Cons: PRICERead more about Avianca
Cons: Everything was excellent
Cons: A sándwich or something light to eat ínstead of just a drink.
Cons: Everything. Never in my life I experienced this. It was beyond inefficiency, it was literally CRUELTY
Cons: The food could’ve had been better.
Pros: Everything was fine. The crew was very helpful
Pros: Overall flight was fine. No entertainment nor wifi.
Cons: At check in in Bogota we asked which line to turn in luggage; as we had previously done online checkin. We were placed in a long line and waited about 45 min.s. Several people were allowed to bypass the line, as they were 'late' for their flight. When we were close to being served the attendant 'placing customers in lines' directed four or five groups from the special needs line ahead of our line in a row. We were told we had missed the baggage check in by 2 minutes and had to pay $60 usd to take an flight 2 hours later. We were then yelled at that we had been in the wrong line. There was another line, very fast one, one the opposite side of the gate area for those with 'bag drop' only needs. I had showed the airline personnel our check in info on my cell and was placed in the wrong line by them. So many problems at airport check in with this airline.
Pros: Plane was good, plane staff were good.
Cons: Forced to move seat (whole row of us) as plane was taxiing to the runway. Just managed to squeeze bag into overhead bin, sit down, and buckle in before we took off. Don't know why we had to move - not explained. Ended up with a middle seat rather than my booked window seat. There was a curfew in Bogota, which caused the plane from Panama to Bogota to be late, thus ensuring I missed my connection. Rather than being put on the next plane, I was forced to miss not only my original one, but 2 further ones. So rather than arrive, as scheduled, at 15:15 I will arrive over 9 hours later, after midnight. Could have been handled better by Avianca.
Pros: Check in was very smooth. Flight crew was very attentive
Cons: Presentation of food was not great.
Pros: Nothing. Since I missed my conection with Avianca ( I got there 10 after the inicial boarding) Avianca didn’t let me enter
Cons: Customer service in Avianca sucks. I got charged $600 to get in the next flight, and nothing was my fault
Pros: Good leg room and comfortable seats, good food
Pros: Ay the counter they were nice
Cons: Food was the worst and service from flight crew was Poor
Cons: Make sure non-Spanish speaking travelers know what's going on, Please repeat announcements in English.
Pros: It was right on time
Pros: Nice staff
Cons: Slow tv, overhead bins small, no personal fans, when boarding no designated spot for group f
Pros: Overall it was a great experience, the crew was friendly and polite, the seats were comfortable, a lot of choices for online entertainment.
Cons: There was a little disorder in the forming of the boarding line, and the breakfast food, egg specifically had an awful taste.
Pros: El servicio en general ha mejorado mucho Felicidades !
Cons: El precio
Cons: To go back to terminal due to computer plain problem.
Pros: Crew is excelente and very friendly
Pros: The flight itself was fine and I like that there are food options throughout as a part of our ticket.
Cons: They lost my luggage and it was impossible to reach anyone who knew anything or to be compensated for my inconvenience and items.
Cons: The extremely least long delay
Cons: At the time of boarding the crew members started going by group. This only lasted 1 min. Everybody started getting in a line without regarding group or any type of particular order. The crew members did mind and just kept boarding people. Very poor management and lack of authority.
Pros: Food ok.
Cons: Plane left almost two hours late! Missed connection in Bogata! Despite Avianc providing a Hotel in Bogata I had to pay for Hotel in Cocuta!
Cons: Food wasn’t the best , the staff at the plane was ok ( not the best for overnight long flight) ,the plane keeped doing an annoying noice
Cons: The flight was canceled, 2-3 day ahead of flight, leaving us scrambling for flights to get me to meetings. Avianca was difficult to contact. The new last minute flights were schedule on COPA...cost us an extra 3000 dollars last minute. To add insult to in jury......the COPA leg from New York was canceled at the airport due to a mechanical problem. We were suppose to leave on Tuesday at 3:25 and get to Bucaramanga that night..........DID NOT HAPPEN. We finally, after two nights in two different cities hotel rooms, we got to Buca on Thursday morning about 10:30 am. COPA's help, was awful............confused, non professional. We could not get food from noon on one day to about 5 the next morning. COPA did not care.
Cons: Customer service before the flight and at the airport. We ended up taking 12hrs bus to make to final destination. Star Alliance should have reliable partners in the skys!!!..
