Germany has restricted the entry of travelers who are arriving from outside the European Economic Area, except for nationals of Germany, residents with a residence permit, and D-Visa holders, and certain exceptions (detailed below).
Germany has restricted all air passenger flights from the UK. In order to travel to Germany on exempt transportation UK nationals resident in Germany will require proof of residence. If they are not yet in possession of a residence card, they will be required to provide credible evidence that they are resident in Germany. This could include an address registration certificate (Meldebescheinigung), a tenancy agreement, a utility bill in their name, or a certificate of application (Fiktionsbescheinigung).
As of June 25, travelers arriving from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland may enter Germany.
Germany has also lifted restrictions on entry for travelers coming from the following countries: Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand and Uruguay. Travelers must have spent at least 2 weeks in the above-listed countries prior to their flight to Germany. Restrictions will also be lifted for entry from China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Macao if this can be agreed on a reciprocal basis. The list will be reviewed every two weeks.
Entry from any third country is possible for travelers who can demonstrate an important reason for their travel. The list of important reasons covers German and EU citizens and any third-country nationals with a right of residency in Germany. It also includes healthcare and social care personnel and health researchers, skilled workers whose economic activity is necessary and cannot be postponed or performed from abroad, freight and transport staff, seasonal workers, students who cannot continue their studies from abroad, travelers making visits for urgent family reasons, diplomats and staff at international organizations, and persons transiting Germany.
Travelers entering Germany after staying in a designated risk area abroad during the previous 14 days must undergo mandatory testing for COVID-19. The German government regularly updates its list of designated risk areas. See the "English archive" at the bottom of the Robert Koch Institute page for the latest updated list.
Travelers entering from Albania, Andorra, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Colombia, Czechia, Egypt, Estonia, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Kosovo, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Mexico, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Palestinian Territory, Panama, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, UAE, UK or US must have a medical certificate with a negative COVID-19 test result issued within 48 hours prior to arrival. Travelers entering Germany from another country and have visited a high-risk area in the last 10 days, must complete a digital registration prior to travel.
Quarantine requirements in Germany differ depending on the German state. All travelers arriving from high-risk areas (over 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants) are required to stay in home quarantine for 10 days on arrival in Germany. After 5 days it is possible to secure release from quarantine with a negative test. More information can be found here.
In most federal states (Länder), testing negative, at the earliest after five days, means home quarantine is no longer required. Furthermore, in some federal state (Land) regulations, exemptions from the quarantine obligation require the submission of a negative test result.
Travelers transiting through Germany from Brazil, Ireland, Portugal, South Africa or the UK must have a medical certificate with a negative COVID-19 test result issued within 48 hours prior to arrival. Tests accepted are: Antigen, PCR, RT-LAMP and TMA tests. The certificate must be in English, French or German. Children under the age of 6 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test result.

Cons: "Everything that could have gone wrong with my flights, went wrong. On my way from LA to Raleigh (through Atlanta), I was affected by the weather conditions at Atlanta. I understand that the weather is beyond Delta's scope of control, but customer service is not. I had to wait in line at LAX for 8 hours to even get information on what had happened, and what solutions were available. The customer service call center was collapsed, and at the airport counters at one point there was ONLY ONE DELTA REPRESENTATIVE serving a line of more than 100 upset customers. This IS Delta's fault, and it is unacceptable. This definitely was under Delta's control, but in order to save a few dollars in overtime for emergency staff Delta was willing to let its customers make terribly long lines, miss their flights, their connections and consequently their commitments. It is disappointing to observe how Delta believes that a few dollars saved on extra staff and emergency measures can offset the irreparable long term damage to its business due to upset customers. My way back from Raleigh to Los Angeles was also a disaster. Without any type of explanation and nothing more than an email announcing the change, the nonstop flight I bought was replaced by a 1-stop flight with connection in Atlanta. This was NOT THE PRODUCT I PURCHASED. There is a reason I paid a premium for a nonstop flight, and Delta did not hesitate in providing me with a less valuable product without any explanation or refund. Delta prioritizes its operational metrics - an obsession to fill and overbook its capacity - over its customers' experience, one again under the foolish belief that short term savings in any way offset the long term damage of disappointed and alienated customers. I will NEVER FLY DELTA AGAIN. I will do whatever I can to transmit my experience to everyone I know. At a time where major airline carriers are in the spotlight due to abusive practices (i.e. the United passenger case), I still find hope in knowing that alternatives such as Southwest still put their customers first, over the ethereal benefits that a few-dollar savings in operational expenses can provide."

No more flights to Bremen so we then were redirected to a flight to Hamburg. We had to fly from Munich to Vienna and then from Vienna to Hamburg. The flight from Munich to Vienna was delayed by 40 minutes which made us lose the connecting flight. We had to wait until the next morning for a flight to Hamburg, where as we arrived our luggage was lost. The staff ensured us that our connecting flights were waiting for us, however the flights had left 20 minutes prior to our arrival. The staff was nice but the communication was poor."

Flight happened to be late so I missed my connection, and they offered some more misinformation in that regard; There were of course human beings (staff) to deal with, but they had been reduced by Lufthansa's rules and systems so they were just robots, repeating over and over again inflexible policies. Cons: "On May 16, 2017, there was a group of Albanian and American passengers rushing through Frankfurt Airport to catch the connecting flight to New York. Their first flight (LH#1425) from Tirana to Frankfurt was 45 minutes late causing them to eventually miss their connecting flight. At this point, the passengers were asked to show their passports, separating the US citizens from the rest. All the US citizens were loaded on a bus and provided hotel, dinner and breakfast. The Albanian citizens were moved to the lower level of the airport where they were left to freeze all night. Some of the passengers were elderly and had their heart or high blood pressure medications in their luggage that they didn’t have access to. One US-Albanian citizen was asked to separate from his Green-Card holder wife in order to receive the US citizen treatment…"

For the return flight I had cancelled the vegetarian meal, but then on the flight they brought it to me. I indicated that I had cancelled the vegetarian meal about a week earlier, but they did not have enough meals to give me something different. This was a disappointment. This meal too was largely carbohydrate of a refined nature."

We didn't get to deplane until after our connecting flight was already boarding and both my fiance and I had to use the restroom really bad. Cons: "I flew Economy Plus for the first time in quite a long time. As a 1K member, I usually try to fly Business Class. However, the food in Economy Plus was disgraceful. It was terrible. If I regularly flew United Economy and was served this food, I would try another airline."

Cons: "The cabin was very hot and uncomfortable. The crew said they were working on cooling it down. We sat in very hot humid environment for about 15 min. Then they decide to turn the air on full blast right before departure. So they had the air off the whole time for what? To save money? We all were sweating. So ridiculous."

Brkfst was rushed in last hour before touch down. This was a real disappointment after an excellent flight from LAX to MEL! We can fly AA for such service at a lower price!"

Cons: "I didn't like that because I was 4th group to get in the plane, all the space above my seat was full and I had to go put my carry-on quite further down. It didn't cause me any problem because my connection flight had a long layover, but if had not been, I could have been late."

Overall it was a poor experience flying with United airlines, but that won't stop me from future planning."

Cons: "If you can tell that overhead storage space is going to be full so much as to pass out the green tags to check at the gate, why not just insist upon it? Instead of making me walk all the way to the back of the airplane and then having to walk all the way back to the front with the bag.
