Didn’t realize it was an electric car - asked to pay to switch to a hybrid or gas’s due to planned long drive. Staff member refused & was rude. Didn’t try to understand & kept speaking in French even though I asked for English. Gave small electric car with NO charging cord & the charging port on the car didn’t match any of the charging ports available on the road or in the town we visited. We spent more time looking for & staying at a charging station than we did being able to do our planned tours of the area. Agent didn’t explain return process for an early morning return & I circled the airport twice before figuring it out.Reviewed Dec 1 2025

Regarding this it was a deeply disappointing and upsetting experience when collecting my rental vehicle. Upon arrival at the counter, I was pressured into purchasing additional products and coverages that I did not request, agree to, or need. I was told these items were mandatory and that the insurance I already held through Expedia “wasn’t valid” and that I should “contact Expedia” instead. This information was misleading and felt deliberately manipulative. I was also charged for services I did not use, including being made to sign for items such as a bus transfer that I never took, yet was still billed for. The counter agent’s behaviour was unprofessional and unacceptable (sanoe). She was rude, dismissive, and gave me an ultimatum: either pay the added charges and hurry up as she can’t waste her time with me as customer waiting or leave without a vehicle and with no refund. This felt coercive and left me with no genuine choice. This experience not only resulted in unauthorised charges, but also ruined the start of my holiday. Do not buy an international insurance. Europcar in Ecuador will make you buy their insurance even if you use another insurance. Save the money and buy their insurance when you pick up the car.Reviewed Nov 25 2025

- Very very very old car, dents and scratches everywhere (could not even write them on paper). - After 15 km front tire was loosing air, Kept pumping it up. - Car not clean outside and inside (old, thus....) - 3 Weeks after returning the car (all fine) still waiting for deposit to be released, although they state that they have ordered the bank to do so. It does NOT have to take that long! Ridiculous! - Never Europecar again!Reviewed Nov 21 2025

I booked this company specifically because it was listed as “Terminal” pick up. I showed up at the counter, and they told me there would be a ~600AUD additional charge to pick up at the Terminal. Otherwise I had to get a shuttle bus to the off-Terminal site. I was travelling with my wife, large bike box, 3 suitcases and we booked the Terminal pick up so we didn’t have to worry about anything fitting or not fitting in the shuttle van. Had to waste at least 2 hours waiting for the shuttle and driving to the pick up for the pickup and return. The price we paid reflected Terminal pick up/drop off. Customer service lady clearly skipped customer service onboarding and had the attitude of “not my problem” even when I showed the Kayak confirmation email said Terminal. Because her system said a different location, of course she was right and the customer was wrong. Would not book again. I still don’t understand how in 2025 the car rental industry is still a mess and usually a terrible experience.Reviewed Nov 12 2025

When picking up the price of the rental skyrocketed to nearly 3 times what was booked. The car would not connect to the phone, they tried to add a Bluetooth dongle but that only worked for 3 blocks. Corded didn’t work. Navigated by holding the phone not great when driving on a new side of the road. Felt like a bait and switch. Would never rent from them again.Reviewed Nov 7 2025

When booked it was showing car in terminal..but when reached have been adviced car was off the terminal..had to wait for 40mins for shuttle to pick me up…during rental…had flat tyre and they asked me to wait 1hr which was not acceptableReviewed Nov 1 2025
