There were no meals available for purchase on the plane as they had only stocked the flight for one leg of the trip and not the return leg. We were told at check in that we would have to pick our bags up in Detroit before getting on our connection to Toronto. In fact they were actually checked through. Due to the delays we missed our connection in Detroit. The Delta Agent was rude and did not want to give us a hotel voucher. She also said the next flight she could book us in was 24hrs later. She was unwilling to book us on an earlier flight with a different carrier. After we got her supervisor involved we were given a hotel and booked on an early flight the next day. I would not fly Delta again if I had the choice."

She first snapped that the seat assignments were on a television screen overhead then told just to use the seat request form to board and it would print a seat assignment . When I tried to explain I needed an assignment for the next flight also she again snapped st me saying do you have an hour or more. I responded "no only 40 minutes "at which time she asked my name and printed me a boarding pass for that flight. From the time she finally asked my name and printed the boarding pass it took about 10 seconds so I'm not sure what was so inconvenient . She never smiled once and gave no response to my thank you . There were no other passengers behind me so she was not busy. I always fly Delta and have always found their staff to be helpful and polite."

They even made smart remarks about people going to the bathroom when we pulled back in... I feel some of them acted extremely unprofessional and I truly never want to fly with this company again."

They obviously did not arrive with the advised amount of time allowance. It wasn't my fault I arrived with plenty of time and I had to deal with the verbal abuse from people having to go ahead. Maybe if they missed their flight, next time they would arrive earlier with enough time. It sure wasn't a very pleasant experience at all."

Cons: "Flights were cancelled due to ice in Detroit which is understandable, but Frontier couldn't rebook my flight until three days later! I am much wiser now as I realize that only one flight per day in and out of Detroit can really have a negative impact on one's travel schedule. The money I spent over those 3 days far exceeded the ticket price of other carriers."

Between kayak and Frontier, they have mastered de-bundling and "the bait and switch" concepts. They got us this time....not good for building customer loyalty. So long kayak and Frontier."

Cons: "Too many extra charges, reminded me of Spirit Airlines, which I no longer fly for the same reason. And there was little to no space around my seat - the seatbacks do not recline, the tray table is a small shelf. I was not comfortable for nearly 3 hours. :("
Cons: "Trip was cancelled. Bought insurance, called to cancel flight, and even though I bought insurance, would not reimburse. Said business cancelled trip was not covered. Will not use this again. What's the point in flight insurance if you can't use it for something as simple as the bus meeting is cancelled? Horrible."

Only problem is that Spirit has mastered the art of turning the once glamorous air travel industry into an experience similar to riding a city bus in Detroit. Yes, a city bus with wings. And a pilot."

Pros: "The fact we didn't sit on the plane for an hour after boarding on time so they can kick people off the plane for over booking like they did on the way back."
Cons: "I got an email at 8am saying my flight could be delayed but should show up on time. My flight was at 4:55pm so great start there. So I show up an hour and a half ahead of boarding, which is on the latter side for me. Security lines weren't very long, they just took their time which wasted everyone else's. I get through that line, look at the departure board - wait IT'S ON TIME?! They start boarding soon if it's on time and it's a further gate so I run down there and guess what? Delayed an hour. Okay, that's fine. Go grab something to eat, come back, settle in for a little bit, board - on my sweet way. Go grab some food quickly, come back - another hour delay? What the heck? I must've missed an announcement. Guess I should plug in my phone for the wait, I expected to meet some friends and potential clients layer that night, communication is key. I misplaced my charger, no big deal just went and got one of those power rods (highly recommend) and come back - ANOTHER HOUR?! That's pretty insane. One of my friends flying from Dallas that departed at 7:30 could be up in the air before I am. Step aside, give him a call to update, call potential clients letting them know I will be delayed getting there. No issue. Turn around - my goodness well what do you know, another hour! At this rate I call my hotel, because I can't lose my reservation if I can't check in on time. Hotel was the waterfront crowne plaza (another highly recommended item in this review by me). I plant in my seat, set my roots, meet a few nice people. Figuring I'd kill some time by meeting some great people. Met a family from Detroit and got some awesome food recommendations. Randomly over the speaker - we have another delay - another HOUR delay. Well this is just turning into a horror story, will I ever get there? Should I request a new flight? My buddy in Dallas departed 3+ hours after I was supposed to, and was up in the air already (he landed before me too). At this rate I cancel my meeting. We board, we take off, we land. Woman sitting next to me was nice. Plane didn't crash. Just landed in Detroit about 7+ hours later than expected. All in all, don't take spirit. Looking at prices they are the cheapest, not by a huge margin though. Pay the extra 70 or so dollars to take another airline. Even if it's $150 dollars more, take the other airline. They want to charge you 65 dollars for a carry-on. Their website was created by a 12 year old. Simply getting your boarding pass includes cross and up sells that make the process 10x more frustrating, especially when you know what you're dealing with on the second flight back. (By the way spirit if you can read this I'm a consultant for advertising, digital media, and UI for e-commerce - I can help you with your terrible website and the offers that come along with it) Just take the other airline, any other. It won't save you money most likely, but it will save you a lot of headaches, time, and embarrassment."

