7.0 Good
Pros: It was the second time we spend some nights here. First time we had a room facing inner court and very quite. This time we had a room at the corner, so a bit noisy with the gate and the road. The lady of the house is very friendly and understood our problem. Breakfast is wonderful!
Cons: The beds were too hard for us.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: A peaceful and quiet oasis. Really nice quinta - old farmhouse with an extension and with a nice garden & swimming pool - too bad we could not use it because of the temperature. Excellent breakfast and very helpfull owner. In spring or summer, this location is even better.
Cons: You need a car to go to a restaurant or any other facility. Small windows in the room. Bed slightly hard, but that seems to be the standard in Portugal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a beautiful setting and a gorgeously restored quinta! Located in a small village, it was very quiet. We didn't use the pool but it makes a lovely view even better. The quinta is very close to the Bucaco forest and close to Mealhada for restaurant selections. We opted to buy a few things at the market for a picnic by the pool. Christina was a gracious hostess and breakfast was very good.
Cons: We liked everything!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast. Large comfortable bed
Cons: Room was rather dark. Access to parking area difficult for larger cars. We had a horrid Jeep! Toilet was designed for disabled person and rather uncomfortable - too high for normal people.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Secluded, quiet, family b&b with a few rooms. All A newly build place in old walls. Spotless. Very friendly service. Located near to Luso, Bussaco and Coimbra.
Cons: WiFi keep dropping out.

Pros: The hosts/owners Guida and her husband were eminently helpful, polite and obliging. They were always ready to listen and answer questions with local information. Their cafe which is part of the facility, served great, locally produced wholesome snacks. Their restaurant about 100 metres away is without doubt the best in town. Sea bass and codfish especially recommended.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderfully unique property with friendly and accommodating staff. Breakfast is excellent and extensive. Nothing at all like a hotel chain. We spent 4 nights and were sad to leave. The town is pleasant and relaxing. It’s only a short walk to the beautiful walking trails and palace hotel in Bussaco forest. Nice plush white terry robes. We will be back !
7.5 Good
Pros: It was different
Cons: The top floor room was too dark and felt creepy. There were birds in at attic and scratched all night. The bed sheets were not cotton and were very hot. Fortunately, after a very bad night she moved us to a nicer room.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Pretty old house, beautiful decoration, nice breakfast at a big wooden table, lovely swimming pool... A short walk from the center, on a quiet street... Nice place!
Cons: The coffee was problematic. Big thermoses of bad coffee, or a tempermental expresso machine. "A" for effort, but the result was less than perfect. Staffing was also an issue. Very nice people, but not always around, and the key system wasn't clear: the keys were huge, so temptation was to leave them, but then you couldn't get in if no one was home (especially an issue in the afternoon).

Cons: José offered welcome drink (champagne) and appetizers upon arrival. In all the quintas we stayed before, this was free of charge, so we didn`t ask about the price. Shock next morning upon departure, he charged us over 80 euros. which was more than a 1 night stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We've spent one week in this Quinta where we felt very welcomed by the hosts. Although there was a problem with the Wi-FI connection in the beginning of our stay, the owner did everything to resolve this problem a.s.a.p. Moreover, the daily breakfast was one of the best we ever had, with thanks to the ladies that prepared this breakfast. This Quinta is also very good located to visit Coimbra and other beautyfull spots such as Praia de Mira, Figueira da Foz, Viseu. We also did a bicycle tour from Viseu to Santa Comba Dao (called Ecopista do Dao, 47km long) in an amazing scenery and going down almost all the time.
Cons: Nothing.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very kind hosts. Went out of their way to help us. Thank you!
6.8 Good
Cons: Owners Family private pool-party on Saturday, during our stay.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast with fresh fruit and juice. Hosts are lovely people and try to make you feel at home as much as possible, and the lady at breakfast was also very nice and friendly. Great location and surrounded by green trees and vegetation, makes you feel like you are in the middle of a forest when you are in the town. The rooms were great, very spacious and really big bathroom! Will definitely stay again if staying in Luso due to the quietness and natural beauty surrounding the property, as well as the property itself which is very well maintained, considering it's age.
Cons: The swimming pool was not clean and ready for guests. We did mention this upon arrival and the host confirmed the water was clean, however, as the bottom of the pool was dirty we ended up not trying the swimming pool, which was part of the reason we had booked the property. They should definitely state on the website if the pool is open or not (or what time of the year the swimming pool is open), so as not to lead to disappointment. Even though the weather was not sunny we would have wanted to go for a swim either way. Other than that, everything else was amazing!

