No special diet options. 1 bag of chips with the sandwich and late in the flight a 1/2 oz.( yes .5 oz.) bag of snack mix. A 4 oz. glass of water, juice or soft drinks were offered about every hour."

Cons: "HA has older 767s that have few entertainment options for the long flights, bring your own. Honolulu airport is immense and the distance from the gate to the baggage is very long and there is only one small stretch of moving walkway and no assistance carts. If you have trouble walking a mile, get a wheelchair. Same thing at Phoenix terminal 3. Long walk from gate to baggage without any assistance whatsoever."

Cons: "I purchased this flight through kayak via Expedia, and I selected seats on the Expedia website for all my flight legs. For some reason, my seat selections did not communicate with Hawaiian Airlines. As a result, during boarding, I was assigned a random seat. The flight from HNL-PHX was completely full, and I got stuck with a seat which had no windows in the row right in front of the galley and bathrooms. I suggest that Expedia communicate better with HA on seat assignments."

Then had to suffer through an emergency landing due to hydraulic failure on the flight back to New York. Was not a fun experience watching the fuel being dumped into the ocean for an hour."

I think they ought to treat the flight as an international flight when it comes to beverage and snacks..."

Cons: "I was unable to select a seat within the 24 hour window prior to departure, other than paying an $80 upcharge for an aisle seat. On the phone the day prior to departure, I was told by the HA agent that "the airport controilled seat assignments" at that timne so she could not help me get a seat, and that the extra charge option on the website was the only choice I had. This process struck me as bizarre/dishonest. I will not be back unless I can select a seat prior to booking."

There was very little legroom even though these were sold as first class seats. The plane was old and dirty, the armrests were sticky."

Usually feel like it is an inconvenience to ask for more than one.... but they offered 2! I was very happy to hear that!!"

Pros: "I had paid for the Sky level as we were a party of long legged people. Out of the 4 flights we had taken, the best flight was the one from Hi to Atl. The seats, and leg space, was roomy. The food was good. The crew was just okay. They weren't particularly nice but rather abrupt. There were two mates that seems a bit confused. However, the plane was worth it."

Pros: "entertainment system included lots of good choices and free. Crew attentive and friendly. Fairly comfortable seating. Boarding was quick (with Delta Amex card). Several snack choices instead of just the old standby of pretzels."

He took time to chat with us and answer our questions, which made me feel more comfortable about the long flight. The stewards/stewardesses were very nice and had us laughing on their welcome messages. The lay-flat seats in first class were the best. Very comfortable, and easy to fall asleep in, without disruption from other passengers who insist on keeping their reading lights on while everyone is trying to sleep."

Pros: "We were late leaving and missed our very tight connection at JFK. When we went to an agent we found we had been already rebooked on another flight through Detroit arriving 2.5 hours later than original. Our luggage was also rerouted to follow our flights and was there in Phoenix!"

Pros: "The trip started off poorly with a day delay and rebooking hotel and car at final destination. Not to mention our final destination is San Antonio not Phoenix. We were not rebooked for a flight from PHX to SAT. But after a few hours we were finally booked. We didn’t really appreciate the 7 hour layover at 0100 in the morning and nowhere to get a meal or even coffee. However, the flight had the same crew from the night prior and they were excellent. The flight was open so we were able to get more leg room, less waiting time for the bathroom, and pretty much one on one service from our flight attendants. With all the struggle in the beginning, this particular flight was actually the best flight I have been on."
Cons: "We were ok with the hotel and meal vouchers however, again, the only part of our itinerary looked at was the first flight, not the second into SAT. Had we not questioned the agent, we would have been stuck in PHX with no room, no car, and if we eventually would have gotten a flight, our reservations for car and hotel in SAT would have been cancelled and I would have been out $1700. I already lost money but it could have been worse. Basically, I am paying for a car and room that I am not currently in. Reimbursement for that would have been nice. Either way we will still travel using the travel service and this particular airline in the future."

A very special experience with the local ticket agent / boarding agent (double duty) in Guadalajara: Maria Hernandez (or perhaps Fernandez) who was pleasant, professional, helpful and even called us respectfully by name ("Mr. and Mrs. Petrusek") She is an outstanding representative of American Airlines! Gracias to her!!"

