Most of the staff was very helpful and accommodating. On the first leg of the flight one of the attendants even suggested a wine with dinner, a very kind gesture.

When my husband and I went to check in for our flight at the desk we had to wait very long time to get checked in. We noticed that one of the girls was in training, which is understandable but just inconvenient. We are both very patient people but this just made us nervous because our first flight on Air China to Japan on 10/26/17 was very delayed and caused us to have to literally run and still go through a rigorous security check. We were not rushed through the line even though we had nothing to do with our flight being delayed on our second leg. We then had to wait in another long line for security even after arriving into China on our flight back. There was also someone on board before take off with a medical problem and we could tell that some of the patrons started getting a bit aggressive or irritable. I don’t think the crew could’ve done much in that regard but wish the issue had been resolved a little quicker. I believe it was a 40 minute delay in take off.

It makes no sense to not allow the use of any electronics during take off and landing. My E reader doesn't even use a cell signal, but I couldn't have it out. Also, not allowing cell phones at ANY time during the flight, even in airplane mode, is ridiculous because tablets, which can have cell signals, are allowed. Air China is just frustrating.

We were told over the phone that we could bring our kayaks with us to Africa but the airport staff denied not only our kayaks, but also our paddles which were in a standard ski bag. Their excuse was that both the kayaks and paddle bags were 2 inches too long. .. TWO INCHES!!!!!! We had record of the person we talked to and the time and date, but none of that seemed to matter. It caused A HUGE INCONVENIENCE for us since we are in Zambia for 6 weeks without our gear to paddle one of the most challenging rivers in the world... the Zambezi. Now we are constantly trying to acquire the proper equipment with very little success. We run a nonprofit called the Montana Kayak Academy which provides free whitewater instruction to youth between 8 &18 yrs old and we will be sure to tell everyone we know to NOT TRAVEL WITH EITHER VIRGIN ATLANTIC OR BRITISH AIRWAYS.... EVER!!! VERY DISAPPOINTED! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the first time a strong turbulence happened, people were screaming and started praying. The pilot got on the speaker and assured the passengers that the plane is ok and able to handle any turbulence. He spoke in a very calm voice and I think it also calmed most of the passengers. I went back to sleep.

Timing is great

We suppose to have a hotel in transit, but they lied to us and asked us to pay 130 $ for that hotel which supposed to be free! The hotel is SUPER DIRTY and is not even suitable to animals. Beside tha you have to pay for food which is very limited and very bad taste. After we reserve the hotel, we had to wait 3 hours until the big lazy boy to come over and escort is to the hotel shuttle. Over all, was the worst experience for me and I will NEVER EVER try this airlines again.

The flight was overall great. I very much liked the price, the fact that I was allowed to take two big suitcases, and the sitting was overall ok space wise. The crew was kind and the food was OK. I am very likely to make reservations with this airline in the future!

I did not like the fact that there was no WiFi on the flight. I also did not like the fact that the selection of movies was quite limited and not very recent. Finally, I did not like the fact that there was very little service on the flight. I would have liked to see more beverages (hot and cold) offered throughout the flight, and the clearing of meals done more rapidly.

Lounge is nice, if busy. Finnair staff offered me a better seat at check in. Seats flatten out and have many features. Tons of convenient items all marimekko - nice pillows, blankets and slippers. Helpful and attentive staff, always check on you but also give you plenty of time to snooze. Nice skin products and omg, clean bathroom. Easy to relax.

The Asian vegetarian meal is rice and chickpeas! Was not too bad but also my breakfast was more chickpeas and grilled zucchini. I never requested a "vegetarian breakfast" - feel bad wasting food like this. I sent the veg salad back opted for fruit salad croissant.

good service in spite of rather crammed conditions and short flight, UK newspaper was available, plenty of leg room (biz class consisting of one row in the front:))) - the lucky 4 in that 1st row were the only ones to get food, and also drink for free, it seems... and yes, the flight was short and otherwise uneventful, I was the 1st to walk off the plane.

The plane was a tiny oldish commuter jet with 2 seats on each side of the aisle. In "biz class" you still had to rub elbows with your neighbor, something other airlines with newer planes have sorted out, but allowing extra space between seats.... but overall, for a short flight (not much longer than an average subway commute in NYC), it really was not a huge deal....

The boarding started late (30 min before supposed departure), took much longer than expected because we needed to use the bus. Then we waited another hour on the tarmac. We were told it would be only a few minutes. Then we were told we would make up for the lost time, but that wasn't true and an additional half hour was lost on a holding pattern at LHR. We missed our connection. The instructions were unclear on what to do (contradiction between flight attendants and ground crew). By the time we picked up new boarding passes, we had already missed that flight as well and had to go to the customer service, which took another 45 min. Flight entertainment didn't work the first hour. There was a high pitched beeping sound during the whole flight (not the regular airplane noise).

