Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Good enough."
Cons: "The seat didn’t recline and the entertainment didn’t work"
Pros: "Good crew."
Cons: "More comfortable seating."
Pros: "Nice touches like pillow and blanket, lots of movies and hot meals."
Cons: "My seat was very uncomfortable for such a long flight! It didn't recline and was cramped. Also I have terrible nut allergy and when I tried to communicate that to the flight staff the kept telling me to tell someone else."
Cons: "Did not get aboard"
Pros: "Service was courteous and effective once aboard the airplane."
Cons: "Boarding was chaotic, and primarily due to the fault of the boarding staff in Frankfurt. I was flying as a tourist from Switzerland, but it was easy to notice the condescending manner in which the African passengers were treated. I noticed the same attitude at immigration services in Frankfurt, were the officers were openly teasing, laughing at and harassing an Eritrean man. Some of the comments passed were frankly disgusting..."
Pros: "The red wine was good. The flight was smooth."
Cons: "Unpleasant boarding experience: While my carry-on item was well within the Lufthansa guidelines, the lady in charge of boarding insisted that it was too big and did not allow it in the cabin. I have used the same bag in previous Lufthansa flights without any problem. She sarcastically told me that "I am not Americanaki" - a derogatory expression used by those in Greece who consider the Americans naive."
Pros: "What more do you need?"
Cons: "terrible experience - hidden fees for 1st checked baggage travelocity messed up on their site when the ticket was purchased when in fact the person that travels needs to pay to check in the luggage"
Pros: "Drinks and sandwich offered"
Cons: "Very very hot inside. Late departure and no organized on boarding process. Usually Lufthansa is outstanding!"
Cons: "boarding was chaotic"
Cons: "A snoring passenger in a seat ahead of me. Tight seat."
Pros: "Nice, uneventful, on time flight with adequate food and entertainment. Good seat recline. Good service. Boarding from the back of the plane makes good sense."
Cons: "First time my knees have touched the seat in front of me (I'm 5-10). Not sure how much more airlines can squeeze us in. Good seat recline is great if everyone is reclining, if not you will have someone in your lap. Had to ask person in front of me to not recline during meal. What really bothered me though was paying for a reserved seat and finding out we had been moved to the dreaded back row due to an equipment change. Strongly suggest passenger notification for this move. Was able to re-reserve seats on check in but there were some significant angst when I found out about this mischief."
Pros: "The crew again was great. The cheese sandwich was also excellent. I wasn't expecting a sandwich on a 2 hour flight and this was a welcome surprise."
Cons: "Boarding took a long time, but that was a product of having to bus everyone out to the plane for boarding. They also crammed way too many people onto the bus. Would have been more efficient to load quickly and go as another bus was already waiting."
Cons: "The food was not good at all. The economy seats are uncomfortable and you should be able to walk around the plane, especially on a 9 plus hour flight."
Cons: "They had one guy checking passports and he was being trained. Someone asked if there was anyone trying to get on the SF flight and a bunch of us raised our hands, but they didn't do anything. We had to run like OJ to make our flight. Not fun. Then the AC wasn't working while we sat there."
Cons: "Boarding at Bologna was a nightmare. The Check-In lines opened late; the number of desks open was limited; took over an hour to check in for flight"
Cons: "I haven’t received my luggage and I have been in Mumbai for almost 3 days!!! I have to buy new clothes and plenty of toiletries, I have only had 1 phone call from the airline to tell me my bags never left SFO!!! Wtf!"
Cons: "The boarding area was cramped."
Pros: "On time"
Cons: "The layover was a little too short and had to run from one terminal to another in frankfurt."
Pros: "Breakfast should not be served 4 AM Cairo time, 40 minutes after boarding"
Cons: "Food was just ok"
Pros: "Very comfortable flight. Good crew member little little bit uptight but expected. Efficient and on time"
Cons: "Need to upgrade mefia hardware to 21st century."
