Entry restrictions
Germany has restricted the entry of travelers who are arriving from outside the European Economic Area, except for nationals of Germany, residents with a residence permit, and D-Visa holders, and certain exceptions (detailed below).
Germany has restricted all air passenger flights from the UK. In order to travel to Germany on exempt transportation UK nationals resident in Germany will require proof of residence. If they are not yet in possession of a residence card, they will be required to provide credible evidence that they are resident in Germany. This could include an address registration certificate (Meldebescheinigung), a tenancy agreement, a utility bill in their name, or a certificate of application (Fiktionsbescheinigung).
As of June 25, travelers arriving from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland may enter Germany.
Germany has also lifted restrictions on entry for travelers coming from the following countries: Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand and Uruguay. Travelers must have spent at least 2 weeks in the above-listed countries prior to their flight to Germany. Restrictions will also be lifted for entry from China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Macao if this can be agreed on a reciprocal basis. The list will be reviewed every two weeks.
Entry from any third country is possible for travelers who can demonstrate an important reason for their travel. The list of important reasons covers German and EU citizens and any third-country nationals with a right of residency in Germany. It also includes healthcare and social care personnel and health researchers, skilled workers whose economic activity is necessary and cannot be postponed or performed from abroad, freight and transport staff, seasonal workers, students who cannot continue their studies from abroad, travelers making visits for urgent family reasons, diplomats and staff at international organizations, and persons transiting Germany.
Travelers entering Germany after staying in a designated risk area abroad during the previous 14 days must undergo mandatory testing for COVID-19. The German government regularly updates its list of designated risk areas. See the "English archive" at the bottom of the Robert Koch Institute page for the latest updated list.
Entry requirements
Travelers entering from Albania, Andorra, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Colombia, Czechia, Egypt, Estonia, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Kosovo, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Mexico, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Palestinian Territory, Panama, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, UAE, UK or US must have a medical certificate with a negative COVID-19 test result issued within 48 hours prior to arrival. Tests accepted are: Antigen, PCR, RT-LAMP and TMA tests. Children under the age of 6 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test result.
Travelers entering Germany from another country and have visited a high-risk area in the last 10 days, must complete a digital registration prior to travel.
Quarantine requirements
Quarantine requirements in Germany differ depending on the German state. All travelers arriving from high-risk areas (over 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants) are required to stay in home quarantine for 10 days on arrival in Germany. After 5 days it is possible to secure release from quarantine with a negative test. More information can be found here.
In most federal states (Länder), testing negative, at the earliest after five days, means home quarantine is no longer required. Furthermore, in some federal state (Land) regulations, exemptions from the quarantine obligation require the submission of a negative test result.
Transiting rules
Travelers transiting through Germany from Brazil, Ireland, Portugal, South Africa or the UK must have a medical certificate with a negative COVID-19 test result issued within 48 hours prior to arrival. Tests accepted are: Antigen, PCR, RT-LAMP and TMA tests. The certificate must be in English, French or German. Children under the age of 6 are exempt from presenting a COVID-19 test result.

Pros: "Finnair uses the American Airlines flight for this destination. Non-stop flight Raleigh to Heathrow (round trip).. Fantastic, on time and comfortable aircraft."
Cons: "It would have been easier to book our seat assignments if Fdfinnair had directed us to contact American Airlines directly to get seat assignments. Could not pre-select through Finnair. If you did not want the meat meal the vegetarian meals on both flights included mushrooms...not into fungi."
Pros: "Thanks, we had a very good experience, Everything was just fine."
Cons: "Seats are really uncomfortable. My lower back hurt by arrival time."
Pros: "AA staff in Guatemala are great, everything else about AA is bellow any other airline, definitely the worst airline."
Cons: "AA is the worst airline in everything, but worst of all is the AA staff attitude in Miami airport, AA staff in Guatemala are great."
Pros: "The plane was clean and flight crew was very pleasant."
Cons: "On a cross country flight I would expect there to be in-seat entertainment or at least power / USB charging at each seat. This flight had no AC power nor did it have USB charging."
Pros: "Was impressed with the legroom, and complimentary in-flight entertainment. I am a big dude (6'4" - 230lbs), and I found it enjoyable to have room for my knees (I feel like there are a number of airlines where my knees are in the seat in front of me). The crew were very pleasant; they worked to move the people in my row so I wouldn't have to be squished between another guy (also a big dude)."
Cons: "I wish the snacks were better. I would love some complimentary fruit options."
