Were able to get a tour to Mt. Etna
The hotel is less than level 4 stars, the staff at the reception desk is unprofessional!
The hotel is located on the cliff and the view is so great! The hotel staff are helpful. I especially like the cliff besides the sea and the view we had at breakfast. And the breakfast is also great with variety. It's only the location is not that close to the city centre. All the other things are almost perfect. You can even swim and do scuba diving in summer! Omg! How can it be so nice?
the location - just on the seafront noisy air conditioning motors on top of our room - had to have the room changed. breakfast selection was poor.
vew and location are v.good, excelent atmosphere. dinner menew of the restorant was surprisingly poor.
the view of the sea bit too far away from town if you did not have a car
Rooms and hotel was dirty, breakfast offer was very poor.
The grounds of the hotel are spacious and beautifully landscaped, with a swimming pool and views of the sea. We enjoyed a fine dinner in the hotel restaurant on a terrace overlooking the water. The staff was friendly and helpful. Even though it is a large hotel that seems to cater to many business meetings, the staff offers individual attention. The equipment for the swimming pool near our room was quite noisy at night.
Superb location. Great swimming pool and private coast area for swimming in the sea.
Hotel very nice ! I think it was one of the best in this part of Catania. Good price for 4 stars. A lot of flora, swimming- pool, access to sea. Hotel close to the street, but you don't hear it. Great view from the restaurat or breakfastroom. Breakfast very, very tasty and big choice of food. Rooms comfortable and nice. TV rich in programs. About 20 minutes from airport by taxi or 1 hour by bus. Stuff have problem with english- especially waiters. Food in restaurant sometimes very good but sometimes terrible. Small choice in menu. No buffet lunch. I have big problem with mosquitos. Even by close the window they where in the room.
Excellent hotel and service, great pool, quiet and comfortable Outdoor music speakers at restaurant came on at 7am every morning, location wasn't really walking distance to many facilities/restaurants, some confusion on checking out as wasn't sure if I'd pre-paid the room as I gave my cc details on booking so assumed I'd paid already.
Room comfort was good even if the bathroom was "old fashion". Breakast is indeed poor for the price and the fame of this hotel network.
Pool and beach facilities were excellent. Staff were friendly & helpful Cleanliness of the hotel was very poor, dirty windows & badly vacummed bedrooms
What a fantastic hotel, highly recommended,a real find. Pictures on web-site do not do it justice.Brilliant breakfast.
Semmi!!!!!!az hogy hazajohettunk!!!!NOTHING We were glad that come back home. The worst hotel which y ever stayed.Breakfast poor, small balkony not big enough for one,the room design year 70....and in the room internet is not avible, and, many many many things but is not enough time and place for this.DONT Goo too sheraton catania!!!!! Its a big shame for sheraton Semmi!!!!!!az hogy hazajohettunk!!!!NOTHING We were glad that come back home. The worst hotel which y ever stayed.Breakfast poor, small balkony not big enough for one,the room design year 70....and in the room internet is not avible, and, many many many things but is not enough time and place for this.DONT Goo too sheraton catania!!!!! The hotel met our criteria in terms of location, fascilities and cleanliness of the rooms. Our group really enjoyed our stay except the arised conflict during the check-out procedure. The staff of the hotel was trying to cheat us at the check-out time convincing us the the confirmed reservation didn't cost a thing. Outrageous!
It's not a 4 stars hotel, I will say it is more a 3*
Staff was generally very keen on satisfaying requests. A very nice pool area and breakfast was excellent. Room is provided with a little terrace which gives privacy. My room was overlooking the garden and on the pool side area with in addition over the restaurant. As such, it was extremely noisy and even during the night (once at 1 am and another at 5 am) I was awaken by loud noises of staff cleaning either the restaurant or the pool side area. The hotel is quite in a remote area (far from city center and not as easily accessible by bus than what is advertised). As for the beach, there are none. Access to the sea is through stairs going down in the sea, these stairs being built on rocks (which are also everywhere and it is not really enjoyable for swimming - especially not for kids).
