Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Kind, friendly staff, boarded on time"
Pros: "Exceptional service and staff"
Cons: "Food isn't usually this subpar."
Pros: "The staff was positive, the plane had a movie to watch (although quite a dated system), but there was only drinks given so not much to write home about there."
Pros: "The staff was kind and courteous. Food was ok and they gave us snacks"
Cons: "The seats on the air rouge plane’s were tiny. I’m 5’2 and I was ok because my seat-mate was also small, but if you’re tall or wide, these flights will be uncomfortable. Note: this was an international flight(8hrs). Small seats and no in-flight movie. There was a flight delay due to weather (40 mins) on the way home. I get it. On the way to our destination there was a 4 hour delay due to a problem at the airport. Though frustrating, probably not air canada’s Fault."
Pros: "The seats were large with lots of legroom even in regular economy"
Cons: "The departure was delayed 75 minutes. Boards at the airport were not updated quickly. My entertainment system did not work but everyone else's did. The cabin crew wasn't very friendly"
Cons: "4 hours delay to YYZ from MSP, 2 hours delayed to MSP from YYZ."
Cons: "Would nice to have better and more movie choices"
Cons: "Was late and crow Did not care abut passangers"
Cons: "More a problem with Toronto Airport then Air Canada. However, the planes do not have enough room for comfort."
Pros: "Easy boarding."
Cons: "Video screen loose and no volume control, so Oud I couldn't watch. No food-na more applicable. Seats uncomfortable and tight."
Pros: "courteous flight crew"
Cons: "poor service at the gate....the staff does not care, does not answer questions, avoids looking into problems until the last minute I was told there is no way I will be upgraded when I asked and then when boarding I get an upgrade into a middle seat which I totally hated food is not good entertainment selection is ok"
Pros: "The whole experience from boarding to landing was great. Zone 2 boarding is one of the first called and the premium economy section has larger seats that recline more and don't affect the person behind as much. Food was decent and serve on a ceramic plate with real silver wear. On demand entertainment was adequate with a number of recent titles and even audiobook options."
Cons: "The section was set up in a 2-3-2 seat configuration and I booked the middle 3, but were given 2 in the middle and one one the left aisle. One of the middle seats was left open for the pilot to come back and watch movies during the flight. When I asked the attendant if we could swap the left aisle with the "pilot's" the attendant made it seem like it was a bigger deal but eventually asked the pilot who said he didn't mind. After all, it was just changing one empty seat to the other side of the aisle."
Cons: "weather grounded non stop flight... required my finding a hotel for overnight... loss of MSP hotel, and two days rental car, too... costly and not reimbursable because "act of nature"... earliest way to MSP they said was via Nashville w/long layover... then connecting to Delta upon arrival in MSP, checked bag didn't arrive... it was filled w/medical equipment and AC couldn't tell us where it was... Delta bent over backwards to assist... AC was non-commital and not helpful at all... waited for incoming flights at the airport MSP for 8 hours... no bag... finally, Delta gave us vouchers for dinner and put us in a hotel... when it as really Air Canada's fault... etc, etc..."
Pros: "Flights attendants were very attentive and helpful on flight."
Cons: "Entertainment system was quite outdated and not user friendly, but it was nice to have it offered."
Pros: "The flight attendant was excellent!"
Cons: "Felt like a budget flight. We've flown air Canada in the past and this flight seemed like their low end fleet"
Pros: "Service was amazing. Flight was intime and they helped me with my luggages to be transferd directly to the last country eventhough they are two seperate booking"
Pros: "On time. Comfortable."
Cons: "Entertainment system had ads. Too many."
Cons: "I was refused boarding after being told I could fly. A horrible experience--rebooking for my wife and I cost us 1,000 dollars."
Pros: "All was well. Thanks"
Pros: "The woman I spoke to on the phone was pleasant and helpful. It's certainly not Air Canada's fault that my flight was canceled, but communication and support structures could be better."
Cons: "I think more support staff are needed, especially during the winter during bad weather. I discovered my flight was cancelled when I randomly walked past the departures board on the way to the bathroom--no announcement was made at the gate. There was no one at the gate. I waited for 30+ minutes on hold on the phone, while waiting in an unmoving line at the terminal's single customer service desk, before being booked on a new flight."
Cons: "I wish Air Canada sent check-in emails for flights in as well as out. I didn't get a reminder check-in email when I was flying out and that worried me a bit that there may be something wrong with my reservation. It also irritated me that because I had booked my flight through Kayak and not Air Canada directly I was not able to make any changes to the reservation online - I had to call their reservation phone number (from another country) and be put on hold for 20 minutes (so needless to say it was an expensive phone call)."
Pros: "Staff was really friendly, the flight attendant was even wearing a little witch hat for Halloween, which I really liked. Due to an underbooked flight, we had free choice of seat, because I originally was booked on an aisle seat, I could change to a window seat, that was nice. Since it was a small machine from Toronto to Minneapolis (a little more than 1,5h flight), there was no entertainment system, besides the nice view out of the window. And who likes to start a movie during such a short flight, to not be able to finish it? They also ask you to hand in your carry-on before you enter the plane, because there is not enough space for it inside, which I liked, no wiggeling along the aisle with a little trolley, I just fetched it outside the plane after we landed."
