Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "A very pleasant experience, nice crew."
Pros: "We landed Friendly crew"
Cons: "Tray table broken Entire flight too cramped. Grateful I didn’t have the last seat in the back across from the lav. can you squ3eze any more seats into that aircraft?!"
Pros: "Arrived alive, didn’t sleep in the Charlotte airport like last flight. didn’t lose a bag....didn’t check one, learned that lesson before"
Cons: "WiFi did’t work. Boarding the end of the terminal/gate was a mess. Crew was late, so flight was late. Packed in like sardines....normal American Airlines."
Pros: "Everything was great."
Cons: "Paid for First Class so I could sleep on this red-eye. Wasted my money. Seat was uncomfortable, legroom in my bulkhead seat was horrible. I can sleep anywhere...make that ALMOST anywhere, now."
Cons: "Offered entertainment"
Cons: "There was a three hour delay for missing crew."
Cons: "Caught an earlier flight and the entire team made the process seamless."
Pros: "It’s not like it used to be. U S based airlines lag behind their European and Asian counterparts"
Cons: "There’s always room for improvement. Too much to list here"
Pros: "many movies"
Cons: "Uncomfortable plane"
Cons: "The flight delayed several times, and the gate was changed. The plane is very old and no service at all (not even water during the 2 hours flight)!"
Cons: "That I had to take multiple plans when I wanted a one time stop"
Pros: "Seat very small"
Cons: "Too many delays that made me miss the original time I was to catch my connecting flight. Missed my appointment in Spain as a result..."
Cons: "5 delays with the flight. Had to Switch to a flight leaving from SFO and pay $60 for an Uber to get to SFO"
Cons: "in the airport, the gate area dirty!, bathrooms dirty, no place to charge phone. The walk to the airplane, getting aboard the plane after the gate and flight changed and delayed. Being told it was weather related on the plane and being told it was MAINTENANCE by customer service. The plane was very crowded, the flight attendants never smiled. WHen i told the attendant i was being "rained" on he said...i know its happening everywhere..... he said there was nothing he could do but get me paper towels...they never came. I was very annoyed getting off the plane walking back and forth....it was aweful. and my flight before this was no better i am VERY TURNED OFF BY AMERICAN AIRLINES RIGHT NOW."
Pros: "The crew were polite, accommodating and understanding"
Cons: "The gate was changed 1hr prior to boarding despite the arriving plane having landed 3hrs prior. So with stroller and infant in toe, I had to run to change terminals/buildings. There was no assistance or prior warning regarding this from the check in staff and I made it all the way to the original terminal and gate before having to turn around. The desk staff at the gate was asked about early boarding for infants and said it would be okay but didn’t give clear instructions on boarding so I sat down and they began boarding each group 20 minutes later and did not give priority to mother’s with infants. The stroller which I brought to the gate was then tagged incorrectly with a white tag instead of a pink tag. I was later told by he crew that it meant it would go directly to baggage claim instead of being brought to the door. According to the crew, all staff know to tag with a pink tag. At every step there was blatant display of inconsideration that made an already difficulty journey, that much more challenging."
Pros: "Fast flight."
Cons: "Hours of sitting without free Wifi and flight attendants that could care less. Also the small print in all of AA’s ticket deals and what they really don’t offer."
Pros: "Left and arrived more or less on time. No major issues."
Cons: "Gates are way too far apart in Miami and the golf carts to get between areas seem to require reservations and long waits. Ridiculous. Most MIA staff was very rude (this wasn't American's own staff, or TSA, I should note). American stripped my group of our seat assignments (which we had selected 6 months prior) without reason and with minimal apology. No solution offered. Got middle seats but luckily was able to switch on one of the computer kiosks. Flight crew didn't seem to care that other people moved to the for-pay seats further up front (the flight wasn't full)... so why did we lose our seat assignments and get grief with not being able to select anything good? Not impressed."
Pros: "Quick, efficient"
Pros: "The fact we arrived safely"
Cons: "Long time to claim baggage, three hours delay, uncomfortable seats"
Pros: "I liked arriving safely, although we were an hour and a half late"
Cons: "American switched pilots last minute, so all passengers sat waiting in our cramped seats for about 15 minutes while pilots got situated in the cockpit. Then it was discovered a preflight mechanical check hadn't been done. So we all sat for another HOUR waiting for the mechanics to arrive and do their work. The flight attendants were unpleasant and rude."
Pros: "Nice new seats."
Cons: "The new seats are meant for "people shorter than 6 feet tall" as the flight attendant said to me. Is the airline industry deliberately discriminating against 6'6" people? 15% of the people you seat based on population are over 6'. I'm sick of paying more money for my long legs."