Sheraton Catania is the delightful hotel for family who has some children. We enjoyed playing the table tennis and swiming at the pool. We want to stay again!! We used the shuttle bus to go to the center of the Catania, but it was inconvenience about the arrival location and the time schedule. The hotel taxi which was called for going to airport early in the morning was very expensive!!
Flexible staff allowing for earlier check in and slightly later check out to fit my flights Not really.
staff at villa mater where vert helpful and nice. a very good parking area for guest everything was just fine
Not easy to find a way to the hotel
The view from window. Comfortable bed. Bathrooms are very small and old.
nothing the room the noise
Nothing special Too far from centre. Parking a nightmare, under duress to get out of the cars blocking us in when going to airport Sun morning
Everything I would recommend Free Wifi Connection in all rooms. That will make the Hotel Superb
Free, secure parking in the hotel's yard Breakfast variety: far better than many more expensive hotels in Italy Great view of Catania from room windows Form for guests to give their opinion and suggestions (in Italian): we took it as a sign of the management wanting to improve the service Unbeatable value-for-money, a great base to explore east Sicily by car Somewhat hard to find, have you GPS at hand A little old room furnishing but in very good condition Only one PC for internet access: could be useful if there was a second one or a network switch with cables to plug in more than one laptops
The hotel is located in a very quiet place, clean and full of scent. Rooms and the whole hotel is perfectly cleaned. far away from Downtown Catania, the buses have no "orario" ...
The staff is very kind, the hotel is perfect. I can highly recommend it. At first it's difficult to find. but eventelly is very easy.
Really friendly staff and nice room with a fantastic view. the coffee
1) the central placement of the hotel 2) in low season they can park your car themselves in the garage 1) the city itself is awful: very dirty, all walls and historic buildings are in graffity even fountain and main street, a lot of poor and dirty people on streets outside the 1 main walking road (so in the evening it's scary to walk). We ran away from this city on 3d day, although planed to stay for 5. The main reason to come here is Etna - that is fantastic. 2) the hotel itself is business-style one with old furniture with respective "old smell" in rooms. Think that it should be cheaper
Free internet in the room and free drinks in frig, very nice deco overall.
Good quality, clean and friendly staff. A bit pricy. Location not great (Catania is not great as well) but close to the center.
Staff were very friendly and the food was very good
Well appointed and tastefully furnished. Friendly staff on the whole. Excellent food and breakfast - beware of the gourmet dinner, it has 8 courses! Not a great location, being tucked away in side streets a fair walk from the city centre. Driving is impossible - allow 1 hour to get to the airport at busy times.
The breakfast and the dining area were lovely and the staff excellent. We are very comfortable in recommending it to others
Location is excellent - Staff very cordial and efficient - Comfort rooms - very good breakfast NA
position for exploring
Friendly staff (although the barman was sometimes difficult to find) Some loud, brash Americans who were obviously on their tour of Europe, and thought they owned it.
Food in the restaurant was very good. Staff very helpful, courteous and friendly Our meal on thursday 21st was exactly the same as that on the wednesday although very good 20th. Howevber a word with reception ensured we had different menu friday and saturday which were bo9th excellent. some thought need sto be put into serviuce for guest who stay more than 1 night
the staff is very kind and helpful, especially Jessica who is a real etna-trip-expert". thank you for the patience and answers :) the bathroom is not too big and the wifi for 7 GBP/hour is not the 21st century
the view over the sea your staff in the reception should be better to understand and talk English, and why were the breakfast not included in the price it is at nearly any other hotel all over Europe?
Excellent bed and mattrice location
Buses to city of Catania close to hotel & easily accessible. Quiet area & safe even at night. All in all a great hotel close to everything. Showers are way too small. I am a bigger lady & found it a little difficult to shower due to the size of the cubicle. I thought a double room meant a double bed...I was wrong, we slept in single beds. Maybe the beds can be put together for a married couple.
