Cons: "I am an Emirates skywards member and I was placed in the middle seat when my preference on Emirates and Kayak is an aisle seat. After boarding it was explained to me that I couldn’t move to an aisle seat even though more than one seat was available. I asked to pay or to use miles I have accrued."

Pros: "I recently booked a flight on Qatar first, to Ko Samui, Thailand. When I got on the plane, I asked the flight attendant to please be careful when he pushed the cart down the aisle because the last time I flew, the flight attendant smashed the cart into my elbow and drew blood. The flight attendant laughed at me, so I told him, calmly, that if it happened again, I would sue the airline. He didn't like that, and so for the next ten minutes he sent three different flight attendants over to ask me crazy questions like, "Do you have anything you would like to tell us?" I have no idea what this was about. Eventually, I was told to get off the plane, which ended up costing me over $1,500 in transportation, hotel, and new flight (on Emirates) fees. It was and still is a nightmare because my vacation has been ruined due to having no money. I'm a master's-degree-holding English teacher of 11 years with no history of ever having been asked to get off of a plane for any reason, and no, I was not drunk because while waiting for my luggage to be returned, had a conversation with three Boston airport police officers who did not arrest me or even understand why I had been kicked off of my flight. Nor did I speak a single profane word to the Qatar flight attendants or security, and of course, I did not use violence or resist when I was told to get off the plane. Unlike Qatar's staff, the Boston police officers were very polite and understanding. Emirates, on the other hand, was a completely different story. They were great. The staff was friendly, and when I was sleeping, they didn't send their staff over to harass me. I have flown on Emirates, Qatar, and Ethihad many times, and I truly don't understand why Qatar's staff have been instructed by their managers that it is okay to lose long-time customers and kick professional teachers off of their planes just because they think I wasn't perfectly sweet and nice to them all the time. I am an American, and in my country we have freedom of expression and speech, as long as that speech does not indicate violent intentions or use profanity or insults. Basically, I felt as though I was in a country with no rights to free speech at all. Presently I am having my lawyer work up legal documents for Qatar to get my money back and to reimburse me for travel and hotel expenses, as well as having to take two extra days off of work to reschedule my flight. I truly believe in the transparency of the travel industry through using comments like those I am making you readers aware of right now, and I assume you will benefit from this rhetorical question/advice: Emirates and Ethihad are sometimes a little more expensive than Qatar on certain flights, but is it really worth it to risk having Qatar take your money and make you miss your flight for no reason? Is it acceptable for an airline operating in the USA to deprive Americans of their right to express concern to the flight attendants on their plane?"

TSA held me up, I almost missed my flight had to be rushed on and no place to put my things so I had to sit squashed in the middle seat with all my bags for a 12 hour flight. I won't EVER go through Boston AGAIN. I won't ever chose Emirates for that long flight again, if I can help it. The WORST!!"

Cons: "I paid a LOT of money for a Business Class seat and yet I was never notified that my flight was going to be delayed in departing by 12+ hours until after I arrived at the airport. According the the flight crew, they were notified at 9am that morning and the airline had my phone number and email, yet I arrived at the airport at 8pm because I was never notified! I spent $50 to take a taxi to the airport and now I had a 10am departure the following morning! I was given no compensation for this massive issue. Just "sorry, come back tomorrow!" I was very upset! My choices were either take ANOTHER $50 taxi home that night and then another $50 taxi back in the morning or get a $150 hotel room at the airport. So glad I paid THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS for my Business Class seat (a big spend for me as I've never flown Business Class before but felt like a special treat for a special occasion). WTF, Emirates!"

I think direct flights from Emirates are outstanding but the code share with Jet Blue did not work for me. For food there was Hindu meal option which did not specify veg or non veg we were served lamb but FYI Hindu meal means no beef and could be veg or non veg which does not make sense. Emirates should clarify that. So we ate nothing on our flight to Dubai."

Cons: "for all the hype about how this airline is a "luxury" class airline their seats in economy were the same as everyone else's. Not every comfortable for long halls. They could have a premium economy like British Airways does and I bet it would be popular. The business class was also sub-par. We sat behind it and I could see that they did not even go to flat beds-- Turkish airlines (I hate to say this) was far better. for the cost of a business class ticket $4500 - it should be a lot better) also food quality was ok - not great entertainment - not a huge variety for those who just want something mindless - the movies were ok not great."

