Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Very clean plane, comfortable seating, crew great, food actually delicious!"
Pros: "Crew was attentive - the service from SJC is much better than SFO - less crowded etc. New 787 and Premium Econ is great."
Cons: "Was overnight flight but food was served very late and lights were on for a while so people were getting drunk and loud with free alcohol served but no milk for toddlers available."
Cons: "Hi, Pliz sort out the menu, the food was rubbish."
Cons: "Free snack and tea and coffee"
Pros: "The flight was smooth and quick. Got to LA within 40 minutes."
Cons: "They could've provided some snacks."
Pros: "The service in the Business Class section on British Airways was phenomenal"
Pros: "The air hostesses were first class. Pleasant, efficient and professional."
Cons: "The tv selections. Could have had more variety"
Cons: "flight was delayed and we never got any information by the pilots or crew to let us know that we were delayed and no information on the new arrival time. Almost lost my connection at LAX"
Cons: "The cabin was extremely hot for almost the entire flight. I had my pants rolled up to try to stop sweating. I asked for some ice water to help cool down and although promised, it never arrived. I was not able to sleep as a result."
Cons: "3 canceled flights and lost luggage.... bad communication by employers and absolutely no help ... we were sent all over the airport several times to the wrong places and felt that no body cared in this process .... I would like compensation and something to make this right ... we also lost our upgraded seats I lpaid for and the vegan meals we ordered in advance"
Pros: "Entertainment was adequate."
Cons: "The plane was freezing for 11 hours. Flight attendant said it would be adjusted but it never was. We were against a wall and seats did not recline. Very little room."
Cons: "I purchased a business class seat, fully paid six months in advance. There was a last minute change in the type of aircraft, I was downgraded to economy plus. BA never tried to contact me in advance or gilve me any other options. It was a nasty surprise but I had no other choice."
Pros: "We didn't crash."
Cons: "Flight attendants repeatedly increased the amount of alcohol given to drunk passengers while those passengers spilled food and drinks on me and could not keep their bodies out of my personal space."
Pros: "The A-380 is outstanding. Seats are good, even in economy. Entertainment system is great."
Cons: "It seems to me that boarding by Groups has not helped in the least bit, instead it has made things slower. It's bad enough that the charges and limitations on luggage have forced everyone to try to board with their suitcases... The group system just makes things worse. I recommend BA compares itself to Lufthansa, Swiss, Qatar, Thai, whatever, and avoid trying to match Easyjet and American Airlines on service levels. Oh, and there is no excuse for long delays and cancellations in the most important airport in Europe. At least not for a simple dusting of snow."
Pros: "Flight left almost on time and arrived on time. Crew was friendly."
Cons: "Wasn't able to select a seat ahead of time like with other airlines. Seat rows way too tight (even for a normal 130 lb person like me). No good movie options, very limited selection. Food pretty bad, but that's almost expected this day and age."
Cons: "FLIGHT WAS CANCELLED IN THE LAST MINUTE, I WAS STRANDED IN LONDON AND HAD NO COMPENSATION"
Pros: "Modern individual entertainment stations. Comfortable leather (or perhaps synthetic leather) seats. Friendly helpful crew."
Cons: "I was seated between 2 people, and it felt like very little space."
Pros: "Great staff except for the idiot who kept walking back and forth with his loud shoes purposely seeking attention. Good wasn’t so bad as typical plane food."
Cons: "Flight was delayed. Not many entertainment selections."
Pros: "Very little."
Cons: "Awful (typically BA) configuration im Club World on a 787 - cramped, inadequate storage, just lacking essential comfort for a supposed premium class. Food: seriously, I've had better in student cafes. Just stop it BA - its like some kind of prison food. Entertainment: meh. Small selection of new release movies. Crew: with the exception of one - just one from a complement of 15 odd - of the crew, the rest were a surly, inhospitable miserable bunch. If you hate your job don't take it out on customers - especially in a service industry."
Pros: "The staff are good and attentive"
Cons: "Just the delay and long flight but that's something that BA has no control"
Pros: "The chicken and cheese risotto meal was excellent. One of our flight attendants, Sharon, stood out from the others with her service and friendliness, however all crew was good. Airbus A380 was the smoothest flight I've ever been on."
Cons: "The pepperoni pizza wrap snack was not good."