Very clean. Nice size room. Very helpful staff. Name of hotel had changed so had difficulty finding it. Cwry nice hotel but it was under construction during our stay. The view was blocked because of this and workers were right outside our window. The noise in the AM prevented us frim sleeping and we had to keep drapes closed for privacy. This was extremely disruptive as we were traveling and needed sleep.
Value for the money. Jessica, at front desk , very helpful and friendly. Failure to keep breakfast items stocked.
Good room and services Rather impersonal
I didn't like anything best, it was good that the stuff speaks English. The room is pretty small and dirty, the housekeeper throw away many useful things from the table, it smells like mold, the breakfast is very poor and the same every day, we had ants in the bathroom.
Excellent breakfast, helpful staff, private parking.
Hotel is on the seaside , out of the city centre , the area is O.K. and quiet . the connection by bus with all of catania is O.K. and cheap .breakfast is very good for an italian hotel . is my first 3 stars hotel with 32 inch ( 82 cm ) lcd .
The staff were excellent and helpful. Nothing was a problem and it really was service with a smile. The interior rooms overlook a a beautiful courtyard which is very quiet.
Gorgeous patios accessible from the rooms, full of flowers. Excellent breakfast. They made a wonderful restaurant suggestion, too! Difficult to walk there from the train since there are no stop lights and few crosswalks. Not their fault, though!
The room was really cozy and cleen, and the guys at the recepcion (thanks a lot, Francesco) were veeeeeeery helpful. The recycling stuff for the water was a little noisy, and the TV didn't have international channels
" a real hotel" Finding the location is difficult from the directions.
We unfortunately just stayed one night on the way home from Taormina and the hotel was a stones throw from the train station and bus station. The rooms were great and the staff were very friendly. I was concerned about the location if you were exploring catania or going out at night. I would not want to walk back to the hotel at night!!! There is also no bar in the hotel for a quiet drink.
I love this hotel! It is wonderfully overdone and the terraces were very nice for relaxing in the evening. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. The water pressure pumps were a bit noisy
All staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly, particularly on reception. Rooms are tastefully decorated and the whole hotel is kept beautifully clean. We'll be recommending Villa Romeo to our friends. As we live in a quiet rural location, the traffic at night and the singing refuse collector below our window were the only problems!
The staff arranged for a breakfast to be delivered to the room the night before because we had to leave in the morning before breakfast was served The noise the toilet pump motor made every time water taps were used or the toilet flushed
Diana helped us with so many of our needs during our stay in Cefalu. The hotel was charming.
kindness of the hotel staff, wonderfull gardens, very good location to reach the hotel by car
The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean. I would whole-heartedly recommend the Hotel Etnea 316 to anyone thinking of visiting Carania. Also, take the guided tour that Marco does, it was terrific. The shower is small. Like barely large enough to be usable small. However, this is Europe, and it's to be expected.
It's a small but confortable hotel, with great staff. It's perfect for visiting the entire South coast of Sicily The location of the hotel is to far from any turist atraction. You must have a car to move around.
Very stylish. Excellent food. Charming garden and pool. Liked history and antiques. Very helpful staff. Lovely outdoor eating. No curtains in room, and one shutter was broken. Only a minor issue though.
there is a lovely view of Etna from some rooms and the breakfast room. The building and grounds are beautiful with shady gardens and pool. Although I hung my towels up to indicate that I wanted to use them again, they were still changed. The English of the manager was not good enough to understand me when I mentioned this. the restaurant is very expensive. This hotel is very difficult to find as it is situated in the sprawling semi-urban town of san Giovanni la Punta; it's not country and it isnt in a proper town either.
the hotels location is at a peaceful place, great installations, good personel, wireless internet in all rooms. food could be better.
The hotel is full of history and has a pleasant comfortable ambiance, stunning views of the Etna
I particularly like the friendliness of the staff, the accommodation was very good, the only thing that let it down was the quality of the pull out beds my children slept in
beautiful setting, helpful staff, good food, quiet and very comfortable.
it was cossy hotel with afishent stuff' very clean quite in the center of the towen waht eles can man wishb in a busy city. no budy new how to get ther ther is no mark on the enterance . no parkink place for the guest.
