Avis gentleman at pick up was extremely helpful and cheerful. He came across as being very professional in his work. One of the issues I had was the inability to charge my Android phone as there were no USB ports (all I could see were Apple charger ports). As a result my phone had died and I lost my GPS to find my way back to the Hamilton Airport. I ended up taking a number of wrong ways but eventually made it to the airport but had no time to refill the fuel, so regrettably I will be charged a premium for the field I used. My recommendation is to equip the car with at least an adapter for the cigarette lighter slot to accommodate either Android phone ports or a USB port IF for some reason there were these boards they are not easily identified nor found as I have searched when I finally got to the airport and could not find any to suit my connection
Arrived on location only to find out car is not available but website confirmed it.
Great service
The car I rented had automated steering in the event the car began to wander on the road. The first night I had it it was quite windy and I was fighting with the automatic steering to the point that I was seriously contemplaing taking the car back to Avis. Drivers who are going to use similar vehicles with automated steering should be warned about this. After the first night I found the car was a joy to drive. I also want to mention that I had accidentally left a book that I was reading at the Avis counter. I got a call the next day telling me about the book and to pick it up when I dropped the car off and sure enough, when I dropped the car off, I picked up the book. Thanks go to the Avis counter guy.
The vehicle was quiet, comfortable and a pleasure to drive. However, pick up of the vehicle left much to be desired. We arrived in a strange city, after dark and in the pouring rain. We were handed a key fob, and told that our vehicle would be just two buildings over to our left. After walking for some distance in the dark, we could not see any lit up AVIS sign, so looking at our black key fob, in the dark, tried to figure out which button might trigger the lights of our vehicle. Finally we saw lights go on, but have NEVER owned a keyless start vehicle. Again, in the dark night, had to figure out how to open the vehicle, then even worse, how to start it? After pushing the start button several times, I accidentally touched the brake pedal while pushing the button and it started. It would have been nice if someone took the time to show us where the vehicle was located, and it's features ---- especially in the dark and pouring rain. Drop off was easy.
Good service good rates