Cons: "I arrived at the airport and had already checked in and had m boarding passes. For some reason they could not find me when I went to check my bag. After 30 minutes they saw that my seat assignment had been changed and that is why my boarding passes that I had printed at home did not match what their computer showed. I booked this reservation in May and had a seat chosen fairly toward the front. I am 73 years old and the closer to the front I can be helps. When I finally got on the plane to my surprise my seat was the very last seat on the plane across from the restroom. People continued to leave the door open after using the restroom so had to get up and continue to close the door or look at the restroom the whole flight. There was never any explanation as to why they did this. As a result, being lst off the plane, I almost missed my connection as I had to go two terminals over for my connection. At my age I cannot run so I arrived as the last people were getting on the plane. I will never fly American Airlines again."

Cons: "I arrived at HNL nearly 2 hours before my flight. The check-in procedures at HNL were very poor. There were not enough operating machines to help passengers check-in. In fact, there appeared to be more non-functioning machines .than working ones which created a huge backlog of passengers. We then had to wait in another long line to have our bagged checked and boarded. This was one of the worse situations I've seen in a very long time."

Missed connecting flight and booked on flight 5 hours past original departure time. Sat in an aisle seat and stewardess kept bumping my arms."

To my surprise, there had many open space when I walked in the plane. The worst thing was my brand new suitcase was torn. My luggage did not arrive with me. Both of my suitcases were mangled and broken. Items in my suitcases were shattered and crushed even though they were well packed and protected. We got stuck on the terminal in MSP and missed our connecting flight. When we finally arrived the systems were down and could not get new flights or hotels. We were told we could not get hotels and had to argue for an hour. Even though it was a maintenance issue. I arrived a day late and had to take extra leave. The plane from LAX to Tokyo was horrific. I booked a window seat, was stuck in the very middle. There was no way to charge outlets devices. The screen did not work. And my new luggage was also damaged with even more items destroyed."

Pros: "The flight between WA D.C. And Phoenix went well. Very nice staff, orderly onboarding"
Cons: "Arrived in Phoenix and hurried to my next gate for the flight to Palm Springs only to discover a delay in the flight. No marguees were updated, no explanation just the plane had not arrived. Soon after we were told of a gate change, the marquee then said the flight would not arrive until 11 pm it is a one hour flight, so we actually arrived at 10 pm."

Cons: "No room, small seats and no food"

Cons: "The wifi did not work and we were not offered any food, and the beverage choice was only water or coffee. Very old plane with broken seats."

Cons: "all flights delayed"

Pros: "Crew was nice including those helping with boarding."
Cons: "Difficult to recline chair. Limited snack options. Landing was a bit rough."

Cons: "This flight was added as they cancelled my flight directly to London then they dropped this flight and had just Phoenix to Lindon! It took many calls, one with over an hour wait, where were told different stories and expectations. I did not receive an actual ticket until the very morning if this flight!! It was very stressful!"

Cons: "Got to the airline to a 50+ people line where people were checking in flights and baggage. My boarding pass didn't print so I was put in a main customer service line where I was 5th from the front. It took the two agents 35 minutes to get to me...which seems way to long. Employees seem irritable and unfriendly, non helpful attitude. Plane does not have entertainment unless you purchase tablet on a 6 hour flight. No meal service.. Each time I fly American it feels like an inconvience."

Pros: "Nothing"
Cons: "The fact that the flight was delayed and we would have missed our connecting flight to BOS. The next flight out was the following day. We took it upon ourselves to get re-booked on United Airlines. The American travel agent was pleasant but we would have been out of luck if we weren't proactive and frequent travelers trying every flight option available. Finally, after over an hour on the phone we resolved the issue through another carrier."

Cons: "Nearly being bumped off the flight. A tight, uncomfortable seating space."

Pros: "Good looking flight attendants and coffee"
Cons: "When I was boarding they made me put my carry on baggage in with the luggage."

Pros: "It wasn't as terrible as the 1st leg of the return flight"
Cons: "Bad enough the long part of my trip ove seas had no wifi but then the 4 hour domestic flight did not have it either. I had planned to put my flight time to good use and catch up on work so i did not go back to a mountain of work but that never happened. Also, I've never been to an airport where you exit the boarding doors in the terminal then head down stairs to the tarmac to board a bus that make a complete lap of the terminal going near every AA plane obviously trying to figure out which one they need to drop us off at. If can get this close to losing people I now understand how luggage gets lost so often."

