Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Economy plus was quite comfortable."

Cons: "The flight was almost 4 hour long, and we didn't get no food to eat, we would have to buy the food, I think that was bad"
Cons: "Flight turned around after 2 hours, we were delayed 7.5 hours and missed an entire day in Rome. Instead of landing at 8 AM, we landed closer to 4 PM."
Cons: "This flight was booked as a Lufthansa flight, but the actual flight was United. It was OK, but not the service or comfort when I flew Lufthansa in the past."

Pros: "Amazing service, great crew. love was our stewardess and she took good care and watched over my daughter."
Cons: "Not much, truly an amazing experience"
Cons: "Service could be better. Bathrooms need to be clean periodically. Your cut back of restrooms - sucks. I guess the offer of free drinks and a small snack is all United can offer for the price we pay."
Pros: "The crew was super pleasant and friendly on this small plane. The flight was quick and smooth. The snack on board was new and enjoyable, not just pretzels."
Cons: "The flight was delayed coming to Muskegon causing me to really rush to my connection in Chicago. This was a small plane so there was no charging abilities or WiFi."
Pros: "This is one of the longest flights in the world, but the flight attendants were cheerful throughout the flight. There was a good selection of movies and other entertainment in the seat back viewer."
Cons: "The food was mediocre. Lots of carbs, little protein, almost no fruits or vegetables. Not great for someone watching their weight."
Pros: "The flight was very smooth, even the landing and take off. Cudos to the pilots. Liked that we were given a pillow and blanket (FREE). The food was good and the crew was pleasant. I loved that we had FREE movies and TV programs to watch with FREE earphones."
Cons: "The seating is AWFUL for economy section. For this reason I will never take a flight over 2 hours again. A nine hour flight is sheer torture!!!! Plus I was freezing the whole time, even with a jacket with a hood, two blankets, two pillows. Just a horrible situation."
Pros: "Drastically better"
Pros: "On time, good food service, free wine, and nice stewardesses"
Cons: "Still hate sleeping in seats. Maybe, one day I can do first class!"
Pros: "Staff was friendly, courteous, and generally concerned with our well-being."
Cons: "Economy seats were not terribly comfortable, but that is not unusual."
Pros: "The crew was wonderful."
Cons: "Delays are so very common on United."
Cons: "The flight was delayed by five hours due to a mechanical problem with the plane. Little information was provided by United. Frustrating experience."
Pros: "The stewards were nice. The entertainment package was good. Food was ok (coach)"
Cons: "6 1/2 hour delay due to navigation system crash. Two gate changes and a terminal change. New seats assigned, but then when 3rd plane was brought in, it had the exact configuration of the first and we were told we should use the original boarding passes. These turned out to be wrong because they reseated after the first plane went down and it’s replacement wasn’t the same configuration. We never saw that plane, or the gate it was assigned to. When we went to rebound, my wife I am were separated. We were moved to the way back (screaming baby sandwich - one in front and one behind us). Then we spent an hour in the worst turbulence I’ve seen in 20 years - I nearly vomited. the last 6 hours of this 15 hour ordeal were fine."
Pros: "Everything went as planned. Professional friendly crew with good rapport! Cabin felt spacious and seats were just right. The food and entertainment packages were quality, appropriate and functioning. The crew put us on a strict schedule allowing us time to sleep and refresh. Toiletries clean and no lines. Just an overall lovely flight!"
Cons: "N/A"
Pros: "Best flight to Italy from the states for me in 4 visits over 18 year span. Very efficient and courteous attendants, above average food ( for airline food), complimentary wine, even the seating was not as cramped as I have endured ( on NW Airlines- worst flight experience ever in 2005.)"
Cons: "I have not one complaint"
Pros: "Stewardess was very kind and engaging, even in the middle of the night!"
Pros: "I liked a straight nonstop flight. Clean and comfortable."
Cons: ""Free WiFi, not free.""
Cons: "Overhead light did not work properly."
Cons: "No entertainment to speak of."
Cons: "Not enough bathrooms. It is a real shame that United offers a grand total of 4 bathrooms for the entire economy class. People were always lined up! Compare with Lufthansa's A340 where you go downstairs and there are 7 bathrooms plus waiting space, where they also offer water, juice, chocolates, etc."
Cons: "Flight was delayed, missed my connection"
Cons: "Cramped. Freezing on flight"
Cons: "For the second time in a row, the Houston Airport crew did not transfer the luggages to Air Canada."
Pros: "I liked that the stewardess in the muskegon to Chicago flight gave us the gate numbers that we needed since there was a delay and we were very pressed with time."
Cons: "The weather delay but there is nothing to control that yet..."