I have flown with Air China before and had a bad experience. They are improving everything from customer service to in-flight amenities. Transfers in Beijing are still a problem with zero efficiency.

They don't honor seat selection when booking but attendant at gate helped and was very understanding.

The flight we ended up taking was just fine. The crew was very nice, most of the food was good, and the seats were comfortable even in stowage.

Our flight was about 10 hours so we got 2 meals, 1 hot 1 cold. The hot meal had a vegetarian option and that was acceptable. The cold meal was a chicken salad sandwich with no other choices. As a vegetarian we tried to take off the chicken salad part and just eat the rest but that didn't leave much. Vegetarian options for all meals would have been nice.

There was no in flight entertainment, not even a water service after I boarded. They offered a meal purchase but since it was a short flight a meal wasn't necessary. At least a free drink of water should have been offered to the passengers

There were personal movie screens with movies I liked.

The food was pretty bad. The bottom seat cushion was quite hard so I couldn't sleep because I was shifting my weight every hour. We were told at the boarding gate that the flight was full when we asked about upgrades, but the economy plus section was almost empty once we were on. I don't understand the reasoning for lying about the flight being full. If you won't sell us an upgrade, just say so.

Crew was friendly and helpful. Boarding was efficient and flight departed and arrived ahead of schedule.

Food is awful, and options are limited. I also think they need to reconsider playing music on the aircraft, it’s quite irritating.

We were told over the phone that we could bring our kayaks with us to Africa but the airport staff denied not only our kayaks, but also our paddles which were in a standard ski bag. Their excuse was that both the kayaks and paddle bags were 2 inches too long. .. TWO INCHES!!!!!! We had record of the person we talked to and the time and date, but none of that seemed to matter. It caused A HUGE INCONVENIENCE for us since we are in Zambia for 6 weeks without our gear to paddle one of the most challenging rivers in the world... the Zambezi. Now we are constantly trying to acquire the proper equipment with very little success. We run a nonprofit called the Montana Kayak Academy which provides free whitewater instruction to youth between 8 &18 yrs old and we will be sure to tell everyone we know to NOT TRAVEL WITH EITHER VIRGIN ATLANTIC OR BRITISH AIRWAYS.... EVER!!! VERY DISAPPOINTED! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have no complaints about the flight. It was a full flight but we tooked off in time and food/ drinks service was prompt. Unfortunately I left my phone on the flight and I have not got it back yet, a full week later.

The boarding started late (30 min before supposed departure), took much longer than expected because we needed to use the bus. Then we waited another hour on the tarmac. We were told it would be only a few minutes. Then we were told we would make up for the lost time, but that wasn't true and an additional half hour was lost on a holding pattern at LHR. We missed our connection. The instructions were unclear on what to do (contradiction between flight attendants and ground crew). By the time we picked up new boarding passes, we had already missed that flight as well and had to go to the customer service, which took another 45 min. Flight entertainment didn't work the first hour. There was a high pitched beeping sound during the whole flight (not the regular airplane noise).

The boarding was prompt. The ground staff were helpful in ensuring that my through luggage had been loaded onto the connecting flight

There was no in flight entertainment, not even a water service after I boarded. They offered a meal purchase but since it was a short flight a meal wasn't necessary. At least a free drink of water should have been offered to the passengers

There were personal movie screens with movies I liked.

The food was pretty bad. The bottom seat cushion was quite hard so I couldn't sleep because I was shifting my weight every hour. We were told at the boarding gate that the flight was full when we asked about upgrades, but the economy plus section was almost empty once we were on. I don't understand the reasoning for lying about the flight being full. If you won't sell us an upgrade, just say so.

The flight waited which I'm sure is a complaint by others. This is due to the very inefficient transfer process in Beijing.

When my husband and I went to check in for our flight at the desk we had to wait very long time to get checked in. We noticed that one of the girls was in training, which is understandable but just inconvenient. We are both very patient people but this just made us nervous because our first flight on Air China to Japan on 10/26/17 was very delayed and caused us to have to literally run and still go through a rigorous security check. We were not rushed through the line even though we had nothing to do with our flight being delayed on our second leg. We then had to wait in another long line for security even after arriving into China on our flight back. There was also someone on board before take off with a medical problem and we could tell that some of the patrons started getting a bit aggressive or irritable. I don’t think the crew could’ve done much in that regard but wish the issue had been resolved a little quicker. I believe it was a 40 minute delay in take off.

The food was terrible. There were no amenedies for flying internationally like I am used to. And the movies available?! Usually international flights have all kinds of movies to watch. There were only a few that is even heard of.