Cons: "Ear headphone jack would not turn down, you could hear the show from three seats away and the flight attendant was rude when I asked her for some different headphone to see if it would help. She acted like I was stupid and said "well did you turn it down?" Of course I tried that. I was very taken back by how she acted."

Pros: "The FA was great, she was always checking on us and ensured we were taken care off."
Cons: "The seats were old and didn't recline. The food basket is a joke as it mainly has snacks for mid day or evening flights. Popcorn isn't a breakfast time snack."

Pros: "Quick service. Comfortable seats"

Pros: "The ease of booking on line seemed like a great idea. Sorry I used a third party to do it. It was a BAD experience"
Cons: "There was a $350 charge to make a date change for the return trip on one ticket. I was not able to choose seats when trying to get boarding passes ahead of time unless I wanted to pay for each seat?! so was unable to pre board on line. The customer service for third party is out of India and very unrelenting"

Pros: "Nice new interior"

Cons: "Immediately after all passengers were boarded United discovered the plane had to be replaced. We all had to deplane, wait an hour more for a new A320, and reboard. Also irritating that delays are posted at 15 minute intervals and then updated; so you have to keep updating friends & family via WiFi. If it's predicted to be an hour, say so."

Cons: "Unfortunately flight was delayed for 2 hours on top of a 3h42m layover"

Pros: "I like the price"
Cons: "The seats isn’t made for a big person which is my main complain for ALL Airlines. The charger for my phone wasn’t a USB charger"

Cons: "It was united airlines not ana airlines"

Cons: "Need to pay for everything... internet, tv, and snack. Long flight when you cant fork out more money for what was free with canadian airline"

Pros: "Upgrade and lay flat seats."

Cons: "Too crowded."

Pros: "They were nice. Speak different languages to cover travelers all over the world. But food wasn't that great."

Pros: "I didn't get dragged of a flight due to overbooking. So that is always a positive."
Cons: "United needs to add more entertainment options to all of their flights. Virgin, JetBlue have done this. Why can't United? You have record profits, invest it in inflight experience."

Pros: "Despite the lack of entertainment options, the ability to upgrade to economy plus made my flight comfortable."
Cons: "No entertainment on board, and you need a plugin installed on your mobile device to make their streaming service work, which I didn't have."

Pros: "No wifi, so no entertainment. But we did get 2 packets of snacks!"

Pros: "Not much ~ no movies, no rental video device ~ nothing"

Cons: "There was no working wifi, which was a bit of a bummer. But certainly not the end of the world!"

Cons: "The fact that I had to download an app for onboard entertainment prior o my flight is farcical."

Pros: "Zero leg room! That actually was surprising as most other airlines have a lot more legroom. In flight entertainment was also lacking. Doesn't make sense to pay $7.99 for a 2.5hr flight. A lot of other airlines offer some sort of complimentary in flight entertainment. Also the luggage didn't start coming out for at least 30 mins of waiting at baggage claim. Not the worst experience I've had flying but far from being a good experience. It probably isn't worth flying united unless it's 1st class. But even they had to wait 30+mins for luggage!"

Cons: "$660 in baggage fees for a military traveller who signed up with a U.S. Flag carrier. The whole purpose of choosing United was their baggage limits, instead its just a code-shared flight with ANA as the operator and I end up paying loads to bring home equipment. Will use a budget airline that is more upfront with their fees next time."

Pros: "Overall, the plane seemed newer and was very comfortable."
Cons: "The boarding process was a little disorganized, but being in group 5, it didn't really affect me too much. The crew on board did their job, but they could check on the passengers a little bit more and possibly pass out water or refills to drinks."

Pros: "Good movie selection, easy and unremarkable flight. Great way to travel!"

Cons: "Terrible experience ever!!!!! Didn't get economy plus that I paid for, seats didn't recline and luggage got damaged and was not replaces or compensated for."

