While public transport works fine inside the city, any areas outside the center like the Perth Hills or Margaret River, which is 167 miles south of Perth, need to be reached by car.

The most notable difference when driving in Australia compared to most other countries in the world, is that here you drive on the left side of the road. Simply follow cars when you are new to this; getting the hang of it will only be a matter of a short time. Also note that speeding cameras are very common all around Australia, so adhering to the given speed limits is important.
Road conditions can vary from region to region and, even though Perth generally has well-maintained roads, conditions outside the city in particular can worsen, so make sure insurance is taken care of and get informed on whether car underside coverage is included. Also, when driving outside of the city, check whether there is enough gas in the tank, as gas stations can get scarce when leaving any urban setting.
Understanding the major local roads and traffic rules in Perth will make your drive within the city and its environs stress-free. Among them, the Great National Highway is the longest road linked to major roads in Perth, such as Roe Highway and Reid Highway. Avoid driving along Kwinana Freeway and Mitchell Freeway during rush hour to avoid getting stuck in traffic for long hours. St Georges Terrace is the main street in Perth and is lined with some of Perth’s most iconic architectural attractions, including skyscrapers and heritage buildings. Just off the Mitchell Freeway, along Wellington Street, you can find your way to King Street, one of Perth’s popular shopping districts, where you can get more cheap car rentals in Perth.
Once you hire a car from any rental location in Perth, you can easily drive along the many scenic routes because it’s not as congested as major cities like Melbourne and Sydney. From Perth, you can drive for about 2 hours to Pinnacles, which is in Nambung National Park, where you can enjoy panoramic ocean views or go scuba diving, kite surfing, or fishing at Cervantes, near the park. You can go on an even longer drive on the Kwinana Freeway to Augusta and head to Yalgorup National Park, or south on Forrest Highway to pass by the Preston beaches. Other attractions along this route are the Dolphin Discovery Centre and Bunbury, and farther to the Jewel Cave and Ngari Capes Marine Park in Augusta.
If you’re driving an electric car from Perth car rentals, you can find EV-charging points distributed all over Perth, some in shopping centers, car parks, and restaurants. There are four EV-charging stations in Central Perth found at the Citiplace Community Centre Parking Lot, the City of Perth Parking Lot along Pier Street, the City of Perth State Library, and the Perth Cultural Centre. There is a free EV-charging station located at His Majesty's Carpark along Murray Street.

I was not fully aware or properly notified when making the booking that we would be allocated an all-electric vehicle. In the end it was fine, but traveling long distances in the outback can be challenging with this type of vehicle. Customer should be better notified when they make these selections or when such cars are allocated to them.
ordered a "Luxury SUV" though Europcar received the order as a "standard". they eventually honored the original order, but it took quite a bit of effort and management overrides.
Like, nothing. They ask me to move to other rental site because they don't have the car, and I must spent $40 to Uber since they won't help me with anything.

Pros:
Staff were excellent. The staff at the drop-off point were helpful and efficient.
Cons:
Queuing to get in to the hut/portable office then a further wait at the pick-up was an irritation. If you have periods of high demand perhaps your facilities or staff, or both should be increased.
You cancelled our booking that we'd made a few months before. So, no it wasn't that great. Sorry, but you didn't even say why properly?
