Pros: "The Captain was well spoken and informative. The entire crew really seemed to care. They were so efficient. All of this happened in white-out conditions, on the Sunday after Thanksgiving—the busiest travel day in history! They were AWESOME. And the gate agents took advantage of 3 people who didn’t show to let my family sit together, which I really appreciated."

Cons: "Our flight was delayed 3 times; from 10:40pm to 12:55am to 1:25am because “the copilot was late on his flight from Chicago.” When another American flight arrived around midnight and their copilot offered to step in (he had not exceeded his flying hours), he was refused by management. Exhausted passengers were extremely angry. Each time the flight was delayed, the gate agents waited until the “Boarding in...” status screen reached 0 before announcing the next delay. Not cool."

Pros: "Flight attendants were friendly and in-flight entertainment was good, including easy access to power ports."
Cons: "Delayed about an hour due to weather. However, another 2 hours spent screwing around sitting on the plane after boarding because no one anticipated DCA restrictions. Then on arrival sat another 30 minutes waiting for a gate. Adding insult to injury, took about 40 minutes to get luggage. Weather is understandable, but the rest was just mismanagement."

Cons: "AA lost put my checked baggage onto a different flight during my layover in Philly to my final destination. After losing my baggage, it took them over 24 hours to return it to me, telling me that it would only be "another hour" till they would deliver it to my house. No airline is perfect, but I don't like being lied to about my baggage not being transferred properly to my final flight, nor do appreciate how they kept giving me vague estimates and round-a-bout answers about my checked bag which they lost in the first place. If I can help it, I will never fly with American Airlines again; they have lost my business!"

Cons: "American Airlines lied to us that this flight was canceled. They made me go to the ticket counter to book another flight. While standing in line, my husband found out it was not canceled, but they were boarding the plane. The porter that pushed my mother in the wheelchair was able to get our bags checked. No American Airlines employee would help us. They just said to go back to the end of the line. The porter called the gate to have the plane wait for us. American Airlines DISCRIMINATES especially against the elderly!"

Cons: "My checked bag, which l paid $25.00 for, didn’t make it on the flight to Pittsburgh. It got there on another flight at 7:30 pm Monday night but no one from American Airlines did anything about trying to get it to me until 11:30 pm. As a result, while l stayed at a hotel only 30 miles from the airport, my bag wasn’t delivered until 2:00 am on Tues, more than 8 hours after l got there. And their website for supposedly checking on lost luggage, aa.com/bag status, is next to useless. It gives no useful information. Use the 800 # but state you want to talk with a human when answering the questions in their phone tree. I’ve had other experiences on AA over the last few years that lead me to question their commitment to customer service. I’ll be avoiding American Airlines as a travel option where other alternatives are available."

Pros: "Direct flight, sketchy weather but we arrived pretty close to “on time”"

Pros: "Comfort and roominess of seat, after switching seats with another passenger who requested it to be closer to her boyfriend. Great take off and landing. Crew was attentive. Entertainment system at each seat was awesome."
Cons: "Although the food was better on my trip back to NY from Rome, it was not the best."

Cons: "It apparently was not noticed until the last minute that the plane parked at the designated gate was not the right plane. Just as we were ready to board, had to change gates. the announcement of new gate was not in clear English. Instead of saying 'C' as in Charlie, just C3, which sounded like a D, which would have been a concourse change. Little things, but they add up, when your previous flight was late on arrival."

Pros: "Our flight was delayed overnight in Las Vegas, which was hassle but unavoidable due to weather and pilot flight hours restrictions. But the ground crew and American Airlines worked very hard to compensate all the passengers: gave us each a voucher for hotel, 2 meals, round trip shuttle ride for hotel and airport. Good work to make up for a bad situation."

Cons: "I bought some items when I was in Belize I get to Dallas to check my items into my bag and American Airlines has one person checking in bags and one guy standing in the hallway with a red coat on telling us where to go so I stood in the line for and hour and ended up loosing my items and missed my flight so I'm on a seven hr wait cause American Airlines can't get bags checked in on time"

Cons: "The bathroom on the flight from Denver to Santa Barbara was the WORST EVER! I doubt it has ever been cleaned and the poor people that had seats near or at the rear of the plane should have been refunded their money having been subjected to the smell of an “indoor outhouse!” Shameful!!"

Pros: "The range of 'free' food and beverages (including beer, wine, and liquor was phenomenal, and the functionality of the 777 touch-screen was outstanding. Seating was also more comfortable than comparable flights on AA."

Multiple people missed their connecting flights within minutes. They kept us on the plane in Boise then deplaned and re-boarded. No coffee on flight."

Pros: "Very pleasant attentive crew and ground staff. An aborted takeoff on tarmac meant a return to the departure gate and the plane taken to maintenance. The ground staff were superb in dealing with a full plane load of passengers many of whom had onward connections. This meant we had to stay overnight and fly first thing the next morning. Full marks to United for dealing with a potentially dangerous situation and then assisting everyone back in the terminal."

Cons: "That a bunch of travelers including myself missed our connecting flight in Chicago after united chamged our arrival gate but didn't have any crew to man the jet way. We sat for 20 mins right in front of our gate. From 1 pm to 10 on my flight to Asheville from Chicago was delayed many many times waiting for our airplane to arrive. Upsetting that we missed our connection due to United's poor planning, they didn't hold our connecting flight for us but we had to wait all night for other flights."

Cons: "After a cancelled flight, two delays and lost luggage (that we did not receive for two days after arrival) on the way to Boise, we've now been cancelled on the way home to St. Louis. The first cancellation was due to weather. The two delays were due to late crew and refueling issues. Today's cancellation was due to maintenance. Embarassing. I travel often and can guarantee I will never fly United again."

Cons: "Flight was ok. I was disturbed by the rudeness of flight attendant toward a service dog. This dog was the owners eyes and she seemed disgusted it was there. We had to let her know in front of other passengers so she would be put on the spot and change her attitude."

Pros: "Luckily the crew on this flight was friendly and courteous, unlike United flights I had 2 months ago, because everything else was pretty horrible."
Cons: "First, we were delayed over 2 hours for maintenance problems. Second the plane was cramped and the seats were hard as park benches. Third, this flight had zero entertainment options although they advertised for it in the seat back propaganda. Fourth, the cabin noise from the engines, once they got them started, was so loud that even my noise canceling headphones could not prevent me from getting a headache. At least we got there safely, eventually."

When I finally got to the counter, the customer service agent was extremely rude, slow and frustrated. I had to run from check in to security and only made it to the plane with seconds to go."