Cons: "1 person working the service desk. I had a question about our connecting flight from Frankfurt and I was told to call the 1-800 number. When I went to check my bag the woman was very rude and asked me "why do I think I can check two bags?" and questioned my Star Alliance premium silver status, demanding I show her my card (I have no card). My friend was flying with me and she was told that her carry on, mind you had flown to and within europe, was too big for the overhead storage and she had to pay 90 euros to check it and the woman held her boarding pass and wouldn't give it to her. we waited in line at the service desk for over 40 minutes so that she could pay. We arrived to the airport 2.5 hours early to eat and shop for souvenirs. We barely made it in time to get to our gate because of the inefficiencies of Lufthansa. 1 person working a service desk for a large airport is unacceptable, especially when they are 8-10 waiting to scan your baggage and not helping out at all. I had a wonderful flight to Europe on Lufthansa and was absolutely appalled at the attitudes of the airport staff and their lack of customer service."
Cons: "The food is not tasty"
Pros: "The crew were very friendly and I liked that they always kept us hydrated with drinks. Before I even left on the trip I called the airlines several time with so many questions and the staff that I talked to each time were so friendly and helpful with all the questions that I had."
Cons: "The only thing I didn't like is that the boarding process was different than what I was used to. I usually board by zones and this time it was more of a everyone got up at the same time and everyone rushed to the front of the lines and some people would push me out of the way to get in front. ( even though we all had assigned seating) Second thing was that I had asked for a wheelchair for my mom and I had seen one waiting outside and was about to walk up to it but another person was limping up to it and put her stuff down on it so I didn't know if it was for my mom or her. I didn't have the heart to go up and make her move if the wheelchair was for my mom so we ended up walking the whole way to customs. I felt bad for my mom afterwards because her knees ended up hurting by the time we got to customs. I would suggest holding up signs of individual names for who the wheelchair is for. Other than that everything was great"
Pros: "Love Lufthansa"
Pros: "I just love flaying with Lufthansa Airline, absolutely love it! Everything starting from customer service to blankets is great quality."
Cons: "The food could be better tobut I was pleased with the service"
Cons: "The food was pretty dull."
Pros: "First time flying Lufthansa and I had a comfortable and enjoyable experience. The food was quite good and the selection and quality of entertainment was excellent. Best of all, there was plenty of legroom for a long international flight!"
Pros: "Boarding, food, efficiency of crew."
Cons: "Entertainment system was non-functional."
Cons: "No major issue."
Pros: "Nothing in particular"
Cons: "The shabbiness of the plane. The cramped space. The lack of overhead bin space. In fact, the space above my seat was full of suitcases of the crew. I had to find space somewhere else. If I had not been able to board early, I probably would not have found space."
Pros: "Food wine and professional courteous staff. So much nicer than American airlines"
Pros: "The entertainment options were great, and the food was better than many airline meals I've had before."
Cons: "I am Star Alliance Gold and I didn't like that it wasn't possible to select an economy plus seat upon check in, and I wasn't upgraded even though there were seats available. I picked this airline specifically because of it's star alliance membership but it didn't get my anything."
Pros: "The Lufthansa crew in Munich was very helpful when my boarding pass would not go through - I was not told I needed a new pass for that flight (as the first one had been cancelled and rebooked: 2 Air Berlin flights). No one was of help until this point, and the Lufthansa crew even offered to check on my baggage for us only to notice it never left Berlin; we didn't get it for 3 days. This did not surprise me because last time I flew Air Berlin for an 8 day cycling & camping trip, I didn't see my bike for 5 days (you can imagine this sort of ruins the entire point of the trip). After reading a lot of complaints with Air Berlin and never hearing back from their customer service (ever) after numerous forms filled out, I knew checking our bags with Air Berlin from the start would mean we wouldn't see them in New York. I even said to the Air Berlin employee at check in that I refused to check my bag because of my past experience and he "assured" me my bag would be at JFK when I got there. Ha. It was nice to see the Lufthansa crew shocked at how poorly this trip home was working out for my husband and I."
