Very comfortable bed Let down by the services generally. I wouldn't stop here again however good the hotel because of the poor service facilities at Tibshelf generally
Large room, comfortable. When booking online, screen detailed a different hotel to the one that actually was confirmed in booking.
staff were excellent. but sad to say food wise, it was the worst experience weve had, as such there was not much food at all. hotel itself was very good. shame about the rest of services
Absolutely beautifully comfortable pillows!
Friendly and efficient staff on check-in
Very friendly staff who greeted us every time we saw them; check in quickly and courteously achieved No extractor fan in the bathroom so steamed up quickly
Room clean and comfortable. Breakfast - cooked breakfast was cold and very unpleasent - egg was uneatable. long queuee as only one person serving drinks and taking money - food was cold by time we had queued and paid.
Easy to book, very friendly helpful receptionist, large clean room, nice and quiet. Good night's sleep. None
Good room and staff, great food. Roudy group of men moved from private function room into hotel bar around 10pm. Took over the previously quiet comfy bar and some loud foul 'F' words used. Other customer was complaining to reception as we chose to leave, so don't know how staff handled the situation.
Staff were excellent - could not have been more helpful. Room was beautiful, bathroom was great with lovely complimentary shampoos etc plus nice range of teas and coffee. Hotel itself was full of character and olde world granduer.
The room was exceptionally clean. The waiting time for the evening meal.
wireless internet advertised but 'broken' - hasn't been working for a while according to the receptionist. The terrible noise from the two functions going on the hotel which made it impossible to go to sleep before midnight.
Staff very attentive, as it was my first stay I was taken to my room and shown the breakfast room, bar and restaurant areas on the way. The food was excellent and there was a good choice. Free Wi-fi in bedroom.
A nice comfortable, old fashioned hotel.
Very pleasant surroundings. Rooms were very comfortable felt more like home than a hotel room which can often seem cold and univiting Room was a little cold heat wise especially the bathroom
Newly kitted out and refurbished, with excellent staff and very good location, the beds were superb! Nothing, all of it was perfect!
Nice Enviroment and ambience, Friendly Staff None
Good atmosphere, comfortable, large rooms, pleasant staff, excellent breakfast. rooms on the front of the hotel suffer from road noise.
food was excelent the method of payment i got called from my room on numerous occassions wanting clearence on my card and it wasnt just it there were about six other people what it happened to .. this did not look good on my valentines night away..
pleasant staff, comfortable surroundings. good base for exploring derbyshire rather restricted table d'hote menu
Leaving No heating in room.
Good value and within easy reach of motorway I booked two rooms and the heating didn't work in either room, although one room had a blow heater which we used (the other had a fan!) The price charged for foood and drink in the hotel were excessive, hence we ate out in the evening.
Staff were friendly, courteous, and efficient. No
The service from the staff throughout the hotel was very good Room adjacent to the motorway producing more noise than we would have liked
the comfort and swimming pool, it cetainly made a good start to our belated honeymoon was rather surprised on the cost of alchol
the hotel was sound staff friendly the beer
Being able to use leisure complex and the flexibiity of times. Also the service and buffet breakfast was excellent as were the staff.
The pool and breakfast Staff unfortunatley not motivated
Polite, happy & welcoming staff - outstanding value for money
Breakfast - which was very good Very dirty windows (frames mouldy!) and cold veg with bar meal
Being able to work straight from the door of the hotel. The spa, when we were allowed to use it. No heater in our room. No where to sit except the bed in delux room, so we could not really visit our grandparents room. no lift. Our children (11 and 13) were not allowed in the pool when we wanted to go. No lift. No spin drier for costumes in the spa,so because our radiator was broken we had to put on cold wet costumes. a la cart restaurant was not open, and the bar food was chip orientated and the acoustics were terrible. No where comfortable to sit in the bar while waiting for our table. Insanely complicated billing.
Relaxed, friendly staff. The overall facilities looked pretty good, although I didn't use any of them. Overall design seemed a bit odd with the car park at the back and side, but the reception area at the front with no indication in the car park that that was where it was. Also considering the size and style of hotel it should get some proper real ale in the bar.
Although the hotel is 'tired' if you can get it for a cheap pirice you can get hotel services and facilities for Premier Inn costs. Food was good and at a reasonable price. As with many of the other reviews the hotel is in need of a revamp. Everything feels a little worn and outdated so don't book for a romantic weekend. It is fine for business if you arrive late and just need the convenience of a hotel.
since the new owners have been in place the food presentation and quality were excellent. up date the rooms next!
Clean rooms and good food in restaraunt.
Breakfast Room booked 6 days before was not available, I was put in a twin room when I had boooked a double. Teir website claimed to have a refurbished hotel, my room was old and dirty and definitely not refurbished.
Pool & spa
excellent rooms , great spa , food in the restaurant was out of this world ( gordon ramsay paying a visit ? ) , many compliments to the chef , excellent value for money , will visit again A1++++ if there was one slight gripe , it was having to queue for breakfast ? couldnt quite work out why such a well run hotel would run short of tables ?
