very clean and good quality accommodation at an attractive rate; staff pleasant and friendly - nothing not to like! dining room lacked atmosphere, but at the rate we had that was acceptable- food was of good quality and well prepared
Great Hotel, huge room (triple), very good facilities and an excelent price.
A good place place to stay, comfortable, good food. Unable to control the noisy air conditioning.
Lovely setting in the mountains, modern rooms, good breakfast
Hotel is attractive regional design with clean modern rooms comfortable, well equipped with all amenities. Extremely good value with breakfast included. Poor sign-age. No hotel sign visible approaching from the east. Only a very small sign approaching from west. Therefore unnecessarily difficult to find hotel if unfamiliar with the area.
I liked that we were close to wildlife and positioned in lush, scenic countryside. Close to Covadonga and close to Llanes and other coastal beaches and miradors (vistas). The food. First night's dinner was bland and dull. Breakfasts (included) were worse. Uninspiring.
Brand new Hotel. Opened August 2008. Nice buffet breakfast.
Very little! We booked for 2 nights; the room we were given wasn't big enough to swing a cat and only about 0.6m between the end of the beds and the wall. The outlook from the window was into a service duct and the whole thing was thoroughly claustrophobic. Awful!!! Luckily we were changed to a much better room for the second night after complaining bitterly. We would not recommend this hotel.. Ian & Jane
Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel had a very nice ambiance. It was a little bit expensive and the beds were extremely uncomfortable.
Basic good value money hotel.
It is in a good location, the staff is really friendly and the rooms are clean and functional.
Pretty reasonable hotel, a little basic, but perfect for visiting the National Park. Plenty of restaurants nearby. OK if you like cider.
Location is very good - just across the river from the main centre of Cangas de Onis and just behind the big free car park so easy to find.
It was very central to the town and the picos de europa were easy to get to. good parking for motor bikes. Very dated, very noise, staff not particuly helpful.
the owner was very kind and helpful. He provided a lot of information and made me feel at home. I wished I´d been offered a room with a balcony as I would have preferred that even if it had cost more.
Hotel is very expensive. It is not real 3 stars. May be better to book this hotel for other days. I do not know
Went on motorcycles ideal base for picos range, fantastic parking, friendly people, lovely village Missed cooked breakfast
Poor room allocation system.Poor recording of checkout and payment.Unhelpful staff.
Good accomomodation, close to town centre, Secure parking for motorcycle all at a very reasonable price. No record of payment when settling bill.
location appearence from ouside not great - dated but fine inside
the room was very clean and comfortable staff seemed uninterested, dinner menu was very expensive with no alternatives
very old fasion but very nice hotel , prime location near the mountain i like there everythink
I liked the terrific scenery and view from our hotel window. The room was very clean and beds comfortable THe reception staff were not welcoming. On arrival we were told the restaurant was fully booked but we could order in the bar. we waited one and a half hours for a roll, when it came half of it was frozen in the middle - my husbands was barely edible and then he had an upset stomach that night so we did not take breakfast instead we drove to Potes for breakfast
Very handy for cable car and walking up a dead end but beautifull valley in the Picos mountains. Nothing but nothing in the way of community, hotel is isolated (which for some may be a very good point).
Fantastic location for hikers.
The location of the hotel was excellent and staff very friendly
Its location, at the end of a mountain road, surrounded by mountains. The room and indoor balcony with fabulous views.
Excellent view over pastures and mountains. Large comfortable room.
Affordable luxuary in a fantastic natural setting Waitress rushed us with our order for evening meal because we took a little time translating the menu and making our choice
a wonderful hotel . We celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary at the hotel and it was perfect nothing at all
Very nice hotel right in Covadonga. Be forewarned that this is the only place you will be able to eat at if you go to covadonga. Food was great and waiter went out of his way to have my daughter cooked pasta although it wasnt on the menu and didnt even charge us a lot for it! Rooms are nice and big. In the middle of nowhere but that was kinda the point.
the rooms the breakfast was not good
The restaurant served a good selection of food well prepared. The hotel and staff were satisfactory and there was a defined sense of history in the building. I had not realised how confined the area around the hotel was and the crowds, coaches and cars that were visiting the adjacent shrine and church.
Spectacular location, very good staff and management team The acustics in the rooms is very bad (one hears easily noise from other rooms)
The elegance, the beauty of the hotel and surroundings, helpfulness and amicability of staff.
quiet, beautiful surroundings....very professional, very friendly staff, an exellent choice.
