Pros: We liked everything about the property and James who was brilliant room was very big and comfortable great location
Cons: n/a
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our hosts thought of every detail. If you wanted water, tea, coffee, beer, a snack, fruit, cookies or anything, they had it readily available. You could use the kitchen, the laundry facilities, a heater for your room and the iron. The place is in a great location and so very beautiful, clean and comfortable. We stayed at several B& B's on our two-week vacation and this was by far our favorite one!!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Veruit clean, quiet and charming location. The host was very helpfull. Excellent breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly welcoming and helpful hosts made our stay very enjoyable. Fantastic breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic in every way beautiful location super friendly hosts
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Not even sure where to begin! Maybe breakfast was my favourite part... It was absolutely amazing! I have always found it problematic to organise vegan options so usually I don't even bother requesting it and just hope for some margarine and bread. But James' breakfast offered the widest range of vegan options, actually, a far greater selection than in my own household haha! On top of the perfect meal there is a fully equipped kitchen available for those who wish to cook during their stay! It's perfect for refueling when spending some time in the country. Although our visit this time wasn't about hiking in the countryside. We attended the Fly Open Air festival and couldn't have picked a better place to stay! It was a 5 minute walk from the entrance, and James prepared a treasure map showing how to get there. It was dead convenient to walk through through the fields at the end, while everybody else was queuing for the overcrowded buses to get back to Edinburgh. We were fast asleep in the comfiest bed by the time people got home. When checking out next morning, James also offered to give us a ride to the train station given that taxis were super busy with the festival goers. I wish we had stayed for another couple of days to fully enjoy what Parkhead House has to offer. Unfortunately, we never had the chance to meet Angela (the wifey), but James is an excellent chat, very entertaining and also informative when it comes to local knowledge, so I can only imagine her being just as endearing. He's great with guests and genuinely interested in people. I wish I was a bit more like him haha! I am sure we will be back soon, thanks for everything!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We travelled to attend a wedding anniversary, and chose Parkhead House largely because of the "Dog Friendly" description, It certainly was! All other aspects were excellent. A very enjoyable stay and we would certainly hope to return.
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Harris Room that we stayed in was great for me and my 14 year old son as he had his own space but still close enough to feel safe (would have been made better if when locked from inside I could gain access with a key) The private bathroom was a great addition to both rooms. The beds are sooooooo comfortable and the whole property is dog friendly, my dogs enjoyed the break as much as we did.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: James was wonderful. Flexible with check in times, made breakfast early. We stayed one night early in the trip and our last night. At breakfast the first time he asked if we needed any condiments and I asked for hot sauce which he didn’t have, but by the time we stayed again he had gone out and bought hot sauce! Location was beautiful and peaceful, though a little too far from Edinburgh to allow us to spend as much time in the city as we would have liked, but that was a misjudgment on our part.
Cons: Shower water pressure was too low to easily wash my hair. It got a little warmer than average when we were staying and the room was a little hot since we couldn’t open the windows and there was no AC (that we were aware of).
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Loved the host. Most helpful I’ve met. Loved the snacks provided. Beautiful location. Liked that washcloths were provided along with the towels.
Cons: Water pressure in the shower was too low to wash my long hair.

Cons: Expensive time of year due to the fringe festival

Pros: Great location. Rooms very comfortable and spacious. It’s our 2nd time staying here. It was my son’s Birthday and the staff had signed a card and left him some jellybeans which he was very happy about. We will be back! All staff helpful and friendly, thank you!
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff was great! Wine and coffee in the lobby? Bonus! For a single traveler this was the perfect hotel. Having a small stove, fridge, and kettle in the room with all the necessary amenities to prepare some food for yourself is a nice luxury on a longer trip. For more than one person the room might have been a little small.