Pros: Beautiful old charming family house, very well furnished and comfortable. Gloria, the owner of the place, is very sweet and attentive person who made our stay especially pleasant
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice host and property although not what we expected. Rooms were very nice but all in annex buildings and not in main manor, swimming pool only available in season even though that wasn't what we expected as photos show it as enclosed. Breakfast was very lovely although sequestered in one small room.
Cons: Did not have access to manor building which we did not expect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice reception by Gloria with the tasting of house wine. Breakfast was served in a tastefully decorated room with bouquet of fresh flowers, the table setting beautiful and authentic, the breakfast itself diverse and rich, with fresh orange juice – exeptional. The rooms were made every day and fresh towels provided, and fresh flowers. We appreciated the good hints by Gloria for dining out.
Cons: We had booked a suite but were given the small house next to the well heated master manoir instead. We would have appreciated it if Gloria had shown us the suite first and given us a choice between the cold suite and the heated house.

Fitness and both indoor and outdoor pool were included (You have to wear a cap to use the indoor pool). Nice rooms with air-condition. The forest nearby was really nice for a great day hike. The thermal bath close by is very expensive but the restaurant was really nice with great food and service

Pros: The bed was super comfy sure to give you great night sleep. The garden is amazing to sit with a book and chill. The surroundings are amazing - only birds and buzz of insects to be heard. The pool is lovely and the restaurant has modest but great menue. Staff is super welcoming and the building (common areas and room) are just gorgeous!
Cons: One tiniest reservation I had was the fact that if you turn the lights on in the sanitary facilities in the room, light flushes throughout the whole room so if that bothers your companion in could be a bit problematic at night. But other than that - nothing to complain about.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The location
Cons: The condition of the room was out dated Some rooms had better conditions than others Mold on the bathroom Bed way too outdated and noisy Bedroom had no sound prove Very strong smell of old furniture Dusty Recption smelled like burned eucalipts The pool was dirty The others close at 00:00 therefore had to wait for someone to open the door which can take a lot of time...

5.5 Okay
Pros: We found the architecture to be interesting. The interior was grand, and the Lounge was comfortable and welcoming. The dining room was lovely. Our room was large. The breakfast buffet was good.
Cons: We found the Palace needing upkeep. It was very tired. Our room had two twin beds, which were very hard. Dinner in the dining room was strange... very bright lights, close tables, and slow service (we kept having to ask for bread or the check). I had the lamb loin, which was mediocre at best, placed on a plate of carrot purée. We have been traveling through France, Spain and Portugal and have really enjoyed each Inn... but, unfortunately we were disappointed in the Palacio.
6.8 Good
Pros: The amazing location and building. This palace and gardens must be visited in my opinion.
Cons: Our room, and the hotel in general, wasn’t very clean. The building and common rooms strongly need maintenance; since the building is a historic palace (probably a listed building) this would be more important.
9.3 Excellent

