DUE TO the fact that my very last, 55-minute, domestic flight in Colombia was operated by Avianca, it was to my very unpleasant surprise that United decided they were not going to be responsible for the bag which was left behind IN CHICAGO. I emphasize it's in Chicago, because that would not fall under Avianca's responsibility but rather United. I've had an absolutely awful time trying to get in touch with United and Avianca customer service, I've received both conflicting and incorrect/untrue information from both parties, and it's been 4 days now that instead of enjoying my family vacation I've been trying to sort this mess out with my missing luggage. DISASTROUS"

I had no clean clothes and had to throw out my contacts because I had no solution. I also couldn’t use the meal voucher they gave me because everywhere in the airport was closed by that time. No stipend was given for toiletries or food delivery. Very unimpressed."

Food was barely edible. Paid extra for roomier seats on one leg, making it more comfortable, but were extremely tight on another leg which had many empty seats scattered throughout the cabin. Cabin attendants seemed more interested in pushing items that generated revenue than providing the ones that came with the ticket (which is never cheap to begin with)."

So we did, but their earliest we could get us into Chicago was 9:30pm (original arrival was 2pm). We booked the arrangements only to find out that our original flight took off at 10:55 and American didn't even attempt to contact us. The cherry on top was that our flight (which was indirect through SFO) got delayed and we're now going to miss our connection in SFO. So currently looking at 10:30pm arrival in Chicago."

I work at Nordstrom so maybe my expectations are a bit high when it comes to customer service, but if I owned united airlines I would be ashamed of the way United employees treat people. I paid an extra 300 than I had to to get to Hartford Connecticut at the time I chose when purchasing the ticket. Every plane was delayed. EVERY FLIGHT by at least an hour. I missed my connections and was rebooked twice. the average joe customer service lines were ridiculous with the separate priority line having first dibs. The first customer service man I met with was helpful and kind. With the exception of that man and one flight attendant on my trip back to Portland, every employee was indifferent, condescending and in some cases, actually mean. I say that seriously! (I can't believe it either). I am not a difficult person to get along with and I never showed upset despite the many mishaps I encountered on this trip. Customer service is so important and could have made up for the obvious poor planning and lack of communication by which united airlines functions. Unfortunately, I would rather fly any other airline if given the choice after this trip. Even spirit (and let me tell you, I've only flown spirit once and there is a good reason for that). So disappointing. I am upset over my experience and again, will avoid this airline at all costs in the future whenever possible."

The flight crew then told us that the flight was "99% canceled." After that, everyone in the area got up to wait in line, but instead of helping people rebook their flights immediately, the flight crew just disappeared and never came back. I ended up re-booking with a different airline and had to call customer service in order to have my money refunded for that flight. I did receive two travel vouchers, but I'd rather just have the $100 because I'll never book with Spirit Airlines again. Not to mention the literal 280 emails I received the exact same email update over and over and over again telling me that my flight was delayed until the next day. That's right, they never canceled (as they should have) and just delayed it further and further. Cons: "I hated that you guys delayed the flight. Then cancelled it and I couldn't get put on the later flight without paying $120. It was infuriating. I was flying to a funeral and there were no other options but to pay money to make it in time for the service then next afternoon. I would have liked to have credit for my next spirit ticket or something because it was a lot to deal with on the way to a funeral."
Cons: "Charges for everything. $55 for a carry-on bag? Come on (fortunately, I had only a small backpack so I didn't have to pay that)! Extra charges if you want a non-random seat. Bullying at the gate ("If you haven't paid the $55 for your carry-on bags by boarding, I'm gonna charge you $100!!!"). Seats seemed even more cramped than usual. I found the whole experience pretty unpleasant and will generally avoid Spirit."

Cons: "My train was late getting to the airport so the flight had closed when i arrived. Even though I wasn't checking a bag they still wouldn't let me check in. They offered me the same flight the next day for an extra $100. I turned it down since I found a flight the same day for $78 on American (and decidedly a better flight experience)."
Cons: "The crew on the flight home was unprofessional as all get out. They threatened to kick 6 drunks off the plane before we left Las Vegas for being belligerent, loud, and obnoxious and then the crew proceeded to sell and serve them more alcohol. The crew sat back and did nothing while one drunk passenger antagonized another passenger and his girlfriend nearly the entire flight."
Cons: "This airline charges for everything, the seats are uncomfortable, the tray tables were tiny and dirty, the flight attendants have no idea what is going on, they push the spirit credit card (about a 15 minute pitch over the intercom), we had a five hour layover when other flights were available, and it was only a few dollars cheaper than other airlines. I will never fly with Spirit again."