Pros: "smooth flight"
Cons: "no dairy free food options"
Pros: "The crew was great! Very friendly and helpful."
Cons: "I added a quick trip to Austria while I was in Europe and timed it so I would fly back to London and then back to LA on the same day. London had a huge wind storm on 10/21 so my flight from Austria landed 1 hour late, with that I missed my London-LAX flight on BA (that I purchased via Kayak). The BA agents tried to help me but were not able to use my Kayak ticket to re-book me or at least recover some of my investment. There was no phone number provided on my reservation and after an hour of trying to help me, they said I have to buy a brand new ticket. The cost for my return and my seat reservation both were lost and my new ticket was $1,600 (and I had to spend the night in a hotel at Heathrow as at that point all US flights left for the day). I usually book directly with the airlines because I want to avoid situations like this, so it is too bad that the one time I come to Kayak I end up having to buy a new ticket that was twice as expensive as the original one. Pros: "It wasn’t unpleasant"
Cons: "M&S should be ashamed to put their name to this dreadful selection of food. EasyJet has a more varied selection for gluten intolerance. The boarding experience could not be more anachronistic - every gem and precious metal under the sun is given priority (emerald card??) and it is just about left unsaid that the final people allowed to board are the Plebs. What a dispiriting experience and one I now have to repeat after the demise of Monarch, who were so much better."
Pros: "Plane was comfortable. Seats were not bad. Spent most of the flight asleep."
Cons: "Part was a code share with AA. When BA transfered the data to AA, they lost the seat assignments which I found out about at the last minute and ended up spending almost $400 to get acceptable seats. Could not get boarding passes at our origin in Rome and had to wait in line at LHR. Boarding seemed very disorganized."
Pros: "The crew and entertainment was great on this flight! Other than that, it is kind of hard to find positives."
Cons: "We were delayed by 30 minutes for whatever reason and then we were trapped in the air for 11 hours in tiny seats. The seat wasn't very comfortable and I didn't have much room to sit and for my legs. I had a stupid box under the seat in front of me with airplane stuff in it I guess, so that took up some room under the seat in front of me. I had my legs stretched in the aisle most of the flight. The food wasn't great, but what airline food is good? I was really expecting this aircraft to be like the Dream Liner, but overall it was just a big tin can in the sky."
Pros: "Flight attendants are so friendly, cheerful, personable and polite"
Cons: "BA website required payment for any seat selection, so I paid $35 for two aisle seats to be close to my husband. Then, BA website did not allow change or upgrade of seating when I at last discovered upper deck availability and paid another $50 each for us to sit together.. I purchased seating months in advance, and so did friends travelling with me, but my husband's seat was given free to a man who said had just purchased 2 days prior. I purchased my one friend an exit row seat in main cabin for $75 but BA gave it to someone else. Yes, I want refunds and will be writing more about this to BA and posting about this horrid discomfort."
Cons: "Staff where very rude. I asked if me and my partner could move as the person in front had there seat back therefore my knees got damaged and grazed they simply said we can't move you and left I asked a number of times I was ignored"
Pros: "Fantastic crew. Very nice people."
Cons: "Sitting in coach. The seats were so close together that the tv screen in front of me was blurry--it is that close to your face. Miserable. Could only watch one movie on a 10 hour flight because it gave me a headache. The seats are absolutely claustrophobic. It was miserable."
Pros: "Staff was exceptional."
Cons: "First a large number of the flight was flagged for special screening which meant that they had to do additional procedures and were very understaffed as many of us talking near 100 people had to stay behind and wait for over an hour as three employees screened us in detail. This while the rest of the plane was already boarded. Thus the flight left late and arrived very late to LAX. Secondly the refrigeration on board for food was broken thus spoilong the food so we only received one meal on an 11 hour flight which we were starving and not what we paid for during this flight. They did offer snacks but when not having a full meal as paid for it is a huge let down. Thirdly why is Wi-Fi not offered on this flight. Due to the late departure and late arrival we missed my connection to TUS and was not able to make calls or email during the flight. Not acceptable. Very unhappy and will never be flying with British Airways again. I WILL ALSO NEVER LET FRIENDS AND FAMILY FLY WITH THEM. An airline as prestigious as BA needs to work better at ensuring the minimum on offering wait we the customer pays for and this did not happen. Staff was amazing and very friendly but we were very dejected and felt that your brand suffered a lot with this experience. I do hope to hear from airline about this incident as my wife and I travel constantly."
