Welcoming, convenient and comfortable. Our room needed an extra easy chair.
Staff very helpful on my brief stay Bed mattress and pillows a little lumpy
central, good parking, plenty of local information maps etc.available, very helpful & courteous staff, extensive choice for breakfast.
Within a one hour drive of Southampton. Parking available in front if you can squeeze your car in (we did successfully). Several restaurants are a short walk away. The room and the bathroom were comfortable and functional. The breakfast cost extra but was worth the money. Not the best English breakfast, but it wasn't bad either. Internet was solid. Watch for the cattle grates leading out of the property that keep the loose donkeys away. They have signs posted, but they are not where they should be to alert those on foot. The ceilings are low in entry ways; those 5'10 and above should duck everywhere (except in the room).
The staff were very welcoming and the hotel was charming. Breakfast was fantastic. I loved all of it.
Very warm welcome, superb breakfast menu. spotless accomodation, very well managed no
From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a smiling face and a pot of tea and coffee along with slices of cake. We were more than happy with the accommodation and would recommend it to our friends and family. Hope to make a return visit later in the year.
We liked the warm welcome, very trusting with ongoing friendly and helpful hospitality. The room was excellent with everything provided that you would expect and more including our loverly little plot of garden we got with it. Staff where full of useful and historic information about The New Forest and you can tell they work really hard to provide the most local of produce, N/A
Extremely personal service - welcome with tea/coffee and home made cake (free throughout the stay whenever needed). Good information and reviews about where to eat, also walks/maps for exploring. Breakfast was locally sourced as far as possible and fairtrade if not, plus in the 'snug' local beverages available. Free posh toiletries and cotton buds/cotton wool balls/tissures in room.
Having attended a wedding at Rhinefield Hotel your B/B was close to the location. Staff were excellent and the breakfast was superb Nothing not to like, but just one thing a light above the mirror in the bedroom area would improve the lighting
the hotel was outstanding, the pictures on your site made me book this hotel, but i was still amazed when we saw it for real. to stay somewhere like this is probably a once in a life time thing for me and my wife, and we're very glad we picked Rhinefield House. very highly recommended!
the staff were brilliant: friendly, polite, efficient the breakfast was excellent though there was a shortage of marmalade: and thank you for producing gluten free toast, much appreciated. We also enjoyed the stunning New Forest location. bar lounge, outdoor swimming pool 9/10 (sign posting could be better) the New Forest setting was inspirational the bedroom and bathroom were cramped and stuffy the partitioning walls were very thin and didn't exclude noise from our neighbours' radio/TV the indoor swimming pool was minute
The location is fabulous and the building is beautiful. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good quality. I didn't dislike the pool but thought it was very small for such a good quality hotel.
bedroom too hot to sleep.
The food was excellent, and the room and lounge/dining areas were all of a very high standard. The only disappointment was that the health club facility was out of commission for two out of our three day stay there, but the manager was gracious enough to provide some compensation for this absence.the staff were all exceptionally helpful and the atmosphere was one of welcome, comfort and 'can do'
Everything from the location, look, facilities, food and ambiance of this hotel are superb. WE had a great time & will be going back soon.
Beautiful room, spacious and modern, beautiful hotel in gorgeous setting. The best thing? The only hotel I have ever stayed in that provided hair conditioner so the thumbs up from me! Bed a bit hard
The Rhinefield provides everything a four star country manor hotel should do.All of the staff are first class in all respects and really helped us enjoy our stay. The hotel itself is set deep in the New forest and provides an excellent base for touring the neighbouring countryside. The food is the most modern of modern cuisine served in a beautiful dining room.
Tranquil surroundings/peaceful atmosphere within the hotel/good size well appointed rooms/ imposing building with elegant gardens Cooked traditional breakfast somewhat meagre and did not appear to be "fresh"/ Dining Room cool - we sat by fireplace
The beautiful setting and grounds and the very large plasma TV in the room
A place of relaxation and unintrusive but caring staff
The staff were superb, very friendly and professional. Our room was large and opened out to the garden Although the food was of a very high standard , the complimentary soup was tepid as was my stater and also it alll came way too fast
Spa facilities, comfort and excellent Thai resturant.
Lovely spa facilities :o)
All the staff and managment were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much for them. The restaurants were all (three of them) excellent, including the atmosphere and the food and the service and the staff were all excellent. The Spa was also excellent. It is expensive, but for a luxury treat in real comfort, you can't beat it. Nothing at all, it was all excellent - except paying for it!
