Super friendly staff and truly historic digs
Character, old world, charming. It has a good vibe. Restaurant upstairs is excellent with good selection of wine. Walking distance to Berkeley shops and other really good restaurants.
The rooms were a wee bit small but comfortable. This is a very old building and built as a place of safe stay for women. There is parking but adds 20 bucks a day to your stay -not unusual.
Hotel with a view and all downhill from there
The view of San Francisco was really nice from our room. That's the only plus I can talk about this place.
Everything else. For a 3 star hotel at a premium price, it was disappointing. While the beds seemed clean, they squeaked and creaked like they were from 20+ years old. The rugs where filthy looking with stains. And don't try using the advertised pool, where you first have to sign up for an available time slot and enforced to swim laps only. The breakfast, well, if you like bagels and cereal it'll do, but overall disappointing location. Absolutely would never stay here again.
The Berkeley City Club offers modern accommodations in a vintage building, with beautiful views of the surrounding city. The hotel features a hair salon and skincare studio, along with a restaurant for guest dining. There is a bar and lounge, as well. Guests can enjoy the heated indoor swimming pool and lounge area and there are a variety of meeting and event rooms for various special occasions, meetings, and events. The hotel staff is ready to assist guests with sightseeing recommendations and other services.
The hotel provides complimentary breakfast for all guests and complimentary hotel-wide WiFI. This unique property also hosts the Loggia Art Exhibit and Central Works Theatre, offering plenty of entertainment for guests. Membership privileges are available and on-site parking is available for all overnight guests and club members. All of the 38 guest rooms are decorated with vintage items, offering a time-honored space that includes elegant furniture and plush bedding for guest comfort. Rooms include a phone, premium bedding, a sitting area or chair, and a private bathroom with complimentary toiletries.
Self-service laundry facilities are available for guest use at the Berkeley City Club, which offers 38 guest rooms and suites. This boutique hotel is a non-smoking property. There is a 24-hour business center and a garden for guest enjoyment. The hotel front desk is open 24 hours a day and there is a front desk safe. The hotel also offers a public computer station for guest use and complimentary coffee and tea are available in the lobby.