Pros: "The plane was new and everything was up to par."
Cons: "There wasn't anything I didn't like other than flying in coach!"
Pros: "Landed ahead of schedule"
Cons: "Baggage did not arrive as was not put on flight at San Jose despite checking it in 2.5 hours before flight"
Pros: "Everything was pretty standard, was really impressed by the polarized video screens that look black if you're not sitting right in front of them. Genius. Food was good! But you know...for an airplane"
Cons: "Once the attendants handed out snacks on one side of the plane and not the other. I was pretty sad about that."
Cons: "While I prefer beef to be cooked rare to medium-rare (and mentioned this) on both legs the meat was well-done and dry. This is common to many airline steaks, and may be an unavoidable consequence of the limitations of preparing food on board. (Though I have had reasonably prepared meat dishes on certain AA flights). All dishes are highly under-seasoned, but a packet of salt and paper is provided, so this is not a curial concern."
Pros: "Again, I liked that the staff was very kind, accommodating and professional"
Cons: "I did not like a family that delayed us by 10 minutes because they did not wanted to comply with policy regarding a cello they were carrying. It was very annoying and they did not apologize to the staff."
Pros: "Decent leg room, crew and entertainment."
Cons: "Upon landing late in London from Rome there was no one to bring the walkway to the plane so had to wait on the plane when we were already behind schedule on a tight connection. THEN having to go through second security check in London when changing planes and security in terminal C was closed so had to transfer to terminal B for security and back to C to catch flight barely making it! Luggage did not make connection. Promised it will be delivered today."
Pros: "Flight crew is the most helpful and genuine I've experienced of all carriers. I've had bad experiences with Lufthansa, United, American, and Delta. Everything we asked of BA was taken care of quickly and they truly seemed to care more. They are especially attentive to children. The A320 storage space overhead is huge and seemed to have room to spare with a fully booked flight."
Cons: "Seats are so uncomfortable for people 6 foot tall and above. Why can't they make a seat that adjusts for taller people."
Pros: "Fairly clean, on time and staff were very nice."
Cons: "No food or drink anymore! You have to pay to get a budget airline at premium prices."
Pros: "Connection desk and gate attendance were the only people who tried to help fix the mistakes made by the people in madrid. Global access allowed to quicken our time spent going home after the mets that was our flight home."
Cons: "the attendant at the connection desk did not understand why we had not been given boarding passes or allowed to check in to our flights in madrid. the gate attendants did not understand that even though we were numbers 72 and 73 person processed we were not allowed to check in, receive boarding passes or allowed to sit next to my sister who's reservation was connected to mine"
Cons: "That the flight was delayed and we had to run to make our connection. The flight attendant reassured us that we were making up the lost time in the air and there was going to be no issues."
Pros: "flight was on time. Checking in was easy, and well directed. As for entertainment, plenty of new release movies to view."
Cons: "The seats are uncomfortable, due to a metal box under the seats . You have to sit with legs in an angle, instead of straight; After 9 hours, it's very uncomfortable."
Cons: "Flight was 3 hours delayed, the previous flight lost our baggage and we arrived in LAX at 11. We then missed our connecting flight from LAX to PHX. British a Airways told us that they couldn't do anything about it and we had to stay the night in the airport and get on the next flight at 6am from southwest."
Pros: "Entertainment selection."
Cons: "The air was stale. No circulation. It made me sick."
Cons: "Paid extra for seat- seriously? why??? No one else did and there was no extra leg room~ Make it fair for everyone!"
Cons: "Would have liked the option of internet - even for fee on the 12 HR flight from London to La. otherwise great"
Pros: "We enjoyed the entertainment on the flight. The crew was great too!"
Cons: "We were right in front of the restroom, closest to the back wall. We kept hearing the toilets flush and had to deal with all the people in line for the restrooms. It just felt a little crowded back there. Boarding wasn't ideal either. We were delayed 3 hours and couldn't get a confident update until we actually boarded. The only thing near the gate was a Starbucks that took cash only. That's more of a problem with the airport though. Overall, for an 11 hour flight, it was quite enjoyable."
Pros: "The food was good and the leg room was very good. The flight was on time."
