I flew from Columbia to Guatemala with plans to leave Guatemala by boat last year and had to buy another ticket only to cancel it later. I talked to Immigration in Guatemala and they say there is no reason for you to do this. I just returned from Panama and was asked for an exit ticket from Guatemala again. I have warned all of my friends to travel with other airlines other than Copa only for this issue. I will never travel on Copa again until you fix this."

Because of the cancellation of my original flight, I also missed my connecting flight."

The service was good during the flight, but booking process was arduous due to mysterious partial cancellation (on the return leg), which took me 1 whole day to connect to the RJ’s NYC ticketing department to straighten it out. The reservation line of RJ customer service said they did not have the authority to un-cancel it, nor refund the ticket. To undo, I would have to email the NYC office and wait 5-6 days for reply, while my departure is 5 days away. Then the NYC phone number given (and I also found on their website) had no one answering, until I got someone in accounting or HR department to transfer me to ticketing dept. Then the seat upgrade at the gate only takes cash, no CC. From speaking with other tour mates, other airlines were given them the similar headache too - cancelling part of the trip without rescheduling options.

After being in the air for about 45 minutes we were informed that there were issues with the engine and that we would be turning around and heading back to Dallas. By this point it was after midnight, and although I was appreciative that safely is a priority, there was no communication as to what the next steps were. After landing we were finally told that we would have to deplane, and after we sat around the gate for awhile we were informed that the flight would be delayed until 5 am. Being 12:50 am at this point a hotel would have been nice, but we were informed that AA was "out of hotels" but that if we wanted we could have a $12 food voucher to use at the one restaurant that was open several terminals over. The AA employee assisting in handing out the food vouchers seemed extremely unapologetic about the situation which didn't help with the frustration everyone was feeling. I will not be booking with AA again, and will be passing along my negative experience to family and friends. It is worth spending the extra money on a ticket for an airline that is more reliable with better customer service."

I get through that line, look at the departure board - wait IT'S ON TIME?! They start boarding soon if it's on time and it's a further gate so I run down there and guess what? Delayed an hour. Okay, that's fine. Go grab something to eat, come back, settle in for a little bit, board - on my sweet way. Go grab some food quickly, come back - another hour delay? What the heck? I must've missed an announcement. Guess I should plug in my phone for the wait, I expected to meet some friends and potential clients layer that night, communication is key. I misplaced my charger, no big deal just went and got one of those power rods (highly recommend) and come back - ANOTHER HOUR?! That's pretty insane. One of my friends flying from Dallas that departed at 7:30 could be up in the air before I am. Step aside, give him a call to update, call potential clients letting them know I will be delayed getting there. No issue. Turn around - my goodness well what do you know, another hour! At this rate I call my hotel, because I can't lose my reservation if I can't check in on time. Hotel was the waterfront crowne plaza (another highly recommended item in this review by me). I plant in my seat, set my roots, meet a few nice people. Figuring I'd kill some time by meeting some great people. Met a family from Detroit and got some awesome food recommendations. Randomly over the speaker - we have another delay - another HOUR delay. Well this is just turning into a horror story, will I ever get there? Should I request a new flight? My buddy in Dallas departed 3+ hours after I was supposed to, and was up in the air already (he landed before me too). At this rate I cancel my meeting. We board, we take off, we land. Woman sitting next to me was nice. Plane didn't crash. Just landed in Detroit about 7+ hours later than expected. All in all, don't take spirit. Looking at prices they are the cheapest, not by a huge margin though. Pay the extra 70 or so dollars to take another airline. Even if it's $150 dollars more, take the other airline. They want to charge you 65 dollars for a carry-on. Their website was created by a 12 year old. Simply getting your boarding pass includes cross and up sells that make the process 10x more frustrating, especially when you know what you're dealing with on the second flight back. (By the way spirit if you can read this I'm a consultant for advertising, digital media, and UI for e-commerce - I can help you with your terrible website and the offers that come along with it) Just take the other airline, any other. It won't save you money most likely, but it will save you a lot of headaches, time, and embarrassment."

I think of all the flight attendants on my first flight only one was pleasant and professional as a flight attendant is expected to be... the 2nd flight was a little smoother in the since that the flight attendants were warm and welcoming however After a long day of traveling and flight delays I wanted to rest and I immediately noticed the seats did not recline not even a little, and the tray tables were the size of an iPad mini... it was very hard to get even a little comfortable for the almost 5 hour flight.. it was very uncomfortable.... then there's the baggage fee. $57 for a carry on I would rather pay the extra $57 to fly with a better airline... and to get to the airport and be told that they only accept cards for baggage fee no cash... who doesn't accept cash?? Especially in a place like Vegas. It was unbelievable.. but they conveniently had atm like machines that can turn your cash to card for a $5 fee.... it seems like they advertise the airline to be less expensive than others but in reality they're not!! They nickel and dime you with all of these fees to the point that you eventually end up paying the same price it would cost for a better airline only difference is you pay the same price and still get crappy service... I would never Spirit again. That was my first and last time, and I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone else."

Cons: "They were deceitful about baggage allowed so I ended up paying an extra $150 t only to find out I didn't need to pay for 2 bags and could not get a refund. The counter people were worthless, rude and could care less about anything. The flight was 2+ hours late because crew members were late. I will never fly Spirit again"

Cons: "Spirit's check-in process and practice of extorting fees for every little thing proved more annoying than the responding discount. Because the ticket kiosks at the airport were broken, I almost missed my flight, and because they've economized even on seat-back pockets, I had no where to accessibly store my laptop and books. I will avoid Spirit if I can next time."
Cons: "Cancelled our flight with almost no notice, after we checked our bags and were ready to go. Made the whole flight wait in a line for up to an hour for a voucher and the next spirit flight to LGA from DTW was 24 hours later, meaning we had to cancel our whole trip as we were heading there for an event. Terrible experience, horrible customer service."
Cons: "I paid more money during check in to an upgrade seat. Once on the plane, other passengers sat WHERE EVER they wanted. The staff had problems with accountability because seat numbers and ticket assignments were completely ignored. What good is a seat assignment if staff ignores the flight manifest. In the future I will no longer fly spirit because you do not value my upgrade. I feel you have unfairly taken my upgrade money only to find out that passenger's can ignore the upgrade costs and sit anywhere in the plane."

Cons: "My flight was not crowded at all, which is very nice as a traveler. However the crew would not let some move seats until well after take off and cruising began. We were told it was due to take off and landing. If landing was so important, why did we not have to move back to the original seats?"

Cons: "I'd give it no stars if I could because the flight never left. They delayed it due to weather, then canceled due to crew time expiring. All well and good, but the next flight out they had available seats on was 4 days later, on Monday. Since I had to be in a wedding, I kind of had to fly out, so I ended up paying $900 (!!!!!) on a last minute flight on delta. I'll never try to save money up front again. Spirit assured me I'd have a refund in 5-7 business days, which was clearly useful in helping me buy my ticket to actually get to my destination."

Cons: "From the comfort level to the attitude of the desk staff to the customer service when I attempted to call about my flight to the fact that Spirit's only excuse is that their flights are somehow cheaper--which, they really truly aren't--I have never had a worse flight experience in my whole life. In fact, once I discovered how terrible this airline is, I went online to discover that pretty much everyone feels the exact same way. How is this airline even in business?"
