Cons: "Avianca overbooked the flight by 10 passengers. They would not board the flight until they got 10 volunteers to except only $240 voucher for delaying their flight by one day. It took them three hours to accomplish that. The hot food had been delivered on time to the plane, so that also sat for three hours. By the time it was served during the flight it had turned to rubber. This was all together a dreadful experience. We missed our connecting flight in Los Angeles and Avianca airlines provided no help on that. ."

Pros: "Before our flight, several people were called to the check-in desk. These were obviously frequent flyers because later we saw these individuals sitting in Executive Class. Felt a little jealous, because I'm not a frequent flyer, but it was nice to see how Avianca takes care of its regular customers. Everything about the flight was first class, even if I was sitting in coach. The staff were friendly and helpful, the plane was comfortable--a 787, everyone's favorite--and the food was actually very tasty: chicken breast with a delicious green curry/salsa, some rice, green salad. Water and juices were available in the aft galley in between the meal and light snack before arrival. The entertainment offerings were terrific. If I hadn't had such great traveling companions to chat with, I would have caught up on some new releases I had missed, or one of the classics--"Singing in the Rain," "Citizen Kane," and much more. I don't know how you could improve the customer experience. Great job, Avianca!"

Pros: "I fly avianca often and their service sometimes very, this particular time the crew was very professional and polite. We did good timing, but I do need to add that avianca has never been late to a fly I have taken, always on time. Food has changed, it used to be better and more generous but food in general on a plane these days is not the reason why you would enjoy flying."

Pros: "When Taca was managing it was a total disaster: Now under Avianca we experienced great courtesy from the crew, acceptable food and snacks, and prompt service. Taca took the prices to the ceiling and it was a shame to pay 900.00dls for a trip to El Salvador.to make it worst they threw peanuts and soda y our trays, which was poor second class service. It took us almost 10 years to return to Avianca/Taca. but now we are pleased. Definitely your best point is CUSTOMER SERVICE. ( pRICES STILL HIGH). tHANK YOU."
Cons: "VOLUME ON THE ANNOUNCEMENTS ARE TOO LOW, AND HARD TO UNDERSTAND BECAUSE THEY RUSH, CREW SHOULD SPEAK SLOW, PAUSED AND CLEAR ON BOTH LANGUAGES, ESPECIALLY IN ENGLISH SO TO MAKE IT UNDERSTANDABLE FOR ALL."

Cons: "After arriving in San Salvador from San Jose, another passenger informed us that there was a flight departing for LAX at around 3:30 PM. Considering that our flight was scheduled to depart at 7:25 PM, we decided to ask the customer representative at the Avianca information desk if there were any open seats available on our flight home to LAX. She informed us that there were open seats BUT we would have to pay an extra $200 to board that flight. I have been on other airlines before and they have offered me the option to get on an earlier flight - FREE OF CHARGE. Considering I had bought my complete, round trip ticket for $435, the idea of paying an extra $200 for one leg of my journey seemed ludicrous! So I stayed the 6+ hours in El Salvador. Fast forward 6 hours and the desk agent at our gate announces that our flight is completely booked and they are offering $300 for anyone who will give up their seats. I am PISSED. Avianca knew our flight was overbooked and had the opportunity to take two passengers off the list and free up seats for the next flight! Instead, they chose to make us wait and delayed our flight. I do not understand Avianca's customer service procedures. Why would you not put my friend and I on the next flight when you know the next flight is going to be overbooked and possibly delayed? I'll I know is that if I can avoid flying with Avianca in the future, I will do it."

Cons: "I had an original seat that I paid for, but because the flight was overbooked and oversold, i moved three times to different sections towards the back of the plane, in the end where my seat did not have electricity, light, or the tv working. I moved because there was a family that wanted to sit together, and that I completely understand, but what I don't get is why I wasn't told or given a seat of equal value that I Paid for. it was an 8 hour flight without light to read, no tv to watch and no music."

Pros: "On flight home I had seat 1 c on my ticket so I went to coach to find 1c. I soon found out that 1c was business class !! It was wonderful sitting up there. My friend booked the flight and even she didn't realize 1c was business class. I had a wonderful flight back to LAX in 1c. The crew was special as well. Nelson made me feel special as well as rest of crews."

Cons: "Poor check-in process at Avianca counter BOG, very slow attendant who seemed to go through the motions. Flight number changed twice, seat selection which was confirmed twice, was dropped at the end, forcing me to reselect seats located in the back of the plane. This was very annoying as I had kept abreast of all airline emails regarding flight number changes, and yet at the end it was for naught as my traveling companion and I were placed in different sections. The dinner was worse than usual poor quality."