The use of the spa area
Spa facilties were excellent. Friendly and helpful staff. Interesting gardens. Plenty of room to sit quietly with family anfd friends.
Please write at least 15 words friendly, helpful staff. comfortable room exellent location, good choice of restauirants, and superb spa facilities Nothing
The peace and tranquility Friendliness of staff Helpfulness no
The Staff and facilities are all excellent. Three different styles of Restaurant on site all producing very good standard of food. Bedrooms are well furnished and the Oakwood style of room was large enough to accomodate a lounge area. Difficult to book times in the Restaurants that you require, even 24 hours in advance. This is not mentioned in any literature.
As a single female away on business, I felt very comfortable and at ease Liked everything
Excellent service from Joseph and the catering / bar staff -- good food
The pool/gym area (although small) was very clean. The smoking in the bar was very off putting - most hotels are already operating the no smoking rule - there was no sitting area in the bar/lounge for non smokers. Management under estimated the number of guest for breakfast. This time was stressful for your staff and residents. Both days coffee and toat took 20 mins to arrive, on Sunday our order was given to another table after a long wait, and then 10 mins later the waiter brought it again!! Not enough patries, the breakfast manager inform us it would be 5 mins, after asking gaing twice they arrived as we were leaving the breakfast room! Not everyone want an english breakfast (I didn't) but I didn't expect to have to wait for toast or pastries to arrive - sorry guys you really need to imporve in this area. See above - also spoke to the receptinist on departure and completed a guest survey.
General atmosphere, calm, very good bed, friendlyness
it was a lovely hotel in a wonderful location. there was a large gap at the bottom of the door, the light from the hall way was on all night and the light camed into thre room which made it difficult for myself and my son to sleep. we could also hear noises from outside because of the gap which impacted our sleep
Service was first class from everyone. Beautiful location easy access for woodland walks and close to the coast. Lots to do and see.
everything was perfect for a relaxing stay, staff were superb, food was great nothing - everything was fine
Relaxed surroundings, plenty of information given at check-in, very helpful staff Bar meals were not as printed on the menu and didn't represent particularly good value for money. Room was dated and service at breakfast was poor.
Definetly not a 4 star hotel - I have stayed in much better Room was not ready on arrival. Chair in room was missing castors, TV - a flat screen would be better with access to some SKY eg news channel.
Enjoyable stay for the night, wished we're booked for another night. So much to see and do in the \new Forest
Nice location, charming ambience Very poor food in Monty's the adjoining restaurant
Superb location, excellent staff (friendly and attentive), wonderful atmosphere, great food
Friendly, quiet, nice decor very comfortable. I thought the food in the bistro was not as good as it could have been. It would have been good if breakfast started aty 6.30 am.
The warm welcoming staff and the cosy room.
The staff were friendly and service was fantastic.food was well worth a visit
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was lovely and the service great. Would definitely recommend it
Nice relaxing with excellent food Staff very helpful and took trouble to assist at all times Romm was next to road, and lorries making delivereies parked outside window
Hotel fantastic. Very Romantic Room was a little hot.
It was a treat to stay at The Montegu Arms - the staff couldn't have been more attentive and helpful. Cetainly the dinner we shared with friends who had come over with us to attend the same function (the installation of the new Vicar of Beaulieu) was a real high point of the visit. I must make special mention of the receptionist at the Hotel who was excellent in every way. Not being able to stay longer! That was a real disappointment as the waether was so good and the surroundings so congenial.
The friendliness and professionalism of the staff. The comfort and attention to detail in our room and the food.
A great hotel would go back in the future lovely breaksfast a great location for shopping The smoke alarm going off at 3.30 am in the am by a person who was smoking where they shouldnt have been !! hope they got fined
Location. Central for Southampton and the University area The rooms were cold as background heating kept at 14 degrees celsius when no one in room and took a long time to heat up.
Fresh, clean, nicely decorated and good range of breakfast items. A warm bedroom and very clean bathroom. We were surprise that there was a limited choice of drinks in the room and no biscuits
easy to find and to use the restaurant at night offer a poor menu
The location was very handy for us.
all of my stay no english breakfast
Very expensive for an "overnight" hotel
Everything was OK, friendly staff, i was a bit surpriced, hotel s located near M27 motorway, but room was very quiet.Restaurant was also OK, i missed full english brekafast and more food in menu
Breakfast : Polite and helpful staff Restaurant in hotel could have been more seperate from lounge area No other restaurant close by
Lovely setting, quietm relaxed, nice restaurant and bar. The fact that the hotel claimed not to have received our booking for 2 nights stay from www.bookingcom and that we haven't yet had a reply to the email we sent you.