Staff very helpful, and its location is very close to all the nighlife and sights Nothing
English speaking staff, central location, value for money Street market surrounding the hotel, noises during the night, lack of parking, hard to find, poor breakfast.
The hotel itself is very clean, modern and new, centrally located just off Via Etnea. Easy access to town. Very good value for money. Finding the hotel was a challenge, not signposted and situated on 1st floor. The street itself is dirty and riddled with market refuse, although it is quickly forgotten once you enter the hotel. Breakfast was very poor. Cleaning staff at the hotel were very friendly, sometimes more so than the receptionists themselves.
morning noise because of location above street market
It's a small hotel near main shopping street Via Ethnea and very clean and cosy. We arrived in the dark and my first impression was, that the location is not so good, but I noticed that the hotel is closed and that only the guests can enter the lobby and the hotel itself. That gave me a reassuring feeling. In the morning, the picture was opposite; in front of the hotel is an open market till 1PM, but you don't hear the noise, when they are setting up the tables and stuff in the morning. The landlord was very nice and careful. As far as the breakfast is concernd, I liked the variety and the freshness of the food. And not to forget - they serve the real italian coffee at breakfast, which keeps you awake all day.
The hotel is located on a wonderful location, family, clean, comfortable, beautiful and surprisingly large room, rich breakfast... Great... Better than many 5 star hotels. For each recommendation!
Nice large room, very friendly staff! The surroundings of the hotel building might be a bit putting you off at first, but when you enter the actual hotel on the first floor: what a surprise!!!
The hotel is very central and the location is great. The staff are quite nice and helpful. All in all the hotel is clean. Surely will visit the hotel once again. Breakfast is set up quite early and so one has to wake up a bit early for breakfast.
The hotel staff was very kind and always helpful. Room was new and clean and has a nice bathroom. The hotel has a good location at the city center. It was a little bit difficult to find the hotel on the street. Bigger hotel sign would help.
very clean and beautiful rooms. Good location the rooms are not sound proofed and you can hear water pipes from other rooms
Breakfast as expected for a small hotel with no restaurant. Very pleasant to have breakfast on the terrace.Room quite small but very tidy, the same for the bathroom. Staff friendly and welcoming. Very good position in the centre of the city.
good location noise
location in center of catania
Staff was very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast, featuring both hot and cold items, breads, cornetti, cakes, champagne, and juices was not only delicious but the best that we have had in Italy. The room was clean, modern with comfortable beds. The location was ideal - right on the main shopping street of Catania and only 5-10 minute walk to the Duomo. The hotel is also very near the main open market selling fresh vegetables, fruit, bread, meat, and clothes. We stayed at the hotel in February. The temperature of the room was preset to 26 degrees Celsius. It was a little bit on the warm side. Although we tried to change the thermostat, it always reverted back to 26 degrees. This is only a minor complaint however as everything else about the hotel is perfect.
I liked most the comfort of the room especialy the use of the air conditon, and the tideness of the beds.and next time i will be visiting Catania again I will book overethere.
The staff were very helpfull Nothing
Staff is excellent. Price is very good. I will come back again.
the bed as to hard
Friendly and helpful staff.
The location of the hotel was good, it is on the main street and near restaurants. The bus to the Airport is just outside the door and cost only 1euro, so dont bother with a taxi. The staff could have been more helpful. we went upstairs to the roof bar on our first night and were charged €8 each for a drink, there was a buffet set out, but none of the staff bothered to tell us that if we paid one euro extra we could have had the buffet included. The reception staff didnt seem to know much about the Mt Etna tours, they werent able to book one for us, yet when we rang the tour operator from our room, we were able to get it straight away. The lobby of the hotel was always very quiet, very few people around, a strange feeling.
The location is excellent and the staff were so helpful and obliging. The cleanliness both of the room and the common areas was extremely good - better than in a number of 5 star hotels around Europe i stayed in.