Cons: "On both flight s going to LAX to London and London to LAX we were sitting in the back of the plan with all the families with noisy kids. on the flight to London I had two twins in one seat it was difficult for the mother and the children were all over the place. with a tantrum at the end of the flight because of having to have the seat belt on. On the flight home we were in the last row and all kinds of crying kids. If I ever fly again on British Air I want a seat further forward but if is hard to pre book your seat. We are in our 70's and would like a quieter area."
"Very little information was given regarding delays."
"Some of the crew members were not very friendly. AA gave us seats that were not next to each other despite the fact that we were traveling with a one year old baby. The flight went well overall but these small things were not easy to navigate."
"Nice environment but not deaf friendly .."
"With all the service cutbacks, flying is not a joyous experience anymore."
"Short connecting flight to LAX from SFO. Only thing I maybe disliked was the lack of entertainment options, but what can I expect when it’s only a small jet to LAX"
Pros: "crew was great and moved me further up in the plane to make a tight connection"
Cons: "We need more drinks, water or food on flights over 3 hours!"
Pros: "timing and services"
Pros: "The snacks"
Cons: "They put WAY too many people on one flight, during Covid it just is not safe"
Pros: "Punctuality, professionalism, and overall excellent customer service. Every personal i spoke with was very helpful and pleasant."
Cons: "There are too many good flight times with extensive layovers not enough non stop flights at reasonable times"
Cons: "DO NOT FLY AMERICAN AIRLINES DURING A PANDEMIC. They were not keeping folks distanced from each other, they did not make sure that all the passengers had masks (I understand that people might take them off in flight briefly to drink etc but there were people that walked right on without masks on at all) The flight was FULL. They did a full drink/snack down the aisle thing ensuring that everyone packed into that small space would all be taking off their masks at the same time (if they still had it on in the first place). I did not feel safe at all."
Cons: "Absolutely full flight with no physical distancing."
Pros: "The crew was fine, friendly enough, although I was incredibly disappointed that they didn't force people to wear their masks as they boarded. They also didn't enforce masks over noses--rendering masks useless."
Cons: "The flight was completely full. And people weren't wearing masks as they boarded, and the flight attendants did nothing about that. Also, there was no distancing IN the airport during boarding. It's NOT DIFFICULT to put tape marks on the ground to ensure physical distancing. It is THEIR responsibility to make sure the process is safe, since half of the people seem to not care about distancing (or mask wearing). I'm incredibly disappointed and I will be flying Southwest for the time being: I hear they're better at enforcing distancing."
Pros: "Seats were nice, flight was efficient, arrived early."
Cons: "Gate agent spoke so ridiculously fast and swallowed so many sounds that it was virtually impossible to understand most of what he was saying. Most importantly we all missed that our roll-on bags wouldn’t fight in the overhead bins. As a result many people pulled their bags on and fought and struggled to force their luggage above, only to give up. The on-board agents recognized early the problem and then proceeded to allow many other passengers to stroll by them with their large roll-on bags, only to delay the boarding process and frustrate everyone. When making their safety announcement the flight attendant was clearly competing for fastest speaking human and rushed through at blazing speeds. In all my 30+ years of travel, I’ve never heard anything like it."
Pros: "The legroom."
Cons: "There was nothing not to like."
Cons: "Super tiny seats"
Pros: "I liked the entertainment. Seats were ultimately uncomfortable. Not helped by the backs being loose."
Cons: "There should be more number of check in bags for passengers. At the least the overhead bins should be allowed to the passengers."
Cons: "The food"
Pros: "I like that the flight left on time and arrived early at LAX."
Cons: "They ran out of breakfast. Seat configuration was 3-3-3 in economy and not 2-4-2 like on the JAL flight on the way to Japan. The level of professionalism is much higher on JAL in regards to the flight attendants than AA. The boarding process still needs a lot of work to be more organized (take a look at JAL as an example - they treat customers like kings and queens). Also, there was no way to get a seat assignment through the JAL website. That website looks and acts like it’s from the late 90s."
Pros: "Getting home EVENTUALLY"
Cons: "10 minutes after leaving Austin the pilot tellsnus Houston air traffic control is grounding all westbound flights due to a storm in Dallas that's causing too much congestion. So we sa on the Tarmac for 90 minutes. I have a difficult time believing this situation was a surprise. Possibly it was just to free up the gate and not have to go through reboarding. Also leg room is getting reduced to 28 inches. I'm 5"11 and cramped. How is JetBlue better than American? How much will these airlines continue to bend us over. I didn't even take the screaming infant into account.... since it's not AA's fault for letting that baby on board."
