Room at back of hotel, overlooking barges and wildlife
The hotel was easy to find and had a relaxed atmosphere. The amenities were well maintained. The hotel was fine however, the mattress was old and uncomfortable.
The friendliness of the staff . .efficiency, local for all good ammentities . .and wonderful food. I stay at the Rendevous very regular . .ie . .once a week . . fortnightly, monthly. depending on my business arrangements. I have always had a very pleasant stay. Thank you.
ideal position for touring the yorkshire dales. adequate car parking, helpful & efficient friendly staff.
rooms were nice and food was excellent.would stay at rendez-vous again
the service from staff was very good, professional and satisfactory the bed in our room was a little soft and due to that and the cold my wife and I have suffered a stiff shoulder, therefore you could maybe update the bed in that room..
Good base for travelling around the Yorkshire Dales. The room was clean and the beds comfortable.
Well organised reception and a super view from the restaurant over the canal and countryside. Spacious clean rooms. Disappointed that the restaurant could not accommodate us for an evening meal during our stay.
The room was large and fairly clean and the location was very good for us. We arrived at 13:50 but had to wait until 14:30 for our room to be prepared for us. The sheets were not changed after our first night. Although the room seemed clean there was an odd smell, maybe from the carpet. The breakfast service was very poor - slow and we had to request a change of tables because of a large stain on the tablecloth.
use the leisure complex.relax in the room. control of shower.too hot
It was a clean friendly hotel central and comfortable one I intend to return to well done None
Pretty location, albeit wasted on a business trip! Food was only okay. Not as good as I would have expected from how the place is marketed.
welcoming, friendly staff and a wonderful location in the Dales our room had the smallest en-suite I have ever used
Lovely room, comfortable bed, well cooked breakfast, welcoming log fire. Internet booking site said Lister Arms was 3.1 miles from Grassington and it turned out to be nearer 10 miles and took about half an hour to get there. Information should be corrected on the internet. My booking confirmation was for £70 per night but was charged £90. However there was no problem in getting a refund but there must be a gremlin in the system.
Good location as a base for walking. Room nicely refurbished in contemporary style but retaining original features/character. Good ensuite with excellent shower. Main bar area is a little tired and unwelcoming however attractive restaurant serving a good selection of well prepared food. Whilst the staff were friendly and helpful they appeared to be understaffed on the evening of our arrival. On the second night we felt rushed through dinner although it was only 9.00pm
The location Poor value for money. The en suite was very cramped. The walls of the room were dirty and the carpet was stained. Not worth nearly £100, even for the location. Not enough staff to cope with demand at evening meal and breakfast. We waited half an hour for a hot drink with our breakfast.
Lovley village great walks nice people None
Pleasant environment; good food; great position for walking in spectacular countryside. Welcome was a bit off putting....kept waiting because computer was down; wasn't sure if booking was in place initially.Staff had to go out for milk for coffee after evening meal!! No hash browns as stated on breakfast menu for two mornings running....no mention made of this until we asked on first morning....black pudding offered as an alternative on second morning!
This hotel is very special and everything is seamlessly faultless. Our only minor criticism is that the bath was quite small and due to the location of the shower screen it was difficult to reach the taps.
The service was fantastic the tennis court is in poor order and in places is dangerous the loose grit beyond the base line could cause an accident
The ambiance of a country house was very pleasant and still quite relaxed and non- stuffy Staff a little stiff at times but still quite helpful
The open log fires, the lovely room, the spa and the service were all excellent. I thought the bar prices were high.
A very peaceful and relaxing stay and a beautiful part of England
The attention to detail was excellent. The staff are all top class. A beautiful place to escape to in beautiful surroundings.
Everything, but it would have been nice to have a choice of another bar with food served. We liked everything
A general attitude of 'wanting to help' from all the staff
Scenic location. Attractive building. Small room and bathroom. Claustrophobic use of dark brown wallpaper. No luggage rack. No trouser press. Iron and board only available on request.
Very relaxing and a welcoming atmosphere. We ate in the Brasserie both nights of our stay and the food and service were excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful and we were very impressed that the head waiter at breakfast knew our names as soon as we appeared both mornings. Our stay was not long enough!!
Clean, modern, good facilities, excellent staff, good food. Evening meal is a little expensive.
