Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Cons: "Boarding in the rain is definitely not a good experience! The flight delayed so long that some of us who had connecting flights had to run from gate to gate (including clearing Canada customs) within 20 mins. Last but not least, Taipei Taiwan should NOT be listed as China."
Pros: "Boarding was easy and efficient"
Cons: "We paid an extra $100 for each ticket for premium seating, supposed to be a step above the basic coach ticket with more leg room (my partner and I are 6'+), but our seats were no different than anyone else's. In fact, the seating chart the agent provided for selection when on the call to add this was not for this plane, as it turned out. We will be requesting a refund!"
Pros: "The fact that the in-flight meal was as cold as the crew, and you got to pay for that coldness. Just love it! You get me right?"
Cons: "The Montreal-Vancouver route was by far the worst. The attitude of the crew was denigrating and arrogant."
Cons: "2 hour delay. Missed the connection in Vancouver in which crew could not be found and were not helpful. Ended up using another airline's counter for help to catch another flight out. Luggage was left in Vancouver. Eva Airline helped with luggage location and shipping to final destination."
Pros: "the crew was very kind with getting those with close connecting flights off first."
Cons: "it was an hour late."
Cons: "Had to spend the night in Toronto for flight delay"
Pros: "movie selection on international flight was great."
Cons: "Had a serious delay, which was not acknowledged in anyway. We just waited near the gate for a long, long time. Also, for one of my flights, my group number was never called. I asked the flight attendant about it (when I passed through the gate after most other customers had boarded) and she flippantly responded with something like, "Yeah, maybe I didn't call your boarding zone. I don't know. Whatever." This left a terrible first impression on me."
Pros: "Nice plane."
Cons: "WAY too hot."
Cons: "Took forever to board"
Pros: "Comfort. Individual screens"
Pros: "Superb experience all around....comfortable, clean, good entertainment, on-time, good food curteous crew!"
Cons: "Nothing- we will definitely travel with you again!"
Pros: "We had lots of leg room unlike the Air Canada Rouge flight that we took from Toronto ON to Kelowna BC. Also very little table on the rouge flight."
Pros: "Food was good, service good in business cabin"
Cons: "We left late, and despite it being obvious we were going to leave late, all the information posted at the gate and on the web said on time. Why is it that airlines don't tell the truth about departures and arrivals times?"
Pros: "Didn't have much good with air canada. Some of the worst customer service I've experienced. Flight was fine."
Cons: "Boarded an hour late, made us miss our layover even though they said they were holding our following flight to Tokyo. The both of us along with 10 others on our flight got to the gate 10 minutes after the flight was supposed to leave and they wouldn't let anyone on. Missed the first day of our honeymoon trip along with unrefundable hotel fees. I travel a lot and never had an experience like this before."
Cons: "Cancelling flights , lying about reasons why, running away from customers when the flight finally after 10 hours was canceled"
Cons: "The flight from Vancouver to Seattle on the 31st of July was delayed by two and a half hours, the return flight on August 5 topped that by one hour resulting in a delay of more than three and a half hours and a missed connection flight to Port Hardy. I had to stay in Vancouver over night and my husband had to pick me up in Campbell River. This meant a car drive to and back Campbell River of six hours instead of one hour to Port Hardy."
Cons: "The staff was really nice. However I was asked to switch seats and a flight attendant spilled water over me. They were very thankful that moved and very apologetic about the water so I feel bad for bashing them, I just think I should have gotten a free snack or something. The rest of the flight was alright."
Pros: "Leg room adequite."
Cons: "Only beverages served, there wasn't the usual snack."
Pros: "Seat availability (lots of empty seats) Entertainment system had lots of movies & music Friendly flight attendants"
Cons: "Flight attendants could be more aware of his/her surroundings. For example, I was either stepped on (as a result, being woken up) or my backpack was stepped on several times when an attendant was walking down the aisle, and neither of those things were sticking out into the aisle. This has rarely happened to me on trans-Pacific flights (more crowded, longer flights) so I can only attribute it to the carelessness of the attendants and/or the aisle width but since I think aisle width follows international standards it's more likely the former."
Pros: "Not refunds, no voucher, no credits .... But still s stupid fee of U.S 200 to pay on my Next flight using same booking Code . RIDICULOUS !! Guess other airlines want my business and my friends' too.."
Pros: "Crew was great!"
Cons: "Why is there no TV?"
Pros: "It was great"
Cons: "My "window" seat was beside a wall. So i actually didn't even have a wi dow seat, not really."
Pros: "They were able to put me on standby for the next flight and I made it on. I would have been upset if had to wait for the last flight at 10:55pm. I understand this is not always in the airports control."
Cons: "My flight from Montreal to Ottawa was canceled and I almost had a panic attack. I was flying alone for the first time."
Cons: "Movies and audio lacked currency, simply old and little variety."
Pros: "That the plane didn't crash."
Cons: "When I flew to Toronto the plane left 15 mins late but arrived an hour an twenty min late. No turbulence or trouble, just late. I stepped off that plane to my connector to Paris when boarding was suppose to start but that plane was on an hour delay. The food is just horrible, anyone who has flown knows this, and on both flights first class was the only priority. They got to everyone else when it was convenient. This was my first time flying with Air Canada and will certainly be my last. I'll happily pay a little more for the other airlines. So if you fly with them, good luck to you."