Pros: "I appreciated the interactive screen on the backseat, which provided me entertainment watching Doctor Who and playing Angry Birds. I also liked that the power outlet to charge my phone was more accessible on the backseat instead of below my seat, which is normally where I find it."
Cons: "I did not appreciate that there was a device mounted below 2 of the 3 backseats in my row. Those devices cut into at least a few inches of valuable room to store a carry-on bag. At worst, I've seen 1 seat have such a device, so it was quite disappointing to see 2 seats with them, including mine."
Cons: "Although I should now be at my final destination, I still have 11 hrs of travel to go. My flights were changed three times. The first cancelation caused me to buy new tickets at a higher price I had originally purchased them at. We were redirected from Kayak to Vayamo and they have no sense of customer service. Horrible"
Cons: "Rude crew, no bathroom useage for entire flight and staff would not help handicap with luggage."
Pros: "At least they kept throwing food at us on the plane."
Cons: "Arrived 3 hours early to CDG, and a long line to check a bag. It took so long, eventually they allowed people to cut in line as their flight departure times neared. 2+ hours later, I finally got to a kiosk to print my boarding pass and baggage tag, but now another line to drop off my bag on the conveyor belt. With less than 30 minutes to departure, and still haven't gone through security, I gave up and made my checked bag a carry-on as well. And then tight seats on the plane, with no individual screens (the movie played on a tiny screen 2 rows up in the aisle.)"
Cons: "The tsa in chicago was very unorganized. The tsa workers were extremely rude."
Pros: "The spaciousness of the seating on AA is tops bar none"
Cons: "The cookies and it was cold. Jesse"
Pros: "It was uneventful and nobody got aggressive or put hands on my."
Cons: "No free meal was served."
Pros: "I think they were holding the plane for a connection flight arrival."
Pros: "Boarding was simple"
Cons: "For my whole three hour flight a child kicked my chair, i asked the mother politely if she could get her to stop. the woman didn't even apologize and the kicking continued for three hours."
Cons: "Very hard seat"
Pros: "On time"
Cons: "Food horrible especially for first class and entertainment did not work"
Pros: "Being able to see movies for free was a real plus since the flight from Australia to Wash.DC is so long."
Cons: "Everything OK."
Pros: "Had row all to myself--that's a rarity"
Cons: "1hr departure delay"
Pros: "Older aircraft, seat cushion was on its last legs regarding comfort as I sunk to the frame of the seat. No onboard entertainment on the headrest as compared with our outgoing flight."
Cons: "The seat discomfort and the lack of entertainment."
Pros: "Entertainment had many options with a few good and recent movies."
Cons: "I purchased Alaskan tickets, hoping for their legroom, baggage guarantees and excellent beer. Instead I got an American Air flight – one of their trusted partners. None of their deals carries over to AA. I guess I will pay closer attention next time."
Cons: "Significantly late & rude, as usual."
Pros: "Clean, friendly staff, great baggage tracking. Smooth flight."
Cons: "Overcrowded, but that's the same no matter where. Usual rude frequent fliers, who also usually take up all the overhead space."
Pros: "Getting off of that plane."
Cons: "I understand delays happen and are sometimes out of your control. However, customer service is something that you can, should, and must control. I witnessed a lack of self control of the American employees (including a Supervisor) and every point of my trip w/your customers. I was embarrassed for the American executive team."
Pros: "Much more legroom on this flight, even though it was a smaller aircraft."
Cons: "Gate agent seemed a bit overwhelmed. Helpful, but not overly friendly. In stark contrast to my earlier flight from Charlotte to Memphis, where the gentleman was extremely pleasant and cheerful."
Cons: "There was no one at the gate to keep us updated about the flight delay"
Cons: "My luggage didn't arrive to Charlotte. I am still waiting for it one day later."
Pros: "once I made it on it was smooth"
Cons: "plane in cos had to refuel so we were 20 late leaving and I bearly made it to next flight in dallas they were closing doors, young people ran but im old so could not move as fast, it was a challenge to not miss flight"
Cons: "Wait 4 hours for a delay flight"
Pros: "Help that I received from check in through security to the gate was awesome. The person who checked me in offered me a wheelchair as it was a pretty long distance to the gate. I don't think that I would have made it all the way without her for thought and help! Same goes after the flight when we landed in Philadelphia. From the plane to gather my luggage and then to the place where my ride could pick me up. Awesome service. The stewards were also very helpful to keep me supplied with ice for my dogs. They get very stressed and tend to overheat. Thanks to a couple of the staff, especially, my dogs stayed very comfortable as well. Other then the fact that they got too warm a couple of times. Will definitely keep American in mind for another flight."
Cons: "I have not got a background in flying. I read the literature in the seat in front of me but I would like to have known sooner that I could turn a knob to help get cool air on my dogs. They were getting very warm and I spent a great deal of time fanning them when I could have just let the air do it's job."
