Pros: New and very clean airplane. Appears to be an inch or two more room between the seats on the 787 to and from China. Good boarding procedure.
Cons: The actual flights were ok. The experience at the airports was the reason for the below average rating. They are not set up to handle transit passengers. The signage in English is poor or nonexistant. The overall level of English for the airport staff is very poor. One goes upstsirs/downstairs nunerous times. Because the second portion of WF858 is domestic flight, the passenger needs to exit the terminal and re-enter as an international passenger. Numerous security and passport lines. I found the movie selection to be poor with few non-violent movies available. Will not fly this route again.
Pros: I liked the price of the trip and free hotel for long transit time.
Cons: Early arrival in Xiamen (5am) nothing open and no way to exchange money for taxi or food. Eventually found ATM that solved that problem. Wasn't dressed for or expecting the cold weather. Communications were a problem.
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
Pros: Nothing. never boarded. Took the train instead.
Cons: 1 hour connection. I missed my flight because the flight out of LAX got delayed.
Pros: The flight is easy to check gave us 23kgs check in luggage 46kgs if u have intl flight. Free hotel with breakfast. Not bad at all.
Cons: They require us to get the luggage and check in again tomorrow.
Pros: The seat was comfortable
Cons: The vegetarian ovo lacteo food could be much better. Because I am vegetarian doesn’t mean I can’t eat chocolate
Pros: I slept like a baby the whole way!
Cons: I don't care for the food. It upsets my stomache.
Pros: Got bumped up to a exit seat because the lady who checked me on saw that I was 6'5". 10/10 would fly again
Pros: Food and service was excellent
Cons: No wifi, the entertainment unit required a dual jack head phone set and I couldn’t use my noise canceling headphones. Also had to pay 150 dollars for my 2nd bag. Way too expensive!
Pros: - Excellent leg room for Economy - Adjustable height foot rests - Impeccable service from flight attendants - Decent selection of media entertainment
Cons: - Potatoes overcooked.
Pros: Lots of room, good food, friendly staff
Cons: No complaints at all
Cons: Inconsistent entertainment system
Pros: The flight was comfortable and service was good
Cons: In flight entertainment movies were limited
Pros: Exceptionally trained and attentive staff. Clean plane.
Cons: More entertainment options.
Pros: Free food, 2 hot meals, including special kids meal that can be preorder. Free entertainment, blanket, hood service.
Cons: My son's entertainment console had some issue.
Pros: Food and service on this flight was outstanding.
Pros: We were well looked after by the cabin crew. They came through many times with food and beverage services as well as water. Seats were comfortable enough and there was plenty of room for our carry on luggage. Boarding was on the tarmac and a little chilly but very orderly. Moving through security and customs/immigration at the Nanjing airport is a bit disorganized for in transit passengers but we were patient and the ground staff were very organized and helpful once we were taken to check in.
Cons: The WiFi service did not actually work. Also it is not clear that despite checking in online you still have to check in at the airport too
Pros: This flight was shorter but i felt flight attendants were still very attentive.
Cons: Didn’t have individual screens to watch movies. One movie didn’t have English subtitles. Not that i cared because I was in and out of sleep, just pointing it out.
Pros: The ticketing and boarding process went well.
Cons: The staff was short and rude at times and the food on the return trip was the same two choices for the meals and "breakfast" was a smear of tuna on a huge bun -- basically mostly bread. The movie selection was old and outdated.
Cons: Airline service was bad.
Cons: My flight was delyed i told the stewerdess to check what time we would land she said i would make it in time for connecting flight.
Pros: Stewardesses hard working and nicer looking
Cons: leg room was very poor.
Pros: Nice new airframe, for what that's worth. Attentive staff.
Cons: Food is horrible. It just is. Nothing enjoyable about it. Inedible. Legroom on absolute lowest end of what's tolerable for this duration.
Pros: food fresh, seats great, staff incredible.
Cons: it was ok for me, but maybe someone would be upset that the movie was not in English ( but, flying out of china, of course it would not be in english! ) Just bring a book or music for your own entertainment.
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
Pros: No problems for the price
Cons: Ok no problems for the price
Pros: 787 Dreamliner layout is efficient, generous legroom and recline is better than American carriers. Crew works as team, fast and courteous. Very helpful and professional, Water offered frequently, trash pick up kept cabin neat, bathrooms always clean. Passenger announcements are clear and crisp is English and Chinese.