Pros: There's no way to get lost in that airport. Everything has a sign
Cons: The flight was a little bit delayed but I don't really know what
Cons: Very uncomfortable seating, poor service. I asked for and extra cup of water and they said no! I mean it's a 6 hour flight and we took the red eye. I would expect to atleast have drinks. Overall staff was very rude. Service was very poor and slow. Plus the seating is extremely uncomfortable no leg room no offer to up sell first class. Terrible flight company would never use again or recommend ever! Stay away there are plenty of other ways to get to Colombia. One positive is they did have a decent movie selection honestly that's the only thing. Other then that this company does not even deserve one star I will make sure to tell all my friends family and social media to never use this company
Pros: Food, attendants, seats, everything was amazing...
Cons: I diden like the shirs is very smoll
Pros: Boarding, plane, entertainment were very good.
Cons: During a six hour international flight, we only saw the crew once, when they served the not very good food. Actually, bad. After that, nowhere to find something to drink or a snack. It just seemed impossible to get someone, since the back of the plane was full of people all flight.
Pros: Seats are great, food is delicious
Cons: Flights don't have wifi, entertainment selection is extremely limited
Pros: No hassle and they gave a mini sandwich
Pros: Crew was friendly, and they were still able to serve me even though I only spoke English
Cons: My entertainment screen was broken (did not work at all) Loud kids yelling throughout the 6 hour flight made it impossible to sleep or even relax. No one was willing to do anything about it (at least try!)
Pros: Good take off, landing, mostly comfortable.
Cons: Needs food that isn't ham.
Pros: The seat (space, comfort, cleanliness) was good
Cons: The crew (flight attendants) need to be trained much better if Avianca hopes to be a international airline. The attendants spend too much time sitting in the back of the plane and not enough checking for excess trash, customer comfort and general visibility. During the in-flight meal I found an object that looked like a piece of a plastic tie. I gave it to the flight attendant but she appeared unconcerned and indifferent to the situation, making no apology what so ever.
Cons: My passport was not due to expire for the NEXT 4 months AFTER my come back day The lady from Avianca didn't let me board due to my passport expiring 4 months after my return day. I had to pay for a 24 hours expedite / rush passport. ALSO, once I got my new passport (17 hours later) I was told that I had to pay $170 penalty for moving my departure day and $680 because I had to adjust to the new ticket price. At that point I decide to buy a new ticket with a different airline. AVIANCA SUCKS!!! They are NOT very accommodating at all. Will not recommend this agency and I WILL NEVER ever again will use their service.
Pros: Very friendly crew. Great movies and music. Clean.
Pros: Atención de sobrecargo
Cons: Tamaño de los asientos
Cons: Both flights were delayed! And one was a 6 hour delay! It was a bummer
Pros: The service and attention from the crew
Cons: The flight had some situations that made us depart a little bit late but everything else was just fine
Pros: Flight attendants were very polite and always smiling Food was great Loved the sleeping kit (with hand lotion, toothbrush, etc.)
Cons: The seats were not very comfortable. It would be great to have a foot rest for short people like me.
Pros: Staff was nice. Relatively comfortable, good movie selection. Travel voucher
Cons: 4 hour delay
Pros: The crew was great!
Cons: The food was terrible. Oily, tasteless Not comfortable seats.
Pros: I love that I was upgraded due to my Lifemiles Elite status. Sometimes first class seats are left empty, when the airlines could use that opportunity to engage people in the mileage programs.
Cons: The seats were not comfortable probably because it was an old plane.
Pros: es una de las mejores aerolineas de la region , no cabe duda , y ademas consegui un boleto a un excelente precio .
Pros: on time departures, great service at every touch point, clean aircraft, early arrivals, great experience.
Pros: The crew was excellent
Cons: My tailbone aches from the seat. Other friends who flew Copa Airline had the same experience. Friends on other airlines had no complaints. I need a donut cushion on the seat.
Pros: Great service , reliable airline
Cons: I paid for and reserved seats, but didn't get the seats I reserved
Pros: The crew was fine but I didn’t receive flight updates on the airlines app and was charged 340$ for missing a connection. I could have bought the same flight for half the price but then they wouldn’t give me my return flight.
Cons: not charging me 340$ by threatening to cancel my return flight
Pros: Two planes boarded late and the airline refused to let us bring our carry on luggage on board. Then they proceeded to lose one of our bags. We still don’t have it 24 hours later.
Cons: Love the free alcohol but would have loved a TV to pass the time. Gracias!
Pros: I liked my first flight a lot
Cons: My connecting flight had a moved gate and I heard no announcement. Because of this, I ended up missing the flight and now I am stuck in Panama for 2 days! No flights until Monday (today is Saturday) Can’t leave the airport because I don’t have vaccines and will only have one day to my trip.
Cons: Food was terrible Flight departure time in the middle of the night is terrible, and the 1-hour delay made it much worse. Seats are uncomfortable.
Cons: A seat in First Class.