Cons: "My trip started out by me having to $55 to bring my carry-on on the way there and on the way back $45 (when paying online when checking in) and then continued with being seated next to this couple that was making out for half of the flight and the flight staff saying nothing to this couple and me being too uncomfortable to say anything to them and ended with the pilot coming on the intercom to make an announcement to update us that we were prepping for landing but his words were so slurred you couldn't understand a damn thing he was saying because he sounded like he was drunk out of his mind. Overall very unsatisfied and I will NEVER be flying Spirit Airlines ever again!!!"
Cons: "I was charged $55 for a bag I had to carry on. That was after a threat of $100 being charged at the gate. I wasn't given a new boarding pass, which caused several trips (with my bags) back and forth across the airport. That delayed me getting to the gate. They wouldn't let me on the plane, which was still sitting there. I had to go to another airline to get a flight to the family funeral I was headed towards."

Pros: "The flight was pretty much what I expected from a low-cost carrier. They got us from point A to point B. Their personal item is smaller than other carriers (by far) and they WILL ding you for $100 as you board if your item doesn't fit entirely in their cage. Flight was full both ways, but there were no disruptive passengers."

This seemed to be out of the airlines control but it took a very long time to get water and it's too bad you can't serve drinks on the ground. Very uncomfortable seats and there are no screens so you can watch movies or play games."

Cons: "Our flight got cancelled due to mechanica issues (not their fault) but then they had virtually no systems in place to deal with the situation. There was no dispersing of information on our options by the single present employee. We had to contact their corporate offices by phone which was a nightmare in itself, and even then they gave us the run around telling us we had to wait 36 hours for the next flight (although legally they are obligated to get us on a flight within 24 hours). You get what you pay for and these budget tickets came with budget customer service."

Cons: "Designed to be thin for extra legroom, the Airbus 319 seats have no adjustability whatsoever. Fit with hard padding and a fixed curvature leave you with a backache by the end of your flight."
Pros: "It was great getting transferred from Spirit to Delta (even though I've been told "spirit can't dooooooooo that"). At least I did not have to fly with you guys again."
Cons: "You guys sucked so hard I don't know where to start.... You never issued my promised baggage refund and you knowingly re-booked me for a flight that never had annnnnny chance of making it's connection... just to get rid of me and make me someone else's problem."
Cons: "Though the crew was friendly, throughout most of the flight the flight attendants gave pitch after financial pitch about the 'Spirit Credit Card' or the 'Spirit Programs'. The trip was nothing more than a big sales pitch to continue investing in the company. I understand that business is business, but this went too far. Furthermore, after one of my flights was cancelled due to weather, I was informed that the soonest Spirit could fly me out would be 3 days later. Understandably, Spirit is a small airline, so I'm sure this was not uncommon. When I asked to be transferred to another airline to leave sooner, I was told that Spirit was not responsible for getting me to my destination any faster. A woman at the 'help desk' then took a leisurely 45 minutes (while my flight was boarding) telling me that buying any other flight would cost me between $2,000-$3,000. Spirit airlines is treating their customers like credit cards to be swiped. The self-centered money-hungry culture throughout Spirit will surely be their downfall if swift action is not taken immediately."
Cons: "I had checked in and there was no notification of delay or cancellation. Arrived at airport and attempted to print my boarding pass and recurve notification that my flight was cancelled, however status online was not cancelled. Check my bags at the counter. Still nothing said about cancellation. Was told to print my pass at the kiosk, was told my flight was cancelled again. And it now stated online that it was. Went back to the counter. They had no idea what was going on and tried to tell me it wasn't cancelled. They didn't know how to find out. Then we waited for 15 for another clerk to verify the connection was cancelled. And by that time all flights were rebooked (except us!) and they basically said we could wait in another city for three days or sorry you're out of luck."

Cons: "The aircraft reportedly was missing one life vest and it took up to one hour to locate a replacement. Then the front on-board system was reportedly not working. This looked like a relatively new aircraft, so the mechanical report seemed puzzling. The missing life vest should have been detected much earlier that morning, since it was the first flight of the day for that aircraft. First morning flights should not take off one hour late....the aircraft was sitting overnight at the airport."

I have flown all over the world, and they are worse than most third world budget airlines. Other airlines were only a few dollars more on ticket, and would have saved me hundreds of dollars overall."
