Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Swap my two reviews! This one is for the flight going to London when I had the Skycouch! That was fabulous."
Pros: "Well coordinated loading of plane. Good food service. Well informed.."
Pros: "I really liked how instructions were said clearly with visuals, in particular, the video at the start of the flight. It brought a sense of relief and wonder. I enjoyed the lunch I had too. The lamb curry is sublime. I would have it every day to be honest. I was also lucky that I had passengers who sat next to me, who were kind and lovely."
Cons: "Only the take off from the flight. It made me dizzy and nautious."
Pros: "The crew was polite, efficient and prompt"
Cons: "The food quality needs improvement!"
Pros: "The crew, as always, was fantastic. Very helpful and always kind. The seats are comfortable enough, considering it was a long flight, and the excellent entertainment helped the time pass quickly."
Pros: "The food in Premium Economy was good and there are plenty of movies to choose from. The staff were lovely."
Cons: "I had paid for Premium Economy and was seated in Row 30. The passengers were boarded up to row 28, then from to back of the plane forward then I was boarded with the last remaining passengers. That was not what I feel should have happened. I did not like the footrest on the seats."
Pros: "Premium economy is the way to go. So much more comfortable."
Cons: "This flight was close to perfect. Boarding process at the gate was a bit hectic, but manageable."
Cons: "Long lines for security in Auckland, so I barely made the flight to Chicago. There were delays in Chicago due to the weather."
Pros: "This is an overnight red eye flight. There is not much to interact with crew or service. It is simply long with attempts to sleep."
Pros: "I was disappointed that Air New Zealand charges US15 to reserve specific seats. For our party of 3, that would be US90 RT so I didn't do it. But at the gate I asked for window seats and the attendant gave us excellent seats at the front of the plane."
Cons: "No issues that caused us any problems."
Pros: "Very spacious seats and good entertainment system. Two meals provided. Good blankets provided with pillows. Spacious and clean bathroom."
Cons: "My usb charging plug didn’t work and I wish they sent me an email in advance or told me upon check in what the requirements were that I would have to show upon boarding. I was not prepared to show them my follow on flight schedule (leaving NZ) but I would have been prepared if I had known in advance"
Cons: "Terrible customer service."
Pros: "Quick and easy"
Pros: "The service was excellent. The food was wonderful and the cabin very comfortable."
Pros: "Very friendly ticket counter staff and flight crew."
Cons: "Booked flight through Kayak on Virgin Australia, but found out it was a codeshare on Air New Zealand. No where during booking did it show we would be charged for 1 checked bag a piece. Got to the airport and Air New Zealand was going to charge 134 AUD for each checked bag. Fortunately, they recommended going to the Virgin Australia counter to see if they could add a checked bag to our ticket. The nice people at Virgin used an online code to give us a discount so we only paid 25 AUD a bag. Thanks a lot for the heads up Kayak. We will book direct next time to avoid surprises. Also, almost all movies on Air New Zealand were an extra charge, and the only drinks offered for free on a 3 hour flight were coffee, tea, and water - no soft drinks."
Pros: "Everything. A modern comfortable plane. It's embarrassing for airlines from America because they pale in comparison. I would gladly pay $100 more and fly in style IN COACH! Can't wait for the return flight."
Cons: "I am vegetarian so should request veg option meals"
Pros: "No security on this regional flight; made it simple to board. Very quiet for a turboprop aircraft. Boarding was delayed and not well announced."
Pros: "Veer smooth ride. Very nice crew. Great service"
Pros: "Air New Zealand is one of the best air experiences we've had. Employees seem to enjoy their jobs and are usually happy. Very service oriented. Ground staff and check in terrific. Why can't USA folks and TSA figure this out? Updates from flight deck were good and pilot seemed to avoid some expected turbulence. Cabin crew friendly, competent, helpful. Food was very good, nice touch with comp wine. Entertainment options were many and good variety. Hope to fly ANZ again someday."
Cons: "A little weird, to go out of secured concourse and go back through security, again, in Auckland. Safety, I suppose. At least process was fast and efficient and folks were friendly."
Pros: "No bags on an international flight?! I had to pay $375 for 3 bags. Last minute changes with a layover, instead of a 3 hr flight it was a 6 hr flight and NO FOOD not even available to purchase.... very confusing very disappointed...."
