During this time, we were not offered refreshments, nor were we offered any type of "compensatory benefit" for our delay (e.g., free Wi-Fi, vouchers good toward a future flight (a $30 voucher per passenger would seem appropriate), additional SkyMiles (3000-5000 SkyMiles would seem appropriate), etc.).

Not a big deal but we were traveling with a 10 month old so miscommunications like that cause a larger inconvenience than usual. The real downer on the flight was when we needed hot water quickly to warm our infant's bottle. The stewardess had begun beverage service and was about 8 rows away from us. My wife hit the call button, expecting the stewardness to come over somewhat quickly. Instead, she just continued beverage service and got to us about 15 mins later. By that point it was too late and the baby was wailing from hunger. When we asked why, knowing that we had a small child, the stewardness didn't just push the cart forward and attend to us more quickly, she said she didn't want to do that. No apology, not even a sense of remorse. At the end of the day, a customer's experience will always be tainted by poor service and that is what we received on our flight.

Pros: GRU to ATL to LEX - all was fine. The plane from GRU to ATL was one of the nicer jets I have ridden in. The ratings above reflect my overall trip of going to Sao Paulo and returning to Lexington, even though the first part had to be re-booked on United.
Cons: LEX to ATL to GRU did NOT happen because the LEX flights were delayed to the point of missing the ATL connection. While Delta re-booked me on United, my flight arrived 3 hours later than scheduled (so transportation plans had to change), my bag did not successfully move from the Delta flight to the United flight (and was thus delayed in getting to GRU) AND once the bag was received, 4 shirts had been stolen. While a delay/theft claim has been filed with United, this could all have been avoided if the Delta flights had been on time.

Pros: We had originally booked seats that were not together but we're able to change them at the gate. We sat in the last row of the 777 which only had 2 seats on either side of the plane rather than the standard 3. The seats still reclined tho not as much as the other rows. Food was free and excellent- so was the entertainment (I watched 4 movies on the 14 hour flight). Crew was great. Alcoholic beverages were also free but we don't drink so it didn't matter.
Cons: The flight from phx to lax was ok but it was a small plane (CRJ700) and we're big people. No amenities whatsoever except for soft drinks, juices and peanuts. Flight was on time and made the connection with time to spare.

Cons: Probably not under Delta's control, but the customs at Seatac is extremely disorganized. The contrast between CDG (Paris), which was very good, and SEA (Seattle), which was very chaotic, was quite large.

No effort to get me a window seat within main cabin when I claimed, nor reasonable explanation on why they did the changed.

By ths point it was 5 pm, had been at airport since 8:30 -- no food offered, no apologies, not even a glass of water. Of course, no flights back to US so I was stuck an extra day, completely messed up school and work. I THOUGHT I was booking with Iberia but it was a code share. I WILL NEVER fly American Airlines again!

I had a flight delay that forced me to reschedule to a flight the following morning and caused me to pay for an overnight at a hotel; none of the staff seemed to care whatsoever about their customers' travel plans or experience, giving us little to no information up to the point of canceling our flight, and doing even less to accommodate when plans were foiled. I honestly am waiting for a refund at this point. Terrible trip with American Airlines.

Cons: Flight from Miami last night was delayed 3.5 hours (which was a 9:30pm departure to 12:30am departure) There was horrible weather that prevented the Flight captain to arrive on time for our flight. (he was en route from NYC to MIA). But instead of providing accommodations, the times changed and then they boarded us on the plane where we proceeded to wait almost an hour on the plane before take off. Arrived at DCA at 3 am....not a goo start to a work week.

Pros: Americans new 737s are pretty cool. The interior design is modern almost spacious. Seat back entertainment centers are like something you would find on international flights. There is even an A/C plug to charge your electronics. The seats don't just recline, they tilt the seat as well as the back. That said, the seat depth is akin to sitting on a picnik bench.

Cons: Why does United allow kids who are too big for a lap onboard. A couple brought two children who looked to be at least 2 years old on a flight. We offered to give her the window seat, but then her child cried the whole way. And of course, the child was uncomfortable because she was too big to sit on a person's lap.