Pros: The crew was friendly, the food was actually good for airline food and the flight was smooth.
Cons: I wish I had a map on the screen of where we were.
Pros: Everything was just great best ever airline!!
Pros: I was appalled at the lack of empathy and customer centricity of this central American airline.
Cons: We arrive at SFO with my family. Two girls 2 and 5 and my wife six months pregnant. There was a misspelling in my wife's name. Easy fix right? Nope! The COPA staff forced us to pay a new ticket for her and did not even respect the price. APPALLING!
Pros: Great food, friendly service, answered all of my questions.
Cons: New entertainment system requiring one’s own cell phone, layover too short in Panama, many people had trouble catching connecting flights.
Cons: No privet screen
Cons: Very poor customer service
Pros: Good desk check-in service.
Cons: Chicken tastes rubbery and bun was hard.
Pros: Low price
Cons: The crew was unfriendly. Then, our overnight flight arrived nearly an hour late. I missed my connection because I stopped to use the bathroom en route to the next gate because I did not realize just how late we were.
Pros: -crew was very friendly -flight was on time -clean airline
Cons: Unable to select our own seats. Bullshit!
Pros: Pilot and updates Service quality
Cons: Pillows and blankets in business class
Cons: Last time flying with copa airlines
Cons: Even though there was no wind and the airport is at sea level, the pilot almost crashed the plane when he landed in GYE!
Cons: The food is pretty bad, stale not flavorful or interesting at all
Pros: Really nice
Cons: Small overhead bins.
Pros: The airline itself was great with their service. I always use Kayak to book my flights.
Cons: I was denied entry into Panama through immigration because of a past criminal record. I was detained for 9 hours with no food, water, or access to my belongings. I was unaware of what was happening, as I haven't had a criminal history for many years and wasn't informed upon purchasing this ticket that this would be a problem. I was sent back to San Francisco. This has interfered with other travel plans and tickets that have already been purchased once I reached my final destination of Bogota, Columbia. I need to reach Quito, Ecuador by March 21st and I'm now back in San Francisco extremely disappointed.
Cons: They has 3 English entertainment selections for adults and 2 for kids 13+, nothing for actual kids.
Cons: We had to cancel our trip because I was hospitalized with Influenza B and pneumonia. We had purchased flight insurance from Allianz. Copa charged us $150 per ticket cancellation fee and remainder was provided as a credit on Copa Airlines. Copa will not refund the ticket cost. This was a special once-in-a-lifetime trip with friends. Not likely that we will make another attempt to fly to Quito or anywhere else Copa flies, so we have a 100% loss.
Cons: I had an earlier flight that was delayed which caused me to get to the counter 50 minutes before my flight left. The attendant at the counter told me there was nothing he could do and that I needed to call Copa’s reservation number, which he couldn’t even give me he said I needed to look it up myself. Then before I had even called the reservation line he said he was closing the ticket counter and wouldn’t be back until 9:30. I called the reservation line who said that there was nothing they could do because my flight hadn’t even left yet and that I needed to talk to the attendant who had already left. I then waiting over 2 hours for the ticket counter to reopen only to be told that all of my flights through Copa had been cancelled and that I would need to pay almost $2000 just to get on different flights. I ended up having to use a completely different airline and spend an additional $1000 because Copa would not help and was extremely rude. This was the first time I would have flown Copa and I will never fly with them again.
Pros: There’s a glitch on this page that is not allowing me to select 5 stars for my overall rating but everything was FABULOUS! Sweet attentive sharp staff. Would definitely travel with Copa again.
Pros: The crew was very friendly, helpful and kind. I was sad and tearful when I boarded just from saying goodbye to some people I love. One of the crew, Maria, was very kind and brought me tissues and asked if she could do anything for me. She also checked back in with me. I really appreciated her kindness and care.
Pros: I preordered the kosher option, more out of curiosity, and the hope that it would be better than standard coach fare. It wasn't. It consisted of a pastry, a roll and some applesauce. A waste of packaging.
Cons: Delayed 2 hours
Pros: All aspects were good
Pros: Boarding was on time and fast.
Cons: The food
Pros: Good flight.
Cons: Lost all our checked luggage...on a direct flight.
Cons: Flight was a couple hours delayed
Pros: Lots of leg room, love the food, frequent drink service, crew is always nice. Bag storage is generous.
Cons: The problem with Copa, is that when you take the redeye, they wake you up with prerecorded announcements everyone the seatbelt status changes. The speaker is loud and they announce in 3 languages
Pros: Couldn't say, as nothing was appealing and believe you me, I'm quite easy to please; ask anyone who knows me.
