We have been travelling all over the world in 1st class hotels, the Melia Alicante is one of the best.. The Spa and pool was very cold
Free mini bar on 5th floor (royal). Staff on 5th floor very helpful and polite, especially when room change was necessary, due high winds. Not obvious that check in for royal floor is on 5th floor. Beware of staying on 5th (top) floor, during high winds, flag poles on roof make a terrible druming sound in rooms on harbour side. Parking is not included add about euros 18 per day.
Hotel location is perfect , you may choose to go in the beach or stay in the beautifull swimming pool with a great sightseen of alicante bay ....and in the night you may choose for hundreds of restaurant or disco in the port area or in downtown which is very close ....and safe area . fare at check out was 20 euros difference from booked .
The location was very good as it was near to the beach and a short walk to the city centre. The breakfast was excellent and included a good hot buffet as well as a continental style breakfast the actual hotel did not provide much information for guests.
very nice hotel, rooms very comfortable, clean, large, very good breakfast
Great location, very well priced spa This hotel is in great need for renovation as things have started to rust n the rooms and the carpets are full of stains.
the hotel was in a good location and the room was spacious, we had a sea view room with large balcony. there were some nice and not expensive eating places nearby. We had to wait to get into our room until 3pm, we were origanally promised it at 12.30pm.
nearness to the beach
Hotel was centrally located by downtown and castle. Hotel was great for family of 4
public parking adjacent. Helpful, bilingual staff. Located near historical sites. Room had a great view of the beach! Restaurant staff accomodated our request for smaller portions and sharing as we do not eat a lot at night as they do in Spain. None
Good modern hotel with all the expected facilities. In the centre of Alicante but not near the beach (no problem for us). Close to the old quarter of the city which is worth a visit. Hotel staff a bit abrupt - sometimes verging on rude.
Clean white sheets, good location. Not a lot of information for around the area. some complimentary bathroom products would of been nice especially as only traveling with hand luggage and being a four star hotel. also hairdryer in room not working, very important for ladies.
The Hotel overall was nice. The breakfast was poor and not always fully supplied. I'd not like to be there when it was busy
excellent location, rooms very tidy and clean. staff was very friendly and helpfull.
Location.. Breakfast saloon was not ok.
Rooms very nice Corridor smelled stuffy
position and still having smoking rooms! spa and gym unavailable
comfort and brand new condition
The location was wonderful, the hotel staff was very friendly and the room was great, especially considering the discount.
Very friendly staff, fast checkin and check out. good central location no
very friendly and quiet hotel (quiet despite it being located just in the city centre); even though we had a room to the street and promenade we could sleep blissfully and undisturbed by any noise till noon; I think Amerigo is one of the best things that could ever happen to Alicante I think the size of the roof pool was precisely quoted, though we found it a bit on the small side- great for one couple, not so great if other hotel guests want to use it at the same time too
Amazing hotel - love it. Egyptian cotton sheets and Korres products! Rooftop swimming pool - very relaxing and chilled out. Fantastic location Lunch on the terrace a bit pricy for what it is - but easy to get a sandwich to takeaway from outlets nearby.
Friendly staff slow bar service
quality of room
Breakfast The air conditioning system in room 313 did not work. In spite of being told repeatedly by staff that it had been repaired, it was not possible to cool room below 23'C
location and hotel level carpet not clean in the corridor and bathroom in the room not very clean
Modern hotel and very friendly staff As a five star hotel some details are missing, room maintenance isn't done effectively and quality of services is inconstant
This is an ideally located hotel, close to the beach, shops and restaurant. The room was cleaned to high degree everyday and the attached tapas bar served excellent food. The carpets in the hallways could have done with a clean.
Just back from our stay at Hospes Amerigo. The location is perfect in the old part of town. The rooms are comfortable We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were excellent the tapas bar in the hotel was great,(the best beer in Alllicane) the staff here again were fantastic. We did not try the resteraunt but the menu looked good the tapas was excellent.overall we would definatly stay again.People complained about noise can only say we had no experience of this and people who complained should maybee not stay in a city hotel.,Again thanks to all the staff with a special mention to Sergio and Andrew. . nothing
The convenience to the sea and the pool and pool area. The restaurant and the restaurants unprofessional idiotic host.
Quiet Long walk from station. It was only on the second day that the found the metro very close.