The Balmoral Hotel - Edinburgh - Bedroom
4
9.3 Excellent (2,662 reviews)
Overview Reviews
The British Isles is a repository for so much culture and the people all provide a great window onto one of the great countries in the world. A massive contributor to British culture is Scotland, and the city of Edinburgh is its biggest city. When you stay in Edinburgh, you experience all the great Scottish traditions including the architecture, food, and of course, the kilts. Staying in Edinburgh means finding a great hotel, one of which is the Balmoral Hotel. The Balmoral Hotel is all about providing travelers with some impressively luxurious accommodations. The best part about the hotel is the location. There are so many places to see in Edinburgh and the hotel is right in the middle of all of them. With rooms that are luxuriously appointed and a staff that is dedicated to service, you’ll feel as if you’re the only guest in the hotel. With a pool and spa on the premises, it is extremely easy to relax. Scottish cuisine is one of the great understated pleasures of any trip. In Edinburgh, it is done right. There are plenty of great places to eat within walking distance of the hotel. However, the Balmoral does offer some in-house dining that will make you think twice about heading out to eat. Number One and Brasserie Prince by Alain Roux are two excellent restaurants to go along with the bars and lounges in the hotel. Edinburgh is a great place the visit, and staying at the Balmoral Hotel is a great choice for rooms.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Zoltan at reception was a star. The restaurant and bar team were efficient and friendly. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Looking forward to our next visit
5.7 Okay
Pros: I told them I am severely asthmatic. When I walked into the room I immediately smelled musty old rug that was cleaned at least dozens of times and exhausted its useful life a long time ago. I went back to the front desk and told them needed a different room for medical reasons and willing to pay more. The front desk person and the day manager told me that they did not have availability without any serious they said no without any consideration and force me to sleep in this room where I ended up wheezing all night. They also lied to me that all the rooms were renovated at the same time and were the same. And it turns out that there were at least a few rooms available.
Cons: The front desk staff should care about the wellbeing of their customers. Poorly trained and inconsiderate.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The Number One was a tremendous experience. The hotel and restaurant staff could not have been better during our stay. I would simply say keep it up!
9.5 Excellent

As a solo traveller it was great having a fridge and microwave in my room so that I could make my own tea and relax in my room after a busy day. It really felt like home from home.
Cons: The property was very clean and I had everything that I needed. One small suggestion might be to have a none slip mat in the shower as found it quite slippy at times.

Pros: The room was massive, had the best cotton sheets/towels, and was absolutely spotlessly clean! En suite shower room had the best of fittings! If I was designing a room/en suite I would copy this room. Automatic lights in the wardrobe, oak doors etc etc!

Pros: The shower could fit about 10 people in it! The bedroom had aircon. which was great with the warm weather we're having. Nice and clean!
Cons: It took us a while to figure out how to turn the back light off from around the T.V. - We didn't find the switch until the morning, so had all the lights off with the door control. Doh!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was fine. Location almost put me off choosing that particular hotel but the interior was very pleasing.
Cons: A smile goes a long way to make people feel welcomed.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, excellent service, friendly and professional, very good breakfast. Comfortable furniture. Spacious modern bathroom.
Cons: The room was not very spacious, the view was not awesome. The hotel is situated near North Bridge, quite a busy and not so attractive street to reach the Royal Mile.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel was in an excellent location in a quiet area of Edinburgh, but within walking distance of main attractions and shops.. Beautiful bedroom and bathroom. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Fully recommend.
Cons: Breakfast was very expensive, so we ate at a local cafe.
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, the team here cannot do enough for guests and the location is great.
Cons: I love staying here, there is nothing to dislike, except one of the lifts is still out of action and I have yet to find the stairs, found the fire escape.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Our room and the hotel itself was very clean. Check in was a breeze. I would definitely recommend it.
Cons: During our 3 night stay, I called each day twice to request a straightener and they never had one. It worked out fine, but it was offered on the card in the room. I was hoping there would be at least one day I could use it. Otherwise, great stay.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Breakfast was GREAT and we loved speaking with Emily Lambert both mornings.
Cons: The elevator was not working and the luggage was very heavy. We were on the 3rd floor and I think we should have had someone take this to our room.. I also did not like the trail to visit Mary Queen of Scots surrender. The path was not marked well and we had differing stories from the staff on how to get there. Very disappointed.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Huge room
Cons: Place a bit tired looking , needs some work on the interior.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Excellent cooked breakfast, best I've ever had! Bed really comfy had a brilliant sleep and the bath in the room made it extra romantic. Staff pleasant and courteous, can't wait to return.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Has lots of nice extras like cafetieres in the room and nice toilettries and top notch tea and biscuits. Breakfast is lovely and the whole hotel has a nice ambience. The bar is even open 24/7 for hotel guests.
Cons: The single rooms are tiny, could barely fit my luggage in. The cleaner did not replace my shower gel when she cleaned the room. It could be noisy if other residents were noisy as not great sound proofing. But I was lucky as noone made a noise. Overall I really enjoyed it. Get a non single room if you can as much nicer.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing. The chef is creative and provides a HUGE portion of delicious Scottish food. Location was quiet and the owner goes completely out of her way to make everything perfect. I loved it.
Cons: Parking...not their fault though. Big City circumstances.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel, with attention to detail and proactive staff. Smooth check in. Nice to be able to relax with a drink in the garden. A big plus that they use metal, eco-friendly straws. Lovely rain shower and toiletries.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: My room was comfortable and spacious, and even had views of the Firth! I really liked the hotel's location as it was a bit tucked away from the hectic central areas; it was very quiet and peaceful. The breakfast was also great!
Cons: Guests should note that it's a stairs-only type of accommodation. The staff helped carry my luggage up, though, so that helped a lot.

