Boarding: I was asked to check my carry on complimentary. I assume the staff believed my handbag was too big. Crew: n/a outside of the snack service. Comfort: the turbulence was so bad I was nauseous. I looked for the bag behind the seat and it looked used. Food: n/a except for the complimentary cookies. Those taste good. Entertainment: only allowed for Sprint/T-Mobile customers for some reason. My flight two days before included entertainment so this was disappointing. American Airlines spelled my name incorrectly which resulted in me being unable to use pre-check on both flights. I am overall disappointed with this experience.

The flight was an hour late getting into New Orleans. We landed in Philadelphia 30 minutes late. We sat on the tarmac for 20 more minutes. I ordered a wheelchair because I cannot walk such distances. None came after 30 minutes. I had to walk in short spells to get to baggage. It was a disaster flight. Lucky it was not cancelled.

Liked everything about this flight. They could have been a little more transparent as to the delay. But the pilot did get us to our connection with plenty of time to spare.

Great crew!

Both ticket agents and flight attendants were very pleasant to deal with. There was no entertainment on the flights and the charger in my seat was inoperable.

Cons: "American Airlines cancelled a flight because of ‘weather’ from Msy to dfw, all other flights from Msy to Dallas operated on time but were sold out. We were re booked flying through San Francisco, missing out on flying on qantas, which is what I had paid for since they are a premium airline. We were booked on virgin America and then United for the international flight. United charged us each for 2 bags totalling $150 each, despite we booked a ticket with qantas which allows 2 bags each. Virgin America honoured our 2 bags, but united refused to. United also has service and aircraft which do not match the levels of qantas which I has specifically sought out. I could not eat some of the food because of the poor quality, and this is something I’ve never done before on an international flight. Additionally their were a lack of amenities on both flights, and no food vouchers despite our travel delay of over 5 hours. This whole ordeal has cost me money, worktime, and created a lot of stress to where I have had to cancel meeting on my arrival in Sydney."

Cons: "Flight was delayed 2 hours, then moved to the next morning at 6am. Before we got to the hotel, the flight was pushed back to 8am. All for mechanical reasons. We've flown this route before, and have had an abnormally high number of mechanical issues. They seem to use older planes for these shorter flights, and it really shows. Technology could really help ease these situations. American's app does not allow you to look at rebooking options, so we had to stand in line for a solid 30 minutes to speak to an agent. Since it was the last flight of the night, there were only 3 agents there to help an entire plane's worth of people. Calling American didn't help. They couldn't help with hotel/food vouchers. These types of vouchers seem like something else that could be distributed through the app or electronically, eliminating the need to stand in line and grow increasingly frustrated. To add to the fun, the vouchers were not event enough to get a hot dog and drink for dinner, then a coffee and pastry for breakfast. Once we got the vouchers, trying to get to the hotel was a disaster. They had 1 van, so they could get about 10 people every 30 minutes. We just took and Uber, and were eating in the restaurant by the time others were still arriving from the shuttle. There was no one from American there to help coordinate with the hotel or shuttle. We were like blind sheep wandering around looking for the van. Finally, arrive for the flight the next day, and they start boarding about 10 minutes before the 8am takeoff time. So, of course, we were late getting off the ground. Then, when we arrived in Dallas, our gate was occupied by another plane, so we got to sit on an old plane for an extra 30 minutes until another gate opened up for us. Really, other than crashing, not much else could have gone wrong. Made American look completely incompetent...which is happening more the more we use them. Next time, I'll pay a higher fare to fly with Southwest."

Felt like an exercise to improve flight scorecard performance. The flight landed at least fifteen minutes early...but we didn't have a gate..and ended up departing the plane​approximately on time...but planeside checked baggage took almost thirty additional minutes to finally return to the plane full of waiting customers. Felt way too long....and the ground crew didn't seem to appreciate that most people had a connection..."

