Comfortable room, friendly staff, excellent food Parking fascilities are very poorly and not acceptable
Clean comfortable. With Friendly helpful staff. Smashing room with loads of storage space and a sea view to boot. Kept spotless during our 8 day stay by staff. would stay there again and recomend it to friends and family members.
breakfast.......all laid out with no staff interfering with you,but were there if you needed them... Parking-very little.
My room with a superb sea view and the personal kindness of the staff. The breakfast was wonderful - so fresh and beautifully presented, I was in the tiniest room in the hotel and my bathhroom was a real squash no doubt because as a widow I travel solo and ask for a single room.
The food was superb
Excellent hotel, right by the beach, near to the casino. Would definitely recommend it to anybody thinking of having a short break or stop over in Ostend.
room with satisfactory space; quiet (back); very efficient cleaning personnel who additionnally were multilingual and very nice ! New linen every day without asking it.Reception personnel, though not proactively "kind", was very helpful once you ask for something ...which is better than being kind without efficiency breakfast price/quality relation ist overdone, one can have perfect breakfast for half the price nearby. Parking fees are the same as official parking, and might be somewhat lower for guests who stay there for a number of nights (degressive tariff). Parking entrance very narrow for middle size cars already.
Well positioned close to all the restaurants, promenade and casino. Hotel restaurant was good. No air conditioning. No tea and coffee making facility. Expensive for room with no sea view. Noisy at night.
de parking aan het hotel is een pluspunt, idem voor het parkeren van de fietsen. ook de mogelijkheid om je hond mee te brengen vind ik fijn.
The location of the hotel is ideal - in the middle of the city centre and a few steps away from the coast. For a four star hotel, you would expect airconditioning in the room. A toilet brush would also be appreciated.
Excellent location near the venue of an event I attended. Spacious rooms. Professional staff. Only 2 tv channels available
Proximity to the beach, location is ok. Friendly staff, available to help. Rooms are ok, fair value for money.
In central position near beach and centre
great location. lovely breakfast.
We stayed in the apartment ,very comfortable and well equipped.A beautifully restored building in a quiet residential area but within a few minutes walk of all the resorts facilities.Well worth a visit.
Beautiful house with a very nice atmosphere
Beautiful accomodation. Very stylish and friendly service.
The house and the rooms have exceptional interior design, the staff is very kind and helpful, the breakfast is plentiful. The house is situated in a calm street, close to the sea as well as to the city center.
we just liked the room...and the area. Breakfast was good. First we received a room which was not ready (10pm!!!)...we had requested a big bed room and we received a twin bed room. the personel of the hotel was not very kind!!
great breakfast, friendly staff, good bed & pillows bathroom a bit aged
very comprehensive selection at breakfast.first class.
the room was cheap
I liked that the hotel was very central with plenty of parking
Location, comfort of room. Room was quite small. Hotel parking expensive, street parking limited.
All the staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The food was excellent with a wide choice of breakfast and evening meal buffet. The room was very comfortable and well maintained and the interconnecting doors for families was a real bonus. . The hotel is in a good location for local amenities and access to nearby secure local parking was really useful. We will definitely return here.
The low price, also the room was quiet at night The part of the hotel we were in was very cramped - room, corridors, staircases and lift. Breakfast was extensive but the hot buffet was warm at best.
I went on a short break with my wife and have stayed at this hotel before. We found the staff very friendly and the public areas of the hotel are were kept clean although the furniture at the front is a little worn. We enjoy a drink at the bar after having eaten out at one of the many local restaurants and the staff behind the bar are sociable and enjoy a conversation. The breakfast was enjoyable and there was a reasonable choice. Nice freshly ground coffee which I enjoy. The situation of the hotel is very good, just a short walk from many restaurants and bars as well as the shopping centre. The only downside was our room no 223 was looking as if it could do with a good makeover. The tea tray was brken in several places around the edge and needed throwing out and the wallpaper was dirty and coming loose at the joins. Despite this the bed was very comfortable and the room was cleaned daily to a good stndard and the cleaning staff were very pleasant.
The location was ideal for the centre.Hotel had secure car park.Breakfast very good .A nice relaxing bar and lounge.Easy checking in /out .Staff very helpfull and friendly
Clean, good service, nice swimming pool for kids
i didn't receive dinner on one evening because you have to reserve in advance. I was never informed to do so. According to the personel it was impossible to add one person. Barservice was not good. They didn't walked the room, you had to order at the bar itself, not a problem, only when they are at the back, don't come at the bar and block the little bell with a paper, you get thirsty.
Location from ferrie terminal at Ostende and Dunkerke The room very poor lamps dont work hairdriyer dont work low budget room
The Hotel it's very good. None.
We really liked the pool, sauna etc. It was small but very convenient. A big plus for us. Reason to stay at the hotel. we didn't know you had to make a reservation for dinner beforehand but got good directions to a perfect restaurant in town.