We were in honeymoon and receptionist upgrade us to a suit.Staff is very helpfull and friendliness. Location is center and walk distance to many places. Smell of the room, Ac is not working proparly. Internet is expensive.
Staff very helpful and friendly. Quite central. They should try to increase in parking facility. If you don't have where to park, then it is impossible to find a parking space in the streets. For a Hotel, with very few parking spaces, located on the 2nd Floor, a small lift, the Hotel is rather expensive. Prices are like a 4 star Hotel in other Italian Cities.
The staff was very helpful and our room was very nice I was disappointed that there was no jacuzzi in the suite as promised. That was the only reason we paid extra and there is not one. But overall the staff and the room were very nice.
I appreciated a lot the beautifull room: large, with fine fornitures and, overall, a ceiling with original decoration. The staff (Simona and her collegues) was very efficient and polite. If I'll come back to Catania I'll choose Manganelli Palace again
Small hotel with very nice atmosphere. The rooms are beautifully decorated especially the sealings which are hand painted. Friendly staff. Difficult to find parking space
We really liked Manganelli Palace. The central location was perfect to walk around Catania and to take the bus to Aci Castello. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Our room was big with a decoratively painted ceiling. The bathroom was modern and very clean. But what it really made this place outstanding was the staff: Simona, Dario and Danilo. Kind and extremely pleasant, they helped us fully with our travel nightmares (BA and Alitalia), thank you all! We highly recommend this hotel to everyone in search of affordable luxury and individual courtesy.
Parking within hotel grounds, friendly staff The area of Catania - I would not return to Catania
Welcoming delightful staff and wonderful painted ceilings Cracked mirror in bedroom
Great accomodation, centrally located with a great breakfast. The staff were lovely and very very helpful always. Would recommend and will stay again.
location and character of rooms
Very helpful staff available 24 hours. Very quiet given position of our room overlooking a main road. Very safe and secure. Many hotels in same price bracket probably wouldn't compete. Controlling the air conditioning overnight
great room, modern facilities in a baroque style design, interesting design of the lobby, great terrace, friendly staff who knows English. a bit noisy due to the passing car, but totally worth the effort.
The room was elegant, well designed and extreamly comfortable. The price was dirt cheap for the quality of the hotel (89 euros). The Hotel Royal is on the same level as a 5 star Grand Hotel.
The location the hotel is close to city centre anb walking diatance to many historical monuments, shops and restaurants.
The room was really beautiful and the buffet breakfast was great - lots of selection and the freshly made coffee really added something. Loved having it out on the terrace too! The bathrooms were also a really nice size and had a great shower. The people at the front desk definitely could have been a little friendlier at some points, and the most friendly one gave us all wrong information for the bus times.
Good location; palatial rooms - great bar with fantastic views Too many electronic hotels on shower, lights, curtains etc that were very confusing and difficicult to use
Terrace bar was very nice and service there was good.
Staff were very freindly and willing to help i.e. they provided me with a map of the town so I could squeeze in some shopping after allday meetings! :o) The decor in the hallway is a bit dark, I guess this could be romantic if travelling in a couple but as a lone Business traveller I always made a dash to my room!
High quality accomodation More pillows required.
Central location (easy walking distance to historic centre, quiet at night), helpful staff, attractive building
Hotel royal is placed in the prettiest part of Catania. A walk away from piazza duomo and piazza universita and Etna st which has amazing shops. It's the best location in the best price and value for your money. The hotel has a beautiful design, each room is special, very helpful staff and awesome breakfast. We had such a great time and we felt like kings staying there :-)
staff breakfast was very poor and the hotel is rather dark inside.
no vegetables by breakfast
Excellent location for sightseeing. Beds and pillow (self selection) excellent as were the bathroom and breakfast. Highly recommended.
we enjoyed our stay in hotel mediterraneo very central breakfast was very nice rooms confortable
Perfect location -10 min.walk from the city center. Friendly staff. Excelent value for money. Quiet zone.