Pros: "Very friendly and helpful flight attendants"
Pros: "The flight departed on time, arrived on time - run of the mill stuff for Air NZ. Crew very good as per normal"
Cons: "I swear the seats are getting more and more 'scrunchy'. There are more appropriate places to get almost intimate with your seat buddy."
Pros: "Comfy seats, the flight was basically empty so I got my own row. Very nice flight attendants. Pilot kept us updated on timing and storm movement."
Cons: "Flight was delayed twice, seat hadn’t been swept for garbage from the previous flight (wrappers and used tissues in the seat pocket)."
Pros: "The food was very good, the movie selection was great, and the staff were friendly and caring."
Cons: "Check In Issues related to code share flight"
Pros: "Great staff and crew. Some of the best!"
Cons: "No Wi-fi? WTF? It's 2017, almost 2018! How is it that an international airline does not have Wi-fi? Extremely disappointed, as I didn't find out until I boarded the flight. Get Wi-fi ASAP."
Pros: "We flew with Air New Zealand a few times during our trip and every flight was absolutely perfect. Staff was nice and helpful, the cabin was comfortable and everything from checking in to walking off the plane was easy."
Pros: "Great food, wine, service Seats"
Cons: "no wifi"
Pros: "Great food, wine, service Seats"
Cons: "no wifi"
Pros: "I had always had a pleasant time with this airline but this 2nd longer flight wasn't it's best! I still have good opinions about this airline and plan on using it in the future."
Cons: "My neighbor in a 4 seat section kept elbowing me. Seats seemed to be too close to each other and for people who aren't average weight it is hard for them to stay within their given space. Eating meals was difficult because some people use their elbows all over the place."
Cons: "Someone sitting in my seat already!"
Pros: "Air New Zealand plane was newer and crew was helpful and gracious. Connection to Glasgow was a disaster mostly caused by our airline changing to British Airways to Glasgow. Because our LAX yo LHR flight arrived a bit late, we missed our flight to GLA and had to wait nine hours to get seats on another flight from LHR to GLA. No accomodations were made for us. We had to manage nine hours in LHR with a 4 year-old -- we had no other choice."
Cons: "Will never again fly Air New Zealand from LAX to GLA -- an annual route for us as we have family in Scotland."
Cons: "Economy was too squished. Hard to eat with people next to you."
Pros: "I thought there was plenty of leg room in the standard seats. The flight attendants were cordial. No complaints."
Pros: "Amazing service. Friendly staff. Sat in row 38. Seat was comfortable and foot rest was amazing! I would highly recommend air New Zealand!"
Pros: "Very friendly crew, clean and comfortable."
Pros: "Seats, blankets, entertainment system and service was solid. Food was also good, not great, but included in fair which is nice. Cabin Crew were a delight."
Cons: "I needed to receive a boarding pass in person, could not receive a digital one before arriving at LAX."
Pros: "Wonderful service from the ground crew. They went beyond the call of duty. Excellent experience. Thanks to everyone"
Pros: "Crew helpful, congenial."
Cons: "Anticipated more legroom based on seat chart diagram."
Pros: "We made our connection, just barely."
Cons: "Faulty equipment presented as weather problems caused almost hour delay."
Cons: "departed to late .. nearly missed connecting Auck- Hong Kong. Suitcase was left behind .. will receive 498 hrs later .. not good enough"
Pros: "Lovely experience. Great service and atmosphere"
Cons: "Airplane to cold. Had to wear a sweatshirt and cover up with a blanket the whole flight."
Pros: "United Code share. Very poor boarding. Service is poor, food is poor. But compared to some US Airlines they are probably good."
Cons: "Well for every US airline. Improve everything."
Pros: "Airport was easy to get to and the flight was very smooth and comfortable on a twin engine plane that is quite modern (noise level very minimal even though it is a propeller plane). Air New Zealand attendants were super friendly and helpful."
Pros: "The plane was probably the best for international flight I have ever taken. More to the point the seat was so comfortable I was actually able to sleep, The seat also many great features (outlets to charge electronics, little storage area, and entertainment screen)"
Cons: "The check in (totally self serve) was awful. It was confusing not user friendly. US airlines have kiosks to print boarding passes. This did too but missed some steps, ie printing luggage tags which you needed to print yourself and attach and place on a conveyor belt. The airlines did not have enough help to guide people through this process."
Pros: "Fabulous! Again, the Flight crew are so friendly. helpful and always smiling. The overnight flight went very fast. The dinners and hot breakfast served were beautiful. Complimentary wine with dinner was lovely."