Pros: "Dreamliner plane"
Cons: "Terrible service from get go which continued when landing in Melbourne with hopeless Qantas."
Pros: "Not much"
Cons: "Passengers bringing hot food on plane. KFC and McDonalds odours major in first 30 minutes"
Pros: "good price and a good route"
Cons: "This turned out to be a 'code share' flight operated by American Airlines. As such, neither Qantas nor American Airlines would allow me to buy premium seats so we could have extra leg room. They said the 'code share' blocks seat sales! Be ware Also found out that American Airlines does not serve meals on flights from Toronto to LAX. I was told they only serve meals on "international flights" but that I could buy a sandwich or snack. Unfortunately they only had 4 sandwiches on board , which sold within the first 2 rows of the plane!"
Pros: "Generally clean plane with good entertainment system and technology overall. Diabetic meal much better than in the past."
Cons: "Didn't announce meal choices at the start so flight attendant had to repeat herself every. Single. Row. They forgot my diabetic meal on the last part them forgot to include cutlery and it took a long time to sort out but they were otherwise lovely."
Cons: "Was informed when we checked in that the flight we had purchased did not exists. We were informed thatcher would have to wait 24hours (after an already 7 hour layover) to catch another flight to Los Angeles. After debating with customer servinge several times and being forced to wait in line after being told things were fixed several time we had to threaten to record conversations and had someone call American Airlines headquarters and finally was able to get in the flight the same night. We at work be point were laughed at by an American Airlines customer service professional. I had purchased upgraded seats since I’m over 6 feet tall and they were not able to accommodate on the new flight, the flight was horrible and I had ton stand up every hour to make I the whole 12 hours."
Cons: "This flight was miserable. Seriously, one of the worst flight experiences I've ever had. The leg room was absurdly small. I'm not a tall person and I only had one inch in front of my legs. When the guy in front of me put his seat back it pressed into my knees. There wasn't enough space to bend down and untie my shoes, let alone get something out of my bag. My shoulder and knee were touching the guy next to me (a complete stranger) for the entire flight and there was nothing I could do about it. This was a red-eye but I absolutely could not sleep because it was so uncomfortable, so when we landed I had a terrible migraine and was nauseous and disoriented going through customs. I actually had to sit down in the airport because I though I was gonna pass out while trying to carry my bag, that's how shitty I felt after this flight. On top of that, not being able to sleep on the flight really messed up my sleep schedule and so jet lag from the time change has been made even worse, so I'm completely out of whack and its so much worse that it otherwise would have been because of the horrible flight. Also the food was gross and there wasn't enough of it. Even now, I don't think I have really communicated just how shitty this flight was. I was actually angry when I saw my seat upon boarding, and I'm still angry about it now."
Cons: "We were not permitted to board the plane until later than expected, but were told we would still take off right away and regain lost time, no mention of a delay at last call or immediately after, despite the 20 minute delay by this point. After taxiing, the pilot informed us of withheld information, that ATC would delay our departure for ~40 minutes, but we could STILL try to make it up in the air. This was a bold faced lie. It was finally 9:52pm before we even took off from SFO. While idling, the cabin started to reek of jet fuel, and people started coughing and sneezing. Upon landing at LAX at 10:46pm, we were told that there was no gate for us, and that we would have to wait for an amount of time that kept changing every time there was an announcement. The toxic jet fumes started to permeate the cabin again, and people started coughing and sneezing in response. Ultimately it is 11:21pm by the time we reached our gate. At this point, the jetway was broken/failed to open, but despite this, the air conditioning was switched off and pax crowd the aisles without direction. Finally we managed to escape at 11:31pm."
Pros: "The entertainment selection was pretty good on the flight. That is my only positive experience."