Cons: LOTS. Let's start off with the planes. They were the smallest planes I have ever flown on an international flight. Then the cabin crew is of NO help when it come to assisting in stowing your belongings, not even out of courtesy, although it's their duty. I kindly asked for a can of Sprite when they were distributing the beverages and the flight attendant snapped back while showing me an empty can, but, karma kicked in and she spilled half of my flat Sprite on the carpet; luckily, it didn't spill on me. She could have avoided the mess, embarrassment (both for her and the airline, as she demonstrated incompetency; after all, she represents the airline), and this bad review, if she had kindly complied with my request. There's more, but, I don't want this to be another chapter of 'War and Peace'.
Pros: On time and great service. Awesome.
Cons: Being on time and service on board
Pros: Everything. All went well, no hitches anywhere.
Pros: El personal es muy atento, no hubo retraso, nos dieron refrigerio y bebidas... definitivamente volvería a viajar con ellos
Pros: We boarded quickly and the flight attendants were very nice.
Cons: They kept the lights on and they lost my luggage on a direct flight.
Cons: The plane cabin became really hot. The plane was older and the seats air was very minimal me and my friends on the flight agreed the cabin was hot.
Cons: Purchased a window seat, confirmed over the phone, then arrived to the airport and was moved to a middle seat for a 6.5 hour flight. You try to talk to the crew but they really do not care. Choose any other airline but this one
Pros: The flight was on time as scheduled and the food was eatable.
Pros: The efficiency
Pros: Customer Service, staff smiling and been helpful at all times,, Meal delicious, aircraft very spacious
Cons: Food is terrible. 7 hours flight and a snack and a very poor breakfast. Small and disconfort seats
Cons: My flight was cancelled. To get a new flight was a huge pain, and caused my entire group of 12 to lose a day in vacation along with added expense of traveling back and forth to the airport. There is horrible customer service at copa and I am having a difficult if not impossible time getting reimbursed. VERY DISSATISFIED!
Cons: Redundant checking of travel documents could be unified I suppose. I do understand international travel peculiarities may be hard to overcome
Cons: I was charge $24.00 for internet and it was too slow. No meals to purchase
Cons: No complaints
Pros: Social distancing was enforced and I was able to have a whole row to myself on both flights.
Cons: Cleanliness on my return flight could have been better. Flight attendants weren’t coming around picking up trash as much as the first flight
Pros: Comfortable seat
Cons: There wasn’t much for social distancing. Was kind of disappointed.
Cons: Smelled like pee for half time we were up and announcer was very annoying , she sounded like she is about to pass out , short of breath like she needs an ambulance. Statement about wearing masks was just too much... we get it - we wear masks.
Cons: Poor customer service
Cons: They over sold the flight. Also they had numerous passengers on the flight that were not wearing/using a mask
Pros: Very organized and helpful. I felt safe.
Cons: Different types of snack. Nothing serious to complain about.
Pros: There were only snacks, no setback entertainment
Cons: Add a meal and seatback entertainment
Pros: The seats were fine and the plane was in good shape.
Cons: The food is mediocre - everything has meat in it and they use tons of plastic. Also, the plane was late getting to the gate. This wouldn’t have been an issue had the pilot not decided to off board and then re onboard cargo (the commercial stuff they get paid to carry). This took about 20 minutes and then after the winds changed, he decided he could load more passengers. So despite having the doors locked and getting ready to leave the gate, they opened the doors up again and boarded more people for the next 40 minutes. So they chose to make a delayed flight even more delayed (on Christmas Eve). So we inevitably missed our connection in sydney and had to pay a change fee since it’s a different airline. Thanks for the Christmas gift United - you always know how to disappoint your passengers.
Cons: The queues at immigration in San Francisco were disgracefully long. it took us 3 hrs to get to our luggage. Advice to US govt to employ more immigration officers. Airlines should report on this
Pros: great crew, easy flight
Pros: Short flight time
Cons: We were delayed initially because our jet was given to a different flight which had been delayed due to mechanical problems. Then our incoming flight was first from San Diego, then Los Angeles. The arrival was delayed several times. Then our boarding was delayed several times. By the time we we in the air, we were even later. The flight was so turbulent, there was no food or beverage service, which isn't important anyway since that has become a token gesture by airlines anyway. . If this was an isolated incident, I could ignore it but it seems that this almost always happens when I fly United.
Pros: Seats and entertainment
Cons: One syaffmemberrude butall not very friendly orhelpful no food to purchase on board which meant we had absolutely nothing to eat until landing not good when ad ertise that you can purchase on board also paid 50 dollars for checked bags but ihadconfirmed with your airline theywereinyheprice along of gimethecrewwalkedpast with coffee withoutaski gif wanted one
Pros: Very friendly cabin crew. Sufficient food, quite tasty.