Excellent location, comfortable room, nice staff No really bad points but improvements could be made in the length of time waiting for food at evening and breakfast
The comfort of the hotel the food, the peaceful and beautiful surroundings. It was a pity that the bar and restaurant staff were not more smartly dressed.
Tv never worked inspite of complaint to Reception. Well advertised log fires poor. Advanced booking but bill showed a £20 increase with no explanation, receptionist agreed with my printed confirmation and amenced bill. Restaurant stated soup of day was parsnip but produced tomatoe, and famous fish and chips turned out to be a spagettii dish.
Extremely relaxing, beautiful hotel, very good service and food, can't wait to go back in February. Nothing to dislike for us.
This hotel was exceptional - architecture, setting, service and food were perfect. The staff were of the highest calibre and could not have been more helpful and welcoming. Management deserve special mention for managing in a way that was extremely efficient yet unobtrusive. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough - we had booked in initially for 2 nights but we actually stayed 7 nights! None!
A quiet area in one of the most picturesque parts of England. The historical site was extremely interesting with lovely walks Nothing
Helpful staff, cleanleness of rooms, beautiful position, great value for money None
Very pleasant staff, good surroundings and views, good food in the restaurant (though a little pricey). From a business point of view, an 8 o'clock breakfast is a bit late, an earlier breakfast option would be welcome.
Excellent breakfast included, nice bar First room had (147) some intermittent mechanical noise but I requested move and they complied
We have now stayed twice at hotel and have found staff helpful and atmosphere very relaxing n/a
Really good location for West Quay shopping Only grip was that the pillows were really hard and uncomfortable
The whole experience - staff - accommodation - food N o
the view from our window the breakfast wasnt as good as i expected, no pancakes!
No Air Con in room only a broken floor standing fan.
The high standard of service
Noisy bar area with leaking roof
Staff were charming and very helpful. Location fantastic and bar extensive Hotel is a bit dated and not worthy of 5 star
very pleased with all areas of the hotel ,i have no complaints at all.
Room was large, well appointed and clean. More than I needed for the night, but recommended to me and with a late arrival I preferred a traditional hotel. No breakfast or coffee.
Location, leisure facilities Being woken by cleaners moaning about other cleaners not doing there job very loud
food in the restraunt was fantastic, staf were very friendly
Friendly informative staff, excellent breakfast, unique design of bedroom, bathroom and lighting Bedroom was too warm at night. difficult to open windows and would have been noisy
The exercise room is fantastic and so are the people. The breakfast was amazing, clean, and hot. Need to replace the carpeting on floor 4. The bathrooms are new. the furniture in good shape, but the carpeting is horrible.
Good breakfast Uncomfortable beds. No decent tv. Swimming pool out of use. Small rooms.
the rooms were a good size and warm. there were no hand towels or wash cloths in room.
Friendly and helpful staff Soiled clothing items from a previous guest left in the room.
Convenient for cruise Paying for car park
adam was very helpful breakfast price too high
Good location nice gym and small pool a good hotel for business or leisure.I was however charged twice on my credit card and this was resolved by the management Food was expensive considering the local restaurants that were available in the area. GBP13.50 for breakfast seems on the high side when the IBIS Hotel was half of that price
ony the above, rudeness of a member of staff
all staff were friendly, professional, smart, polite and helpful. The whole hotel was extremely fresh and clean.
Excellent location for new forest trip and excellent food.
Room was reasonably big, breakfast was nice. Staff was very friendly. Very good location. It was, in lack of a better word, very ordinary. Some noise from nearby road, though not too disturbing.
Dinner was very good. Parking area was a mess. Staff serving in restaurant were doing so with shirts not tucked into their trousers properly. Untidy !! Hotel backdoor entrance ( only one available ) gives impression of backpackers' hotel. Entrance carpets were dirty. On arrival I was asked by the lady- receptionist to pay. I gave the £ 90 in cash with request to remove my credit card details from file on front desk. This was refused with reference to a story that there are people sneaking out of the hotel at 5 am without paying. The person called Danni (?)went away three times to call the manager, who never turned up. Having suffered theft from my credit card once before ( £5,800 ) I prefer to pay cash. Inflexible/hostile attitude of Dani was not appreciated.