Cons: "After the cancelled flight, we were very disappointed to be rebooked with Air Berlin. We do not want to fly Lufthansa if they are so closely associated with Air Berlin, and will tell our friends the same."
Pros: "Nice crew, made an effort to find a special meal that was ordered for the original connecting flight and was not transferred to the alternate flight since I boarded on standby."
Cons: "Had to sit on a window seat since due to a delayed previous flight I missed my connection and boarded on standby. I have long legs and it was extremely uncomfortable and painful to sit there."
Cons: "No boarding lines. Boarded late. I was not given enough time from my arriving flight. I had to spring the length of the airport and up and down stairs as the elevators had long lines. Maybe it was good it boarded late or I wouldn't have made it."
Pros: "Superb service thru Lufthansa"
Cons: "Long wait, but it was cheap so it ofset it"
Cons: "My wifes luggage was lost, no followup at all from Lufthansa (main) or in Seville which was our destination. We had to call to find out any information. Once the bag was found and delivered to Seville, Lufthansa personnel again did not tell us nor would they deliver the bag to our hotel as the driver had already left. We then had to wait another day to have the bag delivered to Granada. Terrible customer service, the bag was missing for four days causing us to spend time shopping for clothes rather than experiencing the city."
Pros: "The lady on the counter was very friendly & helped me to rebook another flight to Frankfurt early next morning."
Cons: "Flighing from Nashville to Washington for 30 minutes & than have to turn around due to weather."
Pros: "Everything was good , on time and without problems."
Cons: "No entertaiment"
Pros: "Nothing about vayama."
Cons: "Μy flight experience was good overall. My husband was in the same flight from Munich to Sevilla. His luggage never arrived to Sevilla. We are still trying to locate it. We fly frequently and this is the first time we had our luggage lost. Eleni"
Pros: "Nice flight not much disruption, Silent plane for a way back seat Nightflight was excellent handeled"
Cons: "Seats are too close together I had nicer meals on lufthansa flights."
Pros: "The plane was very comfortable, and I had plenty of space, because I was sitting near to the exit door. The service and the crew were just great. I love traveling with Lufthansa."
Pros: "The lufthansa planes are very nice and always comforting."
Cons: "We left late for absolutely no reason to be said. We landed late then in Frankfurt and instead of parking at a gate, we parked at the tarmac and had to wait for a bus to take us to the terminal. Then my layover was at the very end of the terminal. All of this combined caused me and some 30 other passengers to miss their connecting flight to Chicago. Just poor management of the flight."
Pros: "I liked everything about the flight. The flight crew was nice. They were considerate and cheerful."
Cons: "their website did not allow changes nor did it provide a number to call"
Pros: "Almost nothing."
Cons: "Allow field research of all terminals to best decide for the next flight to book. If I were 3 seconds off and not running on my last leg to Naga, I would have been stuck in Manila for the entire duration of my trip."
Cons: "They lost my bag and I still haven't heard from them"
Pros: "Flight attendants were lovely."
Cons: "Seats recline too far so there was NO space. Flight left an hour late for unknown reason. Double charged for bags on return flight. Lost my carry on after forcing me to check it (still awaiting its return). Charged me to fix an error they made on original booking. I'll never fly with Iberia ever again."
Cons: "If kayak didn’t take me to a page where the reservation was different than what I agreed on. Not even close to what I had selected, leading me to believe I was booking a trip on the days I chose and then not realizing it was incorrect until my trip was starting. This is the last time I use kayak."
Cons: "Don’t delay flights that messed my return"
Pros: "Fine flight once we were in the air."
Cons: "There were NO SIGNS saying it was a level flight, not Iberia. No one at Iberia check in desk etc. We eventually figured it out after a while. In general Iberia and level are short staffed and unorganized. If you're willing to deal with this, it's an affordable option and they'll get you from A to B."
Pros: "I really like the fact that I could check the baggage the day before the trip. This was very helpful and I could avoid keeping the bags during a long stop in Madrid."
Cons: "Flight was an hour late."