There was no information provided to us on the plane on what to do once we disembarked (even if we were supposed to connect to another SAA flight). As a result, I spent (6!) hours at the airport in Jo-burg trying to locate my bag (my “Health” app clocked 3.5 from wasting all over the airport. While doing this, I was also hungry and thirsty. Food on the flight was inedible. As an example, for dinner I got cold orzo “salad” (meaning cold orzo with a couple of flecks of green bell pepper”, the main was pasta (again?!) with some red sauce; there was also a freezing cold bun and a cold cobbler of some sort. Breakfast was equally bad"

I was in the front third of the economy cabin, and by the time they reached me they'd run out of 2 of the 3 choices, and the remaining one, a beef goulash, was probably 2 ounces of meat, plus fake mashed potatoes and frozen vegetables cooked to the usual imperfection. Another container had a side of orzo, probably 1.5 ounces, and there was a snack-sized Snickers. That was it until breakfast about 12 hours later on a flight that took off at 10:40 am local time."

Cons: "Webjet, after 3 failed booking attempts Webjets booking resulted in them booking me as “Josh” vs “Joshua” and South African Airlines wouldn’t allow me to check in. After webjet refused to fix the issue claiming it would take a week to fix, South African airlines forced me to pay $2,700 to repurchase the same ticket in order to board the flight."

Cons: "Webjet booked the tickets wrong and put 2 tickets into 1 persons name. We had to spend $1500 to buy a second ticket to the same flight because the travel agent was not willing to fix the issue in time for the flight take off. We went to the airport 3 hours early to make sure of no issues! And then we had to deal with almost missing the flight!!!"

I boarded a flight from Washington to San Fransisco then from there to New York but none of these charged me the carry on bag. When I reached at New York they said your laws (south african airways) does not allow a person to have carry on bag and laptop bag. At this time I had already extra lagguage which I paid $200 and they told me to pay another $200 dollars for carry on bag. They were so rude to me they told me to leave the bag if I do not have money. I was stranded. I tried to tell them that I boarded two flight which they did not charge me. They said the flights has different laws. But when I was going to New York i used the same flight with carry on lagguge and my laptop bag. So I paid $400. When I entered the flight I was shocked to find that almost everyone had a carryon bag. I felt that they did that to me because I was black and they wanted to find advantage on me. I was so stressful because I had no where to go. I used Delta flight when i was coming to new york but I have never experienced this charges. Now international flight experiencing this horrible situation. . True paying $400 because I had carry on bag?? Am still stressful they took a lot to me. They did not gave me receipt. I asked them to give me receipt all what they were answering me was like "just go." I have never been in a such situation. That is why I said I do not have appetite of boarding South African airways again. Is it true that your laws doesn't allow people to have carryon luggage? If it is true why some customers had the carry on luggage?? my carry was small it was not 23 pounds. Am still feeling pain for what they did to me. I know the name of the woman who was rude. If you treat passengers like that, there will be no good. The complain customer."

She said she didn't have hot drinks, didn't have white wine and failed to offer choice of red wine but gave the shorter bottle when asked a second time. There was no ice either. This sounds rather petty on my part and I apologize for such. The real issue is I had a dickens of a time coaxing her to smile. Secondly. there was no video function beyond flight path for the entire flight. I live in a village in Zambezi and truly enjoy watching media on flights as I don't see much at home in Kanono and haven't figured out computer very well. The crew said they would reboot (?) the program but that didn't happen. There was no apology for contracted feature not being available, I sure wish I could have watched movies as I am not able to sleep in general."

At one point we compared the same crew member's behavior toward a business class passenger and it is evident the crew member did not think economy passengers worthy of minimal courtesy and respect. Someone had thrown up on the plane in a seat near us early on the flight and there was a terrible smell on account of the passenger not disposing of her air sickness bag. When we asked the crew for help in kindly reminding passengers to dispose of their airsickness bags, if used, they were very dismissive rather than helpful."

Cons: "I reserved extra legroom twice. They lost it twice without any notice. After printing the boarding pass and finding a middle, no-legroom seat assigned, customer service unconcernedly said that when you book through a third party, that sometimes just happens. I don't physically fit in a cramped regular seat, too tall. Getting a transfer pass printed in Johannesburg was a nightmare too, with three priority agents handling literally thirty requests in the time it took the regular agents to handle three. Also, the on-board video system was broken, with one screen in my row not working and two more with the vocal channel not working."

Cons: "The audio on my TV didn't work, it was very muffled. I understand that it was probably a technical problem, but for a 15-hour flight, I really would have liked to have been able to watch a movie!"