Great location. Modern and stylish decor.
the room area and the location
The hotel is beautifully located in the pictorial town of Covadonga and close to the heart of Picos de Europa (national park in Asturias). View to the cathedral and cave. Our experience was horrible. We paid 100 Euro excluding breakfast for a room in the addict with only roof windows. The temperature outside was mild (mid twenties). The room was extremely hot (above 30) despite the fact the the A/C was turned on at maximum. The receptionist claimed there is nothing wrong with the A/C and anyway they have no other rooms. She suggested to open the roof windows. This did not help and even worse it started to rain and the windows were leaking directly on the beds. Trying to shut them off produced huge amounts of spilling on the beds. We had to sleep like that all night. In addition the TV did not work and the shower spilled all over the bath. I strongly suggest to avoid this hotel.
The staff were very attentive friendly and accommodating. The location of the hotel and the size of the rooms was first class in fact amazing. Would have been helpful to have a pedestrian access direct from Cangas de Onis by means of stone or brick built steps. A greater choice of meals especillay for younger children would be beneficial although the quality of the meals provided was very good. Provision of a small swimming pool especially for children would be an attractive feature as would a small gym. Still you can't have everything
Beatiful location and views of Los Picos in the snow Large and well appointed rooms Hotel was empty and staff and services non existant! One person run all the hotel facilities and the reception
Excellent food in the restaurant, wonderful views of the mountains of the Cordillera
Excellent room with excellent heating system, space and view. Free wireless Internet in the room. Good location. Very helpful and friendly staff. Small hotel, makes you feel at home. Very calm and peaceful. The receptionist is the same person who manages the cafeteria: I often had to go to the reception when I wanted something from the cafeteria (like breakfast) or go to the cafeteria when I wanted something from the reception (room keys). Not a big problem though, however they should install an intercom system.
The lady at the reception was very friendly and welcoming. The room was big, with a wonderful view, comfortable beds and very clean. Nice bathroom as well. The bed covers are a bit old. I made a reservation for a non smoking room, however we were given a smoking one. Truth is I did not ask to change because it was only for one night.
The receptionist was very helpful, not only with regards to our stay at the hotel but also providing information about the local area. Restricted choice of food at meal times. Partly due to our limited knowledge of Spanish but not helped by there being no written menu available [in any language] in the restaurant at breakfast or for the evening meal. Clearly the hotel does not have many English speaking visitors but we would expect a hotel of this standard to do more to overcome this.
over priced !
Very modern hotel with friendly and accomodating staff.
The hotel holds the best view in town at the Picos. The hotel was under-staffed. Staff was friendly enough but seemed to lack professionality. There was no hot water when we first arrived. Don't stay here when you like to sleep with open windows but have problems with dogs barking through the night.
Large room, great view. The staff spoke very little English but were friendly and helpful. 10-15 minutes walk to town center. Our room was close to the terrace with insight through the windows. Breakfast is not a buffet but is served at the table.
Large room very comfortable. Very peaceful location. Good walks nearby. Bar/cafeteria was very good for a light meal.
The hotel has an excellent location in the Picos de Europa. Very nice room and facilities.
A lovely and relaxing hotel with a pretty courtyard, friendly staff and very good in-room breakfast. A nice combination of history and modern amenities.
historic atmosphere and peaceful lots of history very relaxing easy to get too
The buildings and surrounding are beautiful and it is so quiet. The luxury is not overwhelming.
Lovely building and nice setting The room had obviously been previously occupied by a smoker and smelt very unpleasant. Please provide no smoking rooms
Hotel is located between mountains for very nice surroundings. The addition made to the hotel was noy of great quality - needs work. Restaurant MD lacked professionalism.
the staff were extremely helpfull and friendly N/A
Scenery and location Rooms are overpriced
Beautiful building, friendly staff, good food. Great location from which to drive further into the mountains.
Excellent value for money.
Good place to stay for a stop off when exploring the roads of the picos by motorcycle.
Staff very helpful and pleasant, good service at all hours. Attractive situation, clean and comfortable Breakfast only average for the price.
Excellent position - edge of town and easy access to mountains. Would have appreciated a non-smoking room - slight smell of cigarettes/ possibly from other rooms?
The Hotel is in pleasant souroundings by the river, and only a short walk from the town centre, it is a pleasant place to stay in, and the Hotel staff make you feel welcome, and are very efficient and helpful. I would certailly consider staying there again. No
Good nice staff; good food and good location There were no negative points.
Staff were friendly, hotel was clean, quiet, central 6 euro per day parking in car park, air conditioning very poor, no restaurant, poor breakfast in bar, public area very limited, tiny bathroom. Not a 4 star hotel
Great location and staff Expensive breakfast
It was a good experience! The room was large and confortable. The breakfast it's very reasonable.
