Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "The crew was wonderful."
Cons: "My tray table lock was broken. When I took my seat, there was a piece of it barley holding it in place and after the passenger in the seat in front of me sat back forcefully, it fell and went too far under my seat to get. I had to hold it in place for the rest of the flight."
Cons: "Smooth flight left on time and arrived on time."
Pros: "Nothing. It’s a terrible airline. Seriously, don’t book with them unless you’re desperate or you want to have an anxiety attack."
Cons: "American isn’t my preferred airline for obvious reasons (delays, notoriously bad service, old planes, and a lack of amenities like WiFi and tv’s), but now I’ll never spend my money with them again. They took me off an already delayed flight after I’d already boarded to examine my smart bag. I know that lithium batteries can’t be taken in the underbelly of the plane and I knew my bag would likely be checked at the gate (why I removed the battery and left it at home in the first place). When they asked me if I had a lithium battery in my bag I said “no.” They then gate checked the bag and allowed me on the plane. After everyone had been boarded (half an hour after we’d been scheduled to take off) they then called my name out on the speaker. I had to then de-board the plane and re-explain to staff that there was no lithium battery in my bag. The staff didn’t believe me citing the infallible logic: “there are ports so there’s a battery.” I told them again and again that the battery had been removed and the charging ports—while there—were inert as they weren’t attached to the battery. STILL, I had to remove all of my clothes from the bag, and open every single compartment (of which there were many) for them to allow me to get back onto the plane. They were telling me that they might have to “rebook the flight” if my bag couldn’t get on. I don’t think I need to explain how agitated/terrified that made me."
Pros: "Crew"
Cons: "Boarding very slow in Medellin -always- Entertainment only in your phone now!"
Cons: "Bigger seats"
Cons: "more room, better boarding procedure, on time take off"
Cons: "Unexplained 3 hour delay. They couldn't be bothered to automatically rebook me to an earlier flight (other airlines do this). They also couldn't put me on standby over the phone?! I had to wait for someone to arrive at the gate and then get on standby."
Pros: "Arrived alive."
Cons: "Literally everything. Plane was super dirty upon boarding amongst other typical AA complaints."
Pros: "Amazing crew. Helping me figure out some charging issues."
Cons: "Food. Still horrible after all these years. Salad was okay but meat and fish were gross. Boarding at Heathrow is also not great."
Cons: "Boarding at gate a47 T2A at CDG was chaotic"
Cons: "I upgraded my seats, but we still didn’t get any extras for the price."
Cons: "I was bumped off the flight due to weight restriction and moved to a flight 6 hours later, it only took me 4 hours to rent a car and drive home. I am a 210 lb 6ft tall male. I was not the reason for the plane being over weight, I was there before boarding took place they didn't ask and I didn't fly."
Cons: "Short flight there was no entertainment but that’s ok"
Pros: "there was an open seat between aisle and window seat!!! however I did pay extra $40 for that seat. so nice to be able to move without constantly knocking into person sitting smashed next to you! great AA crew, polite & professional. on time departure and arrival. comfortable cabin, seats"
Cons: "would be nice to have individual entertainment screen - instead it was above every few seats"
Pros: "Confort and good treatment."
Cons: "I didn’t have the opportunity to chiíes seats."
Pros: "The flight attendants were extremely helpful and kind"
Cons: "Nothing"
Pros: "Flight delayed for 12 hours. Had to reschedule both flights"
Cons: "See above. Missed work."
Cons: "There was a delay from Charlotte to Dallas but not too much so it was fine. Once we arrived in Dallas, however, it took an absorbent amount of time for the crew to open the door. On top of that, the skyline in Dallas was broken down and it caused me to miss my flight completely. I’m a student so I don’t have much money so I had to “sleep” in the airport because I couldn’t get a hotel voucher due to the fact that I missed my flight due to the airport and not the airline itself. My next flight is tomorrow morning but now takes away time from an incredibly busy and tight schedule that I was on. Not happy at all with the Dallas airport."
Cons: "Not the airline’s fault, but we had three hour delays due to weather in NYC, so I was in a foul mood."
Pros: "Premium economy seats/service made the flight much more tolerable than previous overnight flight to Europe. Would definitely fly this class again. Non-stop from Charlotte to Madrid made travel relatively short."
Cons: "However, only reasonable flight options where red-eyes. Would also recommend noise cancelling haedphones."