Very good service
The breakfast was first class and its nice to find someone who makes scrabbled eggs just right... The meanness of the towels in the bathroom - too small and thin - big and fluffy should be the target
Second visit and breakfast still good This time different room. Most uncomfortable mattress, no remote control for TV and no blind in bathroom window overlooking car park!
The Beaulie inn next door 1. breakfast was poor, dinner overpriced, garden rooms are garagesfacing the mainline and thin walls, everyone can hear everyone, no AC in the rooms, old appliances, peeling walls inthe shower, no water pressure in the shower
The food was excellent, service very good. We booked on a Sunday because your site said that functions were only on Friday/Saturdays. We were disappointed to find that there was a function on the Sunday of our visit, which was very noisy until at least midnight.
We were very pleased with the facilities and all the staff were very friendly and courteous. The food was excellent and I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this area. No
Car parking was poor. Only just enongh spaces
close to the red jet and cruise ports and good food T.V did'nt work, very hot in the room, no room service just a few things that if put right would make an excellant hotel
Staff were friendly, good having restaurant underneath the hotel. We arrived late so this worked out very well. Think that breakfast should be included within the rate charged for the room.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The noise from traffic during the night
room decorated very nicelly with luxury touches in a very nice refubrished 19 century wearhouse. Very nice coffee maker in the room, comfortable bed and the Italian food at the restaurant was great the hotel is part of a restaurant downstairs and have no proper lobby, looks more like a pub with rooms upstairs. The room was very hot but a very noisy fan provided. People coming from the restaurant stayed talking laudly and smoking under my room window until late hours, not ideal if you have to wake up earlier next day. Wireless internet did not work .
Very nice decor Much to noicy - My room was right above a very busy street
Well appointed room with modern decor. Spacious bathroom with good shower. Liked the finishing touches of bathrobes and slippers. All staff polite and attentive and would definetely stay again at the reduced rate of £100 per night. Had lunch in the restaurant and it was very good. Would recommend. Liked everything! Having Stayed in Southampton hotels before (but not this one) I think other hotelliers could learn from these standards of comfort and cleanliness. Perhaps price could include continental breakfast.
Excellent location for transit to cruise ships, rooms well presented, food of a high standard, staff relations good.
This hotel and the rooms are very nicely decorated. The beds are super comfortable. The bathroom design very well thought out. The staff is professional and very gracious. We were very pleasantly surprised upon checking-in and would not hesitate to return. The only negative would be the lack of air conditioning and our stay was during a "heat wave".
Smart modern rooms - very helpful staff - excellent food in restaurant Nothing - it was spot on
Friendly staff, clean and cosy rooms, good breakfast in lovely restaurant.
I most enjoyed the hospitality of the owners. I got a bigger room than that I'd booked. Nice restaurant and also nice breakfast.
Excellent Inn, with superb rooms, and the best pub food we have ever found. Good and helpful staff Bed a little soft.
Friendly and helpful staff. Very pleasant location with excellent pub attached for a quiet drink and also for dinner. Good pub food for the price and good beer. Rooms very comfortable and nicely decorated, also quite spacious. Room temeperature was perfect (although it was possible for guests to adjust it if necessary) - we were there in November. The included breakfast was excellent - a very good choice of traditional cooked food (including vegetarian) as well as pastries, cereals etc. My wife and I definitely plan to return for a longer stay. Very little, if anything, to complain about. The vegetarian dish that my wife ordered for dinner was a bit bland, but there were at least two other vegetarian dishes on the menu which may well have been better.
Food was excellent. Staff were friendly and very efficient. Room was a very high standard and price was reasonable. No bad points
Excellent facilities, staff. Short stay but most enjoyable and will recommend to others
Good location for new forest area and we found the room excellent. all the staff were very pleasant . Food we found was too heavy with sauces but that was a personal choice. Would definitely use the Inn again when in the area
As described- lovely rooms, friendly service, well located. None
room, staff food nothing
Food and menu choice was excellent and staff very attentive and helpfull. Fullers Hotel so beer choice very good. Large room so not crampted.
A very nice relaxed hotel with excellent parking facilities.