Cons: Really, no complaints. More entertainment choices would be appreciated however is not my priority.
Cons: the transit in Xiamen after my flight from Hong Kong it was 7 hours I have stay in xi amen. The promotion and/or advertisement saying that I have eight hotel for me to rest in Xiamen or a city tour. After I arrived there.all of those was saying nothing provided today. all I can have is leading me to a lough where just seats, tables for passenger to sit there. provided tea, water, Chinese made coke with natural temperature no ice . just sit there for 7 hours to wait for my connection flight to LAX
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Late
Cons: I missed my flight and had to pay more money to book another flight. I read the time wrong, it was in military time and I missed my flight
Pros: It didn't crash
Cons: 1. The website didn't work so I could not choose my seat upfront, had to seat next to the bathroom, it was hours of torture 2. Absolutely grumpy flight attendants 3. No electronic equipment allowed, even in airplane mode (?? nonsense) 5. I will never, in any case, ever fly Air China again in my life
Pros: Crew was attentive
Cons: My tv screen did not work well. There was a man behind me coughing all 15 hours. I would think that the flight crew would advise him to cover his mouth when coughing or offer him warm tea. Plane was dirty. No ports to charge electronics. Very outdated plane.
Pros: Very professional flight crew
Cons: -10 degrees and people hoarded in a bus to board an international flight that has no access to aerobridge. Vegetarian food for Air China is rice and boiled vegetables. Broken entertainment system. In short, the flight was disappointing
Pros: Crew is always friendly on Cathay. Cathay operates this flight.
Cons: They could have acknowledged my emerald status. They could have upgraded me to premium economy. That’s about all. It was a basic economy seat so not so great. Terrible space under that seat - blocked by video machinery.
Pros: the order of boarding the plane
Cons: food was dry
Cons: The flights got delayed. One of the flights got delayed without a notice in advance.
Pros: This leg was continuation of flight that began in Xiamen. Same plane and crew. 787 Dreamliner layout is efficient, generous legroom and recline is better than American carriers.
Pros: Clean plane. Left on time. Better than average legroom.
Cons: Movie selection was virtually all violent related. Nothing the airline can do about the numerous Security checks passing through this Airport.
Pros: Upgraded to business class for free and service was amazing.
Cons: The crew didn’t help on putting my carry on luggage into the overhead cabinet, I’m not tall enough to do this so I dropped my carry on luggage on the floor. Luckily didn’t hurt any people and a Hong Kong lady helped me on this. Besides, One of my luggage was missing, I’m still waiting for them to let me know where my luggage is. This is the first time I took Asiana Airline, according to all those bad experiences, I doubt whether I’ll take Asiana Airline again.
Cons: 4 hours layover plus 3 hours delay. Horrible.
Pros: n/a
Cons: More subtitled movies in English.
Pros: They are accommodating and respectful
Cons: Fair enough
Pros: Good entertainment selection! Pretty up-to-date movie list, as well as music albums. I liked the food selection as well.
Cons: Quite a tight squeeze, but bearable.
Pros: 1. Friendly crew and attention 2. Affordable direct flight from LAX to XMN 3. Good timing
Cons: 1. Seat cushion is too thin, resulting in painful butt after 12-14 hrs flight 2. The in-seat screen doesn't tilt, thus when front passenger reclined seat, the screen is right in front of your face (less than 5-inches). You need to crank your neck down to watch any programming which results in neck pain 3. Entertainment and food have much room to improve
Pros: Complimentary wifi and excellent crew service
Cons: The econ seat is too low, when front seater tilted the seat backward, the screen is right in front of my face. Entertainment video screen doesn’t adjust; in other words, it cannot be adjust in angle, causing neck pain over time. Meals are average, definitely different from the quality compared to regional or domestic equivalent. Very sad, considering that Xiamen Air has a good reputation inside China. The restroom is also poorly stocked — no toilet roll constantly
Cons: Why is my passport number wrong?
Pros: Flew business class. Cabin crew was some of the most attentive I have experienced. Food was very good and nicely presented. Pillows could be better, but had two. Same with blankets. One thick and puffy, the other lighter. Nice for temperature regulation.
Cons: First leg lax - Tao delayed almost 3 hours. Fortunately the 2nd leg was delayed 1.5 hours. 3rd leg on this itinerary was also delayed, I could have made the flight, but they gave my seat away. It was a bit of a Charlie Foxtrot rearranging flights and overnighting Hotel. 2.5 hours. A supervisor was needed to sort it all out. We will see if the above was bad circumstances or not. I run the same itinerary in reverse on the way home in a week.