Pros: "United got me from point A to point B"
Cons: "Crew was rude, not just to me, but to other patrons. Flight was packed going and the man scanning boarding passes spoke to those of us asking simple questions as if we were stupid and defiant. Was he a prison guard in his previous job? On the way to Newark, I had an aisle seat. One of the stewardesses blazed by me with a cart ramming it into my shoulder without so much as a, "sorry." I'm not a big woman but maybe as I dozed off I leaned over a bit...There is no way she didn't feel her cart hit me. Rudeness, it seems is a part of the culture at United because the flight attendants coming back squeezed past the long line for the bathroom without saying, "excuse me." They did however, say, "I need to get by," and one of them brushed by the gentlemen sitting next to me and bumped his laptop and coffee. Overall it seems that the crew working these particular United flights have forgotten that we pay hard earned money to fly. Some of us are going on vacation, to see loved ones, and some are flying to deal with unpleasant circumstances. The staff may fly several times a day, but most passengers do not. There's a lot of prep and anxiety, that goes into taking a flight and a surly flight crew multiplies that anxiety. No one wants to fly with a crew that hates their job."

Pros: "The plane was a newer version so we could watch movies up close and personal, although I'd prefer the option to stop or pause the movie and also to choose to watch whenever I feel like it, like on the Lufthansa planes... those are great! Many choices and full control to pause or start whenever one likes to..."
Cons: "One of the flight attendants wasn't the friendliest, a bit of a "humph" attitude..."

Pros: "We arrived, and were on time."
Cons: "The following points would be totally ok for a 50 Minute business flight, but not to a 5.5h flight to Hawaii. - Luggage costs extra $25 per direction. This amounts to additional 10% of the total costs. Does anyone not take checked luggage to Hawaii? - The lunch was a savory snack. Really, because a sandwich is too expensive? - Entertainment needs to be purchased extra. Use your existing Directv subscription? Of course not. - Power socket underneath the seat - good idea. One that actually works? Oh wait."

Pros: "Everything else was fine. I was even able to access my luggage in LAX to retrieve my medication, which I accidentally had left in there. Thanks for that."
Cons: "Stewardess was so big and clumsy, that she had to hold on to the overhead bins and wake me up every time she squeezed through aisle and scraped by me. I know you cannot discriminate against big staff, but you have to make the aisle wider if you want your passengers to be comfortable and undisturbed."

Pros: "The return flightf we had our be on from S,an Francisco to Atlanta , we had only 20 minutes to make it to the boarding gate. We were tired and didn't have time to use the bathroom nor eat before boarding. This is because my flight was changed. I'm so upset with United."

Cons: "It would be nice to see a smile and enthusiasm from the attendants. Service? Waited almost two hours before my empty bottle was removed from my tray top. Asian airline attendants can teach UAL's a thing or two about the art of service."

Cons: "Flight was delayed by at least 45 minutes, making me miss my connecting flight. After that I had to wait 7 hours for the next available flight. Also the connecting flight was all the way on the other side of the airport. No one at the airport would help with directions to the next boarding area."

Pros: "Extra legroom in premier economy was great. Entertainment made the long flight quite enjoyable."
Cons: "I liked the 2-5-2 seat arrangement better than this new 3-3-3."

Cons: "The shakedown to buy food or rent a tablet was beyond me. On the way to Honolulu. The young lady next to me had not eaten and it was the third flight on her journey, she had one more flight to go. the pressure from the flight attendant was similar to a very bad used car salesman. Tacky. When the same thing happened to another young person on my flight back, I suspected this is the way United runs its flights. I'm guessing United doesn't treat their employees well. They did just enough to be barely pleasant. I won't fly United again."

Cons: "After a rough start in Honolulu we landed in San Francisco to catch our connecting flight to Chicago but when arriving to the gate before the plane left I along with the other passengers were ignored and given no information as to why we couldn't board the plane. The best they could do was St Louis. Frustrated is an understatement."

Whatever happened to the days when you get on an airplane and food and entertainment was a part of your ticket price! Another thing that bothered me was the fact that I had to pay $25 for my suitcase! Really United! Am I not allowed one piece of luggage? I don't like carry my bags around with me so now I have to pay to check it! Shouldn't that be the other way around! Charge for carry on luggage, it's such a hassle and also slows down boarding time, cases congestion in the hallway with everyone reaching for their luggage in the overhead bins! I can keep going, but what good is it gonna do. United airlines suck!"