Cons: "Politeness of the crew"
Pros: "Gate was extremely crowed and disorganized. Non-European citizens must present passport. That requirement should be clearly stated."
Cons: "Travel notifications should mention documentation requirements."
Cons: "The crew is not nice and rude. The checkin counter didnt allow me to have overweight of 300 grams. Ridiculous. At some areas of the plan the air conditioning doesn't work well"
Pros: "Thw crew were amezing, with a lot of patient. The entertainment was graet. The seats were graet.7;"
Pros: "On time, clean airplane, smooth, good flight overall"
Cons: "No entertainment or food on board. Not even drinking water"
Pros: "It was a very busy due to the fact that we,left 40imutes late and Iberia was also late when we left Madrid but they took care of me to make sure I did not miss the connecting flight"
Cons: "The food could be better"
Pros: "Not full, attendants went out of way to accommodate seating requests"
Cons: "I bought my tkts a moth ago. And when arrived to VLC airport i have no seat ans they put me on STB. NOT GOOD /("
Pros: "Very comfortable. Service good"
Pros: "Boarding was excellent and crew also food was good."
Cons: "Seats to small. Like sardines for 8 hours. Almost no leg room"
Pros: "Flight time"
Cons: "That I fly in Tourist"
Pros: "on time"
Cons: "very uncomfortable plane/ seats"
Cons: "Tiny food. Late one hour."
Pros: "Iberia was a pleasant surprise!!! Excellent airline"
Pros: "Madrid's airport is comfortable and modern."
Cons: "Unless you paid you do not even get a seat assigned until you get to the airport. No food or even drink unless you pay."
Pros: "Heathrow Airport has a lot of stores to keep you occupied"
Cons: "Late notice of where our gate was located. By the time we got the news, we went to our gate and the people were already boarding"
Pros: "The staff was rude and not helpful. Check in was below standard."
Pros: "Our flight was subcontracted through another airline, Level, so my comments are related to Level."
Cons: "I called the airline a week before our departure regarding the baggage fee. I was assured the fee was included in the price. However, at the time of check in, I was charged a $55 checked bag fee."
Pros: "Nice crew and good landing"
Cons: "We paid extra to sit in Economy * I am 6-3, wife 5-4 and neither had any leg room We were sitting in 2 seats by themselves. It was an endurance contest to make it through the flight. I will never fly Iberian Airlines again. It was terrible!!!"
Cons: "The line at the checking counter in Rome was moving very slowly. The person at the counter was a nice person, though. I think they need more people there."
Pros: "The entertainment system with movies was great, with plenty of choices and good sound. The crew was very good. Legroom on the seats was good. They kept the temperature in the plane just right. We could board first because we had a 5-year-old child."
Cons: "Flight was delayed an hour leaving Chicago, and arrived an hour late in Madrid. The screen was not updated in Chicago to let us know what was going on. It's a mass of people at the gate, with very little systematic lining up. One luggage piece did not come out on the carousel in Madrid. We had to wait 1.5 hr at the airport to confirm that they would send it to our Madrid hotel. Hopefully it will come. The food was mediocre. Pasta for dinner with little to no meat. Not even fruit. They are clearly saving money on the food."
Pros: "Cabin crew did reseat a passenger when there were two tallish men in same row."
Cons: "The seat on the LGW to MAD leg of my journey was very painful and uncomfortable. Seat pitch was very short. I have never seen such close seats in 45 years of flying including bargain airlines let alone more pricey higher quality airlines like British. Iberia was supposed to be an extension of British. When I arrived at MAD I went to the Iberia desk and tried to make an upgrade to their "business" class which was not up to the level of British's Premium Economy. At the Iberia desk at MAD, or online, or on the phone to upgrade the short leg of my return trip without raising cost of my whole round trip from USD $1250 to over USD $4000! years. This was RETURN part of my journey! Also was not able to choose seats ahead of time at MAD when I landed, online, or on the phone. British also said that I could not upgrade just the first (MAD to LGW) leg of my return journey. I would have to upgrade the LGW to TPA also. It is critical to me that I can physically fit into the space between my seat and the one in front. Emergency evacuation would be very difficult for all pax with the short seat pitch. My having to sit sideways with my legs in the aisle would make it more difficult for other pax to to evacuate in an emergency. Since I need a wheel chair I can no longer request the exit row as I have done for 45 years. British should be aware that bad experiences with partner airlines tarnishes their reputation. As a premier airline British should pressure partner airlines to maintain seat pitch at no less than 32 inches which is still tight for many people. Since not all partners have equivalent classes of fares, British should allow mixed classes. For example on a TPA to MAD round trip journey, it should be possible for the transatlantic legs to be at Premium Economy prices, and the short legs LHR or LGW to MAD at business class prices. Feel free to contact me."
