Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "All 4 legs of our flight were right on time, and the planes appeared to be clean."
Cons: "Paying first class fare buys a couple of additional inches of space, but nothing more. There's nothing really first class about it."
Pros: "Great flight"
Pros: "The crew were wonderful and understanding and good sports."
Cons: "There were problems as soon as the plane got to the gate. After the passengers got off the plane, the man at the counter came on the P.A and said it’ll be a few minutes, they’re catering the plane now from the back to the front. The flight crew still needed to get on a preform safety checks. He apologized again. Then it was 8:40, time to take off and we’re still waiting to even board. The man at the counter said again, thank you for your patience and relayed the same message, only this time the flight attendants were walking away from the gate. Around 9 some lady higher up told the man to announce that the flight crew had timed out and stand by crew was on the way to the gate, said sorry again. A little later the man says sorry, there’s a gate change. You’re going to K6 now. When we get to the new gate it’s almost 9:30pm and while we were all gathered at the gate, the flight crew that supposedly “timed out” showed up and proceeded to get on the plane. Passengers started getting mad and saying we were lied to and to just tell us the truth. Chicago PD started showing up. We finally got on the plane but it would be another 30 minutes before we moved because of issues getting our bags off the original plane. We ended up being almost 2 hours delayed."
Pros: "Smooth ride, great crew, free flight entertainment with screen built into each seat."
Cons: "The plane departed 1.5 hours late due to crew issues."
Pros: "Crew was OK"
Cons: "Seat was uncomfortable. There was no power outlet."
Pros: "Like the multiple USB charging outlets and the mobile device holder on the backrest"
Pros: "Good entertainment choices."
Cons: "Uncomfortable seat with insufficient legroom wouldn't recline. Inadequate overhead storage (full flight)"
Cons: "The flight was delayed. I would have missed my connecting flight so rebooks through another midpoint. That flight was cancelled. Love AA! ☹️"
Cons: "No delay"
Cons: "Due to missed connection, computer booked me on later flight, but in the wrong class (i.e., not first class as ticketed). Very helpful agent at O'Hare was able to remedy this though (didn't get her name. 6/25/19 at help desk near O'Hare gate L4, 7PM)"
Pros: "The boarding process was not complicated and my moved along in an orderly fashion."
Cons: "Make the seats more comfortable! Especially on long fights where the risk of blood clots are higher."
Cons: "The sound didn't work on my entire row for the in flight entertainment; it made for a long flight."
Pros: "Much better flight. Nice quick easy boarding and getting off. quick easy overall. Seats were much more comfortable"
Pros: "Never even made it on this flight because the first flight was ruined and delayed severely"
Cons: "The fact that my travel plans were entirely derailed and I had to book with another airline"
Pros: "On time professional staff"
Cons: "Old plane for this fight."
Cons: "Only snacks available at 5am"
Cons: "They forgot to plan a pilot....also the crew was 45 min late"
Pros: "Flight crew was nice"
Cons: "the small jets are so uncomfortable."
Pros: "Routine flight. No problems noted."
Cons: "No major complaints."
Pros: "The flight itself was fine."
Cons: "All the choices to eat were laden with gluten, salt, and sugar. Surely a salad is no heavier than what they carry, but might not last as long. For those of us gluten-sensitive, watching our glucose levels, or salt intake there’s nothing. A 40 minute gate change from B29 to A11 in PHX was barely long enough to walk far less find and buy a healthy meal. Yet again I arose at 4am and had nothing to eat until after 4pm. ALL the airlines can do better."
Cons: "Took off 40 minutes late, rude attendants, very hot on plane, no apologies from staff for being late. Worst flight in a long time."
Cons: "Lines are very long and the check-in staff are not good at their jobs. For example, I arrived 2 hours early and they ended up letting half the line cut in front, which made me barely make my flight."
Pros: "Just about everything was wonderful. Flight crew was great, infotainment centers are always a plus, and the seats are better than I remember (don’t get excited, slightly)."
Cons: "This was considered an international flight, as we discovered when we were directed to the international terminal. It was also a 6 hour flight so... where was the food?! We could pay upwards of $10 for 3-4 options, none of which were 100% kid friendly. What’s up with that?"
Pros: "Good legroom, nice crew, temperature was comfortable, arrived ahead of schedule even though we sat on the departure tarmac for at least 30 min after we left the gate."
Cons: "Sitting on the tarmac and no individual screens on one flight."
Pros: "On time. Good crew."
Cons: "Flight was over sold and announcements about it at the gate had a threatening tone."
