Finland has resumed passenger flights from the UK, Ireland and South Africa. However, Finland's borders remain closed to non-resident foreign nationals entering the country, with some exemptions.
The Finnish Border Guard has is maintaining a list of countries with reduced border controls - travelers arriving from these countries will not need to self-isolate on arrival in Finland.
Nationals of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland residing in Finland, and their family members may enter the country for some essential reasons.
As of 13 July, travel between Finland and countries in the EU/Schengen Zone and the UK as well as Algeria, Australia, South Korea, Georgia, Japan, New Zealand, Rwanda, Thailand, Tunisia, Uruguay and China (provided that reciprocity is confirmed in the EU) will be permitted for work and other essential purposes for residents of these countries. Additionally, there is a special exemption allowing a quota of workers employed as berry pickers to travel from Thailand to Finland.
Travelers arriving from within the EU or a Schengen Member State may enter Finland if they are traveling for work or study in Finland. Healthcare professionals, transport personnel, diplomats, humanitarian aid workers, military personnel, travelers entering for imperative family reasons, and workers who commute to another country daily may also enter the country. More information is available at the Finnish Border Guard website.
All travelers arriving at the Helsinki airport from abroad will be offered a COVID-19 test. The test is voluntary and free of charge. All travelers arriving in Finland are eligible for free COVID-19 testing via the FINENTRY program.
On arrival, travelers will be directed to undergo a health examination and may be asked to undergo a COVID test even if they do not show symptoms. Testing is available at Helsinki-Vantaa airport and is free of charge.
People arriving in Finland from countries other than those mentioned earlier will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days upon arrival. The self-isolation period can be reduced if they provide 2 negative COVID test results. The first test should have taken place no more than 72 hours before boarding a flight to Finland, and the second test no earlier than 72 hours after the first test.
Nationals and residents of the above-named countries who are returning to their home countries through Finland may also transit through the country.

Cons: "We flew out of Newark (EWR), and the flight gate was NOT posted on any of the flight departure boards, there was no Icelandair counter to ask for that information (staff had left, as we arrived there shortly after 1 hour prior to departure, so there was no longer even a sign saying Icelandair on it), there were no Icelandair staff or crew to ask, and each and every airport personnel we asked (such as visitor information and security) either did not know or gave us incorrect information. The gate information was not given on our boarding passes, and even Google did not know the gate number! Although we should have had plenty of time, we ended up having to cut through the security line to make it, and even then we came fairly close to missing the flight. I would be very reluctant to ever use Icelandair again, even though I did like the price for the cost of the flight and the flight itself was fine."

In general I would just move on, but we heard the customer service agent reference that they over booked the two flights to Rome. I guess we were the u lucky customers x two flights because we didn’t get a standby seat in the next flight then the prior agent gave us positive hope that we would get on. Lesson- make sure you have at least 3 hours between connecting flights."

I called Iberia and after staying on hold for 40 min they told me to use the same confirmation number of Iberia flight on British airlines website. After a long day and a long and expensive uber ride I made it to sfo to see the flight has been delayed... never ever ever going to buy an international flight from Iberia, and very hesitant about kayak redirecting sales."

Cons: "When I missed my flight, the airline would not offer assistance because I booked through an online vendor (webjet through kayak) and when I called webjet they failed to help me rebook, made me buy a new flight, then when I called looking for the flight information, they managed to cancel the flight and then claimed I had requested this when I had done no such thing. On top of this they only offer next calendar day booking so even though they are fully responsible for botching up the second flight I booked. I have talked to 10 individuals from different agencies. Everyone passes blame and responsibility off on someone else. On top of everything else, noone but the American Airlines representatives showed any empathy or concern for my being stranded for the night. Based on this experience, I will do everything in my power to dissuade people from using Kayak, webjet, amadeus and British Airways."

The lines to get vouchers were super long, and the hotel was not the best. It was way after midnight when I got to the hotel, and I did not feel safe staying at a Quality Inn. I had to walk to my room outside, and had leave in the morning in the dark as well. I was traveling alone. Please put your passengers in a better hotel, closer to the airport. I did not expect that from American Airlines."