Pros: "I arrived early and was able to change my flight to an earlier one."
Cons: "The air hostess/stewardess was surly...and looked like she hadn't slept.."
Pros: "We left and arrived early, the seat was surprisingly comfortable (it helped that there were lots of empty seats, including next to me), my full-size carry-on fit easily in the overhead bin, despite it being a small plane, the in-flight entertainment was always on and pretty good... everything went well."
Cons: "Only the things I've grown to expect on any domestic service (e.g., no food)."
Pros: "Normal economy flying, you get a seat and line to the bathroom. I am thankful we are not traveling the old ways. I am over expecting too much when you don't pay much for it."
Cons: "Paid for breakfast but did not get it. However, I did not say anything to the attendant."
Cons: "When I arrived in London my bag was not on carousel. I went to help desk to find out my bag was put on the next flight for some reason. No explanation given and no real accommodation given except telling when the flight would arrive. I guess I luckily only had to wait an hour, however it shouldn't be that way to begin with."
Pros: "Space and meals"
Cons: "I booked a seat to be seated right next to SO. However, upon check-in, they changed the seat without telling me. Fortunately, we were able to exchange seat to be seated together."
Pros: "AC changed to a different plane for our flight at the last minute, so seat assignments were messed up, and we had paid extra to choose seats. So why pay extra for seating when the airline can put you wherever they want at their discretion. In addition there was a minor delay in take off while the flight deck crew had to re-programmed the avionics to our scheduled route. But we made up the time en route and were only a few minutes late. On the whole, not a bad flight experience, just the usual frustration in the process. I long for the days when flying was a pure pleasure."
Pros: "Flight was on time"
Pros: "Everything was fine. The plane is pretty spacious."
Cons: "Had to pay for food on an international flight??? One bathroom in the back, and flight attendants were blocking the way to it for at least 70% of the time."
Pros: "Plane was very clean, airline staff were nice, rebooking a flight was super easy (automatic and via email)."
Cons: "They are very strict with carry-ons, and their overhead bins are quite small. If you have a "pushing it' carry-on that fits with US carriers, assume it will not fit on Air Canada."
Pros: "Hourly flights in a Boing 676. Comfy economy class seats with leather headrest (cleaner than fabric). Ample overhead space for carry ons. Individual TV monitors with entertainment (I prefer leaving it on flight itinerary status while reading a book). Good bretzels & tomato juice served by a multilingual flight staff. Boarding, departure & arrival on time to the second. Can't ask for more."
Pros: "The crew was friendly and helpful. This is a short flight on a small plane with only a few passengers."
Cons: "There was no food or entertainment, although they did offer drinks. It, as always, was cramped because airlines offer little in the way of leg or arm room: because this was a smaller plane, roller board suitcases wouldn't fit in the overheads so they offered sky check, however my backpack wouldn't fit either, and I couldn't sky check it because I was travelling with my laptop, so I spent the flight with it crammed at my feet, even though it was an average sized school backpack."
Pros: "Flight attendant very caring and friendly."
Cons: "Gate attendant very rude - made my daughter cry Her seat was way at the back. Baggage handlers lost a luggage strap - sturdy one 7 boarding pass The gate was changed to one at the end farthest from original gate It was supposed to be two flights - she ended up with 7 boarding passes in the end. Second really unpleasant flight with Air Canada in less than a year. Will avoid Air Canada from here on."
Cons: "Salty pretzels!"
Pros: "flight was on time"
Cons: "not even a little snack served with the drinks and the amount of legroom was minimal and I'm not tall"
Pros: "The crew actually enforced the zones when boarding, which often isn't the case and tends to slow things down."
Cons: "This connecting flight was worse, as we sat on the tarmac for well over an hour and were not provided with so much as a single beverage the entire time we were waiting or flying. Apart from the great in-flight entertainment system, the whole experience was brutal."
Cons: "Ticketed for Air Canada, but it was a code share flight with United Airlines. The check in at United took over 15 minutes because my reservation was not recognized by the United online system. Luckily a United agent was able to work through my paperwork and get me checked in, with luggage, via Ottawa to London, Heathrow. However, at the boarding gate for my flight to Ottawa, my boarding pass was deemed invalid and it took another 15 minutes to issue a new boarding pass - with seating at the back of the bus. Was a frustrating/annoying process. Luckily I encountered two capable United employees who worked to resolve the issues."
Pros: "The staff were efficient and friendly. The entertainment system is great."
Cons: "More room - but the flight was short and the price was right, so that's not a deal breaker."
Pros: "Gate assignment was only 44 minutes before take off and with the size of LHR got there after boarding had started. Confusion as right beside it was an AC direct flight to Toronto also boarding so lines were mixing. A hot meal provided which was good except for a stale roll and awful "salad". A hot wrap provided later in flight that was awful, should have used pizza pockets. Good crew and good flight. Always carry active noise cancelling ear buds or headphones."
Cons: "The flight was very late so even though we made our connection in Vancouver, our luggage did not. Not a peep of an apology from Air Canada either."
Pros: "It was only 1 hour."
Cons: "It was only 1 hour."
Pros: "Lucky as this was not a full flight so I had the seat next to me empty and lots of legroom with a bulkhead seat. The attendants were very nice and the onboard entertainment had a good selection."
Cons: "The food is just not good. Air canada needs to get a new provider."
Cons: "Can I give zero star?"