The location was excellent. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. The early check-out time of 10am - it was a struggle to get teenagers up and fed and ready to leave by 10am.
we had a family room which was very comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was good and with lots of choice. We found it a little too far from the central squares. If you hadnt managed to reserve a space outside the hotel the parking was difficult at times.
Breakfast was good. We arrived by 5p.m. and were told that we were too late to book in for dinner that night! with the number of guests in the hotel, I did not think that a small variation should have caused the kitchen too much problem with over 2 hours to prepare for this!. This soured our opinion and stay in the hotel.
There are a lot of good points: the location (very near the tram station), the room (spacious and comfortable, including the bathroom), the buffet breakfast(good variation and tasty) etc... One and only: there was no tea pot in the room, which was a bad surprise to us, Japanese. Almost all the hotels and lodges in Japan, the USA, Canada, New Zealand and so on have one for guests to use. We took some Japanese tea packs with us, which was just a mockery.
Breakfast was very good Staff were not very service minded Location was quite a long walk into the centre Swimming pool was very small
very informal atmosphere and relaxing
Practical location near the beach. Restaurant is also nice and the lift is fast and quiet. Very nice personnel. A bit old fashioned with narrow corridors. Rooms are dark with floor-to-floor carpets.
They have a lovily Breakfest.
the hotel was vvery tidy helpfull staff made are stay very nice
Although the room was rather small, the beds and linens were incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom was quite nice, clean and refreshing and recently renovated. The shower was voted one of the best on our trip of ten days. The staff at breakfast was gracious and helpful, very pleasant, and was the food was great. When we walked into the lobby of the hotel, we were apprehensive. It is dark and cluttered and needs revamping. When we got to our floor via the lift, the hall carpets were stained (though perhaps clean) and we became more apprehensive. Then when we opened our door, we discovered it to be a smoking room which did not smell good to us non-smokers. When we asked for a different room, there was none available. Therefore, we opened the windows in the room and went walking. On return, the room smelled fresher and it turned out to be a pleasant stay. (The bed linens were so comfortable we would have liked to take them home ;o)
Helpfull English speaking staff. Close to the beach and town centre. Car parking on site. Good food choice for continental breakfast. no.
The hotel is very close to the beach. The rooms are simple but clean, and they are equipped with a small fridge. It is also a very good solution for people traveling on a budget. Considering that dogs are allowed and that you cannot avoid the sand from the beach in your room with your shoes, the carped floors are maybe not the best solution for the floors.
I stayed in this hotel last summer and liked it so much I came back again this year. The rooms are decorated in a modern and comfortable style with good facilities. One of the best features of this hotel is its outstanding breakfast buffet which offers a wide selection. Good location and exceptionally friendly staff. As an english speaking person I was made to feel extremely welcome especially as I did not speak any of the local languages.
Convenient location for all facilities in the town. Very pleasant staff. Lovely breakfasts. No.
Easy to find, and only 100 metres from the beach makes this hotel a good choice. The efficiency of the hostess, the friendliness of her husband, and the great food make this hotel an excellent choice. No.
I love the attention to detail, the design, the fab breakfasts, the lack of hassle or staff being in-yer-face around the clock, and the fact the sheer quirkiness of the place does not come at the cost of the clients' comfort. Owner and staff are first rate. It's a real gem - it's certainly a place to which I would return, in a heartbeat... The website pictures don't really do it justice. There was nothing I didn't like, other than arriving far too soon to check in, alas, but although we stayed in quite a compact room I'd add a few small life enhancing extras such as bedside table for each bed, an extra bin in the bathroom, a small table on the balcony, extra hangers, and a make up mirror for the hard of seeing ! A tea/coffee maker would be marvellous - although there's a reasonably priced mini bar - or some facility for perhaps making some in the lounge... atlhough, again, there's no shortage of cafes and brasseries in the area.
Superb location, attention to detail, attentive management and staff highly recommended.
We were made so welcome despite the lateness of our arrival. The room was delightful with excellent quality fixture and fittings, crisp white sheets with a feather duvet over a bed with a memory foam topper - I was in heaven. Downstairs was a charming library with books, games and a vast TV where we were served drinks from the bar. Breakfast was served in a very stylish dinning room; it was delicious with selection of cheeses, ham, eggs, pastries etc.. At no point did we feel we have to rush and coffee was brought several times while we sat and relaxed. All in all, I couldn't recommend the hotel enough. The bed was too soft.
This is a very individual hotel that offers a really enjoyable experience in a delightful little town. The welcome was warm and our host went just that step further to make our stay special - for example getting English language newspapers for us and lending us a bike for an afternoon. The breakfasts were absolutely outstanding with a delicious range of breads. It was so good that we stopped there again on our journey back through Belgium.