I should get into Atl around 7:00. Then I will have to take an Iber to get to his house because he has a function for his daughter that I will miss. The people at Spirit were rude and unyielding. The agent at Southwest was kind and understanding and did the best she could . I originally booked Spirit because it was the cheapest. Turned out that it is costing me about $200 and 6 hours more. Spirit, NO MORE!!! I’m"

Cons: "There was nothing to like about this trip because the website would not send me a boarding pass although I checked in online twice the day before, so I never had the opportunity to even get in the gate. I asked for a boarding pass through an email and it didn't come through, twice. I did not think much of it because I have had problems receiving emails from Spirit in the past and I have always been able to log into my account and access the boarding pass on the website. The morning of the flight, the website locked me out and wouldn't allow me to log in. I actually had to leave the security line to try to sort the issue out. The kiosk at the airport told me I was at the wrong airport (I was not). I went to the front desk and the agent was SUPREMELY unhelpful and unconcerned, and marked me as a no show at 7:05 for a flight leaving at 7:25. Even though I was standing right in front of her. Even though I had left the security line to deal with the issue. I had to get to my destination that day, which happens to be the reason I bought a ticket in the first place, so I had to spend an additional $500 on a Southwest ticket because the agent at the front desk of Spirit said I had no other options with Spirit that day. I called customer service and despite escalating the issue to a manager, I was essentially told "sorry for your luck" and sent on my way. The manager even asked, at the end of the call after telling me a refund would not be possible, if I wanted to purchase an airline ticket while I was on the phone. I have bought a fair number of Spirit tickets in the past. I unfortunately already have a ticket lined up with Spirit Airlines in November but I will never be purchasing another ticket from this airline again. It was an absurd scenario - I paid for a ticket and was not able to redeem the ticket I paid for - and I should not be have to pay the price for Spirit Airlines having poor IT."

Cons: "I don’t like that I had to pay $55 to have a carry-on. I travel light for those reasons, and if I’m going to pay extra for a bag I might as well check it and get to take my toothpaste with me. I don’t like that I paid $27 to be in the exit row. There was no tray table on the seat in front of me, or anywhere for my usage. There is no headphone jack. You shouldn’t even ask if I enjoy the entertainment because they don’t offer anything, not even for the people that pay extra money. Also don’t like my seat didn’t recline or have an armrest and overly obese couple that they squeezed in next to me took up all the space of the row. What’s the point of paying extra for comfort, when you get less than the guy who paid nothing and is in a middle seat, who I’m sure he was uncomfortable and miserable as well. I also don’t like that you have to pay for water!! Who makes you pay for water!? Not even the peanuts or the pretzels were complimentary… Absolutely never ever flying with this airline ever again! The cheap airfare was definitely not worth the lack of professionalism and being taken advantage of to have to pay for every extra thing that should be expected in regular travel."

Cons: "Where do I start. We had a 8am flight from New Orleans to Orlando and arrived at the airport at 6:30am only to be told our flight was delayed. Ok, delays I've handled before. We'll be patient and wait for the now 10am flight. Well the flight was delayed over 5 more times and didn't actually leave until 9:30pm. Yes, that's right. We spent 15 HOURS at the airport waiting for this 1 1/2 hour long flight. Every other spirit flight around us either left on time or was delayed an hour or 2 max. We waited 15 hours. Why didn't we leave and come back later you ask? Well because the flight time kept changing!!! First it was at 10am, then 12pm, then 2pm etc. I felt like a mouse with someone dangling cheese in front of me and leading me by the nose. Just a little further and you can reach it. I've been flying for over 20 years. NEVER had a experience like this one. Thank you to the staff and crew who were only following orders and tried to answer questions and later were encouraging and apologetic once we actually got on the plane. Cons: "Three of the four flights on our recent trip from Seattle to New Orleans were Canceled. Stop over in Las Vegas on the way there flight cancelled to New Orleans---3 hours in line at airport only to find next flight out 24hours later. Told due to weather. Next day we returned to airport to be told our flight again cancelled --this time pilots did not show for flights--placed on another airline and got to New Orleans 36 hours later then Planned. Four days later flights home from New Orleans to Seattle also cancelled. Long wait on hold with Spirit costumer service and no reason given for cancelled flight again. Asked and received refund form Spirt for those legs of flight then booked a flight home on different airline. We will never fly Spirit again. We feel sorry for their employees having to work for such an inept company. We lost a day and half of New Orleans time and two nonrefundable nights at our hotel in NO. Including cabs, and hotels over $700.00 lost plus the stress."