Cons: Extra charge for spirits. Only beer or wine complimentary. Poor headphones and image quality so overall entertainment mediocre.
Pros: Landed early
Cons: No wifi or substantial snacks/dinner. Paid for bag
Pros: The TV shows and movie collection is good.
Cons: Horrible food, no complimentary drinks on economy plus seats. UNITED lost my luggage again (2nd time this year).
Cons: Very cramped with staff who I found overbearing. Not the most pleasant experience.
Pros: economy plua has a reasonable amount of room, good food for breakfast, nice movies in flight.
Cons: they canceled our flight to hanaeda and instead had us take an hour later flight to narita which is a 1 1/2 hour $30 bus ride away which they don’t pay for. this caused us to miss our connecting flight to Asahikawa, the last flight of the day. The connection time allowed was not nearly enough even if the plane had not been an hour late and there are no flights to asahikawa from narita. yo have to transfer to hanaeda. remind me not to fly United to Tokyo again as I’m pretty sure the flight was canceled because it was not full enough. Even the narita flight with all the hanaeda passengers rebooked on it was not full. So i suspect this may be a relatively common occurance on the hanaeda flight.
Cons: Delayed for so long! 5 hrs
Pros: The person at the United customer service desk was able to book me on the next available flight to Reno (after missing my original flight mentioned above) quickly and efficiently. Boarding was fast.
Cons: I was late to my original flight and the United personal that I talked to at the gate was very rude. I asked if the plane was still boarding and all she said was go to customer service. I know I gave her a questioning look because this did not answer my original question. She repeated her statement again this time pointing. I would have preferred that she tell me that the flight had finished boarding but customer service could help me get on another flight. I feel that would have been more professional. My new flight was also an hour late
Pros: Entertainment had good choices. I was very comfortable in the chairs. The crew was overall friendly.
Cons: Wish the entertainment came with tablets already installed instead if for purchase. Would be nice to have gluten-free options for snacks. Since my first flight was delayed and I barely made it to my connection, I had no time to grab something to eat at the airport. And being celiac, there was only a nut and fruit mix. Not enough to substitute for a meal. My biggest complaint however is with 3 hours left of the flight, i turned on the call button to request a beverage and nobody came. I waited 45 minutes, having to turn on the light 3 separate time because it automatically must have timed out. I couldn't get out of my seat due to seat belt sign. I looked back into the rear galley and 5 attendants were back there talking. Tried to get their attention. Nothing. Finally, I got up and went to get my own drinks. Being a server at hotel in waikiki, I understand that customer service is very important. And though I understand that they may have been busy and unable to answer my call, I could see that clearly was not the problem. They were just standing there and chatting. Very frustrating. Though they were friendly, they just simply weren't paying attention. I have to say in all honesty, I will not be recommending nor flying United airlines again.
Pros: Again could not fault staff and quality of flight services, luckily space to sleep so fantastic flight.
Pros: The boarding was fast and easy. The crew were friendly and accommodating. The entertainment was bring your own phone, tablet or computer to watch movies over wifi. We could not access our United account so we could not watch the movies, which was lame for a 5 hour flight. The food was also unpleasant as usual. You'd think a multimillion dollar airline could afford to feed people more than drinks and a cookie. What happened to the hospitality of the industry? If you came to my house for 5 hours and I gave you one cookie and a beverage maybe two you would think I was rude or down right cheap.
Cons: The crew were wonderful. My husband was on a business trip and I was able to sit with him. The staff didn't wake me up and they were generous with the sodas.
Pros: Unfortunately I won’t leave until morning. However I can already answer this question. I will like the fact that I’ll be seeing my only child after an entire year!
Cons: I didn’t like the fact that United Airlines took time away from us. Because she’s military I don’t get to see her as often as I’d like. I booked my trip from October 5-16 2017 and our vacation together won’t start until a day later. Some may say it’s only a day but I say different and I should be compensated for my loss as well as so many other people that were traveling with me. My overall experience with this airline was horrible! I won’t say I’d never use them again because you never say never BUT they will be my last resort!
Cons: Seats to small. But I am 6'3"" and my son traveling with me is 6'5".
Pros: Security Video was interesting. Seat was wide and comfortable.
Cons: Food was tasty, but strange smell was contaminated. Announce was so fast and unclear both English and Japanese. I felt no intention to communicate.
Pros: Boarding was really easy
Cons: Not only you have to pay for checking one bag, not only you have to pay for a poor meal, you also have to bring your own device to watch a movie!