Pros: "Entertainment choices were ok."
Cons: "no leg room."
Cons: "2 of our bags didn't arrive to Beirut"
Cons: "Lack of organization"
Pros: "The crew was great and the flight was great also. As the plane wasn't full, I was able to move my seat and have two seats which was lovely. Thank you"
Cons: "It was freezing on the plane. I had a jacket on and socks and used two of the blankets and was still cold. I also had tried to contact Iberia to order a special meal, but was not able to get through on the line even though I tried for several days. I also was not able to figure out how to order a meal on-line. I was disappointed with the choices of movies."
Pros: "Entertainment was great, great food! You can't beat the price of the ticket."
Cons: "When I arrived I was greeted by a "what up." Instead of a professional "Hello." The man who helped me at MIA was rude and threw my passport in my face when he told me I needed a return ticket. After I booked another ticket for return.. I presented myself to another counter staff."
Pros: "Roomier plane than the one I took to Madrid."
Cons: "Group system to queue on line was okay but people still seemed confused. Crew forgot some people's request. Bathrooms were smelly and dirty only after two hours on plane."
Pros: "a non event flight - meal was ok, flight attendants helpful"
Cons: "airport in london - waited for hours to find which gate to used - sent us across to the wrong side and then only 40 minutest to board and we were running to take underground rail back to other side and find correct gate."
Cons: "Delays delays delays!!! Terrible!! We were waiting 7 hours!! No compensation was offered!"
Pros: "Good and beverage selection was great"
Cons: "Delayed departure I'm 6'4" and business seat is small Also crew should improve kindness and attention."
Pros: "Not much"
Cons: "Despite seeing a crew bring 3 pieces of luggage to the plane, since the cargo was closed they turned around and 1 of those was my luggage which arrived a day later. The flight was late departing and then required to circle the airport and then the luggage did not make it."
Cons: "No complimentary drinks, not even a glass of water. Check in was horrendous. I pre purchased luggage Check in but when I arrived in airport the automated system doesn't like to that piece of data. Didn't know that so was in a long line to use automated check in when I was supposed to be in an even longer line to have service personnel check me in. So finally after standing in both lines I did get checked in......."
Cons: "Lost luggage, hot plane, charged for water"
Cons: "There is no room for legs he flight was not comfortable .For flight more 5 hours,a plane must be larger, than AB 319"
Pros: "Great crew, funny and friendly. Really enjoyed my first experience on Iberia. The Economy Plus was really nice. I wasn't expecting a preflight beverage. Nice touch."
Cons: "They forced us to check our bags at the gate even though we had an international connection to make in London--to continue flying to Chicago. As a result, we had to go through customs and security in London, and would have most definitely missed our connecting flight back home to the States if not for a woman in customs at Heathrow who let us cut to the front of the line. I will never fly Iberia again and will be lodging a formal complaint."
Pros: "I had the next seat empty next to the window so I can sleep more comfortably. The entertainment selection was wonderful."
Cons: "The air conditioning was too cold. I was sneezing the whole trip."
Pros: "Easy check in and comfortable seats"
Pros: "No delayed flights"
Pros: "Promptness of flight. Comfortable seating. Excellent food and service."
Cons: "Personal entertainment unit did not work, making for a very long flight."