Fantasticly spacious rooms Good value room service Helpful staff Pool wasn't filled and we weren't notified it'd be empty
value for money, nice facilities it took literally hours to find it
swimming pool location - close to busy roads making access to beach awkward
Location, bar area, restaurant Pool not being open
Our kids were looking forward to using the pool but it was not filled. The bathroom doors kept self-locking.
All the hotel information relted to breakfast at 07:30 on mon- fri but it didn't open till 08:00, which caused a lot of inconvienience. The food was only warm,
great value for money and mostly all good despite having the ' please do not disturb' sign on, a member of staff knocked and entered the room at 10am one of the mornings
I have really liked the service and kindness of the staff working at the hotel bar Our room ran out of water, so we couldn't take a bath in the morning and there was no notice about it, so it was a little unpleasant.
very central location noise from other bathrooms
central position for beach marina and promenade no
The staff could not be any more friendly. They were all superb friendly & patient.I had a great time ther.
Excellent central location and very friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of restaurants within the locality. Nothing
A central location within a couple of minutes walk of the beach, tram, bus, taxi, shops and restaurants The only problem was that we could hear a few late night revellers going past the hotel, which isn't the hotel's fault and is maybe the price we paid for having such a great location and view
Very friendly, helpful staff. Stunning view of castle from our room which was spotlessly clean and had a fridge / mini-bar. Quiet with no noise heard from other guests or traffic. Hotel in ideal location for beach, harbour and old town. Reasonably priced. Only a minor issue but would have liked facility to make tea or coffee. We were okay as we brought travel kettle and kept milk in the fridge / mini-bar provided.
the location and value for money
Helpfulness of reception staff. The reception area is not particularly pleasant, which is a pity - all other aspects of the hotel are excellent.
A very convenient and central hotel for exploring Alicante. The hotel is rather old in furnishings, but is well maintained and is a 26 floor tower with only two small elevators which can prove to be a problem when busy.
very central and infriont to the beach nice view also the restaurant at the 25th floor ,very nice and good price, ithink this hotel need urgent restoration!!
Convenient position. Staff helpful Rooms- very small. In need of upgrading
Central location Very noisy if staying in a room on the lower floor
location was excellent - if you want to be close to the beach, marina, shops, restaurants. air conditioners were the old type ....a bit noisy... but worked well.
The location as it was central the staff were very friendly, and as we went with friends the bar in the hotel was a good meeting place. although we had great time the noise from the road was noticeable plus when we stayed one of the lifts was scary as it stoped when we were in it.
Convenient locations with many shops/bars/restaurants and beach nearby. Walls were very thin so sound carried from adjoining rooms
The view straight onto the port and beach of alicante and castle..amazing! Also the view from the restaurant balcony. The rooms were modern and very clean. Great location, by the bars restaurants, and beach, and shops. Couldnt be a better location. Did not provide kettle and tea and coffee for room.. Only mini ar of which all was chargable! And the bar at restaurant wasnt open for tea and coffee in the morning, and the breakfast was 13 euros per person per day!!! So we had to go out. Also the beds are both single in a double room, which is annoying as they move apart, should cater for couples better.
The view from our room on the 21st floor gave excellent views of the coast, harbor and city. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The hotel restaurant on the 26 floor was disappointing. The only good point was the view. The food was poor and the waiters were grumpy. The room could do with improving. The air conditioners seemed to be at least 30 - 40 years old, and did not work very well. The room was noisy; this was because the rooms had stone covered contrete floors and every movement of a chair bed or door seemed to carry over several floors. Also the doors had warped over time and were impossible to open quietly. The reception staff were not always very helpful. e.g. For information about Alicante we were told to go to the tourist information office in the city
Comfortable with excellent views and good location
English: It was neccesary to use the air conditioning in the room. I could choose between a smaller outside room and a room facing the yard.
the help we received from reception when we enquired about places we were wanting to visit. that we couldn't make a cup of tea or coffee in the room when we could have done with one.
Very good location, next to bars, restaurants, and promenade.
The fact that the hotel was very centrally located and close to the airport bus stop.