I worked at the Crown as a receptionist 28 years ago and met my husband their on a cricket tour and it was good to see it had not changed hardly at all.
the atmosphere , the comfort , the cleanliness, just about everything , oh....and the beer! nothing.
decent size lounge for residents ( avoiding the rain Rooms at the front of the hotel adjacent to the road were noisy
The food was absolutely excellent. From breakfast to dinner, the food was very well cooked and very well prepared. The catering and waiting staff were all very well mannered especially at dinner. The room was a bit shabby with wallpaper being stuck back on the wall, paint flaking on the ceiling and in the bath! I was a bit disappointed with that but overall I enjoyed my stay.
central to New Forest area. constant traffic outside our room
I have stayed in the hotel before. It is conveniently situated for my needs and I was not disappointed with the standard of service offered. Nothing
the staff were lovely and the room was beautiful. room 107 needs net curtains as it is overlooked by anyone sitting on the bench outside the church.
The room was very good and clean. The food was good. And the staff friendly and helpful.
Very good location, the staff were very pleasant.
the spa was excellent and the hotel grounds were beautiful we felt that at that price level the bathroom should have had a stand up shower
the spa range of facilities were superb ,especially, relaxing in the hot tub gazing up at the stars at night .We all appreciated the peace and quiet of this rural location and liked looking out at the deer and horses grazing contentedly on the fields surrounding the hotel. We all enjoyed the feeling of being in the New forest with direct access. The historic house also made this a memorable, distinctive hotel .We appreciated the excellent variety of places to sit in the daytime,, both inside and in the grounds,so we could choose diferent places to gather to socialise and chat or just sit alone. and destress The service was too slow in the dining room which spoilt our dining experience. The dinner was expensive and we did not think that it was worth it. We resented that certain items cost extra and we think that this policy should be reviewed. We were amazed that the dinner menu remained the same every night so we only ate in the hotel once. There is a new catering manager which should sort this al out !!.the public rooms and corridors were very cold at night so guests went out or to the spa or to bed so be prepared .
We loved the fact that we were right in the forest and could explore without having to drive. This coupled with the luxury of the spa facilities and the comfort of the accommodation was a very relaxing combination. We did not like the fact that although we had booked with our full names we were referred to in the welcome letter as Professor Garforth and guest as though I was an add on or a mistress. We found this demeaning and offensive. The receptionist did apologise when we pointed it out.
hot tub and peaceful
Hotel was lovely and clean.excellent service and performance from staff. Slightly dissapointed with the room size.the tv in the bathroom didnt seem to work and furniture seemed slightly dated and worn.the tv in the main room wasnt all that great either.
Hotel staff were excellent. Food was first class. Peaceful and quiet The onsuite bathroom
Great location. Spa and gym/pool facilities are best I've seen for a long time.
The food in the restaurant was excellent. We had an 11 month old baby with us and the staff made a real fuss of her and made us all feel so welcome.
Location Overpriced for poor room
food and spa facilities nothing to dislike
Extremely proffesional and friendly staff
Excellent room, very comfortable. Ideal location.
It was extremely handy for accessing our cruise ship at Gate 4 and served our purpose very well. Not quite the traditional hotel we expected but after initial surprise we found it to be comfortable and convenient for our purpose
This is one of the most unique hotels that I have ever had the experience of visiting. The history of the property is fascinating - originally part of the White Star Line, to whom the Titanic belonged. The staff could not have been any more accommodating! This hotel is a keeper!
Nice Area bed comfortable. Overall good accomadation but a couple of staff were far too busy for the number of people, ie 15 minutes to check out, restaraunt fully booked when we arrived, bar person no idea where we sould park the car which is a major problem as you can only wait for two hours. Very exspensive ie £8 for a 250ml glass of Pinot which I think is ott. £5 for a bacon sarnie. All eating however was of a comparable price so take plent of money.
Excellent decor and facilities ,partculary good bathroom. No
Nothing Exceptionally noisy. Dirty linen. Had to go and find the receptionist in the bar. I cannot fathom how this place managed to get a 5 star rating. Perhaps I should have been warned by the "tavern" in the name.
We were really inpressed with our room it was very clean, the bathroom was fantastic loved the shower. The hosts were very nice would go again hoping for a upgrade next time,
Finding somewhere with a New Year's package was ideal, as 3 course dinner, bar tickets & breakfast were all included in the price
The White Star Tavern is in a great location for using as a base as everything is within walking distance. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast menu with food freshly prepared. Looking forward to staying here again.