Cons: "The seats were incredible jam-packed together. We had a 9 1/2 hour flight from Tokyo and could not even sit without our knees touching the seat in front of us. My tray table couldn't even properly extend -- the seats are so tight my tray just folded up on top of me. The food was BAD. 1/3 edible out of each course, consistently. I saw other passengers also dumping untouched trays of mystery meat that came as a side. They handed out egg-tomato-cucumber sandwiches which were inedible. The tomato had gone bad and the egg had a sour taste -- I gagged when I took the first bite. I'm especially disappointed with the seat spacing, though. I had a really difficult time getting in/out of the seating aisle to use the restroom. Even with our bags stored under the seat, I couldn't get in without tripping on/getting my foot caught in the strap of our purses/backpack. I couldn't even turn on one side without my arms or legs touching the passenger next to me -- sore neck, sore back, and still couldn't even get a wink of sleep. I will not be flying internationally with American Airlines again. They are the epitome of an airline trying to cash in on as many seats as possible. Save yourself the trouble and fly Japan Airlines directly -- their food was great and their seats were very comfortable."
Cons: "Connecting to LAX through Toronto was frustrating. We were told in Dublin that our bags were checked all the way through to LA and they weren't. (Been through Toronto before and thought maybe they had changed the procedure) Airport signage could be improved to accurately inform of baggage pickup and drop off with your connecting air carrier. (Our traveling companions ended up missing the flight home in the confusion.) The airport is going through renovations, maybe it will improve. The flight to LA wasn't stocked properly with food. They ran out of sandwiches/fruit and cheese plates by the first few rows in the main cabin. No earbuds available for those who needed them. Cramped seating. This flight was with BA partner American Airlines"
Cons: "Staff were so rude"
Pros: "nothing horrible flight"
Cons: "This was almost a six hour flight there were no televisions available the flight was oversold and there were people on standby there was very little Lego room we were only offered snacks and drinks the crew was stressed we left late because we were instructed to check our carry-ons but that was not enforced until people were already on the plane getting on the plane and getting off the plane took a very long time there was very little leg room it was difficult to move around the plane because it was such a small plane the crew was very stressed out. I am very upset about this flight and will not fly with American ever again."
Pros: "The flight was delayed by more than two hours which caused us (me, wife, 4yo, and 7mo) to miss our connection from LAX to HNL. We had to stay the night in LA and take a morning flight to HNL. But despite the delay, the gate agent in Charlotte did a good job of updating people and remained very polite even when it was clear people were getting frustrated and starting to get sharp with him. Pilots did a good job of trying to make up as much time as possible. I can't remember how much time they shaved off but I think it was more than 20 minutes. Customer service in LA was solid too. Went to CSD to get our tickets changed. They had already changed our flight to a 8 AM flight. We asked if we could take a later flight because of the kids and he was able to accommodate. They also gave us vouchers for 3 meals and a night at the Holiday Inn. Having a delayed flight is never fun but the AA staff was amazing throughout."
Pros: "Crew was exceptional (as usual), everything ran smoothly and on time."
Cons: "It doesn't make sense to board from the front of the plane backward. I know this is not an AA thing, but a way to make customers paying more feel more special by having the privilege of sitting on the plane longer...but it's really silly."
Pros: "The guy in the middle seat left and never came back. Smooth flight. Good crew. Got both pretzels and cookies, as well as 2 cups of ice, with no problem."
Cons: "Entertainment system had some quirks. I choose my flights in an attempt to make sure I can watch a movie during the flight, so that's important to me. This one stopped once in the middle of the movie, but worked one I started it again. Didn't have buttons for fast forward or rewind, so had to guess on the timeline when I wanted to see something I missed. Then the flight map kept resetting to a mode other than what I wanted. I know these are first world problems, and they in no way affected the safety of the flight, but I expect more."
Cons: "Had a middle seat and didn't have the option to pick another seat without paying over 250 USD"
Cons: "My family and I make I JFK -LAX reservation 4 months ago. We came to LAX three hours before our flight to make sure we get good seats. At the checking kiosk we did not have the option to pick seats , there was a message on the boarding pass that said to go see boarding agent. So we did, appreantly they over booked the trip and they were looking for volunteers to give up their seats!! Why did we have to be on stand by if our booking was confirmed 4 months ago!! They made us wait until the gate was closed and then they found us seats . This trip caused us mental anguish I will never fly American Airlines again"
Pros: "I appreciated the fact that I kept getting flight delay updates...."
