I have guitar when I fly, they don’t allow to take the guitar with you on board even the bins was empty

The crew was very friendly and professional. The food was great. The check-in process took a long time, more than 20 minutes.

Cons: "Kayak doesn’t specify its two separate tickets for my destination to kochi from Honolulu, also they didn’t specify their would be a stop in Japan before the flight reached Singapore. The flights were delayed by a few minutes, which led to me stressing to make it on time to my flights, and I felt dehydrated and nauseous. Also the website doesn’t specify that we will have to purchase meals either before hand or on board, and that the airlines only took cash and no credit card. It was miserable, a whole 20+ hour flight with lots of stress of catching my flight, checking and the checking my baggage, and being hungry and thirsty because I didn’t carry enough cash on me."

What bothered me even more is that when the woman asked the flight attendant to tell me to put my seat up, the flight attendant complied instead of telling the woman it was my seat to do as I wished. Why make the seats recline if they are going to bother the people behind? Why tell me to put my seat up if it was not a requirement for all (ie during take off or landing)? I did not appreciate this and it made my flight extremely uncomfortable."

Why can't USA folks and TSA figure this out? Updates from flight deck were good and pilot seemed to avoid some expected turbulence. Cabin crew friendly, competent, helpful. Food was very good, nice touch with comp wine. Entertainment options were many and good variety. Hope to fly ANZ again someday."

Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia kept handing me off to each other since it was booked as virgin Australia but on an air New Zealand flight. Neither wanted to help at first. Finally virgin Australia ticket agent took pity and helped me rebook for the next day. This was after I was told by air New Zealand that I had to call the booking number for virgin Australia. I’m traveling from the US and didn’t have a cell phone that worked in Australia... which I explained and asked how I could call the number without a phone. Was promptly told to go over to Virgin Australia ticket counter where I made the one remaining agent who was closing the desks help me. However the airport lost my luggage and could not find where it was. I ended up spending three hours in the airport and still no luggage with the baggage company saying they have no record of it anywhere. Very frustrating trip."

These parents aren’t held to any modicum of manners or basic respect for the other passengers around them. Hawaii is a healthy place and should be represented in the meal on the plane. The food was bland and for someone to who doesn't eat a lot of meat it was very disappointing. Furthermore, the fact that there was NO movie on the way there and the in flight entertainment wouldn't work on my computer was really disappointing. Then on the way back I had to pay to watch!? I'm fuming about this. I HATE that airlines are doing this. It is greedy and gross."

The crew gave me the seat on the way there because their system was not working correctly and didn't tell me I would have to pay for it on the way back. Upon my return I was unable to print out my return flight boarding pass without paying for the upgrade."

The limited choice of movies involving non-juvenile topics - would have appreciated at least 4 or 5 films to select from that involved some kind of sophistocated comedy, mixed with a touch of drama or high-quality story line. (Did select "The Big Sick" which was of very high calibre, but no other choices existed that were similar to this style blending comedy with deeper and reflective themes.) The small sizes of the snacks, which were actually very tasty (chicken teriyaki warm sandwich and potato chips)."

The few times i've flown with hawaiian (3 this year) each time i try to use the app at the airport it fails, so i have to print out my boarding pass. The ios hawaiian app is not even an app, it's like a slimmed down browser just displaying a web page formatted for a smartphone screen size. What a poor excuse of an app. Do you have an application department devoted to maintaining this app? If so they are horrible. Go look at the ios reviews of the app, i'm not the only one. I can't wait for more competition to come to hawaii against your flights. You folks won't do a thing until some alternative airlines come down."

Any movie even old like Beatle juice for example was 7.99 per movie, tv shows were also 7.99. I have fly about every couple months both in USA and internationally, and all US carriers are by far the worse service."

Cons: "We were not assigned seats when we purchased our tickets. We called to try to get seat assignments and they told us to talk to a gate agent. When we went to the airport to checkin, there were NO gate agents at checkin. You had to check in on a computer and then drop our bag at the agriculture screening point. We went to guest services and they told us to go to the gate. We went to the gate and it was closed with no one there. We asked information and they sent us to guest services. Guest services then got snippy with us and told us to wait at the gate. So, we didn't even know if we would be able to sit together or if we'd be stuck with middle seats on the 5 hour flight until an hour before the flight left. Ultimately, our seats were fine, but the fact that no one could or would help us and the help that was there was completely useless and kind of nasty, convinced us to NEVER FLY HAWAIIAN AIRLINES AGAIN. Oh, and on the plane, they have an inflight entertainment screen on each seat, however, you have to pay for EVERY movie on it. This was not the case on Alaska Airlines, where entertainment was free."

The touch-screens at each seat were frustratingly and unpredictably unresponsive. The check-in process in Honolulu Airport for Hawaiian Airlines was hands-down the most time-consuming, confusing, and crowded one I have ever been through. Kiosk screen had too much info at once so even savvy kiosk users were very slow to go through process. We had already checked in online 24 hrs prior but that didnt save us any time as we had to stand in the kiosk lines with everyone else to print our bag tags then another line to just drop our bags. Entering this check-in area was a shock to the system as it looked like a mass of people. We were directed to a vague direction where our line should be, then after standing in that line for 10 minutes we were told by a fellow customer that we had to go to a different line amd basically start over. Then came the security check line. We made it to the front looking the whole time for a designated spot to dump our kids' water bottles out (our San Diego airport has a liquid dumping spot with a sign), to no avail. Finally at the front of the line the TSA agent is about to check our boarding pass and my husband inquires about where to dump the water bottles. The agent and front of the line line is situated less than 10 feet from the wall where a drinking fountain is, but of course in our way there is a plastic half-wall barrier (the one to guide the line toward her). She tells us we have to dump it there in the drinking fountains. However the kicker is we have to get out of line to do it--can't be let out and come back to her. Have to wait in the security check line again. No, I'm not kidding. So I decide to take all water bottles and my husband takes the kids on through the security check. When I come back to get back in the security check line the person working at the entrance of that line actually was asking every single person whether they had water--guess she forgot to ask us the first time we went through... bummer. We had arrived at the airport more than 3 hours before our Tuesday 2pm flight. With stopping to eat lunch in the terminal and going through these multiple lines, by the time we got to our gate, boarding had already begun. Boarding from gate to plane went fine."

I booked a direct flight but because a restroom issue, flight stopped and 2-hour delay was added. any movie is the price a movie theater ticket $8! For an 11-hour flight, it could be free or at least few old movies should be available in the complimentary package."

Everything was fine it was just cold

The airport needs to have some type of shuttle for passengers who have to make connecting flights between Hawaiian Airlines & Delta for example. I’m 65 & my sister who was with me is 70, lugging our luggage from one end of the airport to the other was extremely difficult.

The staff was the highlight. Only thing that could have been better was the temperature on the flight from Hawaii to Seattle. The plane was too cold to get comfortable

I loved the hospitality of the crew, they were a great crew. What I didn’t like was how the airport I was going to be in for a layover closed down due to it raining in the area. I missed my connecting flight, and got put on a flight that departed 8 hours from the time I arrived to the airport. I also have no news on where my luggage is.