Nice location, but a little noisy (interior rooms OK). Spatious rooms.
Staff was great Pillow. Showerhead was broken. Minor issues
Great location for anyone hiking in Picos de Europa, either as a first night or last night stay or for that matter for loner if you wanted to do day hikes.
The location is ideal and you gave clear instructions on how to find it by road. There is ample parking nearby when the hotel car park is full. All staff friendly, helpful & courteous. Room facilities very good. It is a shame that the restaurant is closed for evening meals on Tuesdays. It would save your clients having to hunt around for an alternative restaurant. Most other restaurants in town also close on the same day.
Location. The bedroom was very pleasent. Big and confortable bed. Bathroom with window. the breakfast was not appropriate to a 3 start hotel. Cleaning of the room was not very effective.
location of hotel is very good, relative to the town and to the Cares Gorge.
The friendly staff and the relaxed atmosphere. 1. The fact that the other guests were not careful at all when closing the doors. It was very annoying. 2. We were supposed to pay €213, but we ended up paying €213,61. It is not a great difference but we cannot understand why that happened.
Very very helpful staff, great location.
Great location. Great value.
Fantastic location in the centre of Arenas. Lots of nice bars/restaurants around. 10 minutes drive to Poncebos for access to the Picos de europa national park and the stunning Cares gorge hike. Room was clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this hotel. The only drawback was that the room had no a/c and it was very hot in the middle of August!
Able to keep bicycles in safe place
The views! Insufficient secure parking, room for 5 cars at the hotel and 30 cars in a field down by the river and the subsequent trek back to hotel.
Friendly helpful welcoming staff. Quiet hotel, comfortable serviceable rooms and nice bar. Nice clean swimming pool. Restaurant was not always open in evening although when it was the food was fine. Breakfast could be better
wonderful views, staff incredibly helpful and friendly
A lovely rural hotel in a farming area, very friendly helpful owners. The Hotel had a truly relaxing and family feel. The sitting room area felt very homely and was full of books and magazines, and other things belonging to the family. Even though we spoke very little spanish all our needs were fulfilled. The mountain views from our bedroom balcony were stunning, and we loved the sound of the sheep with bells around their necks. Some late night Spanish arrivals were very noisy. This could happen anywhere.
Great balcony with wonderful views!
idyllic rural setting; beautifully appointed old building, tastefully restored; balcony off room; mountains nearby the breakfast was only ok; something hot like bacon, or even cold meat or cheese would have been nice
The owners were delightful and made you feel at home, going out of their way to assist even down to lending you their own umbrellas when it rained. The breakfast was delicious with small little pancakes that melt in the mouth. The rooms were comfortable and led onto a balcony withh terrific views
The hotel was at a great location (at the Pixus de Europe), capacious, comfortable, well accessorized and beautiful rooms. Big parking next to the hotel. The staff did not speak English. We had difficult time finding the place because the name of the village on Booking site was of Camaleño and the Hotel was located 1Km from there (Look for little sign on the main road for San Pelayo)
Superb location and helpful staff.
This is a very nice small hotel in one of the most beautiful surroundings imaginable. The views from the rooms and the yards is fabulous. Sorry we didn't allot more time for this stop.
The view from our room was stunning. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The sound proofing could be better.
Warm and friendly welcome with attention to detail. Stunning views from bedroom.
Good location. Excellent rooms. A very well run hotel which is very easy to explore Potes.
The room and its view, the proximity to both town and country and the helpfulness of the staff. There were no tea/coffee facilities in the room.
clean and spacious room, very quiet, easy access to town and shops/restaurants room facilities a bit basic, e.g., no tea/coffee in room.
Great rooms + connecting lounge with views on the top floor with space for 5 people. Close to potes. Next to the main road into Potes so some traffic noise
In the hotel no body spoke english
Nice, well furnished and spacious rooms with, in our case, a superb view of the mountains. We needed parking space for a trialer which the owners readily provided. The breakfasts weren't very exciting.
Excellent hotel suitable for access to the picos if you have a car.
The hotel was in an excellent position on the main road approx. 5 minute walk from centre of Potes. It is apparent that the hotel has been recently partially re-furbished. We stayed in a newly re-furbished room which was spotless, tastefully decorated, well equiped and had a very comfortable bed. Bathroom also newly re-furbished to a high standard. The receptionist. The receptionist and the receptionist. Ignorant, rude and un-helpfull young woman who had a phone permanantly glued to her ear in deep conversation with friends. So much so that she was unable to verbally welcome us on arrival and continued her rude conversation during the entire check in process. This ignorant behaviour was also noted whilst serving other guests within the hotel bar. We stayed at Valdecoro for two nights and without exception.....on each occassion we passed by reception she was there........phone to her ear.
