This city has a driver-friendly infrastructure that includes three major interstate highways, Interstate 75, Interstate 280, and Interstate 475, making it easy to move within and outside the city. Toledo's morning rush hour starts around 7am to 8:30am, while the evening traffic peaks at approximately 4:30pm to 5pm. With the ongoing resurfacing on various streets and reconstruction on major routes like I-75, the city has closed sections of the Highway with the provided detours increasing congestion. Bear in mind the current projects as you drive, especially if you are heading for business or trying to catch a flight. Additionally, be extra vigilant when driving in winter since the city is known for icy cold weather, creating slippery roads and foggy conditions.
If you’re driving Toledo car rentals with two or more passengers, then you’re in luck because most highways have carpool lanes that can reduce travel time. These carpool lanes – also known as high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes – can be found on I-75 and I-280 going north and south or I-475 going east and west. During non-operational hours, anyone may use the lanes. However, during the peak hours of 6 am to 10 am and 3 pm to 7 pm, only cars with two or more passengers may use the lanes. Improper use of the lanes can lead to a fine of roughly $100 to $200 or so.

The Toledo Farmer’s Market is held on Saturday mornings from roughly 8 am to 2 pm throughout the year. This may cause extra traffic around Market Street, S Huron Street, and S Superior Street. On October 1, the University of Toledo holds its annual Homecoming parade. It starts at 10 am and goes through Middlesex Road, Christie Street, and Cheltenham Drive. Lastly, in early December, the East Toledo Christmas Parade affects traffic on East Broadway Street in the late morning/early afternoon.
Those driving Toledo car rentals don’t need to concern themselves about tolls when driving within the city of Toledo itself. However, if you plan on going east toward Cleveland or west toward Chicago, then you may use the Ohio Turnpike, which is a toll road. The Ohio Turnpike runs from east to west along northern Ohio and is made up of I-76, I-80, and I-90. Before exiting the toll road, you pay a toll fee based on the vehicle’s weight and class alongside and travel distance. You can pay this with cash, credit/debit cards, or with an E-ZPass transponder.

Every efficient and friendly. We picked up our rental during a very busy time and the staff, especially Zae, were very professional and courteous. Despite there being a long line of people ahead of us we had minimal wait time, the check in process was very streamlined and our vehicle was perfect for our trip.
When we arrived to pick up the car they did not have one available.

I arrived in Toledo and the Hertz rental counter was closed even after I asked the Priceline customer service. No car was available at the Sylvania location ether. I will never rent vehicle in this website, shame on Kayak to take our money for the vehicle that is nonexcited and Hertz closed the airport counter last year due to bankrupcy.

7.2 Good
Lee, Nov 2020
Pros:
Great value for one-way rental. Vehicle was in like-new condition and exceeded my expectations. Drop-off was super easy.
Cons:
Toledo branch manager Jon Orr was condescending, arrogant, and power-hungry. He refused to allow me to me take possession of the vehicle because my AAA number had not been attached to the reservation I booked via Hotline 10 days earlier. I called Hertz corporate and they were able to fix the issue easily and directed Mr. Orr to allow me to pick up the vehicle as planned, which he did, with no apologies to me and while announcing that he would report the corporate employee who had helped me for non-compliance. I would expect a more professional attitude from a branch manager.