Your staff were most helpful, particularly the lady at the reception desk. My first stay both memorable and excellent value. Absolutely nothing disliked.
The decor of the hotel The beds were a little small. Usually in hotels there is a king size bed. Also the beds seemed to make quite a bit of noise!
Helpfull staff Unfortunately the room we had was very cold, too small a radiator and not enough blankets on beds. this was rectified by staff. Duvets would be an improvement.
the receptionist was really nice, the rooms were nice the food wasn't that nice and some of the staff at the bar etc weren't very helpful and didn't offer things like knives and forks
Staff in bar and at breakfast were particularly pleasant, friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and nicely decorated. Housekeeping was good and maids were friendly too. Could do with mini-bar and bathrobes in the room they are treats when you are in a hotel! Reception service was okay but not as friendly as other staff.
Very Helpful and friendly reception staff. Restraunt staff very attentive
Really comfortable rooms. Lovely surroundings. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location within 10minute walking distance of Railway station. Parking available. Had evening meal, tasteless. Presented well but unable to eat it. Had breakfast and again unable to eat it, tasteless. I would recommend the hotel for above reasons but I wouldn't recommend the food.
Friendliness of the staff, and nothing seemed too much trouble.
Staff were friendly enough, room clean and tidy. Cold, cold, cold. Theroomm was cold. We weer told that heating doesnt come on until 4pm!1 Even when it came on not very warm. Tepid, not hot, water.
price of the wireless network
An unexpected find, that delivered much more than I expected when booking. Helpful staff, good food and wine, and great service at very competitive prices.
The stay overall could be summed up as average, if like myself you are using the hotel for a business stay then it is fine. A home from home in some respects which is what you need. The rooms let this hotel down, they were ok but nothing overly clean about them and this was the first point that put me off re-booking this hotel. The reason for booking was due to a 3 day course I was attending in Mansfield, however when I came to re-book for a 3 night stay in December this was turned down then I was offered just 1 night.
The room was very spacious and comfortable. Plenty of tea/coffee etc. We arrived at 8:50 pm and were told to place our order for dinner before checking into our room as last orders are taken at 9:00pm. Breakfast finishes at 9:00am which is really early if you are on a relaxing break and also had to check out of room by 10:30 which we have never experience before.
From start to finish, this hotel did not disappoint. Friendly, efficient staff in reception and in the reasonably priced restaurant serving a varied menu with generous servings, to the clean, comfortable, warm and welcoming ensuite bedroom and free parking close at hand, this hotel made travelling easy. All this with free wifi too! I cannot fault this hotel and would go out of my way to stay there again.
Staff were efficient and quick with service. Food was served quickly and of a god standard. Room was comfortable and clean. Represented very good value for money. Safe/secure parking. Would use it again. Prefer a bath to shower - although water was hot and plentiful and a power shower.
Both hotel , and room were exceptional and of the highest standard. Thankyou for a wonderful stay
Friendly staff, and good food.
Location, cleanliness, size of room Breakfast service on Sunday was shocking. Repeated orders, uncleared table, slow service - 1 hour for breakfast!
Helpful staff Very noisy on Friday and Saturday nights, because of discos which continued to 12.30 and 12.00 respectively.
The friendliness of the hotel staff; they were very helpful at the front desk.
breakfast excellent shower leaked and was mouldy
Clean, welcoming, efficient and friendly staff. Good size room although bed a little uncomfortable but extremely large.
The selection of TV channels was excellent (all the SKY sports channel). The breakfast was also excellent.
Efficient reception, large clean room, excellent meal Touch of mould in shower, offer of free bottle of wine with meal rather hidden away
Room very small also noisy and hot
Location Bathroom doors not opening properly, Hot breakfast - Cold!, attitude of staff
Efficient, helpful staff. Comfortable bed, en suite facilities. Would like to see an alarm radio type device.
Clean, adequate place for an overnight stay Poor explanation on where things were for breakfast. Had to ask another couple where to find tea/coffee
convenient location, good size car park with barrier.
Spacious, smart, comfortable, clean and well equipped family room. Good breakfast spread. None
All the staff None
Warm welcome, near main travelling routes, all facilities t eat etc. close at hand.
it was pleasant the bathroom ceilin had all black mould on so did some of the wall when you lift the showergell out of the holder in side was black and greasy good job i bought my own missus would not shower
Very handy location adjacent to the M1 No problemms incurred during my stay
The hotel was good. The room was clean, spacious and nicely presented with comfortable beds. When we checked in, the hotel database had not taken in to account our booking request for a family room and only had reserved a double room for us, even though our booking confirmation clearly stated a quad room. Thankfully they had a family room available, but this could easily have not been the case. We will probably book directly through the hotel next time to ensure this doesn't happen again in case there is no family room available when we get there.
Good example of historical coaching inn Rather expensive, breakfast food patchy in quality.
I felt that for the price of the room, it should have been more spacious! A more overall welcome!
Atmosphere - mixing the old with the new
Friendly staff and very clean rooms.