Cons: 1. The flights within the US and Canada was delayed. 2. The United Airline staff in San Francisco told me to pick up my luggage when I get to Seattle despite of the fact that my final destination was Vancouver. I questioned the staff about this ata this seemed odd, but he insisted that I pick up my luggage in Seattle. Upon arrival to Seattle I went to the baggage claim area to find out that my luggage was already put through to the connecting airline to Vancouver. This resulted in me having to go through a long line of passengers to do all of the security checks again to enter the international airport gates. This almost resulted in me missing my connecting flight to Vancouver. The only saving grace was that the flight was delayed by another hour. 3. Changes made on my connecting flights were only given to me during my check in at Auckland. My previous booking was Auckland -San Francisco - Portland - Vancouver. The boarding pass I was given in Auckland omitted Portland and was changed to Seattle. I was never informed about this by United Airlines. 4. United Airlines website NOT allowing me to log in using my e-mail.
Pros: Flight attendants are nice. I picked one of the seats at the end so plenty leg room.
Cons: OK, United, I understand and fully support "no more seat monitor" policy to reduce costs (even though it seems very backward); however, there's one problem--if you still want to enjoy onboard entertainments, you need to download the United application above 10,000 feet where you can never find your 4G connection. Oh wait, but there's still Wi-Fi service, right? Sure, if you are willing to pay $17 just to download application!! United, I understand how you want to make little money out of a customer's pocket, but this is not how you should do it. You should at least allow internet connection before departure or let the customer aware they need to download application beforehand.
Pros: Getting off the plane
Cons: The guy puked halfway through the flt and not one single flt attendant came even though they were serving drinks repeatedly to the dr sitting in the row in front of me. Also the flt was delayed as we waited almost an hour for people trying to connect which made me more upset since I was rebooked on that later flt because although my previous flt was there half hour before departure, we didn't have a gate to use which caused me to be 15 mins late for my original flt. Did they wait for me?! NO! I was rebooked. It's unfair that they stole an hour of life from every other passenger to accommodate a few. Back to the guy who puked, an hour after that he started shaking and grabbing his head and asking me why am I hurting his heart. Then incoherent blathering and then his last episode 20 minutes before we land in which he started hitting himself in the head saying he would die right now for his wife and how he's made mistakes. It was three separate incidents from this one passenger and not one flt attendant noticed? Yeah it was bad piled on worse stacked on top of never United ever again.
Pros: The boarding was pretty good for this flight, seemed simple enough, everyone was pleasant. And I was near an exit, which offered sufficient leg room.
Cons: I was disappointed by a few things... 1. The staff didn't much care to be there. They seemed distant and unconcerned, although their words were supportive. I just got off a flight from Seoul to SF, with United (892) and they admittedly stated that they were understaffed (which was completely fine) and their attitudes were much more supportive than that of the following team (486), a flight from SF to IAD. 2. I was surprised, that on a 5hr flight, they only offered a half bag of mixed items and two rounds of beverages. I was sure that they would feed us something. However, if it's not the policy, I get it...but I asked if they had anything I could purchase, the flight attendant points me to the menu pamphlet and says that I could choose from there. I asked for the Chilled Chicken with Slaw and she promptly lets me know that they only have cheeseburgers, a protein box and Cheese. For a person who's lactose intolerant, I was again disappointed by the service--why ask me to go to the menu, if you knew there were only three items you were offering?? So I didn't order anything. 3. The entertainment blows my mind. I've flown with you guys like 8 times this year, and the app still does not work properly, however, before every flight, someone mentions over the intercom to be sure to download the app...but if it doesn't work...why offer it? Also, if there are tvs at the back of every headrest, the least you could offer is a random movie, versus the commercials about how great the app is, or whatever was scrolling along. Lastly, please note, I was trying to figure out a way to make a comment to United...but didn't want to sound TOOO disgruntled. I'm not opposed to flying with UA, absolutely not, but if any of these things are addressed, I definitely feel you will be making a massive improvement on what seems to be an airline that I'd think twice about taking. Feel free to e-mail or call me. I don't mean to sound rude...but having flown other airlines, and knowing that UA has been around for a while, i just hoped the experience would be better.
Pros: Crew on board was professional.
Cons: Plane was delayed over two hours due to mechanical issues. I missed my connections. Three separate United employees assure me I'd be rebooked for onward travel. I was sent to three different counters regarding my onward travel - sent from terminal to terminal. No onward travel was resolved and I eventually just paid for a train onward. I was told this was because it was a weather delay but at the boarding gate multiple announcements were made about repairing the plane and replacing batteries. United deliberately wasted my time and never fulfilled their obligations to get me to my destination. (Additionally, wifi and entertainment was not functional the entire 11 hour flight)
Cons: 5 minutes before we boarded they tried to change my seat without informing me.... luckily it popped up on my phone that my seat had changed I reserved an aisle seat when I made my reservations five days before the flight. All of a sudden they put me in the middle seat ...so I went to the counter and the person at the counter tried to tell me that I just changed to the aisle seat that I had which I actually have had for 5 days and she tried to tell me that I was lying to her I was not very pleased with United at all!!! I made it very clear and even showed her the email from 5 days ago where I had that seats all along the aisle seat that she took away from me and put me in the middle somewhere so three minutes later she told me to look at my phone and she changed me back but that's after she basically called me a liar and said I didn't know what I was talking about!! Worst US AIRLINE!!