Although the complimentary breakfast was good, the refusal to top up two of the hot items was just odd. There was still an hour of breakfast, about 20 people in the dining room and 5 individual people asked and the staff refused to bring out more of two items which have run but brought out more of the other times. Is there a one tin of beans limit??
the staff were pleasant, and the room was clean & comfortable breakfast was more than we expected
Staff friendly and helpful. Evening meal over priced and not particularly good. Would eat elsewhere is stayed again.
Always stay here when we come to visit family in Nelson/Burnley. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Cleanliness is top notch. Breakfast is great - lots of choice. Would def recommend and always return!! Bed was too soft this time not usually though. Also had a dodgy room door that wouldnt automatically close - we had to make sure it was pulled tight. No big deal in the scheme of things!!
The Hotel was very clean and we received a warm welcolme on arrival and checked in with the minimum of fuss to a clean, comfortable and well laid out room. We also enjoyed the food. There were none
Comfortable and functional. Staff were very good Coffee machine not working in main area.
Very friendly and helpful staff Clean Good parking Excellent room Comfy bed Good in room facilities Safe - a night staff protected details of my room number when I had a problem of a key (there was another guest in reception) which I appreciated Excellent value for money None
Best place to stay in Burnley. Have previously stayed at Holiday Inn Express Burnley in Jan 2009. Can not fault the place
Comfortable bed, clean room, fairly quiet. Bed sitting area spacious. No drawers or proper wardrobe. No hanging space for 2 sets of towels. Breakfast poor. Staff did not adhere to environmental standards regarding re-using our towels.
Location Too expensive, tv is very small, there was only 3 or 4 channels available on the tv, the shower was broken, the bill can only be settled by cash or cheque but we were not advised of this until we came to leave and were informed that we could walk half a mile to an atm.
Staff excellent and very friendly. Free WiFi. Decent TV and freeview. All offered for a good price. Room was very cold even with the radiator on full all the time. The windows are old floor to ceiling single pane ones and therefore impossible to try and keep the room warm. No radiator in the en suite meant this was even colder.
Nice area. Good parking. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. n/a
The room was lovely with lots of space and beautiful furniture ~ the bar and dining room have the most fantastic ceilings ~ all in all it was a lovely place to stay ~ and we would recommend it to anyone. Long wait for our breakfast to be cooked on the first morning.
Amazing location and fantastci Victorian features Slightly dated decor although clean and tidy
roooms are all indivualy decorated on this occasion we had 4 poster bed in room n/a
Good location and a beautiful building. We had a ground floor room for the first night, which we found rather dark, although a pleasant room. We were easily moved to a first floor room with super views of Pendle Hill. A lovely large room. The restaurant was most attractive, with a reasonably priced menu. Good food and friendly helpful staff.
It was quiet and had the feel of a small guest house, but with far more facilities. A pleasant environment, i liked the secluded feel to the place. Compared with many other places i thought it was very fair value, in spite of some cheap and nasty room fitments. Breakfast was very good, and promptly served even when the place was very busy. The shower in the ensuite bathroom was dire, well out of date and the shower door was broken and would not close properly. Overall, they seemed to use cheap and easily breakable fitments in the room.
To be honest it served the freshest breakfast I have ever had and I have travelled a lot over the years. Not very extensive in choice but if you like English breakfast it could not have been better.
Staff freindly and welcomeing, room clean and well equiped, food excellant. None
Nice & peacefull. The room was cold so requested an additional heater. Although it was summer, Hotels should ensure that the rooms are warm when you arrive.
Food very good, staff excellent, friendly Room rather cold, television not in good position.
The location, of course, and the genuinely helpful staff
Food was not enjoyable and the staff on duty for the evening meal were grumpy. Too many supplement prices on the menu.
Food was nice Very dated decor and terrible shower, no water pressure and no hot water for an evening shower.
The hotels location is very good and we particularly enjoyed the food which was excellent. Unfortunately the room was only average even though there were few other guests at the time of our stay. The room was dissapointing and insufficiently heated at a vey cold time. Room comfort is essential for the time of year.
good size room good breakfast staff and breakfast had a very cold shower
food fantastic, staff brilliant room neds freshening up, a l;ittle drab, but didnt spoil our stay
very small and cramped room, restaurant staff were inexperienced
The hotel is a grand old bulding in a lovely location. Staff work hard to please. The Falcon is tired and needs a facelift. Its staff also seem tired! and work hard to provide a decent service but seem to be struggling. Restaurant service was poor; dinner cuisine was average. our experience was lifted by being allocated a handsome and spacious four-poster bedroom at regular rate which made our stay enjoyable above all!
