Pros: "I was recovering from a cold and didn't anticipate having ear problems but during decent I began to experience some pain. It was all new to me as I had never been through this before. Fortunately the crew was kind and they provided a sinus decongestant in a cup for me to sniff and breath in so the smell could open up my nasal passages and it helped a bit."

Best part is, the seat was sky couch or premium economy and she let me use it. If it would be other airlines they would mindlessly refuse it. High level of courteousy and sense of exellent service displayed. All airlines should learn"

I really wish the other three crews could have kept this momentum going as my other flights with ANZ were less than thrilling! The flight attendant staff was phenomenal on my iah to akl leg. My crew on the akl to iah leg. Brandon gave the initial intro and seemed to follow the original crews standards. Unfortunately, we had an older flight attendant who seemed less than thrilled to be with us this flight."

The customer service agent in Kona was able to book out baggage straight through to Papeete which saved us the hassle of picking up baggage in Honolulu and checking it in again."

Allow people to move and spread out in these cases it's just rude and greedy to keep these seats empty when everyone is crammed in tight through out the plane."

Pros: "For some reason the plane was swapped to the newer models so some of our group got upgraded to extra comfort since extra is given to rows 11-21 on the new planes. Row 13 was non existent anymore to make room for the lie flats so gave my in laws the extra comfort we had in row 14 and upgraded our flights to business class. Totally worth it and paid just $370 to upgrade since we got credit for the amount we paid for extra comfort ($495 - $125 credit). On a 10 hour flight it made a huge difference since we got to stretch out, nap and enjoy amazing food while being ultra comfy! I would recommend on the longer flights for sure and when you upgrade w/in 24 hours its way cheaper than the $2500+ cost that it normally would be."
Cons: "The iPads they give in Biz class are great for viewing but there was definitely less movie choices than in the main cabin. Probably only a handful of new releases versus what the main cabin had. Made a diff since i didn't want to watch Harry Potter 1-7 and it was a 4 movie long flight! Still not bad but would have loved to see all the same titles on the iPad for us to view."

Providing snacks and dinner vouchers while we waited for a new plane was a nice touch. But too many mechanical and/or electrical issues with this airline."

Then had to suffer through an emergency landing due to hydraulic failure on the flight back to New York. Was not a fun experience watching the fuel being dumped into the ocean for an hour."

However you did let my wife's wheelchair on without payment thanks for that. I am an ex pilot so it is difficult for your staff to try and explain weight ratios, and the dangers of extra weight.. Then being made to take 1 point something kilos into another lighter bag. However the staff were very good about it. not their fault that they find themselves having to talk through something that just doesn't ad up. However we enjoyed the flight, and the help we received transferring from a very late plane to one almost waiting in Fiji. :-)"

Cons: "My Fiji flights between Honolulu and Auckland were cancelled so they rebooked me on Jetstar and New Zealand Airways Apparently the international date line was not taken into account and I arrived in Sydney hours after my connecting flight to Auckland had already left! I talked to 7 different people in all corners of Sydney airport and no one knew what to do with me. My attempts to call Fiji Airways from my cell phone and then a landline at the airport didn't go through so I ended up messaging a friend in the States and she was able to call and get me booked on a NZ Air flight to Auckland that left the next morning. Both Jetstar and NZ Air gave me different information on what paperwork I needed and what my baggage and carry-on allowance was, which was frustrating. I finally arrived in Auckland 26 hours later than scheduled. I understand the cyclone cancelling the Fiji flights but the rescheduling error caused some significant expenses and a great deal of hassle."

Check in process is a nightmare without any automated options that backs everything up. When I arrived in Los Angeles and found that two zippers had been torn from my bag and one pocket open, the baggage staff scoffed at my claim and told me to go speak to a third party that handles baggage claims... I’ll just steer clear next time."

Cons: "The young crew on the Manila to Singapore flight could have seen the journey as more of an opportunity to actually do their job rather than a chance to sit at the back chatting. When I approached one for a hot water bottle as it was freezing, she screwed up her face at my request and turned and spoke to her colleague in a language I couldn't understand making me feel uncomfortable. One of the worst things though was the food. Throughout the whole flight from Oahu to Singapore, there were no vegetarian options (even the mid flight sandwich had ham and cheese). Further, you were served a hot meal almost within an hour of being in the air, then had to wait about six hours for the snack and then another hot meal was served within three hours of that at a very rushed pace making the experience very unenjoyable. This happened on the way to oahu also so it is something that they practice regularly. Terminal 2 at Manila is also terrible if you have a long layover!"

After the security check we were sent outside where buses were driving to claim our checked-in luggage to take it for another check just to drop it one minute later. Anywhere in the world if you board a flight with a stop-over you see your luggage at the final destination, not the case if you fly trough Manila."

Meals - Mains were ok, deserts were terrible in both of my flights. Snacks were also bad, a scone and beef and cheese sandwich. Very blend, white bread only and oily. We weren't served enough bevarages, so oily and high-carb foods made me very thursty. No water fountains, it'd be great to have some around since staff does not give enough beverage and I was forced to chuck my water before boarding the airplane (the water I bought in the airport after passport check!!!!!!!) It was extremely cold."

Pros: "I flew PAL 2 years ago and was impressed on this flight home. An awesome added feature that blew me and my 10 year old daughter away was the entertainment! My daughter is afraid of flying. But as soon as we boarded and saw this feature, she completely forgot about her fear. She was so pre-occupied during entire flight to Manila that I was able to relax and enjoy the trip myself. There was a great selection of movies available that almost made me wish the flight was longer so I could watch more! The USB charging option was also a neat feature to have. I could easily charge our phones throughout the flight. I was also impressed with how well staffed the crew was. There was always a crew member going up and down the aisle with water and offering assistance in any way possible. Overall I am happy with the flight. PAL has made the trip home easier, more pleasurable and most importantly closer than ever before. Thank you PAL!"

In Manilla all their flights were severely delayed. In country this is a running joke."

To top it all I get an email from PAL at 1.56am (I saw this after arrival of course) which said the plane had changed its arrival time to 9.30am - but the departure time remained the same!!! How am I also going to receive an email when I am already flying?? Food was aweful Entertainment system was also aweful - my future flights on PAL will be only a last resort"

If United could put dimmable screens on the tablets it would help create an environment conducive to sleep, which is what most passengers want on a redeye flight. Alternatively, privacy screens would cut down on the shared glare. As it was, the flight was a nightmare."

At which point the desk agent made the announcement she would no longer take bags. Luckily my bag was small enough to be considered a carry on so I just went to security. I don't know what people with large bags behind me did? then it takes another 45 mins to get through security at which point they see my 5 inch knife on X-ray machine. Which I packed 3 days earlier when I planned to check my bag. Lost the knife, fine, my fault, goodbye favorite pocket knife. but now I am randomly selected for explosives LOL by TSA. I get to the gate the gate agent scans a ticket for the person infront of me. I step up and the same gate agent puts her hand over the scanner and says sorry it is late!? There were 6 other people behind me and this is a 22 person plane. So I still not upset walk back out of the security area because TSA closes the area in between flights and call United. They get me on the next flight out and rescheduled my following flight only a 3 hour wait. An hour goes by and the first desk agent, they have been holding the first flight because enough people aren't onboard. SLB is a joke."
