The WiFi on the plane didn’t work despite them having 100s of movies and shows that would’ve been really great to watch.

Pros: "Boarding was smooth and simple. The crew nailed the flight. We were late leaving due to the incoming plane arriving late, but everyone caught up with a speedy boarding and making up some time in the air. The seats were comfortable and had decent leg room in the non-premium section."

The flight attendant was complaining during the drink service and she said she was going to fix it, but apparently the issue couldn’t be remedied because it never changed. Other than that, the flight was pretty good. The plane didn’t have TVs, which is so nice when flying with a child, so it would have been great to have some in flight screens."

Cons: "First time (and hopefully last) flying Alaskan. Boarding was ok, not the most efficient but it worked. Once aboard a predicted snow storm started (in Seattle so not the first time this has happened) and we had to de-ice. This process was exceptionally long, in fact so long that we had to add fuel for the trip. These two delays conveniently “timed out” the pilots, brilliant! Total delay was over 4 hours, all to be blamed on their ineptitude. Seems like the norm for airlines these days but this was blatant mismanagement."

Cons: "On my return flight it seemed that the attendants were trying to stop anyone other than the 19 or 20 people in first class from using the forward bathroom. On my flight out, the cabin was asked to "wait at row 6" for the bathroom to be free. That seemed reasonable, even though I was in row 6, and fair to ask. However, on my return flight they seemed to expect the entire rest of the plane to use the rear bathroom. That doesn't seem right."

Though I didn't take advantage of the in flight entertainment option of using a personal tablet, I thought that was an awesome idea. I'm interested in checking that out in the future. Cons: "I'm tired of being crammed into small and uncomfortable seats. It seems comfort is only for people who can afford it. Headrests were non-existent. I'm not extraordinarily tall but the seat stopped just above my neck and felt like a hard, sharp surface rather than something soft and padded. And, of course, there's not enough leg room. Especially once the person in front of you leans back. I don't mean to sound petty but it felt like the airline was more worried about maximizing profits at the expense of their guest's comfort."

That way if aisle seats fill first, seated people are not stepping back into the aisle to accommodate others needing to get a seat in that row, while everyone on the gang way must wait for the aisle to clear."

There were endless delays on all 3 flights, and there was little to no communication concerning the delay as it was happening, on our last flight (YYZ to SJU). One flight attendant was rude; needs retraining.

Westjet staff today came to my aid like everyone would hope for in a time of need. I was unwell on the flight and had to have assistance from the plane into the terminal. Caring and efficient is the best way to describe The staff who helped. Thank you

Nothing they did fixed it, not could the screen be turned off completely to avoid scrolling messages for 8+hours. During the flight I was told it couldn't be fixed until after landing. In that case why wasn't it taken care of before my flight ever started? Anyone inspecting the plane properly in between the previous flight and mine would have and should have seen the same error messages on the screen I saw, and resolved it then. ''Hot'' food in the main meal was salty and lukewarm. Also irritating that flights for 3 people booked 5 months ahead of take off with no option for us to choose seats should end up with 3 separate seats at opposite ends of the plane. Should automatically assign seats together for people booking that far out, on a first come first serve basis or allow seat assignment at time of booking by the customer. This flight was about the typical experience most passengers have come to expect from companies who have too much power and really don't care about the customers they are supposed to serve. This is not a reflection of the actual crew on the flight itself, they were average, not bad, but not great."

Pros: "The flight was so short we did not even get a snack, only an offer of a bottle of water; this was simply due to to short length of the flight. Basic economy had my wife and I 16 rows apart each in a middle seat. I was in the very last seat on the plane. Flight attendants were attentive and surprisingly very nice, legroom is non-existent (same as every flight in plain coach)."

Both outbound and inbound they changed the aircraft which meant our good seats got changed to bad. The flight times got changed twice as well. Not what you wanted on New Year’s Eve. Lots of people missed connecting flights.

It would be much more efficient - for airline and passengers - if the online check in system can catch this before arrival at the airport."
Cons: "There was a 90min delay on all flights going to toronto due to construction in toronto yet air canada (knowing this) boarded everyone on time anyway and made us sit on the runway for over an hour. They could have left us in the lounge until they were ready. Parents with babies do not appreciate such thoughtlessness. But hey, as far as air canada was concerned, they left the gate on time."

After over 30 minutes during which the gate staff could only tell me to wait and watch for my initials on the electronic board, the staff learned that some bags on my arrival flight had been accidentally diverted to Canadian customs rather than US customs, and passengers could not proceed to connecting flights until our bags were located. The customer service staff then worked very hard on our problem. I was instructed to re-book my flight, since by now the doors were about to close - but that customer service person could not re-book me, and I had to queue up again for another agent. When I got to the desk, that agent was able to get me approved to board my flight sans bag, ran me to the front of the Immigration line, and got me to my gate in time to board. I deeply appreciate her assistance, as my family was already on the plane."

Apart from the captain, the rest of the Air Canada staff exhibited the usual bureaucratic and defensive behavior I have unfortunately seen multiple times before. They're expensive (with a nasty computer algorithm that raises the price by over $100 each time you browse flights. The first time I checked, it was $300+; by the 3rd time it was over $600. When I used a VPN, the price magically went down to $300 plus, which was still a lot) and the experience is generally unpleasant. I have to brace myself for their lack of common sense behavior every time I deal with them. If I didn't have to fly with them, I wouldn't."