The whole of our stay was excellent. The owners and staff made us feel very welcome. The meals and accomodation were first class. We look forward to staying again.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a disappointment compared with previous visits.
Pleasant bar and restaurant Spiders in the bathroom. Very cramped room for 2 people Long up and down stairs trek to the room until we found a shorter route via the restaurant. Very noisy plumbing woke us up at 5am
Relaxed and excellent food
Very nice hotel given the area. The original house has been restored to a high standard which gives a feeling of staying at an expensive country house hotel. All the bedrooms are contained in a purpose built annex with modern facilities and it was quiet overnight. Easy to find and only 5 mins from nearest main road junction. Very good breakfast but if not included in the room rate was £14.95 per head which is expensive. Nice lady in charge - pity she could not oversee the evening service as well. We stayed on a Monday and ate in the resturant as there is nothing else much locally that looked worth a visit. Menu - both a la Carte and Table d`hote - offered a good selection. Our evening was let down by haphazard service. All the waitresses were friendly and helpful but it lacked a Maitre D` and/or some basic management. This also applies to the bar. Its just a bit amateurish which is a pity given the cost of staying there and the general ambience of the hotel which is rather pleasant. Our room also needed a bit of TLC. The loo seat hinges were loose and the shower head needed cleaning or replacing. Our room looked like it was last given a makeover about 10 years ago but it was comfortable in a slightly old fashioned way. Rooms a good trek from reception, bar, resturant etc. Also lots of staircases up and down. My wife got lost every time but it would be interesting to see what the hotels policy is if you were disabled or had young children/prams etc as we did not see any lifts. I assume that there are bedrooms at ground level so its worth asking when booking.
The room was great and well equipped and decorated nicely but got very cold at night ad the bed wasn't very big at all. It wasn't a full double. The main restaurants food at night was extremely fancy and didn't have any less fancy options. The area around the hotel was ok for a night away but not for sigjtseeing. The hotel staff were very robotic when speaking to you and some were even rude. I paid £90 for one night and was disappointed with overall service.
We loved the room. The bed was a four poster bed and we had a warm and very comfortable heater in the room. The food and service was excellent, the staircase and stained glass windows were stunning and everywhere we wanted to go for shopping etc was very close. More people should be enjoying this beautiful hotel. We loved everything. There was nothing the staff wouldn't do for us as far as service and directions to different venues.
The staff were very friendly and helped with restaurants and travel arrangements etc.
The hotel had a nice ambience and some impressive features. The room was comfortable and quiet. My wife particularly liked the Lavender spray for the pillows which did contribute to a good nights slweep. There are a lot of stairs to negotiate yo get to the room.
The staff were always extremely friendly and helpful. Being a Vegetarian it can often be a problem to get a good choice of food, but I was pleasantly surprised when almost any request for a variation of the menu was met with no fuss at all. We had an issue with the rooms, however, after changing twice we were very satisfied with our room. Yet again the staff were very obliging and we did not feel that we were a nuisance (well I hope not anyway).
leaving The lack of sleep due to the room being next to the function room. The breakfast you cheap, cold and took over 25 mins to arrive, staff did not care at all. Lack of any kind of staff interaction, had to ask for everything, nothing ever offewred. The room was very old, the roof in the bathroom had no paint on it, all peeled off. Not worth £85 for the stay. Letter of complaint written, no response.
Its location was just what I wanted, being in the middle of the village and it offered car parking. The pub is old fashioned and had some wonderful features, it also had a nice bar with real ales which is something that I would look for in similar establishments. The room was available on our arrival which was also a bonus as we did arrive early. The food was nice and we ate in a nice dinning room away from the other side of the pub, it was warm, private, quiet also an added bonus. Otherwise there was the bar area which had a nice fire but was a bit busy if you wanted a quiet meal. The food itself was good, served well and hot, overall enjoyable and good value meal. The breakfast was also good, not over the top but ample for the type of acc It was a noisy hotel, when someone else showered the noise from the extractor or pump was really loud and would have woken anyone up; it was almost like a compressor. The noise from the bar at night was also quite loud, with some bad language (not good for young children) which could be heard in the early hours of the morning in the courtyard. I do realise that this is a country pub so its kind of to be expected in a way as the pub is in the centre of a village and its used well be the locals who keep it open. I did mention the noise from the showers and the courtyard to the manager who did agree with me about the noise, saying that he had also struggled to sleep a little but did say that he had a meeting with a senior executive.
the hot toddies and the lovely open fire. The breakfast and the service were top class. The friendly and helpful staff.