Cons: Leg I was only offered economy. Not plus
Pros: It was perfect flight by all means
Cons: Never got to do this flight because of the previous flight which is reviewed below: My seat was broken and wouldn't stay in upright position. This really pissed off the passenger behind me. Crew kept telling me to put my seat upright, I kept having to tell them the seat was broken. Old airplane with no in-seat entertainment. they advertise on the seat that you can watch all their entertainment content for free, but then you have to pay for wifi to watch so it's not free then, is it? Every movie or show requires "additional software" so you have to purchase internet to do the download. This is an 11 hour flight, I would have appreciated being able to watch a movie or something without forking out $30. Flight was delayed, so we were low on time to make our connection. I asked a flight attendant twice if we could get help deplaning early or at least get moved up some rows since we were in the very back of a 747 (there were plenty of vacant seats). They said no, and told us that customs would only take a minute and that the other united flight knew we'd be coming and would wait. I don't usually fly united; other airlines typically will actively take steps to help (like moving connecting passengers to the front shortly before landing) if they are the cause of the delay. Customs had only one agent working and we were pretty much last in line so that process took over an hour. Just moving us 10 rows forward before landing would have made all the difference because our connecting flight closed its doors and taxied for takeoff less than 5 minutes before we arrived. They had some united employees guiding and directing a couple of passengers that were going to be late for a connection to LAX, but no help for those of us connecting to portland. Customer service didn't even offer a verbal apology. Last time I flew with united, I also had a terrible experience for different reasons. I did not intend to fly united for this flight, but I purchased tickets through and for Lufthansa, and this flight was regrettably operated by united. Another thing I don't like - the food was horrendous. It was a breakfast sandwich that was advertised as "hot and fresh" on the packaging but was served straight from the refrigerator. I was in the middle seats with one person to my left and two people to my right. Everyone took only one bite and threw away the rest. Just don't bother serving the food if it's going to be that bad, it's very wasteful. I always appreciate a hot towelette after a long overnight flight. United offered no such thing which was a first for me. Regarding boarding: they called us all up to line up in boarding groups and then we had to stand in line for 65 minutes. I have a bad back and had to sit on the carpet to avoid being last in line and not having space for my carry on bag. Would have been nicer if they would have just let us sit in the chairs at the gate in comfort until they were ready to board.
Pros: No entertainment unless you pay, but you can't turn the tv off, so it's playing bright ads in your face all night. Awesome.
Cons: If you want to feel like you're riding the most cramped Greyhound bus, definitely ride with united.
Cons: Because of a delay in SFO to Chicago O'Hare airport I missed my connecting flight back home. My connecting flight left early without me. While boarding the plane in SFO, the people at the gate made me check my carry on bag. Which I thought was very weird. When we finally got to Chicago I stood in line for two and a half hours to talk to one of the worst customer service lady of my life. She swore at me many times over me trying to be polite and wait for her to call me up to find another flight. Instead she looked at me and said "what are you waiting for?" She said to me "Oh here's a flight. But oh wait it's already sold out or gone" and she would laugh. Finally she found a flight close to where I live. My baggage had got lost from my connecting flight leaving without me. I got all of my luggage 2 days after. My carry on bag that got checked at my gate was in a clear trash bag. I took it out of the bag to find that it was completely trashed. My handles were ripped off which put a huge whole revealing all of my personal items. My carry on bag has only been used once and can never be used again. I unpacked my bag and noticed $300 worth of my stuff was missing. I have called to make many complaints to talk to corporate office but no one would give me the correct number. I will NEVER fly United Airlines again. I am so disappointed.
Pros: United really could have done better informing us of delay, then cancellation. I knew it was likely to be delayed due to weather, and kept checking the status. It wasn't listed as delayed until nearly boarding time, although it seems pretty clear they knew well before that. But SFO was a star. The new decor is sophisticated and comfortable. Bathrooms were like at a swanky night club! Comfy chairs and charging outlets every where. The biggest hit was the Exploratorium installation, which kept my and plenty of other kids entertained!