I tried giving AA a chance, but compared to when I flew on WestJest two months prior for almost the exact same trip (I flew to San Francisco versus San Jose that time), WestJet was by far more superior in terms of customer service, boarding organization, and friendliness. First of all, what bugged me profusely was the lack of seat selection and the crazy pricing for certain seats. On WestJet, the emergency exit seats were available without any additional cost, yet AA was charging $66 USD to sit there. Furthermore, seats closer to Business class also carried a charge of $25 (or something like that) - ONLY because you get to board sooner. I would understand if there was extra legroom involved, but really, it's just a matter of sitting and getting off before anyone else. If anything, those seats should be given to passengers who have tight connecting flights and need to get off asap. even in those cases, you shouldn't be charging someone almost $30 just so they can make it to their next flight that YOUR company arranged within such a short time frame. But the most annoying thing about my trip with AA was the fact that I had to take out all of my belongings from my carry-on and carry them in my arms because there was no room left in the overhead compartments. Excuse me?? How is there not enough room? So I had to walk with my laptop, my iPad, my Beats headphones, my laptop and iPad charger, amongst other things, in my hands to the aircraft. Thank goodness I found a plastic bag, because otherwise I probably would have lost something expensive on that plane. Furthermore, as I walked to my seat, there was most definitely places that I could have stowed my carry-on luggage in the overhead compartments. You shouldn't let people put things like purses and bags of food in the overhead, when those can be stowed underneath the seats in front."

The agent that we talked to once we got to Toronto also tried to get us on standby to another flight that would have gotten us home two hours earlier! Exception: 20 minutes for flights departing from Toronto City Airport (YTZ)." Check in staff told me I should have gotten there 2 hours ahead. This is very conflicting. Considering I was heading to a 10 hour trade show, believe me that hour of sleep I lost between 2:30 when I had to get up for this flight and 3:30 when I could have gotten up sure was missed. Correct and consistent instructions to passengers go a long way."

On our return flight we were delayed on the tarmac for over an hour with no air conditioning, they originally said they were waiting for a signature but then said that there was something wrong with the engines that help us take off, then the cabin filled with a fuel smell, then they said they had brought the wrong item for the repair and we were waiting for the correct one. When we finally took off my husband's screen didn't work yet again and this was a 9 hour flight. The flight attendant said that some of the screens hadn't worked for a while ( probably cheaper to hand out useless discounts than to fix them.). We received another 10% off card, which we cannot combine or transfer, again useless. We missed our connection because of the delay, they booked us on another flight but because they didn't tell us that we had to pick up our luggage or where (it was on a different carousel than the rest of the luggage from our flight) and that we had to go through customs we (and many others) missed that flight too. We finally got a flight out the next morning and they put us up at a hotel. We both had to miss another day of work and it was quite an ordeal. My husband's screen worked for almost all of that last flight before it seized up. We didn't bother to report it that time since another 10% off coupon wasn't going to do us any good. Overall it is concerning that Air Canada doesn't seem to be maintaining their planes in optimal condition and that their idea of compensation involves them making even more money from me. Never again."

Canadian air also knew I had to catch a flight to Tokyo. I thought my connection times were to close and I was right. No one told me that I had to go through international customs. So, I was in the wrong place.When I made that discovery I literally ran to customs and asked to cut in line. Again I ran to get to the gate. They were boarding when I arrived. Why I say did you put me through all that when it was avoidable? Then on the way back after a 14 hour flight I had a 6 hour delay to get back to Hartford. Why was that I ask? The same thing happened last year. And you didn t fix it yet? Nightmare. And lets not even talk about the food on the plane. I make sure I eat before the flight if I have time.In this case there was no time. I also had to change flight dates. I was on the phone for 1.5 hours on hold. Only to be told that I was calling the wrong place. So, that's my Air Canada experience. Some sort of cash or check rebate should be in order. Not a voucher to fly with them again."