I liked everything. Handy, sober and clean, very confortable, much choice for breakfast including fresh foods, excellent quality/price value. Exactly what I look for in a hotel. There was nothing I did not like. Below you asked if I agree with the comments of other users. I do not agree with some of their comments. Lowering the mark because there is no tee or coffee in the room seems pathetic to me in comparison with the high overall standards.
Didn´t see much of it. We were out in Alicante and only slept there. Location excellent for partying!
Perfect location, both near shopping and the beach. Nice breakfastbuffet Witherspoon excellent coffee and a selection of fresh fruit. Thin walls, flums also wish for better knowledge of English among some of the staff.
Inter- and intra-city buses and the train station are right there. Close to the water. Lots of places to eat. Ultra small room.
Good value for money, good location. The second room I got was an ok size. I asked for a non-smoking room in my reservation and at chack-in but was given one that smelled strongly of smoke and had an ashtray. This was still classified as a non-smoking room. I got to move to a larger room that was non-smoking on the evening of the second day. Breakfast buffet was quite sparse.
The location is fantastic. No facilites to make a hot drink in room.
Friendly, helpful staff. No bar for a pre-prandial drink.
Good location. Nice big rooms with balcony.
Close to the beach. Near airport busstop. Clean room. A very small balcony. It was´nt a nice view from it.
Excellent location Dark room, reading lights near bed also too dark
The location is excellent for everything, including the airport bus and the tram to towns to the east. Lots of nearby restaurants too. I had trouble sleeping one Saturday night because of many young people from the club Papparazzi gathering and making noise on the street. I understand you can't control this, but it affects my memory of my stay.
THe staff were great. It was close to the beach and the shops. The room was noisy at night (traffic).
Excellent location! Good for traveling with baby, they have a kid's chair at breakfast room, but only stairs at the hotel entrance.
staff was helpful
Very favourable position in town. Free wireless internet connection in the rooms.
City centre location The lack of parking in the area since the hotel's garage was full.
We really liked Reme. a minibar was greatly missed. although the shower could be bigger, the price for a quarduple room was acceptable, and the beds comfortable. small comforts like glasses, minibar, extra pillows etc. was missed. a balcony would also be nice, but it was definitely worth the money.
very warm welcome; clean and modern room; quiet air conditioning duct immediately above bed; condensation showing
Perfect position close to the old center and to the beach . The double bed in superior matrimonial room is small i think 1.50 meter .
Staff were very friendly and location was excellent, very close to beach, esplanade, typical restaurants and city centre. Room was nice and clean as was rest of hotel. Ate in Iberian Restaurant 2 streets behind hotel which served lovely food at great prices. Bed was not very comfortable (hard mattress and was standard double so a bit small. Ok for 1 or 2 nights
while the room was adequate we were unable to open the window because it was too high bearing in mind my husband is 5'.10" and with his arm fully extended could not reach the window catch.
Staff more helpful than would have expected, with excellent location other than Car Parking, also very close to Beach No Parking facilities, paid EUR 20 each night for Parking in nearby Underground facility
I found the hotel staff to be extremely helpful and I was impressed by the cleanliness of the rooms.
the very friendly staff, the location is excellent. we felt the buffet breakfast was over priced. and not catered for out taste. the coffee machine was broken although we were served tea/coffee these were cold.
Nice location, friendly staff Building lot in front of hotel
Central location for shopping and entertainment.Very good links to public transport. Tea and coffee available all day. Double bed much appreciated rather than the usual twin beds shunted together.
Staff were helpful & friendly. Location ideal for Alicante City & Airport. Tea & Coffee facilities for self service very good (loved the espresso). Breakfast was ample, self service again and laid out nicely. Rooms were clean and bathroom spotless. More people in Hotel on the second night, we were unable to sleep. It was as if the couple next door were in our room and very loud in the other rooms. It seriously needs sound-proofing.
Clean an modern hotel in quiet yet central location a few steps from the beach, the old town and the airport bus stop. Ideal for short stays. Good silent AC. Overall higly recommended. Nothing to dislike for our purpose of the trip, but others might find the rooms relatively small. There is meter parking outside the hotel, but not sure about the cost and availability of that. Breakfast was sufficient but rather dull.
location small dinning room
The personel tryid to solve the overbookin problem within his power. We did not receive the room we had booked and charged. The hotel has overbooked our suite. The description of the views to the harbour was questionable because the hotel was not located at the seaside street. Between the houses you could see a bit of harbour!!!!