Cons: "You have to pay for everything. Its a cheep ticket until you realize everything you would expect from any othe airline costs extra. I have to pay extra to sit next to the people im traveling with, water, snacks... The seats are extra cramped, made of plastic and dont recline. Its never fun or easy to sleep on a plan but it is possible. On this airline it wasn't."

Cons: "Fares may be cheap, but they gouge you on everything else. A carry on bag $57 is daylight robbery. Also overbooked my friends flight and bumped him so the whole trip was ruined because we didn't have much time. The seats are super uncomfortable as well. I guess you have to pay a lot more for a seat that doesn't send you to the chiropractor. Spirit should be ashamed of it's business model. It should be called set the hook with a low initial price then gouge all you can. I even took money to the bathroom because I thought they would charge. That is next by the way. I would have to say my Spirit experience at least matched my many prior experiences​ with United, which is the worst airline on the planet. Spirit maybe second by a slim margin. I will never fly Spirit again. They stink."

Cons: "I did not like almost everything. This airline should be called the nickel and dime airlines. Yes, the initial fare was cheap but then They hit you with $40 baggage fee, a $40 carry on fee and the only free item is about the size of a shoebox. $10 to choose your seat. $14 for what they consider a good seat, and $55 for a premium seat. What airline has seats that don't recline?? Are you kidding me? These seats are the equivalent of school chairs with a 1/2 inch padding for "comfort". When they say bare fare they are not kidding. I hope I never have to fly this airline again. This may sound like a joke but I am surprised they don't sell tokens to use the bathroom. "One token for a $1 but if you buy at the online check in you can get two tokens for a $1"."
Cons: "I always get burned by this airline. $50 checked bag fee? Ridiculous. 2 hr delay with no explanation? Ridiculous. And to add to the mix the random seat generator gave me the last row, window. Ridiculous. Never again. Ringo"
Pros: "Flight crew was friendly."
Cons: "Baggage fees and seat fees turned this "low fare" into a "damn, I should have just booked on Alaska" fare. Forced to sit on the plane at the terminal on the tarmac for 3 hours before take off. Couldn't get off the plane and they wouldn't just switch us to a different and better equipped aircraft. Seats did not recline. For a 4.5 hour flight, this was very uncomfortable."
Pros: "Paying for a $53 conversation with Spirit personnel as my flight was being boarded...without me"
Cons: "Apparently being 40 minutes early for a quality flight on Spirit Airlines just isn't enough time. They would not print my ticket since I wasn't FORTY FIVE minutes early for my flight!!!!!!! My plane was there, I was there, but they wouldn't let me board. I had no luggage to check. I was alone and had one small carry on. These business practices will soon have Spirit in airline heaven."

Cons: "The worst airline customer service I've ever experienced - will never fly Spirit again. The customer service representatives were yelling at us at the airport about bags being too large when they clearly fit into the bins and had been used on previous Spirit flights. In fact, when flying back on Spirit, no one questioned the bag! It just depends on how pissed off the rep is on that given day."
Cons: "zero leg room"
Cons: "Flight was cancelled 1.5 hours before take off and there were no other options available so had to book with another airline on the spot. Am very upset there was no indication of this much prior. There also were no weather issues in the area flying to or from the destinations. Would appreciate a full refund of flight and payment of other flight which was significantly more expensive as I had to buy on the spot. Last time I flew spirit flight was delayed 7 times. Really like kayak but will not be using in the future or considering spirit if issue is not rectified."