Pros: "I really liked crew, fast boarding"
Cons: "Old airplane, very noisy , no tv screans on seats, boring movies on tv and horrible ear sets, could not hear anything. very dissapointed experience."
Cons: "7.5 hr flight from Lisbon to Philadelphia on a dingy old plane that looks like it hasn’t been retrofitted in close to 20 years, with no charging ports for electronics, which seems insane in this day and age, especially for such long flights. Had no in-seat entertainment systems either, and only offered news and sports on the American wi-fi service — not their usual lineup of movies and TV."
Cons: "The airport crew in Fort Myers were rude, slow, difficult and more concerned with chitchat among themselves than helping passengers"
Pros: "On time"
Cons: "Cold cabin"
Cons: "Plane was delayed 1.5 hours. Rental Car reservation was at a location 30 miles from the airport, not the airport rental location. Had to transfer reservations which cost an extra $30..."
Cons: "The information that was given was awful. Why would AA send a broken plane to ABW?"
Pros: "Was impressed with the legroom, and complimentary in-flight entertainment. I am a big dude (6'4" - 230lbs), and I found it enjoyable to have room for my knees (I feel like there are a number of airlines where my knees are in the seat in front of me). The crew were very pleasant; they worked to move the people in my row so I wouldn't have to be squished between another guy (also a big dude)."
Cons: "I wish the snacks were better. I would love some complimentary fruit options."
Pros: "On time, food service"
Pros: "This is a modern airplane with great features"
Cons: "The seats are way to narrow"
Cons: "Not enough leg room and too small of a seat"
Pros: "Same as first flight."
Pros: "- Got to the destination early."
Cons: "- time it took to get off the plane. - time it took for baggage to come out. - being forced to check in my carry on bag that had fragile items."
Cons: "The touch screens were less than responsive. They weren't very touch sensitive."
Cons: "Delayed a total of four hous!"
Pros: "The plane was brand new and the crew were very nice. Entertainment system was well-done with good selection of movies. Even unedited movies!! Great."
Cons: "The plane was delayed for a half hour before it was marked as "delayed" and then it was delayed another half hour. If I had known it was going to be an hour late I would've been able to eat a proper dinner. They seemed to be out of every normal drink on the drink cart."
Cons: "there was no entertainment for a very long flight. also, it was night time, and the fasten seatbelt signs are so big and bright that it is impossible to go to sleep! Our plan was delayed for 2 hours, meaning we did not get in until 230am. it was exhausting!"
Pros: "Food and movies"
Pros: "Old school seat. No foot rest. Small plane to go coast to coast."
Cons: "UI on the entertainment system was horrible."
Pros: "Timeliness of departure and quality customer service"
Pros: "Everything. In flight entertainment was great and service as shops."
Cons: "No issues."
Pros: "It was effortless... easy boarding and accommodating crew. There was a lot of turbulence so only one beverage service and no food. Would rather be safe than have crew injured."
Pros: "The flight was about one hour late. We were advised of the late departure while checking in. The plane was very comfortable and the ride was smooth. Staff were professional and courteous."
Cons: "Only served sandwich with meat. No choice. However, unlike other airlines that don't serve anything on such a short flight, it was refreshing that they provided a FREE light snack."
Pros: "Everything, it was my first time flying and I actually really enjoyed it! I'd be looking Forward to flying with this airline again!"
Pros: "The crew was very nice and peofessional."
Cons: "Boarding and then 20 minutes later, deboarding, due to no crew showing up for flight! We had to wait over an hour to board again!!"
Cons: "Seats packed it tight. One less row and a few more inches would be better. Shame the airlines have making more money in mind and not passenger comforts"
Pros: "I liked how smooth flight went especially after all the bumpy rides I had been on"
Cons: "I didn't like that I wasn't able to sit with the person I purchased my ticket with"
Pros: "Allthough is was I bird strike, y'all handled the delay good."
Pros: "Short flight"
Cons: "No console for personal entertainment"
Pros: "Since the merge with US Airways, it seems as though American has adopted it's ways. US Airways was my least favorite airlines therefore I am disappointed by the merge. American now charges $25 each way for a trip to the Caribbean, which was not the case in the past. No entertainment provided unless one wants to watch a Free movzie on your small cell phone screen (lets hope your phone is well charged and you remember to bring your ear buds also)."
Cons: "Lack of snack options, lack if entertainment, baggage fees, less space for comfort."