Excellent staff, close to the city beach that's quite good
Nothing at all. Parking service. We have to return back from the city to re-park our car because of serviceman mistake, who parked the car. The room was durty, as floor as tables. It was strong smoke smell in the non-smoking room. Air-conditioner didn't work at all. It was too noise from the street.
central location friendliness of staff and car parking available
I was quite impressed with the accommodation. The room was spotless and fresh clean bedding and towels were provided and replaced daily. The reception area and the restaurant (which I used regularly) were light and airy and the hostel had a very positive overall feel. I feel it should be ranked a 3* hotel, rather than a hostel! It was excellent value for money - both the accommodation and the restaurant, and it's well located, with lots of small bars, cafes and restaurants nearby. Tip: catch the airport bus (€2.60) and get off at Plaza Luceros, which is a 5-min walk to hostel (head for Mercado Central) as the street the hostel is on is just behind it. Airport bus took 20mins and, on the way back, just 11mins! (during the morning rush hour!) It could get a little noisy at night and, although I hesitate to say it, the reception staff weren't the friendliest, although they warmed up a little - maybe that's because I stayed 4 nights and they got used to me!
The staff were helpful and the location central. There is a cafe as part of the hotel which also serves food. The bus stop for the airport is 50 yards or so from the hostal. Given the price, 25 euro, I can't have much to complain about and harboured no illusions of palm trees, pools and gyms. Soundproofing isn't the best so you do get to share the joys and traumas of neighbours arrivals/departures etc. If you are looking for scenic views and a bit of pampering I would advise going somewhat more upmarket.
Excellent location, within walking distance to the RENFE station, to the beach/marina etc. Abundance of shops and cafes nearby. The cafeteria downstairs offers good food at reasonable prices. The room smells of smoke although it is supposed to be a non-smoking room. But it's a very common problem in Spain anyway, as many guests will simply open the window and smoke in the room, hence it's not the hotel's fault.
The location was perfect. The service was also fine. People try to do their best. It was very noisy in the night because there is a bar nearby and the local people are celebrating the whole night, all the nights :)
Modest room in the city centre, 24h convenience stores nearby. The receptionist had us sign some lengthy data security agreement written in Spanish “for our own good”. He was yelling at us for two minutes, aggressively urging me to sign, while we were trying to read through the fine print first. Eventually, I signed with “I don’t speak Spanish,” which he apparently didn’t notice. He calmed down immediately and was quite friendly for the rest of our stay.
The staff were incredibly friendly, the room cleaned every day despite the sand and mess we made from the beach, and every service the hotel had promised to provide was provided. At the end of our stay they even made place in the lobby for our many bags, so that we could continue exploring Alicante despite having to check out earlier. A great hotel for its price. Nobody spoke English there (but we had a native Spanish speaker with us) Cold water on the last 2 days (but they were renovating and it was very hot weather!!)
24 hour access. Central. Internet in rooms. No shampoo/gel replaced. No in room coffee making facilities.
Very convenient for me as I go to Alicante to visit friends ( I lived in the city 2005/08) Nothing to dislike
It was so central to everything and was kept clean and tidy every day. None of the staff spoke spoke a word of english.
simple but very clean small hotel in the city centre, nice walking to the beach, close to shops, cafes and restaurants, in the middle of discos and pubs, stuff didnt speak any other language except spanish, little bit noisy in the night but we know this before so it was OK
Clean, basic hotel. Staff kindly called a taxi for me each morning. Quite noisy at the back (rooms 407 & 408) due to kitchens from neighbouring restaurants.
The location of the hotel is excellent, right at the centre of Alicante and within walking distance to the marina, the tram-train stop to Benidorm etc. There are many restaurants and cafes nearby. The toilet/shower is a bit small.
Perfect location - close to old town and beach; rooms with towels, cleaned each day; good acces to the airport; adequate value for money; very helpful staff Staff doesn't speak english at all
I was very satisfied with my staff were very friendly as I spoke in spanish only problem couldnt get internet to work
Great location and friendly staff Room lacked facilities to make a hot drink. I realise this is normal in Spainish hotels but I still miss it.
I asked for the room faced the street. Room was nice and clean, but noisy (receptionist warned me about that before so it was my choice). Friendly staff, central position, very good price.