Cons: "The arrangement of the airport was disconcerting. To get to your gate you have to pass a another security point that you can not leave. The area was akin to a cattle yard. No bathroom, water, or amenities. You had to stay in your pen until boarding. Duty free was not allowed and had to be purchased on the plane for an additional cost. Not to mention the whole stopping in Dublin, Ireland for fuel without notice. There was nothing in my paperwork about it and we were only told to stay in our seats for the next hour or so while they refueled. We didn’t do that on the flight over was that was worrying and we were given no additional information."

Pros: "I took a roundtrip to Addis Abeba, Ethiopia from Washington, DC. The trip was 13 hours there and 16 on the way back (I think that included a refueling stop in Dublin). There was plenty of food and beverages provided throughout the flight - usually every 3 hours or so. Blankets, pillows, and several movie/entertainment were provided."

Pros: "After a bit of confusion in ADD airport, we reached the terminal where my connecting flight was leaving from. Terminal 1 of ADD airport should be avoided at all costs! Boarding and the flight crew did a admirable and top job and made the difference for me."
Cons: "Terminal 1 Disgusting. Rundown, embarrassing, chaos everywhere and no real sense of security. No police or security presence. You could just walk right into a gate! I was shocked to see this especially being from NYC. If you can avoid Terminal 1 do so. The seats were DISGUSTING! Dirty, warped fabric seating was dirty and caked on. Smelled and many seats were visually broken. I'm glad I brought with me some Clorox wipes to wipe my area down with. You get what you pay for but wow! I would not spend my money on this airline again."

Cons: "Kenya changed my flight to two hours later 18 hours before I was to leave. Making me have a 10 minute connection. Then after an hour in a airline office they promised to hold my connection. When my flight landed on time, they did not hold my connection. So they changed my flight and didn’t follow through on the fix. We would now miss wedding activities and business meetings. Then my partner got sick and they refused to taxi us to hotel for the night but take a bus that leaves every three hours. Her sickness got worse and there was a Kenyan airlines doctor who evaluated her at the airport after waiting 40 minutes laying at check in with her crying due to pain. We had a medical release from the doctor saying she needed extra space to lay down but the check in manager refused to make room for her saying the flight is full and she would not upgrade her to accommodate the medical release because we had an economy ticket. My partner looked so bad that the flight crew considered kicking us off but eventually made the space for her to lay down and were helpful on the flight. This is this disgraceful and the worst experience I’ve had with any company."

Cons: "The seats were so tightly packed that it was impossible to sit straight. It was like being in some medieval torture device. I was in constant physical discomfort, verging on outright pain, for 9 hours. It was HORRIBLE. Also, the "dinner" served in-flight was unfit for a dog."

Cons: "The plane was old. Some seats didn't recline. My husband's sound system didn't work. The audio selection was minimal. The bathroom started out filthy with urine everywhere, and stayed that way. These things are inconvenient on a 10 hour flight!"

Cons: "three of us were travelling together with 3 bags. Two bags didn't come - they were left in Nairobi. We were in Nairobi more than 3 hours so it should have been enough to get the bags on the plane. This is super frustrating - also can Kenya Airways not deliver bags in nairobi if they left them. I do understand when flight connections are tight etc, but this wasn't."

Cons: "Economy Class Boarding should be done by Seat numbers or Aisle numbers. Fuselage Aisle numbers should be called first so they enter and get seated. Than other Aisle numbers should be called to be seated until the front up to Business Class is filled. It gets congested in the Aisle and frustration as passengers bump into seats and each other."

Cons: "Delays"

Cons: "I was not informed by either telephone or email that the flight was being delayed by 3 hours until I have arrived at the airport, despite having the customer contact information. Moreover the delay eventually turned out to be about four and a half hours; disgraceful and unprofessional! I no longer plan to patronize Kenya Airways if I can help it!"

Cons: "The entire experience with Kenya air was terrible, from the very poor customer service and knowledge and honesty of the staff, to the flight itself."

Pros: "Flight from Entebbe left late, we arrived in Nairobi late but still could have missed our connection but the airline refused to let us board. We were told they were booking a hotel for us and would fly out in the morning, we were left for an hour to wait for the KQ employee to return. We ended up sleeping in the KQ lounge and my bag was left in Nairobi. A day later they called to tell me the bag arrived, when I asked for them to deliver it they were very apprehensive and upset because they were not sure how they would organize this. No voucher was provided for this inconvenience and the customer service was sub part. Will not fly KQ in the future unless the airline makes a gesture to rectify this."