Cons: "I purchased the earliest flight of the day from Vegas to Los Angeles so I could be in LA by 11am so I could attend the 1pm Dodger game at dodger stadium... ( I specifically flew into lax for the game that I spent $100 on tickets for) well I arrived to LAS at 5am by 515am I received my first notification that my flight wouldn't be leaving until 1030am.... I was a little annoyed but hey I'm still going to make it to my game, ( I just needed to let my ride know who's lives 3 hours away from LA that my flight was going to be 3 hours late not to rush) well about an hour later I got another notification that my flight was now being pushed back to 230pm.... at this point I have no choice but to look for another flight.... I found another flight on Southwest leaving Las at 1210pm arriving in lax at 120pm... perfect I can still make my game... That flight was boarding on time... ran into some hiccups on the runway... arrive to lax at 130pm... not a problem can still make my game... sat on the runway at lax until 335.... needless to say I missed the game... while in the air I received another text that my American airline flights was now pushed back to 530pm... mind you my day started at 5am on Las Vegas to catch a flight out at 720am.... Now had I not found that other flight I would have been sitting around Vegas airport for over 12 hours.... I was not a happy flier today, specially because the actual flight is normally no more than 45 minutes start to finish... I could have rented a car and drove... would have been cheaper and I would have made it to my game ...."
Pros: "The crew was great."
Cons: "One of the worst flights ever. The plane was jammed. My seat was in row 20, directly across from the lavatory. The light was one every time they opened or closed the door. I had people standing right next to me with their rear ends in my face. The plane would be fine for a short trip with that many people and such small uncomfortable seats (and I am a little person 5'1"). But to put that many people on a "cattle car" for a 6 hour flight... no bueno. Also, I could not check in online to get seats and I wasn't able to upgrade. My husband was stuck 13 rows behind me. Worst flight ever."
Pros: "My wife and I have flown on many airlines. This was one of our best experiences. All the staff that we came across were ridiculously helpful and very understanding. Despite us getting held up in traffic and running quite late, staff members of both American Airlines and Qantas were extremely calming and reassuring the whole way through. Flight was extremely comfortable and entertainment was fantastic. Made the trip really easy."
Cons: "Food wasn't the greatest. Barely touched the breakfast and dinner meal. Supposedly the flight had free wifi, but I honestly couldn't eat that to work for me."
Pros: "The entertainment selection was prolific, with many many movies to choose from including recent releases. The staff provided plenty of beverages to help the time slide by nicely. The seats had both USB and 110V power outlets which was awesome. The entertainment systems work with regular iPhone headsets which was good."
Cons: "Couldn't get our meal preference selected, Iberia page for the flight check-in didn't work at all, getting a page not found error. Then after calling Iberia, and getting the AA confirmation managed to at least get into AAs web site for the flight, but now it was apparently too late to change our food option, and AA wouldn't work with us at all, the phone agent event LIED on the phone suggesting we could talk to customer service at the airport to have them provide an appropriate meal option. The customer service line was CORDONED OFF at LAX, and getting help out of their agents was like trying to get blood from a stone. The worst customer service experience I've ever had, even than Comcast. Then, I guess this ticket is economy minus, you have to pay more for seats that aren't at the total arse end of the plane. WTF. Economy means economy, not the back end of economy, but now you gotta pay to "upgrade" to regular economy. I can't imagine what that must have been like for families of four with children who are being extorted just so they can sit together. Then at the airport, despite having been assigned a gate, the plane came into a different gate, and we're just sitting there slowly wondering more and more why there aren't many people around. Finally we have to go ask another airlines' desk where our plane is at (it never had a correct gate assignment on the monitors) to figure out where we had to board. No announcement, no agent at the old gate to direct passengers to the correct place. Upon traveling to London on the red-eye, they proceeded to keep the plane completely dark the entire trip. No attempt to help passengers adjust to the destination time zone at all. Trying to open a window resulting in being curtly asked to close it. Jet lag on eastbound transatlantic is bad enough without the airline making it worse. On the return journey the line for the gate was around the corner AFTER boarding had started, and people couldn't board in any sort of order. My entertainment system crashed, when they finally came round with food, I could ask them to reset it. Having paid for the Wifi, which is fine, it's an add-on service, it was difficult to connect to, my phone really struggled to bring up the sign-in page, and I had to reboot my laptop three times, clearing my browser cache to get it to connect. The connection and payment screens were very slow, which was because the wifi overall was very slow. I am sitting on the plane waiting to hear from my father about his critical surgery with my phone dropping on and off the wifi due to slowness and extreme packet loss (>50%). I had been hoping to get some work done on the flight, so much for that idea, I couldn't maintain a solid VPN connection for more than 5 minutes at a time. I will never fly AA again unless they are the last option at a non-horrible price. This was an emergency trip as it was, and booked through Iberia; thanks for nothing Iberia."