The position was superb, limited parking on site(5) but free parking all around quite considerable, subject to season. It is a romantic hotel in a boutique mode, extremely nice owners and lovely staff, nothing is too much trouble with all sorts of advice on local and moderately distant towns, cities and events. The buffet breakfast is superb, tasted a great variety of lovely breads, plenty of nicely cut up fresh fruit accompanied by a good assortment of meats and cheeses and cooked egg to your taste. It was quiet but you were in the centre of it all to suit whatever choice of leisure, a lovely relaxed stay. It was not a matter of dislike but we did need additional wardrobe space, in general we had to live out of our case, we settled with it because all else was so good
New hotel with very comfotable and clean rooms. Excellent staff and superb breakfast - would definitely stay there again
It was a wonderful and very personal stay, with excellent breakfast the host was vert helpful, and made the stay memorable.
Perfect place for holidays at belgian coast, stylish rooms, owner is dedicated to deliver best service available, very personal.
A superb design hotel - excellent location, wonderful host, luxury breakfast; Bonne Auberge felt like home - will sure come back.
atmosphere and design, very nice garden
Almost totally fabulous hotel superb building, rooms, service and breakfast, would stay there again without hesitation. And it's easy to find! Just little wary of room no 1 on ground floor as is next the honesty bar and if unlucky you will be woken up by noisy people as we were last Friday night and also room is next to stone steps so can hear every footfall. But I do have very good hearing!
A haven of rest where you feel at home.
It was very peaceful and relaxing; staff were very helpful but not intrusive. We particularly liked the fact that there was an "honesty bar". Their showing this trust in others inspires trust in them -very refreshing in this day and age. Nothing!
Especially the tiny bar with open fire in the evening sometimes at the lobby there is a dicrete nasty smell
The staff was very friendly, welcoming and accommodating. We traveled with our 6 year old daughter, and they made her feel really welcome too. The free bikes, though not in great shape from sitting out in the weather, were a great asset. We saw the city on them. The common area and the "honor" bar with tea, coffee and alcoholic beverages was great. The lighting in the rooms is really poor--not a good place to work. But the light in the common area is better, though not private.
Beautiful room & bar & lunch area. Friendly staff! Very relaxed atmosphere.
big room and silence closed sweeming pool :(((
wat we zochten was een rustig weekendje en dat hebben we gekregen.lekker ontbijten, fietsen en lekker zonnen aan het zwembad.
It's charming, very welcoming, top marks to staff who were spot on for restaurants to eat at. A very relaxing atmosphere and peaceful for a good nights sleep.
Very nice environment, very tastefully furnished Customer minded and friendly atmosphere It would be a plus if teh whole hotel was smoking free and the coffee choice for breakfast could be better (cappucino or expresso wouild have been good)
The hotel was very comfortable and the owners were very friendly. The hotel was also very near the beach and the village centre. One small point - the staircase is quite steep and narrow therefore not suitable for elderly people
The rest and easy way in the hotel We would have liked dinner there it was such a nice hotel.
Charming hotel completely decorated in beach house style. Wetter was poor
The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially helpful with the confusing parking arrangements in the City...
We had a delightful stay at Hotel Rubens. Very friendly, the rooms were spacious and modern with lots of thoughtful touches of comfort and the breakfast buffet with freshly baked bread was the perfect start to the day. and our dog enjoyed her visit too.
A very tasteful and well-appointed suite. Spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. Hotel very well situated just a few minutes walk from the seafront and beach.
Pleasant comfortable hotel in the centre of De Haan, close to the beach and the centre of town. Staff friendly and helpful but not over bearing. No
Madam was charming and extremely efficient and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and we very much enjoyed our stay.
The rooms are quite large and have recently been renovated, they are well equipped and therefore a pleasant place to be. Everything is very clean and the hotel is situated in the middle of De Haan, close to the seaside. Breakfast is quite special because many things are served on the table. We would have preferred a buffet which would in my opinion also have been lots easier to handle.
We liked everything about the Hotel De Gouden Haan. Our accomodation was well equipped and extremely comfortable, the public rooms are tastefully decorated and furnished, the breakfasts were excellent, and the lady who runs the hotel is very efficient, helpful and friendly (and multilingual). No - we will certainly stay there again
We first stayed at De Gouden Haan in April and liked it so much that we went back there last week. We had a different room this time which was of the same high standard as the one we had on our first visit.
The hotel was very comfortable and had lots of character - just like going back into the 1930s - which pretty much describes De Haan itself. The shower was in an odd place (the middle of the bath) although the shower screen was at one end so consequently you had to be careful not to get water all over the bathroom floor!
Exteremly nice and helpfull hotel staff could be renovated as the rooms are a bit 'old'
Staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast was simple but very nice, comfortable beds
Very friendly Guestkeeping. Rooms a bit tiny but lovely. Not directly on the beach though. All in all a good choice!