Cons: "We arrived at the airport an hour ahead of time. The Kiosk was extremely slow to load which made us 5min late in checking in for our flight. When we went to the desk for help the gentleman told us we need to speak to Ashley Pound the supervisor at the New Orleans airport. We were the first in line to speak to the supervisor and not once in the 45 minutes that we waited did she look up from her computer and not once told she would help us. There was no security line and we had plenty of time to get to the gate before the flight. Finally when she did acknowledge us, we had already missed our flight. She had a poor attitude rolling her eyes, making sarcastic remarks and walking away while we were asking questions. When we asked how we were able to get home she said there was nothing she could do for us. We ended up having to purchase a $1,000 ticket from southwest to fly out the next day. I understand we cut it too close checking in and should have allowed for mishaps to happen especially with this airline but I am astound by the lack of professionalism of Ashley Pound and the spirit airline. When I asked to see where it said we needed to check in a hour in advance she refused to show us so we went to another spirit employee and it took him over 20min. I am very dissatisfied with the customer service at spirit airlines. I have enjoyed spirit airlines in the past but for them to refuse to make this right is a big disappointment."
Pros: "The departure and arrival times were the only reason I chose this airline."
Cons: "I don't care for all of the additional fees such as seating and baggage, and then trying to charge me more because the website didn't work and I had to call their help line. Upon arrival only one of 4 kiosks worked and the staff told us it would cost extra to check in at the counter, so we waited in an unnecessary line with everyone else. When we boarded there was trouble with someone's ticket so they pulled the last 6 of us off to scan our tickets again. The seats and tray tables were in poor condition with noticeable wear and coming apart in multiple places."
Cons: "We need legislation that will require sites like Kayak to honestly depict the price of a standard airline ticket. This should include bag fees and especially fees for carry ons. When customers have to go to the airline website only to find out that each checked bag is $100, carry ons are $100, assigned seats are another $20 and no food is served, Kayak, at that point has become dishonest by not disclosing this information until after it is too late. Please tell us this information in advance, not after the fact. In the mean time, stay far, far away from Spirit Airlines. I can't wait for them to go out of business."
Pros: "I paid twice as much to check bags as I do on other airlines. It costed me a total of $94 to check one bag to and from. Also the customer service was poor. It took forever to claim my luggage because the flight attendants told me an incorrect carousel number. I was on a wild goose in the airport and because of this I obviously don't feel it was worth the extra money checking bags. Also I didn't like that I had to become an online member only to save ten bucks on my returning checked luggage. Don't waste your money!"

Cons: "Not a big fan of the crew making jokes during safety demonstration. Never, Never, Never should they joke about crashing, even if it is clearly a joke. Tray tables absolutely worthless. Could not put my laptop on it seats not at all comfortable. So, overall the cost of the ticket saved me $40 over American, and i got no frills. There was no value here."

I have always been annoyed on other airlines when we pay to check bags, and then they let everyone else drop their bag off at the gate for free. I like that they charge you $100 if you don't check your bag before getting on the plane."

The day that I checked in, I was charged an additional $141.98 in baggage fees & seat fees...can you believe I had to pay for an aisle seat?? REALLY?? If you don't join their "club" ( for $59.99) your baggage fees are higher. I didn't join. Everything costs money...how about $4 for a bottle of water? Again, let us know this WAY UP FRONT! It would have been much cheaper for me to fly United or Delta!"

Pros: "Food options were fine. Boarding was quick and easy. However, they had large seats available in row three and wouldnt sell them to us... Weird. They went unused all 3.5 hrs of the flight. My uncomfortable seat was hurting my arm and I held my baby during his nap and the arm rest put me in a bad position where my hands fell asleep. The captain was polite. Take off and landing was a breeze. No turmoil there."
Cons: "The attendant was so rude. Blonde girl. I won't even get into what she said to us. Then when we landed at LAX the carseat was not at the baggage claim. We had to go buy one because the baggage service was closed at 633pm. A 2.5 hr drive home and during the drive (about an hour afrer leaving the airport) some hispanic guy with an attitude calls and states, "are you gonna pick up this carseat essay?" Wow we about had a heart attack. My husband lost his temper at that point. Your airline can just keep the carseat. Donate it to Baton Rouge victims. We were in Louisiana to donate and volunteer help to flood victims and we fly 25-30 times a year we will never choose this airline again."