Cons: "Meals were minimal. Entertainment system is archaic. Seats tight and narrow and hard."
Pros: "I enjoyed the customer service, the nice landing and the pilots recognition that too many announcements on night time flights is unwanted."
Cons: "I was on the plane for 50 minutes before we departed. I was in group 6. The people before my group waited even longer. I also don't like Americans stand alone terminal at LAX; there's no vendors or services there."
Cons: "Flight was delayed for nearly 5 hours. There was no accommodations for the delay, except for apologies. Very limited snacks were provided, but this huge delay cut into our reservations and vacation in our resort."
Pros: "Very nice, hot meal a bonus - didn't know we'd be given dinner :) Seats ok - leg room acceptable"
Cons: "Thought we were flying British Airways - even this survey says it's BA - went to wrong ticketing desk and was sent to American - had to let our friends in Germany know the change by email - worried they wouldn't get the email in the muddle of their night and they'd go to BA gate undead of American. It was a little disconcerting"
Pros: "Excellent service. Loved the tv screens with the remote. Exclennt flignt"
Pros: "Quick boarding, on time departure and early arrival. No waiting for a gate at LGA upon arrival - excellent."
Cons: "Delayed!!"
Cons: "I've flown a lot, and I really couldn't believe how rude the flight attendants were on this flight. They seemed very inconvenienced by their job. I gave a snack pack back to a FA bc of my allergies and she snatched it out of my hand while walking by me without even looking at me...my husband's jaw dropped, he saw it too. It was unbelievable how rude they were."
Pros: "the crew was pleasant and efficient The landing was really smooth compared to my trip in the opposite direction."
Cons: "paying extra for a small seat was really frustrating"
Pros: "On time, good food, good entertainment and comfortable seats."
Pros: "Everything about the crew and the in-flight amenities was comfortable and well-planned. The flight attendants were friendly and responsive and the plane was clean and comfortable. I felt that there was enough legroom even in economy."
Cons: "The entertainment system lost power in my section about 30 minutes into a ten hour flight, and while some of that time was spent sleeping I wasn't even able to turn on the reading light. I know the flight attendants tried several times to restart the system and I appreciate that, but there were several dark lonely hours spent waiting for dawn."
Cons: "Missed connection flight because they were late taking off, stuck in Munich all day. Only some of us got our second ticket to begin with even though we were told to check in to both through AA. They did take responsibility and pay for our lunch though so there's that."
Pros: "Gate crew provided frequent updates about the nature and duration of our substantial delay in takeoff. Polite and efficient crew"
Cons: "2.5-hour delay caused me to miss connection in Tokyo. Boarding took a long time. Nearly one hour for my suitcase to emerge on carousel, well after all other bags. Legroom minimum in coach. Sandwich for the snack was frozen in the middle."
Pros: "Tons of entertainment options, friendly crew, flight was on time"
Cons: "My seat was not clean"
Pros: "Clean equipment and good food"
Pros: "Good food & movies."
Pros: "My neighbor."
Cons: "We sat on the tarmac for over an hour for no apparent reason."
Pros: "I can't comment on food or entertainment and there is no N/A option. I did not purchase food or use the wifi for entertainment. The seat I upgraded to was comfortable and spacious even if it didn't recline (I sat in front of the OWWE)."
Pros: "It was a good and comfortable flight and a nice crew allthough it was Operators by AA"
Cons: "The food is not overwhelming."

Cons: "In coach you only receive a drink a cookies."
Cons: "There should be entertainment on a 6 hr flight."
Pros: "Nothing in particular."
Cons: "The 10:50 PM flight was delayed beyond midnight with no prior indication. The reason given was the flight from Dallas delayed due to weather. This looks childish. Why not pay for inconvenience. Is our time and hardship so invaluable?"
Pros: "All the movies"
Cons: "Legroom"
Pros: "plane was entirely too small for any hope of comfort will advise friends not to book a flight that includes American eagle, and will not use American in the future if I can avoid it."
Pros: "Almost half empty cabin made this a very pleasant flight!"
Cons: "Food on AA was mediocre as usual. Edamame salad was nice and fresh for a change. Desserts are now prepackaged wrapping similar to candy bar..."
Cons: "Out would be helpful if there was a visual cure at boarding of what group is "now boarding". It's not always possible too hear over the noise. You also might as well tell group 3 and 4 passengers to check luggage in advance to encourage an on time gate departure."
Pros: "BA system down. Najor delays and long lines. Flight good."
Cons: "Everyone excellent"