Cons: Can't think of anything
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location and an excellent facility with wonderful amenities.
Cons: A larger seating area in the lobby area or j back. But really no complaints.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was superb, right on the Royal Mile. The car park,(attached to the hotel), was full upon arrival, however I was allowed to park in a reserved spot, and move my car later when a space became available.
Cons: The breakfast got cold very quickly, possibly due to the air conditioning in the breakfast room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and simply excellent. Perfect location and very helpful and smiling personnel.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The water pressure in the shower was amazing. The bed was super comfy
Cons: Nil
6.5 Good
Pros: Spacious suite living room, separate half guest bath, Decent breakfast with separate order menu, gym had free weights to 30kg, location is on royal mile down road from castle (but for Christmas markets and shopping, a princess street hotel would been better), overall friendly staff.
Cons: 1. For a royal mile suite, main bathroom was standard. Overly spacious living room really could’ve spared space for a more comfortable bathroom befitting suite. 2. Website advertised kids eat free. However, when we ordered meals for the kids via room service, we were told it’s not free. Extremely deceptive and off putting of brand. 3. I emailed the hotel 1 week in advance of 4-day stay and asked for milk, orange juice, and water in room stocked and included room mini fridge. Email from customer service acknowledged request and even confirmed we still wanted wine and beer - a nice catch! However, when we arrived, we were informed juice and milk not included. False service promise should’ve not been made. Room service food was Not worth price (pizza, burger, and kids chicken meal were only ok but far more expensive than eaterery options all around).
7.5 Good
Pros: The breakfast not great ,potato scones were always dry and hard the eggs over cooked fried or scrambled. poorly grilled tomatoes and mushrooms boiled. cant speak regarding meat products as I do not eat meat. I understand its buffet and volume cooking but more attention to freshness by less quantity being prepared and refreshed more regular would eliminate some problems. Would have preferred pancakes pre made, the machine was very slow when working and did not produce great quality pancakes. Service was quick and good staff were very pleasant and efficient.
Cons: The breakfast could be better.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Situation of the hotel is really excellent - rooms were great and very clean.
Cons: Receptionist slight touch of snobby - entrance from parking looks a bit shaby.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: So central for the fringe -even shows in the hotel. Very comfortable. Helpful staff.
Cons: The bar closed early
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very large room, nice quiet location at rear of hotel. Breakfast was of a high standard, service excellent, second day even packed me a breakfast pack to take on my tour. Location was very good, close to everything, walking distance to station, right on the Royal mile.
Cons: Nothing, everything was catered to a very high standard.

7.5 Good
Pros: Love that full breakfast is available in room and you just pay the tray charge (if breakfast is already included in your rate). Upgraded (paid offer) to a duplex deluxe - so worth it.
Cons: Felt sorry for reception, really tight and congested with piles of baggage to take care of in view behind the front desk (damaging interior design and walls). Appreciate it's an historic building but steps leading up to elevator foyer really not helpful. Whole lobby area could do with a revamp so that it becomes guest (and staff) centric not process centric.

Pros: Breakfast options were good - a wide variety of choice. The room was nice and spacious (but I did take an upgrade to a Georgian room). Staff were very friendly.