Room seemed brand new, very modern and comfortable. Included breakfast was good (continental). Parking was easy. All for less than €60.00, excellent value for money.
Good hotel location, at 5 minute walking distance from the village center and at 100 meter from a supermarket. The Hotel breakfast room veranda offers a nice view over the mountains. Rooms are pretty basic, spacious, but ok for the price. The corridors are nicely decorated, which made you expect just a little more of the rooms. Make sure you take a room at the back side of the hotel as the hotel is siutated along a buzy main road. It's a pitty that there's no garden or a place outside to sit around though.
This is an absolutely magnificent hotel, superbly priced, delightfully staffed in one of the most beautiful parts of Spain. We were offered a choice of rooms, settling for what was effectively our opwn cavernous one bedroomed apartment with modern bathroom, spacious lounge and huge bedroom. The setting, just minutes drive, or a beautiful walk from the beatiful town of Potes is breathtakingly beautiful. Fuente De, effectively paradise on earth, with its cable car and stunning walks is also just a half hour drive away and absolutely unmissable. It is a family run business and betwseen them all, the family could not have been kinder and more helpful. I really can't think of anything negative to say about it. Nothing at all
The Posada was a little difficult to find but when we did the welcome was superb. The owner took us around the property and showed us the gym, spa etc which we did not realise they had. It was tremendous value and I would certainly reccommend it, and stay there again.
The decor in our bedroom was rather an acquired taste with silver-coloured furniture and metal tulips as a bed head! The bed was very hard. As we were the only guests on our first night, we were asked to go and have breakfast in the restaurant cafe a few metres away. This was very basic, toast and coffee, with the locals smoking around us. The second night was better as there were other guests and the breakfast room in the hotel was open and there was more choice. Parking was along a fairly busy road.
Very helpful staff, good location, clean rooms and breakfast choice.
We loved the location, the cleanliness of the hotel, the friendliness of the staff and the price were really competitive. Absolutely nothing. I could not find anything to fault this stablishment.
We were made most welcome, the staff could not have done more to make our stay very enjoyable. fablous location for visiting teh Picos.
Very nice parador Bedroom was very noisy from adjoining rooms.
We loved this hotel. The decor is inspired, the staff wonderful, the atmosphere excellent. Peaceful at night despite being just off the main Panes to Potes road. Good restaurant a few metres away. Oh! and excellent breakfast too. rather hot at night as there is no air conditioning but this was a very very minor problem.
Good room in which to have our dog Half board dinner. Very limited menu and poor. Full diner menu looked fine
The location, wonderfull place, nice comon spaces and large rooms. Quite noisy in the early morning.
It was a good expecience. The rooms are cozy and confortables. Quiet place. Improve the breakfast. Dining room should be separated from the reception.
comfort, welcome excellent locasl restaurants < 400 m walk nobody else there and on the last night when there was, it sounded as if the sound proofing might be lacking and irksome also high local traffic noise
Its location between the Picos de Europa mountains and the Asturian beaches. The friendliness of the staff. The dividing wall with other bedrooms was insufficiently sound insulated so that even normal conversations could be clearly heard.
Good modern hotel, clean and well located a few km from Cangas de Onis. I spent 10 days in Spain and the food in this hotel was the worst I experienced.
Location, location, location. Superb.
very romantic:very nice eny one from my frends that will take a vacation in north spain i will recomand casa de campo non
Good location, clean in general, not bad service. Walls are too thing, be sure you don't have noisy people next door. Food not great.
The staff was friendly and very helpful. The use of the internet in the loby was free. Breakfast buffet was generous.
Localization, breakfeast and silence
Great location, the perfect spot to start your adventure in the mountains of "Picos da Europa". Staff very nice and attendant, perfect location even to walk around the little city of Cangas. Don't miss the Cidra Bars nearby. Room too small and they have no free parking around the Hotel. The breakfast outside the hotel was awful and poor.
had a good feeling
The hotel was clean If you dont want breakfast dont expect a cup of coffee from the Cafe, even with the coffee machine on you wont get one!! Staff indifferent and does NOT deserve 4 stars.
Location for walking in Picos National Park, really nice room and building.
See previous e-mail sent yesterday See previous e-mail sent yesterday
excellent staff, parking and internet cold in our room, poor lighting for reading.