Cons: "Check in through website was confusing to do. Flight shows on alaska airlines sight as a united flight. I downloaded the united app, and it tells me my flight is not just through american airlines, but through another carrier, american freedom or aomething like that. Very confusing. I called someone, I think american airlines, by this time completely confused. If there are multiple carrier types, I should be able to input my flight number and my info ahould come up for me to view flight info and check in, or seat assignment. In the end I dowloaded 2 or 3 apps, a confusing phone call, and when i got to rhw intial check in I was not treated well by tsa personnel. Maybe my name triggered thw extra search or something.Anyway, that last part is unrelated but my return flight was kind of a struggle."
Pros: "Good Entertainment. One flight attendant was great."
Cons: "American Airlines Seats were too close together. The plane was way way too hot. Asked the flight attendants and spoke to the captain after the flight as the front coach section of the aircraft was at least 10 degrees hotter than the rear. We were all taking layer of off cloths as it was so hot. Seems the first class attendants were not monitoring the temps which regulars the temps just behind first class. Told the flight attendant who also acknowledged it but the first class attendants did not make the change Many were angry. We were on the Tarmac for almost 1.5 hours waiting for the plane to be de-iced. No AC during the process."
Cons: "- The entertainment system was not working - needed few restarts - on many seats - Food - horrible - Air hostess dropped water on me - not a problem by itself as accidents do happen. However her comment was more annoying - no sorries - not apologies - just said - "oh it's just water - it is refreshing" - Seats pushback was almost broken - it would break your thumb to push the button and then almost stand to push the seat back. - This was transatlantic flight and you charge for liquor? It is not free - you have to purchase - They ran out of red wine (which was free) by the end of the first meal. Do you keep just one bottle for this big 777 fight. - Overall experience was horrible."
Pros: "Good experience all around."
Cons: "15 minutes late. No big deal though"
Cons: "I thought I was booking an Alaska Airlines flight. I booked on Alaska Airlines website. I picked seats. I missed the part in the email I received later saying I didn't have seats. I never received a check in notification email. It took forever to check in at the airport because the the kiosk took a while to pull up my reservation after asking for additional information. I got stuck with middle seats on 5 hour plus flights when I had actually checked to confirm I could still select a window seat before I booked and did indeed select window seats when I booked."
Pros: "got to my destination... eventually.."
Cons: "boarded us then deboarded bc pilots were "at their hours" (why did you make us board if you knew they were close to their hours). handed out 1-800 number cards to rebook. Had to sleep in the Chicago airport on the floor. American Airlines did not offer hotel, no food vouchers, not even a blanket... very disappointed with how they treated everyone. I couldn't even buy a blanket bc all of the stores were closed. I understand that flights get delayed and things happen.. but at least give me a pillow and blanket to sleep in an airport when you force me to stay in an airport for 12+ hours."
Pros: "The flight was short."
Cons: "Once again my flight was delayed, this time 50 minutes!! . Last time i had to stop in Vegas I got stuck there overnigh because my flight had been delayed and to mKe things worse they also managed to Miss my flights connection in Miami after they had booked me a new flight.. With a window seat that had no window. I old the flight attendant that I needed help stowing my backpack in the overhead bin, not because it was that heavy or big, but because the previous flight had been 5 hrs long and after being stuck in the middle seat my back was killing me and lifting my bag over my head would have triggered a muscle spasm. I have a back condition and they refused to help me. She would not even hear me out and insisted on me to check my bag, which I refused to because my laptop and tablet were in there without propper padding to protect them. The same flight attendant had already yelled at a passanger and was making a scene that made several other passengers uncomfortable. i understand the flight was full and they were delayed enough, but the airline clients should not have to pay for the airline's mistakes."
Pros: "The flight was very comfortable. The seats were very roomy. Boarding process was seamless. Staff were friendly and helpful"
Cons: "I had asked for a vegetarian meal when I booked the tickets - this request didn't come through on my booking. I asked again at check-in, they informed me I should have called 24 hours before and organised it. Luckily the flight had vegetarian meal options onboard so I did not starve. The movie selection was not the best. The entertainment unit itself was really good however."