Pros: n/a
Cons: More subtitled movies in English.
Pros: Flight attendants were amazingly awesome !
Cons: Foooood Asiana airline foods are worst
Pros: The food was good and the service was super friendly and helpful. We really appreciate kind flight attendants. We also loved how comfortable the Incheon airport was during our stopover.
Cons: There really isn't a lot of selection in the TV series section. It looks like a man chose 3 series that he liked.
Pros:
Pros: I'll give a more complete and less-biased review if I get it back!
Pros: Overall good, comfortable, nice and food and entertainment was very good quality.
Cons: I didn't realized we were on a code share flight from Seoul to Hanoi until we got to check in counter and they couldn't issue boarding pass even though it was a through check in for till Hanoi. In our booking itinerary it was printed as Korean air with a small print that said operated by jinair. It wasn't so bad but the hassle of going to another terminal to board and being in a smaller aircraft after a long flight wasn't the best.
Pros: The crews on the second flight were so loud. Talking and laughing so loud from the back made me uncomfortable.
Pros: Good service, 6 hour flight with 2 free meal!
Pros: Service was great and flight landed safe. Korean food was delicious.
Pros: Nice bathhroom size
Cons: I dont like the 2x seating in business, seats are not up to what they should be, i was glad it was a short flight
Cons: The check in staff did not let me check in and denied to support me! The reason was that my first name, middle name and last name were written in English order, not in Chinese order! I want my money back! All of my plan and meetings in Xiamen were cancelled!
Pros: Crew's Services
Cons: Snacks and water ran out during the last several hours of the flight. For shorter people, their feet would have difficulty touching the floor.
Pros: Empty seats
Cons: Everything else. Staff was rude and did not speak English, food was terrible, and the airport was very confusing. We had a 4 hour layover at Xiamen airport and instead of going straight to our gate, they made us go through immigration, then transfer services, then back through immigration. We landed at 5am, the transfer services open at 6, then check in opens at 6:50, but we weren’t allowed to check in until 8am because our flight was at 10am. We basically stood in line without anyone giving clear instructions and waited at different line ups for 1 hour each. Horrible airplane, horrible airport. Never transferring here again.
Cons: The flight was delayed for 1.5hrs out of Shanghai
Cons: My flight was delyed i told the stewerdess to check what time we would land she said i would make it in time for connecting flight.
Pros: The crew was nice and friendly. The flight was on schedule. Overall, it was a good experience. I definitely recommend checking in online before hand.
Cons: There weren’t individual entertainment screens, but it was a short flight so it wasn’t a big deal.
Pros: Crew are speedy, serious, efficient, friendly and professional
Cons: Breakfast was unhealthy- bread, muffin, crackers..,no nutritional value.
Pros: Comfortable seats in First Class, Flight Crew was very attentive, food was very good as well
Cons: The constant smell of cigarette smoke wafting through the cabin, even though it was a non-smoking flight
Cons: Food
Cons: Only fish and rice were available for the breakfast meal. The seats were too compact for such a long flight. more leg room would be nice.
Pros: The service was hood
Pros: Staff are very nice
Cons: Few selections of movies
Pros: The price. Significantly cheaper than our normal ride on EVA through Taipei. Having said that...won't do it again.
