Cons: Our depart time was 1pm and our actual departure didn’t happen until 11pm. On and off the plane multiple times for mechanical failures for 10 hours. Delta had no plan and there were no hotel rooms. They diverted a NY flight through Atlanta waiving the covid restrictions to get us all on the plane. They Put us in a hotel In Atlanta, which was nice and convenient, but it was 2am when we went to sleep and backup at 6am to catch our flight. Not the way we wanted to end our amazing Key West vacation.

Cons: I never received anything about my booking. I went the airport Wednesday morning not knowing if I’d actually fly out. I only had on my Kayak app a trip itinerary. Thankfully I did. In Atlanta I added my Skymiles # to my trip. Upon arrival in Mexico I rec’d a push from Delta about my trip with my Record Locator. Flying home was to depart at 8am. When I rec’d my boarding pass it stated 8:55am. While waiting at my gate Delta sent me a text at 7:30am that my flight would be leaving at 8am. That confused me. Needless to say I was suppose to arrive CVG at 3:49pm, but instead was booked on a flight departing Atlanta at 4:30pm. Plans at home had to changed for Friday evening as I was not arriving at mid-afternoon. Needless to say I’ll probably not book thru Kayak anymore.

Pros: The cabin crew serving the main cabin were exceptional. They were efficient, kind and FUN. We were an hour late leaving and 2/3 of the plane was worried about tight connections. They handled it with grace giving each person their departing gate and asking everyone to let a gentleman off with a 10 minute connection. They made the flight memorably enjoyable.

The plane did get cleaned a little bit in Dar-es-salaam however I was still missing a pillow and blanket which I had to actively seek out. Seating was not very comfortable as there was a box attached to the leg of the seat in front of me, making it necessary to keep my feet at an uncomfortable angle through the long flight. I did not enjoy the food.

Pros: Flying internationally is civilized even in coach. There is more legroom, the food and drink carts come by several times, and there are blankets and pillows for everyone. I think all cross country non stop domestic US flights should have the same coach amenities as trans Atlantic flights.

Cons: We waited 1 hr or more for our baggage to arrive at baggage claim and no one from AA told us anything until about 50 minutes into our wait that there was a weather delay so baggage crew couldn't work in the conditions. When we landed, the weather was fine so no one knew! Many people missed connections or had to run through the airport by time they got their bags. Better communication would have been easy to do to keep us informed.

Cons: AA has nine boarding groups, which queue up in two lanes. Each of the two lanes hold about 5 people, at most. This is ridiculous. It creates enormous crowds of people jockeying to be near the tiny lanes for when their number is called 5 or 10 minutes down the line. AA needs to reduce the number of boarding groups, lengthen the lanes, and provide more of them. No other airline boards this way. That's because this boarding method is stupid. Unsurprisingly, our plane took off late because they couldn't get everyone boarded in time.

Cons: The worst experience I ever had in thirty years of flying. I missed my flight because even though I got to LAX two hours before the flight, I had to wait on the baggage check for two and a half hours. The attendants were texting and talking and not servicing the passengers. When I told American attendants and supervisors that I was going to miss my flight unless they got me through they were clueless and didn't care about me or any of the passengers. The entire American staff were the most disorganized and careless flight personnel I have ever seen. Them they put me on a standby flight, where I was number eight and five minutes later was number eighteen, so I missed that, too. My wife is one of the top Public Relations people in Los Angeles and we both have tweeted and posted on social media extensively about this horrendous experience. I require a full refund from American Airlines for my airfare, and if I don't receive it from you will take you to court. --Eric Red

Albuquerque Airline staff were rude, dismissive, incompetent, and each individual I spoke with gave me wildly differing information. The two delays (leading to approximately 48 hours of travel) would have been stressful enough, but the callous, ignorant and unprofessional attitudes of American Airlines staff (and staff in general at Chicago O'Hare Airport) really disappointed me. This was even more striking compared with the professional service I received from British Airways (from whom I purchased the tickets). I was ashamed that my country could lag so far behind in terms of basic customer service and problem solving.