Pros: "Entertainment"
Cons: "Tried to book legroom online and by phone but told it was all sold out; only to arrive and find out it wasn't and had to pay $40 more."
Cons: "My connection was clear across the airport, it was quite the trek when the second flight was already boarding"
Cons: "Seat was inoperable and frozen in upright position in business class cabin. Last to order entree had only 2 of 7 choices remaining and fish was extremely unappetizing presentation."
Pros: "Food was very good, almost restaurant-level. Wine selection was good as well"
Cons: "While on the plane at the gate, had to wait 20 mins for someone to hang my jacket (had to ask and the person came back 5 mins later) despite the fact that the attendant immediately checked on the guy next to me when he sat down, who apparently had status with United (attendant ignored me). I guess a $7,000 fare doesn't warrant special attention. I had to ask the same attendant for other items at times, but he'd forget and I'd have to ask someone else. Also, the seats were decent yet a bit crowded IMHO. I'm 5'10" and my feet were crammed up against the front of the space when fully reclined. The width of the seat area was a bit tight as well. Finally, they have 2 heads (toilets) that serve both the business class section ( maybe 50 people) as well as the front of economy. One of the pilots was waiting at the same time as me and agreed that it was a pretty questionable layout for the number of seats covered. All in all, not my favorite airline and nothing on this trip so far changed that view."
Pros: "UAL gate agents were nice."
Cons: "TSA precheck still funnels in with non-precheck passengers and I had to take out my laptop even with precheck. Not efficient."
Cons: "Flight was delayed 2 hours. Our priority tagged bags were not given priority and came out later."
Pros: "Needed wheelchair assistance and the wheelchair was not available right away to catch my next flight. If it wasn't for the airport employees running to take me to my next flight I would have never made it"
Pros: "Rud staff"
Pros: "Flight crew attention and dedication"
Cons: "Charge for everything but breathing air"
Pros: "Flight attendants were very nice. The plane was clean."
Cons: "The economy seats are TOO CLOSE TOGETHER. Attendants NEED to be more aware of the size of carry-on items and the amount each person brings onto the plane. People in the front 10 rows of the plane should not be putting their luggage in the back, taking up space so people in groups 3-5 have space to put their luggage."
Pros: "Good entertainment for a long flight."
Cons: "A power jack could come handing."
Cons: "Unreliability of airline service, 7-hour delay! Food is horrible."
Pros: "Getting to Rome on time"
Cons: "United"
Pros: "Great flight"
Pros: "Nothing, please..."
Cons: "I had a connection flight to San Francisco and then from there to Honolulu and the flight from Portland to SF got delayed 5 times to up to 4 hours late so I would've missed my second flight from SF to HNL. They couldn't do anything about it so they put me on the next available flight, the next MORNING. So I had to go spend a night in a hotel which I had to pay for and wait for the next flight in the morning the next day. Next day the flight got delayed yet again this time little over 2 hours. So I would've missed the flight from San Francisco do Honolulu yet again. This time they managed to find a little later flight and put me on that but still had to wait at the airports for over 8 hours. Super mad about how United works... Had problems with my boss as well because I was supposed to work the next day but they rescheduled my flight for that day. Really not a pleasant experience..."
Pros: "More luggage storage (overhead and under the seats) on this international flight than on domestic. Most everything else was as expected."
Cons: "The toilets smelled and were messy a few hours into it. (I was on a Korean Airlines flight recently and their toilets were always clean and nice!). The crew were mostly efficient and worked well together BUT only one (out of the 4 or 5 in our section) smiled at passengers and looked like she was actually enjoying her job. One blanket wasn't cleaned well enough."
Pros: "The crew was fantastic ! My daughter was anxious during some unexpected turbulence and she was very supportive . Movies and entertainment were good . Food , acceptable."
Cons: "The space allotted per person is ridiculous. And I upgraded to extra leg room ... What extra legroom ??"
Pros: "Crew was courteous and professional. Kept us informed as to why we were delayed."
Cons: "The 6 hr maintenance delay. Food could have been better."
Cons: "Just awful. Original flight was cancelled, delaying my travel schedule. Airlines did a horrible job giving us timely updates on flight status, thus hindering us in trying to find alternate flights or travel options. Upon arrival in Rome almost 24 hours later, almost half of the flight's passengers had bags that didn't even mare it onto the plane. I was among them. What carelessness, and stupidity on the part of united employees. Horrible inconvenience, worst travelling experience that I've ever had!"
Pros: "United always is superior to other Airlines once up in the air"
Cons: "We flew standby and United had problems with their first flight to Portand from San Francisco causing an overbooking situation. This the second time this year I have experienced this problem We literally were the last two people on the flight and it was very stressful as were meeting other family members to drive up to Seattle."