Clean and spacious room and bathroom. RIch, fresh and tasty breakfast (eggs, bacon, chees, toasts, croissant, sweets, variety of coffee, cereals, milk, juice, tea, fruits, etc.). Well decorated both, hotel itself and rooms. 15 min by walk away from Calcio Catania football stadium. Seemed as very calm and safe street and neighbourhood. Close to Bellini Park and Via Etnea (main street of the city). Extremely helpful and friendly staff except for one time when a lady refused to pack breakfast as we had to leave early morning for a tour. If you are in the neighbourhood, you will always find the hotel as there are signs and directions for it everywhere! Away from train station Catania Centrale. Quite distant by walk from Piazza Duomo (central square of the city). Otherwise a hotel with amazing service standards - would definately stay there if I visit again. Would recommend.
I liked the style of the room, the English language channels on the TV, the courtesy and helpfulness of the staff, the cleanliness of the room..
Clean environment & helpful staff. The spacious balcony could have a small table & 2/3 chairs outside. Also a canopy to ease the heat from the sun would have made it more comfortable.
comfortable bed, good aircon, decent size room, large in-room safe, fridge poor breakfast, location, bland corporate decor, lack of tourist info.
Parking was good. Staff very helpful and spoke good english.
Very helpful staff, good internet connection.
The staff was very helpful and the hotel and room were both very comfortable. The breakfast was also very good. Catania is not the most scenic city in the world and the outside view provided on the hotel's website gave a much more flattering impression of the hotel's immediate surroundings than actually is the case.
The Liberty hotel has it all: great location close to the center of Catania, extremely helpful staff, and charming decor.
The personel was very kind, very helpful. The breakfast is fine, our room (Junior Suite) was very beautifully decorated and comfortable, with a terrace. Very calm area.
very beautiful and comfortable in details
The rooms are very nice, I stayed there twice, and once they gave me a suite for the price of a standard double room, which is nice as well. The staff at the breakfast were extremely nice and the lady at the reception made a tremendous effort to make our stay more comfortable having a little child. The location is not so bad, as it is walking distance from the center, but the street itself doesn't look very nice. You park your car in the street and at the reception they did not explain very well that you could buy your parking tickets there. Consequently, we had a fine.
Lage, Service, Ausstattung
Beautifully decorated in Italian furnishings and tapestries. Inability to control room temperature. Hotel policy is not to run the air conditioner in October, despite the fact that outside temperatures were in the high 70's/low 80's during our stay. Since the A/C was not running, there was little air circulation in the room. Opening the exterior windows overnight was not an option since outside road noises and barking dogs were not conducive for sleep.
Stuff is really really friendly! It is my second time in this hotel.. And I am very content! The end of breakfast should be at 11..
The nice ambience, the cleanliness, the quieteness altough it's a hotel in the hart of a very busy city. And the - according to Italian standards - nice breakfast.
Staff vrey helpfull, very nice, would stay again. no complaints
Good central location with highly efficient and professional staff. A few problems re noise from nearby bars on the Saturday night!
Beautifully situated in the centre of Cantania with very high standard of rooms
Central location, friendly staff, great room.
Very friendly staff, helpful and competent. Breakfast rich and good. Position of hotel is good and room was quiet. I am looking forward to spend my time once more in this hotel.
Excellent location, Luigi on the reception desk was exceptionally helpful and even arranged to send on the clothes I'd left to our next hotel in Taormina! We were offered a choice of room and selected a small but well equipped and comfortable room with delightful french windows and balcony. We were on the side of the hotel and this turned out to be quiet. I'd advise you to avoid the front of the hotel at the weekend unless you are going to be out yourself partying late (it's a bit of a gathering place late on in the evening). The breakfast service was not replenished - we went there half an hour before it closed and it was pretty sparse to say the least, but the coffee and croissants were excellent. It's probably best to get their early. Our bathroom was a little on the snug side which may be a problem for some, but then we did have a choice of larger rooms had we wanted them.
Professional, discreet and what any experienced traveller requires, Bravo! Personal, hotel tour guide, facilitator for ones movements around Catania: local consultant...social, cultural and business.
