They did accommodate me with a hotel for the night which was nice after almost losing my job. The last and final time I used this airline I was at JFK 2 hours and 45 minutes ahead of time. I was there at 11:45 for a 2:20 flight. They told me I had missed my flight because I wasn't there 3 hours early. No where on my ticket did it say anything about that. There was a lot of people complaining and then they told me since I "missed' my flight I had to by a new ticket on the spot, leaving me with no option and a heafty fee."

Since no one took that offer they ended up rescheduling it and stopping in other places to ale up for the lack of space, what was suppose to be a 6 hour flight turn in a 12 hour flight."

Cons: "I was told hours before my flight that my flight was delayed due to weather in the NYC area and that the new flight time was two hours later. There were no weather issues at this time. This delay made me miss my connection and the only option was for me to have a 24 hour layover in Bogota, Colombia. As a woman traveling alone this was not acceptable to me but I had no other choice. I got a hotel room for the evening and tried to make the best of it. I was not offered any compensation for this inconvenience, nothing, not even an offer to pay for my hotel room. Similar things happened to three other people in my group that I was meeting in Peru all traveling from different locations. I lost an entire day in Peru because of this. On my return flight Avianca changed the times as well and I was forced to take an earlier fight home the day before I was scheduled to leave. I therefore lost a total of two days of my vacation because of Avianca and they did NOTHING to compensate me for it. STAY AWAY FROM THIS AIRLINE!!!"

They proceeded to tell us that our only option was to stay the night and take another flight the next day. Us and 10 other people had to get into an argument with the staff in order for something to be done. After begging, they finally said they would put us on an earlier flight the following morning and they put us in a hotel. The staff did not care about us or our missed flight/wasted money that we paid for the hotel at our destination that night. It took 30 minutes for a manager to give us the time of day. Horrible experience. It's really shocking that this is how the company treats its customers."

Now my only complaint regarding the small airplane from MTY to NYC is that the entertainment is provided via a mobile device, yet there's no ports for charging it, and there's no way a device will last that long, which made the whole excercise totally useless."

Boarding procedure was just awful, if you have older family members who can barely use phones dont get them on this airline, they require you get your own boarding pass through the app and pay for your baggage there also which the app sucks, even after you pay you have to show them you paid if not they will charge you again ohh and they charge you $15 to print your pass which is crazy every other airline clerk does this procedure at the counter and prints it for you, and they dont even give you a wheel chair even if you requested months ago, never again in my books.

Nos cambiaron el vuelo unas horas antes, salíamos a las 6 de la tarde y lo adelantaron 10 horas !! Éramos 7 pasajeros y solo le avisaron a uno, de milagro nos enteramos, pero eso fue a las 11 de la noche del día anterior, fue muy complicado llegar al vuelo. Para rematar, antes de abordar del mostrador nos anunciaron que pasáramos al baño del aeropuerto por que los baños del avión no servían, lo cual era mentira por que durante el vuelo si se usaron, no se cual fue el motivo de ese comentario. No vuelvo a volar con Volaris nunca más, lo evitaré a menos que sea la única opción.

Instead, Volaris sent me to Los Angeles (they gave me the option of flying to Fresno, but 5 days later. I don't live in Guadalajara and that was not my final destination). In Los Angeles, I had to take a cab from the LAX to the Bus Station, take the bus to Fresno (spend all night on the bus) and take a cab to the Fresno airport to pick up my automobile. Thank you Volaris . . . great job!"

Cons: "1. The original flight I purchased was less than $100, Volaris cancelled it and the only flight available for me to purchase was then $150. 2. After I purchased the 2nd flight, I called within seconds because I noticed my mother’s name was on the ticket instead of mine! I had previously purchased her flight and somehow the kayak site had auto populated her name, i know for a fact did I did not type in her name, it is longer Han mine and has a middle name, i don’t even have a middle name. I think it was justfly, the third party who sent the confirmation email, I explained the situation, they took my contact information and since I had just called they would reach out to Volaris to see if they could change it to my name, and would reach back out to me within a few days. They never called/emailed me back. When I called Volaris they charged me a name change fee off $80+... I don’t know if anyone cares about customer service at Kayak, I have been purchasing all my personal flights through Kayak since 2007, this is by far the worse ticketing/airline experience I have ever had. Also, Volaris charged me $10 for my backpack that I store underneath the seat in front of me! They are a terrible airline, that straight out rips people off. This is the last time I fly with them, and probably last time I use Kayak."

Cons: "They tried to charge me for carry on luggage even though I was under weight and under size. They aggressively tried to take my carryon and told me I had to pay 41$ per bag or I could not get on plane. Only when I asked for a manager and found someone to interpret for me and show with a measuring tape and we did they allow me on... total scam - the gate attendant conned at least 15 people before us that had smaller bags that they had to pay (very aggressively in Spanish and many passengers did not speak Spanish so gave in and payed just to get on flight). Once on the flight- you can adjust your seat which for me wasn’t a big deal at 5’1” but any taller would be an issue. You pay for even water on this flight."
Cons: "Delays are understandable but the messaging was the problem, staff created chaos by handing out limited incorrect information. This Encouraged passengers to overcrowd the information booths. Plus a two hour wait on the tarmac,horrible!!"

Pros: "We got to the airport and the lady that helped us add an extra bag was amazing trying her hardest to make it the cheesesteak possible. She weighed and re weighed our bags until we had the cheapest option. We ended up having to pay for 1bag upgrade (2-55lbs) that was 75$ Then the flight it’s self the flight attendants were every nice and tried to wander any questions I had. Chips were stale. Comfort of the flight was no worse than any other flight I’ve been on."
Cons: "I will not book with kiwi.com EVER again because they messed up my baggage. I originally wanted 3-55lb bags but bought 5-33lb bags when I enquirer about upgrading to 3-55lb bags they ended up miss understanding my wishes and took away 2bags and I still only had 33lbs per bag... by then it was to close to the date we were leaving so they couldn’t fix it and I was told I wasn’t going to get a refund... and that I would have to buy my baggage upgrade at the airport. I could try but it wasn’t likely."
