall when I was flexible.

For travelers flying from Taipei to Dallas, I would suggest preparing for a very long journey and keeping your expectations realistic, especially if you are flying economy class. First, try to choose your seat carefully. The economy-class seats may be more comfortable for passengers with smaller body frames, but taller or larger travelers may find the space limited on such a long-haul flight. If possible, consider selecting an aisle seat or a seat with extra legroom. Second, although the airline may offer special meals or premium collaborations, some meals can be quite oily or inconvenient to eat in the limited space of the cabin. I would recommend bringing some wet wipes or tissues, especially if you prefer to keep your hands and tray table clean during the flight. Third, do not rely too heavily on the paid in-flight Wi-Fi. But free wifi without streaming functions is quite good. In my experience, the service may not always work properly, and the refund process can take extra time. It is better to download important documents, entertainment, and messages before boarding. Finally, after arriving in Dallas, allow enough time for immigration, baggage claim, and ground transportation. Even if the process goes smoothly, long international flights can be tiring, so it is helpful to keep your arrival plans flexible. It takes a bit to pick up the luggage. Overall, EVA Air can still be a convenient option for traveling from Taipei to Dallas, but passengers should be well prepared for the realities of a long-haul economy-class flight.

It’s true bring the minimum in clothing and extra luggage. The hotels even offer nightly pajamas and slippers (hilton). Most hotels have laundry access for customers. Also, the international terminal has very cheap souvenirs- seriously 1/2 the stuff I was searching for (magnets, tshirts, shopping bags, Kirby, hello kitty, gundam etc) was cheaper and all in the bottom floor ( before security). They’re even a decent gochapon store if you still have yen’s burning a hole in your pocket.

I noticed several babies and small children crying due to the change in pressure during take off and landing. It causes pain in the their ears, the same way with adults, but they don't know what's going on or how to relieve it. The small children can open their mouth wide and close it, like they are chewing something. For the babies, the parents can push their chin down to open their mouth and let them close it. Repeat until cabin pressure stabilizes. It's much more useful than trying to ask to children to stop crying.

Airport departure is a zoo. You have to show documents of travel just to gain entry. Confusing inside but staff very helpful in getting you lined up where you need to be. Immigration and security screening typical however when you arrive at departure gate you are not allowed to bring any drinks into the gate area and it is a long dry period until first service onboard. You can leave the gate area but must go through secondary screening again to return to the gate waiting area.

Incheon has always impressed me by its cleanliness so I invariably choose Korean Air over and above others. I appreciate the 2 free checked-in luggage policy.