Did not like noise from a wedding reception below our room and the need to move rooms at 11.30p.M.
Nice looking place, very traditional English decor. Perhaps we caught them on a bad day but there was some initial confusion about our double room being a double. We then had to change rooms because of a shower fitting that hadn't been repaired. Staff accommodated this fine, but we'd not have been able to if it had been full. Very expensive for what it is - Central London hotels are cheaper than this - and it doesn't really offer anything to justify the cost.
The Staff were friendly The building was extremely old and the floor is uneven and not level in some places, this was understandable due to the age but my bed (room 4) was not level and when lying down my feet were higher than my head. I found this disturbing to sleep on. I think they should address this issue as it definately effects the comfort of the stay.
Comfortable room.Excellent food with helpful, friendly service No air-conditioning in the room
reception by staff and dining facilities excellent. Evening meal and breakfast top quality. Floral display beautiful and antiquity of hotel wonderful the rooms and hallways leading to them require a little "refreshment". Though comfortable, given the tariff, I felt some improvement in this area would bring enhance this beautiful old hotel.
the atmosphere of the hotel
A truley personalised service by the owner and a quality breakfast
staff were there but not in your face
I liked the cleanliness and the comfortable beds. The room was also large with a good sized bathroom. I also liked the provision of nice shower gel, soap, biscuits, coffee and tea.
Lots of room..big bathroom..warm.good service.good car park..best guest house we have ever stayed in. Nothing
welcoming and helpful landlady
I enjoyed my one night stay
Clean & tidy room. Comfortable beds. good breakfast Owner complained that there was eye make up stains on towles. I felt very uncomfortable after this.
within walking distance of town centre and plenty of car park space
Tha bathroom was very light and it was good to be the only people in the hotel. The bed was comfortable and the rooms werre warm. The room was quite dark in the daytime and there was no view and no armchair (nor any chair). It had no bath. It was small compared to overseas hotel rooms but not compared with other British. The teamaker needed a power point but this was hard to reach and other items had to be unplugged. Not enough table space.
Food was quite good and reasonably priced. We found that the hotel was not up to standard. No glasses in bathroom. No remote control for TV. No decent chair to sit on whilst in room. Central heating radiator was not in use but we were given a small electric heater. Carpet did not look very clean. The staff room or office was immediately next door to our room with only a partition wall between them; hence we could hear everything they were saying and doing. Very annoying late at night and being woken up by the banging Etc. If we could hear them, then they probably would have been able to hear us.
Good service in all areas. Allocated ground floor bedroom in stable block. Room OK but very noisy from rooms above. Woken at 05.00 and noisy from then on.
Basic room, but good value for money I paid for the breakfast for my wife and I, as the young lady had charged my account for them. However I was informed that night, when I got home, by Steve and Mandy (it was their engagement party in the function room the night before, thus the overnight stay) that the manager had agreed to include the breakfasts in our room rate of £35.00. Perhaps your young lady in the morning had not realised? Can you check up on this one and report back - thanks
The food in the evening was good , staff friendly. The room was dirty, taps you could not turn off, black mould everywhere, cracked wash basin, chipped shower tray, dirty carpets,I could go on and on, will never stay here again. What more can I say?
Bedroom had lounge area Check out after breakfast on morning of departure was not good. Staff couldn't access computorised details of previous nights meal or issue a VAT receipt
Food was acceptable, staff very helpful room was poorly equipped, no remote on television, light did not work in bathroom
the room was seperate from the pub itself, the staff were very helpful too
We were originally in a smaller room but were upgraded at no extra cost. The rooms was clean and plenty of space. Some of the decor is rather old fashioned though.
The staff were excellent. Very helpful when we were delayed and could not get there by the allocated check in time The place is desperately in need of refurbishment, this is not a complaint, as we enjoyed our stay despite that.
Price Rooms clearly need updating and a good clean but to be honest you can't expect too much for the price
Staff helpful No evening meals
Near to town centre, staff friendly, Should have been shown facilities eg. lounge / bar.
breakfast, friendly staff put on top floor, that wont happen again!
Friendly owners, nice full english breakfast & comfy bed. Great for visiting Mansfield, 1min walk into town. A bit more of a Guest House than a hotel, room lovely and clean but was looking a little tired.
en suite bathroom sinks too small (or taps too big)
helpful staff - position of hotel was very conveneient for me.
The owners are very nice, friendly and helpfull. There is sufficient off street parking behind the hotel, which is monitored. You are given a key to the outside door, which is very handy when coming in late and not having to disturb the owners.
Nice and quiet area yet convenient for town centre, Spacious room, friendly and helpful owner, big comfy bed, good choice at breakfast, very reasonable price Antiquated tv which didn't have channel 5, the shower door was a struggle as it scraped / got stuck in the cieling. The shower was a bit dirty.
It was quiet, clean and comfortable. Slightly run down air.
My wife, kids, & I stayed for 1 night in October prior to going on to Center Parcs. The owner, John, was extremely helpful & attentive. Made sure our bikes were inside overnight to keep them safe. Great value for money family room too.