Cons: We travel between the US and Asia a couple of times a year and normally fly on EVA, who has wonderful service and great food. We took Asiana this time because the ticket price was significantly less than EVA. Below are the reasons we won't do it again. 1. The food was awful. My wife had the Asian dishes and I had the Western dishes. Both were well below the quality of food we're used to on EVA. 2. Transit in Seoul. On the way to Bangkok from LA we had 50 minutes to transit Seoul to our next flight. The transit security line was quite long and it was obvious that we, along with a few dozen other passengers, weren't going to be able to make the connection. After much complaining from us and our fellow passengers they ran us through another security line. Rushed to the airplane and made it. On returning to LA from Bangkok it was exactly the opposite. The only option was nearly 8 hours connection in Seoul. But we had plenty of time to negotiate the transit security line. These connect times did not occur because of a last-minute ticket purchase. I purchased these tickets in July for a December/January flight to Bangkok and return. 3. Inflight service was not at the level of EVA. Like any other Asian carrier, the flight attendants were light years ahead of ANY US airline crew, but below the standard of EVA. Waking you up to eat a meal (I typically don't eat dinner at 1AM), etc. I was sleeping with my seat reclined and the flight attendant took it upon herself to upright my seat at meal time and woke me up, presumably so the person in the seat behind me was more comfortable with space to eat their meal, but hey...I purchased the seat to sleep just like the other passenger purchased the seat to eat, so I think I had just as much right to "my space and comfort" as the other passenger did. Just little stuff that doesn't happen on EVA. 4. Inflight entertainment is lacking as compared to EVA. Few movie and TV choices, few game choices. 5. We sat in economy. The seats were not very comfortable. Seems the cushions were thin and it became like sitting on plywood after a while. Legroom on the 747 flight wasn't so great, but there was plenty of legroom on the A380. The A380 seating was still kinda hard, but the legroom sure helped. 6. Boarding process. Poorly organized. Nobody pays a bit of attention to "boarding by row number". Consequently it's a bit of chaos during boarding. The old saying, "you get what you pay for" is true. For a flight of that length I won't choose to save the $200 or so per ticket and will ride on EVA. We've proven to ourselves that EVA is just pretty hard to beat.
Pros: Crew, Food, Boarding, Entertainment.
Cons: My husband and I sat in row 30 (center & aisle). I sat in the center. As soon as the plane took off, we all heard a dog bark nonstop. The lady directly in front of me had brought a dog!! We felt terrible for the person to the lady's left and right. And then in the middle of the flight her dog pooped all over the floor! And the poor Stewardess' (they were SO wonderful) had to clean up the mess. Then the lady had to clean up more pee and poop and left all that mess right in front of my feet and handbag (which I put under the seat)! I had to hold onto my handbag and shoes the entire trip bc it was touching the pile of dirty paper towels! I couldn't eat the meal due to the gross situation, and I was very upset about this situation all bc of this one lady who had no regard for the ppl around her and behind her! I don't know what your policies are concerning bringing a dog on a plane, but it ruined my flight. I love Korean Air, and love the service and the stewardess' professionalism and attentiveness, but this has made me think twice about flying anywhere on Korean Air!
Pros: bibinba(korean food)was very good rfor me.
Pros: Very efficient crew. Good food. Good movies.
Cons: More room around seat.
Pros: Everything. Will definitely chose them again.
Pros: The staff was extremely helpful, including bumping up our seats to the front of the plane.
Cons: The plane was old and cramped. I was dying in there.
Pros: Kept me well hydrated, supplied tissues that helped me bear a long flight while sick. Early arrival appreciated. Fresh fruit was good.
Cons: Crew might have cleared away medications by mistake but they tried hard to find it, inquired all attendants and even looked through the trash. I missed the passing of of declaration forms twice while I was in the bathroom and when we landed the customs people directed me wrong so I had to wait a long time in line to get through customs without water which made me sicker and I had to go to the doctor.
Cons: We meet different problem in this flight. First, the boarding start late and we arrive late more than one hour. They could organize the entrance with range of number. The food was ok, but the beverage is poor, just half glass of wine or juice. no more. one small bottle should be normal fro lunch or dinner.
Pros: The flight is easy to check gave us 23kgs check in luggage 46kgs if u have intl flight. Free hotel with breakfast. Not bad at all.
Cons: They require us to get the luggage and check in again tomorrow.
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Airplane was loud not with crying babies but passengers yelling over one another. Food was mediocre, and plane had no entertainment consoles.
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Like on my earlier review , wine selection awful , cheese selection awful , food terrible , drink selection awfu , entertainment I have seen every movie on there , terrible flight
Pros: Crews are good. The seat has more room for leg.
Cons: Absence of jet-way, unclean flight bad restrooms staff didn't speak or understand english
Cons: No earplugs, TVs are too far away to read the English subtitles.
Pros: We were bussed to the far end of the tarmac to board which seems normal for this airline out of Nanjing. The step stairs would be a problem for anyone with mobility issues. Seats are comfortable enough and the inflight entertainment has several options for current movies, tv, audio or games. Mine worked on the flight home but not the outbound flight. Meals were plentiful but not to my liking, catered to the majority of the travellers which is reasonable. There were some vegetarian meals available to those that requested previously. They came around many times with beverage service and water as well. Language is a bit of a barrier but if you are patient you can figure it out. Very happy overall with the experience we had at the price we paid.
Cons: Food options were limited. Boarding was a long process by bus out to the tarmac.