Cons: "never got there because we were told to leave the plane and get rebooked, checked bag was also removed. we were informed over 2hrs later that our bag was in carousel 13 and that our plane had left and was on it's way to detroit. they claimed that the sever weather caused us to miss our flight when it was spirit telling us to leave the plane to get rebooked and making us miss our flight."

Cons: "Rough takeoff and landing. I said a prayer upon landing- didn't think we would make it. The wings were going up and down on either side even as we landed. We were safe, but I was nervous for my flight home."
Cons: "I canceled the flight five times and spirit kept telling me they would send me a credit to use towards future travel. I never got that credit. Customer service was terrible. Each time I called the person on the other end was difficult to work with and in the end I lost over $400 dollars. I had to cancel the trip because of an emergency surgery and I tried to cancel it over a month ago. I'm very disappointed"

Cons: "By 10am my 6pm flight was delayed 3 hours. Part of the reason I booked this flight is that it would get me to Detroit before 9pm. The delay put the flight departing at 9pm. I had to book a flight with a different airline in order to get in town on time. How you can have a 3 hour delay 8 hours before a flight is supposed to leave is absolutely ridiculous."
Cons: "I was told I could not be issued a boarding pass because it was too close to takeoff. I then purchased an outrageously priced one way ticket to get home on another airline. Before taking off on that flight, I received an email saying that my original flight was delayed 2+ hours, even though I had checked the status of that flight up until I walked up to get my boarding pass. This email was sent to me 5 minutes before the delayed flight was scheduled to take off. Spirit said that they could not help me at all and the issue ended up costing me $370. I will not be flying with Spirit ever again."

Pros: "Unlike all of the horror stories I've read online, my flight was early both to and from my vacation. The flight attendants were nice and entertaining (moreso than the gate agents)."
Cons: "Seats weren't very comfortable, although I knew what I was getting into. Really the least enjoyable part of the flight was what seemed like a lot of strict regulations about luggage and check in times. This all ended up being perception. Once I got to the airport, it was really smooth. One suggestion would be to allow passengers to use a mobile boarding pass. It took me forever to find a printer!"

Charged $42/check in luggage, $55+ at the counter, unable to speak to any agent at the counter because they couldn't handle the crowd and the number of flight delays. Waited 1.5hrs in a line that didn't move. By the time I can't back for the flight the counter was closed. Checked in luggage at gate finally but with trouble. Overall after the trouble and the extra charges and costs, a budget airline is no longer budget."

In the end, I don't believe I saved any money taking this supposedly budget airline, and it was a far worse experience than if I had just taken United. The website didn't work when I tried to check in, and the people at the check-in counter were rude and unhelpful. The boarding crew didn't bother to make any announcements when our flight was a half hour late. It took well over an hour for us to get our bags once we landed, and Spirit's baggage customer service people yelled at us for asking about the status of our bags. They say you get what you pay for, but I ended up paying a lot and getting nothing for it. Won't be taking Spirit again."