Cons: Wayfinding signage from BART is confusing. BART connection is a pain. The machines in the station only take $1 and $5 bills-- no 20s or credit cards! And no one at BART cares if you are running late for a flight.
Pros: On board shows were good.
Cons: Flight left about 3-3.5 hours late. Add that to the time you have to show up early to the airport and I could've been almost home in my car. We were boarded and left to sit for a long time then the pilot came on saying the mechanic needed more time to look at the tire which might need to be changed. After another 15-20 min sitting, pilot comes on and says we need to get off the plane so the maintenance could be done. Ok I'd rather fly safe than be on time but really? Why doesn't this airline have enough planes that the maintenance can be done when the plane isn't scheduled to fly? So many people missed connections and we ended up getting home so much later than we had expected! Honestly I would rather the airline have emailed saying flight delayed 3 hours so I could have had more time in SF rather than sitting in an airport eating a mediocre airport meal for dinner. They had to have known the tire was almost to the point of changing right? I mean I would hope it's checked each flight. Just all together inconvenient. Like they book all theses flights to make money and yet if they had fewer but didn't make anyone waste the day or night at the airport so they could perform routine maintenance it may be worth an extra few bucks in my book. My time is valuable too, and I don't think I was the only one on the flight who thought so. Maybe United doesn't value anyone else's time other than theirs. Guess this is why we have several airlines to choose from and we will not likely fly United again.
Pros: Quick-ish boarding
Cons: No food. No entertainment. No power. Garbage, lowest rung "bus in the sky" service
Cons: We were diverted from Pittsburgh because of fog. Other flights landed shortly thereafter from other airlines which was frustrating, but a short delay did not ruin the day. We landed instead at Dulles. After sitting and waiting for hours we were finally all put back on the plane. Then we taxied out before the pilot told us they were over their hours or something along those lines and couldn't submit the paperwork necessary to take off. We went back to the gate and were told to wait some more in case there were more pilots. No more pilots came. No more flights were available. Instead we all hovered either around the gate desk or the customer service desk where we were told we couldn't be helped. We were instead forced to pile onto buses nearly 5 hours after we had landed at the wrong airport. We then spent another 6 hours on the road driving to Pittsburgh on a bus that was crowded and hot because the air conditioning kept failing. Because of some fog and a lot of incompetence, I arrived in Pittsburgh over 12 hours after I was supposed to. My trip in total lasted 20 hours from my flight in Seattle taking off. I missed an important event for the wedding that weekend, which was upsetting given the distance I had to travel and the amount of extra time I had scheduled in for myself, but the way we were treated was worse. There was no positive communication. Nobody knew anything. We were clearly an inconvenience that nobody knew what to do with so they just kept trying to push us off to the next person. It was infuriating and unacceptable I will never fly United again if I can possibly help it.
Pros: I enjoyed very little about this experience. The crew was cordial however they lose the ability to perform simple tasks by the long standing protocols and overcrowded flights. Most of the crew are as unhappy as the passengers.
Cons: The plane hit the brakes while taking off and returned to the gate due to a warning light. We were told nothing other than we needed to wait. They said the fix took 5 minutes but our wait took 2 hours. Not efficient. They rent out tablets for on plane entertainment, unlike every other plane I've ever flown, they make you pay to keep you happy during a 5.5 hour flight. Food was horrible. The seat did not recline and they eradicate every ounce of comfort to overpack the plane. The Captian made little announcements and the one he did make upon decent, started with "please fasten your seat belts, we are 65 miles away from Honolulu but...", I was sure the "light" came back on 30k feet about the pacific and we were going down. Finally - the last announcement from the head stewardess didn't include "Aloah, thank you for flying United". Seems minor but it goes to show they don't care anymore. That's the first time I hadn't heard the welcomed message after my 20th trip to the Islands. After my return flight I vow to never fly United again.
Pros: There was nothing to like about this constantly delayed flight with rude attendants at the gate. I will not be flying United again.
Cons: Everything! Our flight started with a thirty minute delay which was mentioned after we were asked to stand and prepare to board. The flight continued to be pushed out an hour every hour with no reason as to why. Our gate changed and we were told to line up for boarding, then we had another delay. The frustrating part was being told to line up to board only to see another delay. In total, the flight was delayed over four hours, being asked to prepare to board three times and with one gate change. This was not even the worst part, our new plane did not have WiFi, which was promised when booking. Needless to say, the entertainment was bleak. The icing on this flight from hell was when we hit turbulence and two bottles of wine spilt on another passenger and all over the floor. I understand that this happens, but none of the flight attendants attempted to clean up the wine and all the passengers where forced to smell cheap red wine for the remaining eight hours of the flight. I regret to claim that I will not fly United ever again.
