Pros: "Polite, if overworked, staff. Seating on the new 900-model airplanes is pretty good. Really like that a passenger can sign up for a seat at no extra cost as the time of the booking. Do not change this! Really like that staff get families and wheel-chair bound folks on board first. I fit into neither of these categories, but it is the right thing to do."

One hour delay on return flight. Potentially it could have been another 3 hours. And the plane would have flown in to Oakland or San Jose, not SFO as scheduled. At first the passengers were not told why. Later the crew told us that it was due to fires in No. California and that instrument landings were being required at SFO which meant longer times. With so many Americans traveling these days, provide more seating. Even folding chairs or fold-down seating along the windows would be helpful. Provide more outlets to charge electronic gear while waiting. For faster plane loading, recommend line up by rows such as, yes that one, Southwest does. 900-model airplanes: Lighting is lousy. Fold-down trays cannot be pulled closer to the seat :-("

Cons: "First class was full. Paid to upgrade for what is referred to as Premier class I believe. Was in row 6 seat D. Crammed against the wall. Seats seemed abnormally tiny. Before even boarding the flight, the smell of the lavatory wafted strongly through the jet way. It only got worse from there. From the time we took off to the time we landed, the plane was absolutely saturated in an overwhelming pungent putrid smell, that one could only expect was from the lavatories. That aside, I personally don't understand what constitutes Premier class, or premium-class whichever the case may be. Anyhow, my experiences with Alaska have generally been positive, but this flight however was an absolute disappointment in a number of ways. To be clear, the crew was courteous and professional. I guess it's just been awhile since I have flown in the teeny tiny seats that I guess are considered standard."

I went to that gate and asked if There was room for me, they got me on the flight with no problem, I just had to pay $25.00 Well worth it to not have to sit around for two more hours..."

Cons: "We had delays getting on as the line boarding the plane was backed up. Once on the plane we sat for an hour without pulling away and were told the paperwork was not completed correctly and then they said they had too much weight on plane and offered 7 people $400 vouchers to take a much later flight. When not many takers the pilot or copilot in a threatening voice said well if we don't get enough people to get off then 40 bags would be left behind and arrive a day later! So a few got off. We all ended up having to get off after an hour and wait for another plane as ours had a mechanical problem the entire time and they didn't tell us that to begin with. So instead of leaving Seattle at 1:55we left over 3 hours later and didn't arrive in DC at 10:00pm but arrived at 12:30 am! That forced us to have to pay for a cab to Virginia as my pregnant daughter couldn't leave her sleeping 3 yr old home alone to pick us up."

No folding options. One of our friends has a back pain problems and got stuck for 5 hours. There were seats available upfront and Manager Gina could simply change our seats instead of dry “there is nothing I can do” I am not recommending this airline."

I dont! asked them" pointing out to other crew members, -this is the best part- the female stewardess had clearly visibly a pen in her front shirt pocket! Sitting around and trying to kill time and no pen still. While busy with food and other stuff, i fell asleep. Then after a while when going to the restroom i asked the male steward if he would have a pen please, he pointed out they dont have any pens. ( please note he marked on his check board, who is getting which meal on the first class)"

Two tiny closet bathrooms in the back for all of coach and a much larger one much larger one first class (which is like 5 rows with a mesh curtain for separation). The coach bathrooms are so small a normal person can barely get in and turn around to close the door. I question whether a larger person would be able to actually use them. I also saw the flight attendant actively turn away coach passengers trying to use the first class bathroom when it was open (not standing in the aisle or anything annoying like that). That's ridiculous to have 2 tiny bathrooms for all of coach and also to make people walk all the way to the back of the plane when you are seated much closer to the first class bathroom."

Flying is a demeaning experience where the airlines nickel and dime you for everything. Seats in economy are miniscule, your neighbors are in your laps, the food is objectionable and costly, entertainment non-existent or costly. Customers are cash cows who can be sucked dry for every amenity."

Cons: "Lack of communication - after we had checked in at the airport (under 2 hours before our international flight time) we were notified that our flight was delayed by an hour and 45 minutes. After waiting about 4 hours everyone started lining up in their respective rows and that's when the terminal United employees decided to inform us all that all passengers need to get in line at the desk first in order to get their passports inspected and get an approval stamp before lining up. Could have easily been done in the hour and 45 minutes of delay time we had. It's now 11:30 am, 2 hours past the original flight time and 15 minutes past the original delayed time, and we were all still in our respective lines to board the plane. The delay was due to the catering cart that had not yet arrived. So we were all waiting for about 30 minutes in line just to board the plane. During this time United decided to promote their Entertainment onboard and alcohol available for purchase once we are airborn. Finally when we were on board and about to be airborn is when the first apology was heard from the crew. This could have been managed much more effectively and professionally."

Cons: "Unfortunately I am writing this letter to express my concerns and frustrations toward your stewardess on flight 1050, they were aggressive and condescending. A customer ask if they were serving drinks the male stewardess waved his hand and seemed quite annoyed and stated " mam what do you want to drink". In addition he would walk down the aisle and give you three wafer cookies , I'm wondering why three???? That's because he wanted me to pass them down as if I was in an assembly line rather than handing each customer a cookie. He walked through the aisle with water and never asked if anyone if they would like water. It was almost like he was annoyed at everyone in sight . I have never experienced such behavior on flight. I flew Unites AIrlines plenty of times and NEVER experienced this. The other customers in my row expressed their frustration with the unkindness of treatment during the flight. I understand it's a very hectic weekend with the holiday but there was absolutely no reason to experience such behavior. My party will not be looking forward to using united again!"

If the customer service representatives are not Empowered enough to rectify such an egregious inconvenience, then why do they exist?"

Had to stay in Denver and pay for a $60 cab to take us back to airport after they scheduled us in a hotel clear across town with no shuttle service to even get us back to our rescheduled flight. Their customer service stations Are apparently useless and can't do anything to actually assist anyone."

Cons: "When I got to the gate in Chicago I asked if my seat could be moved next to my friend. The attendant said she would only be able to move me closer and the issued another ticket to me. It ended up being a different persons name from mine. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to board because big her mistake."

Pros: "I liked that, even we departure a little late, the plane made it in time to Cancun. The plane was clean. They had all the variety of drinks."
Cons: "One of the flight attendant was not friendly at all. After we left there was plenty of room on the plane, and I told her that one of my leg was not good and if I could move to a better seat and she said no, IF I want to change the seat I have to pay. The entertainment system was not working at all."

Pros: "Clean, quiet, more leg room than American, comfortable cabin temperature. Great crew."
Cons: "No inflight entertainment, purchase-only snacks, no seat-back displays or USB ports (the aircraft did have a 110V power outlet between the seats for a charger). Expensive wifi available."