Cons: "Unfortunately, Air Canada didn't serve gluten-free snacks on any of my flights yet (I had good gluten free food though). This is not meant as a negative review, because as an allergic you're usually prepared. It's more a suggestion for gluten-free snacks, peanuts or m&m's work as well as most gummy bears or chocolates :)"
Pros: "they food I did purchase was pretty good."
Cons: "no snack at all, was all food for purchase. The inflight entertainment was nothing if you didn't have their Air Canada App."
Pros: "We got home but later then expected."
Cons: "Coming home late. Going thru customs took too long. No one to help with directions at Toronto Airport"
Pros: "- On time performance - Friendly crew - Comfortable flights"
Cons: "The gate facility at the Toronto airport was worse than a bus terminal. It was over-crowded and chaotic. Again, we boarded through the tarmac and not through a walkway."
Cons: "Though not in your control, we had a two hour late start. The gate area was crowded with too little seating. It was so far from the main airport area that refreshments were hard to get. The airline did give some snacks but nothing very substantial. Our 8:30 something flight didn't get off until after 10."
Cons: "The boarding gate for small aircraft is very far away from the terminal. There was not enough seating for all those waiting for flights"
Pros: "Efficient boarding."
Cons: "Strong stink coming from bathroom. We were seated toward he back (maybe 2-3 rows from the restroom and it was strong smelling at times."
Pros: "Apart from food there was nothing great about the flight"
Cons: "The staff is the worst, the air hostesses are rude and treat you bad. The service is very poor."
Cons: "The flight attendants were overwhelmingly rude and unhelpful."
Cons: "Delayed baggage took 3 days to get to my home. Flight attendant had assured me that the bag (sports equipment) made the connection which it hadn't."
Pros: "Able to check carry on before boarding."
Cons: "The flight was delayed an hour and the lounge was not large enough to accommodate all of the passengers in Toronto."
Cons: "Cancelled, terrible service, cancelled last minute, no reasonable options for rebooking, not enough staff, disorganized section at airport, rudest security ever."
Pros: "Crew and staff on board aircraft were very friendly"
Cons: "Checking in process in Toronto was a mad house. No organization and extremely slow! The aircraft was very crammed and very stuffy. I'm allergic to dust and I coughed the whole 2 and a half hour flight. The legroom is horrible. I'm 5'7" and my knees were pressed up against the seat in front of me. Definitely first and last time flying w/ Air Canada"
Cons: "Overly crowded in the are awaiting for flight. It was not organized well and you could tell staff was getting on edge from customers asking about boarding. The departure times should be spread out to avoid this."
Pros: "-Free entertainment system -Included electrical outlets for every seat"
Cons: "-During boarding I was forced to measure my carry-on and told it was too large despite taking it on hundreds of flights (including numerous Air Canada flights) in the past. Not the best first impression of this Air Canada flight."
Pros: "Nothing at all actually"
Cons: "Old tiny plane, delayed two hours because of what seemed like sheer stupidity. I mean we had to wait an extra 30 mins on top of the regular delay time because they loaded the bags wrong. I had already been traveling over 24 hours due to the time zone differences and this last flight was just intolerable. Certainly it could have been worse, but this was just terrible already."
Pros: "Overall everything was good during the whole flight."
Cons: "There is not anything that I can say that was wrong with this flight"
Pros: "Food was actually pretty good and the staff did reasonably well even though most of the customers were clearly unhappy."
Cons: "A majority of flights run by Air Canada to the US were delayed. If this had been due to weather, fine, but at least our delay was caused by mechanical malfunction. Our flight was delayed for 5 hours due to multiple different mechanical issues including that the bathroom would not function during the entire flight, the wing flap had issues and the door would not seal correctly. The flight immediately preceding ours to Minneapolis was also delayed by over 4 hours. Surprisingly the flight before that also had a bathroom malfunction that prevented customers from using the bathroom. If this was the exception we could understand, but looking at the history of our flight, it's only on time 23% of the time. The poor customer service people must hate their lives. Something needs to change."
Pros: "Customer care hotline service over the phone was great! They took care of all my problems and was very nice."
Cons: "Customer service at the airport needs to improve tremendously!"
Pros: "Lines werent too bad, staff well-trained and great attitude to passengers, had entertainment system."
Cons: "There could be better access to snacks and drinks - came trhough twice on a long flight.entertainment system was so dark, hard to see."
Pros: "It was short, thank goodness since our flight was delayed twice."
Cons: "The small claustrophobic feel of the plane. Every time the steward pushed the cart up,the aisle he bumped into me and was kind of rude."
Cons: "Short movie list"
Pros: "GOOD LEG ROOM"
Cons: "THE FOOD STILL SUCKED."
Pros: "I liked the cleanliness of the plane and how the crew were kind and helpful. I liked that it was a direct flight, but I had to pay around $150 more than other flights available because this one worked best for me for my timeline of travelling."
Cons: "I did not like how the lights were kept on for the entire red eye flight. I flew to China last year on a different airline and the plane was kept dark once we took off so people could sleep. I would have preferred if the crew also only gave drinks at the beginning of the flight after take-off and the end before we landed, rather than in the middle of the flight, interrupting people's sleeps. The flight was more expensive than many I saw available and wasn't worth it other than the fact it was a direct flight."
Pros: "Got me to minneapolis"
Cons: "Boarded via small rickety stairs. Flight delayed over an hour."
Pros: "There was no food or entertainment, so nothing to ratr"
Cons: "Left very late, bumpy ride and bathroom was broken."
