As always, Enterprise is the most expensive car rental option. However, I've always used Enterprise because as a disabled person with a service dog, I've never had any issues with my dog being allowed in the car. This time, when I returned the car, the Enterprise staff person, took one look at us and immediately declared that I would have to pay a 250.00 cleaning fee. I always travel with a car seat cover and my dog is harnessed in and does not roam the vehicle. If there was any hair in the car, it would have floated off when I removed the cover. It was in no way the "excessive hair" stated in the rental agreement that would warrant a cleaning fee. The attendant also told me that NO dogs were allowed in Enterprise vehicles, which is inaccurate.Reviewed Nov 28 2025

When you rent a car, the expectation would be that you would get the car you chose. Not my experience. I didn’t rent a compact vehicle because I’m a larger guy and I didn’t want a Mitsubishi after several bad experiences. The only car available was a compact Mitsubishi that looked like it was rolling on 2 spare tires since it was missing hubcaps. I will say that while the car was frustrating, the manager was understanding of the situation and offered me a discounted price and a tank of gas. I could tell he was embarrassed and did what he could. If you rent an available car, you shouldn’t have to deal with that car being unavailable, and you shouldn’t have to be downgraded.Reviewed Nov 24 2025

I booked through Enterprise specifically to avoid the well-known predatory damage practices in Portugal, but unfortunately I still ended up with exactly that. At drop-off, the agent claimed extremely minor cosmetic marks on the plastic hubcaps were “damage” and charged €439.08. The behaviour was consistent with the typical Portuguese rental-car damage scam: • the agent repeatedly asked if I had insurance before even looking at the car • he refused to mark the damage on the inspection diagram and told me I could draw it myself • he would not clearly show how the alleged marks differed from the faint areas visible in my pickup video • he would not state the cost of the charge until we were inside the small office • the “damage” itself was tiny, superficial cosmetic wear that no major rental company would normally charge for • I filed a written dispute with Guerin on the same day and received no acknowledgment or response nearly a week later. Additionally, the pickup process was extremely slow. The self-check-in computer failed multiple times, the system was reset twice, and I had to wait a long time in the queue after it crashed again. I chose Enterprise to avoid exactly this type of experience, and I’m very disappointed.Reviewed Nov 21 2025