Pros: "The plane was new and clean, the staff was extra nice, there was a tv screen in each seat. The flight was very much on time."
Cons: "The food is so, so. The seats are extremely narrow"
Pros: "The crew was friendly and efficient, the pilot kept the passengers informed about the delays and updated gate info, etc. well. The seats and interior were cleaner and in better shape than I remember from the last time I flew American."
Cons: "The flight was delayed waiting for crew. The pilots arrived, then a couple of stewards and finally the last steward. Then had to de-ice and wait in line for takeoff. Made my connecting flight with 6 minutes to spare. Never received beverage service. Took 20 minutes to do the first 6 rows and then was discontinued because of turbulence."
Pros: "We got there"
Cons: "The food was cold and and had no taste."
Pros: "Quick service, respectful of need to sleep on an overnight flight. Much appreciated!"
Pros: "First time flyer with American airlines and the service was impeccable"
Cons: "Nothing to dislike"
Cons: "The fact that my original seats were not given. The other issue was that Alaska wasn’t my airline but American was. They didn’t even tell me until I got to the gate, moved over to another and then got transferred over to my gate."
Cons: "Not enough food to feed all passengers and the service was very slow."
Pros: "We missed this flight."
Cons: "Background info: we flew from Dublin to Toronto (Aer Lingus) and we were supposed to fly Toronto to Los Angeles on American Airlines; however, we had a British Airways flight number for both of these flights. We missed our connecting flight in Toronto with American Airlines (we had a 2 hour layover) despite landing on-time (de-boarded a few minutes late). I suggest avoiding the Toronto airport ALWAYS as every passenger must pick up his/her luggage even if you have a connecting flight, and then re-check the baggage with the next flight. Apparently the baggage handlers were on strike and some of the customs agents as well which added to the delays. Well, after going through Canadian customs and picking up our luggage (which took quite awhile) we arrived at the American Airlines ticketing kiosk about 45 minutes before our flight. The computer told us we were too late for this flight and to see a representative. We proceeded to wait in line for an American Airlines representative only to be told this was Aer Lingus' fault (we had just flown with them); even though we had a BA flight number.. After searching for an Aer Lingus representative we were finally told they were probably all on the Aer Lingus flight that was currently about to leave. An Aer Lingus representative was paged to the ticketing counter (took well over 30 minutes for anyone to show up) and what proceeded was an argument (for well over an hour) between British Airways and Aer Lingus representatives about whose responsibility it was to re-book us. After an hour at least of poor customer service, we were finally rebooked by British Airways on the last flight to LAX (on Air Canada). Moral of the story: avoid Toronto and fly direct."
Pros: "Their Miami weather recovery of service during stressful & tragic times."
Pros: "Uneventful and on time"
Pros: "Personal TVs with many movie and game options. I also liked that I could view the flight map and timing details. Meals and crew were great too!"
Pros: "Short flight"
Cons: "Numerous delays."
Pros: "Once again, another good and on time flight with American. I was once again surprised."
Cons: "Landing was ROUGH"
Pros: "1st Class cabin was comfortable but below business class product of most premium competitors from Asia and the Middle East"
Cons: "Flight was delayed 5 times for 6 and a half hours in total. Poor communication from the airline. Had they been honest and up-front about the delay I could have been re-booked on another flight. This delay caused me to miss an important factory meeting and will require another trip to Asia sooner than originally planned."
Pros: "Stewards were patient and attentive."
Pros: "Grest staff"
Cons: "Thought the first row seating would provide extra leg room which the reservation page said it would and we paid extra for the seats - not so. it also felt quite claustrophobic with a panel within a short distance of our faces. We had upgraded for better seats but it turns out the seating wasn't better at all. The flight home in seats much further back were MUCH more comfortable. I'm thinking the airline shouldn't book the front seats by the panel as 'better' for the extra price as they were definitely not."
Cons: "Flight was changed. Didn't get the seats I had already picked out. Woman on flight was very rude to me when I asked where the restroom was. NOT a good experience over all."
Pros: "Gate crew and flight attendants"
Cons: "Two-hour delay and ever more cramped seating space"
Pros: "Great entertainment my second leg with personal TVs and great selection of movies and games. Also got great exit row seating for no additional price!"
Pros: "THE SEATS WERE COMFORTABLE AND CREW AND VERY ATTENTIVE."
Pros: "Leg room Kind stewards"
Cons: "No gluten free meal options"
Pros: "I thought the crew was friendly and the food was pretty good."
Cons: "The plane did not have personal TVs, which means they showed a handful of bad movies overhead and on a nine hour flight, it's hard not to be able to pick a movie or pick a TV show."