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully palace
Cons: Bad service at dinner
7.5 Good
Pros: The building is extraordinary and worth the trip. The staff is very good and friendly.
Cons: It's way past the time of renovation. The rooms are decrepit, unappealing and uncomfortable. No longer in tune with what one needs, wants and expects in a a Palace hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful and great location
Cons: Cosy with modern facilities
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place, how often do you get to spend the night in a castle/palace? Amazing building, beautiful garden, super high ceilings, giant stair wells. A truly unique experience.
Cons: Dinner choices are all a bit of an acquired taste. I'm sure a Duke would appreciate the offerings, but some more standard (and affordable) fare would have been appreciated. The curtains in our room didn't close easily, so we woke up pretty early.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very beautiful place to stay .our children loved to play in the garden.
Cons: The bathroom is a little old .
5.0 Okay
Pros: Great location in middle of Bussaco forest
Cons: Really was very dated inside. Our room had peeling wall paper and really was not charming. Hotel needs a full renovation as has huge potential. I would not really recommend the dinner - we found it to be rather expensive for mediocre food. 1 night is enough to explore the forest and Luso town
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It's one of the most beautiful hotels in the world, so definitely recommendable! Also the park around it is superb. Exploring the walking routs is essential. Service and breakfast are great!
Cons: no wifi in the rooms. It would be nice to have bath robes, it's a five star hotel after all

7.5 Good
Pros: This is a beautiful old hotel in a beautiful setting. At breakfast they played 20s music and one could dream of former glory. There are some good restuarnats down the road where we met local English people who said you could buy a 10 room old house for 80k euros. Would need some doing up I think. But the area is full of decayed mansions.
Cons: The pool is not open!! All the pictures show this gorgeous pool and it isn't open until end of June. The train seemed especially slow- the one we got on took over 40 minutes, on return to Coimbra only 20. Some great and comfortable lobby furniture would make all the difference. This is a place for people to interact and meet each other. Get a vibe going!!! Cant recommend if you are public transport people like we are. Took far too long, and infrequent train to get here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were nicely decorated and comfortable. A good nostalgic feeling of the 20s and 30s decades. The restaurant was beautiful and the staff very accommodating. The buffet dinner was very tasty.
Cons: We truly enjoyed everything about the place.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is big and gives an impression from old movies. The bed was wide in our room and a good view to the garden.
Cons: There was a light smell in the bathroom. The corridors require some renovation. The fitness centre and the pool working hours are not convenient - from 10 am. Should I go to the gym right after breakfast?
7.0 Good
Pros: Very good
Cons: Room eas dirty and dusty
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room is spacious with beautiful views. Historical building with very well preserved details of Art Noveau style in public spaces. Nice restaurant.
Cons: The carpet in the room feels not so new and. The lighting in the bathroom is poor, and the bathroom in general is not very well maintained. The outdoor swimming pool was closed for maintenance.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Remarkable, vast, palacial hotel with charming staff. PERFECT hotel to stay with the station just along the avenue to catch the train into Coimbra. A happy & memorable two nights.
Cons: Nothing.
5.5 Okay
Pros: The breakfast room is large and sunny and the breakfast selection was varied.
Cons: This hotel needs urgent renovation. The whole complex is creepy with decaying woods and carpets. More than half of the rooms were surely empty. Our room was not bad in itself, except that the pillows are terrible and shower has no pressure.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Super nice building, great staff
Cons: The airco was malfunctioning, it was fixed.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We have been going here since 1997 and still love it.
6.8 Good
Pros: The place has incredible potential, it's a stately Art Nouveau building.
Cons: Carpet was stained in one of the rooms we took. Pool was empty, although it was the middle of July and that info wasn't available upon booking. Garden and grounds needs some more TLC. The hotel is not capitalizing on the possibilities that the building and its grounds have. Spa needs more staff to offer more services. Nothing specific to draw a traveler, except the pool that was empty, the original beauty of the building and the Springs that are located somewhere else. Hotel was almost empty.

Pros: Each unit has it's own secure parking. Bed was huge. Was just off a main road. Easy to find. Quirky. Hotel next door (Not on any maps) had a really good restaurant and the rooms were cheaper.
Cons: The site mentions that it has a bar but when we explored there was nothing. Very odd. Smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. There was very little close by for shopping. The massaging shower was just a show
10.0 Excellent

Cons: No chairs anywhere! No one around to help for breakfast, although it was then served promptly after calling. The surrounding area is dull; just a major highway. Nowhere to walk!
