The Porches Inn at MASS MoCA is an intimate 47-room boutique property whose retro-edgy backdrop and industrial granny chic dcor combine to create a strikingly colorful style all its own. Tucked away in the heart of the Northern Berkshires, in historic North Adams, MA, the eclectic Inn is located directly across the street from the internationally renowned Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA). Porches is a great place to call home while visiting the area.
Cons: Too much light coming into the room at night
Pros: Average continental
Cons: Steep steps to the 2nd floor room and no help with luggage. We are seniors.
Pros: I like that the pool was open even tho it was january. Loved the room set up. Lover the staff, very friendly and helpful. Did not like how there is nothing around there. I'm use to seeing alot around me. And there was not much to do around there if you are not into art. The contemporary art museum was right in front of the hotel, but other than that, there is not much to do. The drive from new York was very nice.
Cons: Middle of nowhere.
Pros: The porches and the pool and indeed the gardens are lovely and inviting.
Cons: Too quaint by half. I will return again but wish it were more stylish and up to date. The eclectic decor and basic cold breakfast room are quite off-putting. This could be a high class place but instead goes middle of the road.
Pros: The ambiance and everything about the place.
Cons: I booked a king size bed as I am a tall person and we were told when we arrived that we were “upgraded” which at the time I thought was very nice when we entered the room it was a small bed I went back to the front desk to say I didn’t want the upgrade and she told me my king-size bed was given away!! I think this is called a bait and switch, when I asked to speak to the manager she said “oh just take anything you want from the gift shop as a compensation “what ??!! really ??!!
Cons: The breakfast was very limited I expected more/
Pros: Great location, walking distance to MASS MoCA. Good breakfast options.
Pros: Friendly staff, super helpful.
Cons: It was all good.
Pros: Everything about The Porches was wonderful - the room was clean, comfortable and bigger than expected. Breakfast was delicious and the coffee was excellent. We spent time in the beautiful pool and took advantage of the comfortable porches. Hope to come back for another visit!
Pros: It felt like home. The location was great.
Cons: Discolored water and no real response to complaints about it

Pros: The owner is lovely and efficient...Decor and accommodations first rate. Breakfast delicious
Pros: The innkeeper, Lesa Bennett, was delightful—warm, thoughtful, and incredibly talented! She has restored and decorated this charming, historic property beautifully. The room was immaculate and the bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding, with delicious French roast coffee, fresh locally made yogurt (amazing), warm homemade biscuits and fluffy savory frittatas. We would not hesitate to recommend this property!
Pros: We booked Blackingron Manor while planning a trip to Mass MoCa. It’s in a great location only 2 miles from downtown. Lisa the innkeeper was wonderfully welcoming and extremely helpful. She is an excellent cook and her breakfasts were absolutely delicious! There was always wine and cheese waiting for us in the afternoon as well as homemade cookies. The room was lovely and clean and the house is just beautiful with a stained glass entry way. I’d absolutely stay here again!
Cons: Nothing we didn’t like.
Pros: Great hostess. Made us very comfortable.
Pros: Beautiful property . Wonderful innkeeper
Pros: It felt welcoming, it was extremely clean and the architecture was beautiful.
Pros: Everything was terrific! Our hostess, Lesa, was delightful and very accommodating. She served us tea late in the evening after we had arrived which was so nice.
Cons: I would have liked a shower curtain around the tub to hold the water when showering. The bedroom was very warm.
Pros: Met my satisfaction and more
Pros: The room, location, service, innkeeper
Pros: Great really old home. Coddled eggs and local ham plus apple tart for breakfast. Would stay again.
Pros: Rebecca was lovely, as was her home. She cooked us a very delicious breakfast and we enjoyed chatting with her and learning about the area. We would stay again and definitely recommend it to others
Pros: Very cozy, beautiful surroundings, very accommodating hosts Becky & Mike, overall a wonderful stay
Pros: Rebecca and her family were extremely welcoming. They lit a marvelous fire when we were cold, gave us many helpful hints on where to visit. Altogether we were treated like family and it was a great experience.
Pros: Old house with a lot of charm.
Cons: The windy road to MASS MOCA
Pros: great tasting water negotiatw with neighbor about cutting grass
Cons: mark entrance to trail better
Pros: Lovely place. Such a nice family and great stay! Friendly and good people!
Pros: Rebecca was very nice and accommodating. The stay was very pleasant. She tried to make me comfortable.
Pros: Breakfast was delicious, Becky has been a nutritionist for decades and she served really delicious farm fresh food. The comfort level was great, too, a good mix of interaction with our hosts and getting our own space at the same time.
Pros: Great location, very friendly and welcoming host, superb breakfast. Bedrooms were clean, beds were comfy. Plenty of hot water for the shower. Our host was very helpful, providing us with lots of good info about the local area. The accommodation includes access to a private lake for swimming, canoeing etc. Really nice quite rural location.
Pros: Very friendly hosts, lovely old house, comfortable rooms, beautiful corner of the Berkshires
Located in North Adams, Whitcomb Summit Retreat is in the mountains, within a 5-minute drive of Savoy Mountain State Forest and Mohawk Trail State Forest. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The staff were so helpful. The motel room was clean, bed unbelievably comfortable...Owner deserves great success. The motel is getting a makeover and Jim is doing an AMAZING job. He is genuinely interested in making your stay memorable. The views are inspirational....A little bit of Heaven. An added bonus is its majestic sunrises....You know how the saying goes, "It's great to be home?" It's not!!! Wish we were still there...Can't wait to go back again and again.....
Pros: I only gave 4 stars for location (through no fault of their own) because it's in the middle of nowhere. But fortunately the middle of nowhere is well worth the drive in this case.

Pros: nice spacious rooms
Cons: bfast not included
Pros: The breakfast was very good and there was plenty. The restaurant staff were freindly and service was excellent. The local daily paper was complimentary and the location of the hotel was right in the center of town, walking distance to Mass MoCa and plenty of dining opportunities.
Cons: The room given was a handicap accessible room which was located obove the air handlers for the restaurant and pool so it was a bit noisy. The large door slammed loudly if you didn't catch it, and hit on the security latch making additional noise.
Pros: Great location, in town centre. Rooms are quite spacious, a bit outdated, but clean (= most important). It has a small pool. Great a la carte breakfast (so no breakfast buffet). We had a nice stay.
Pros: The bed. The ac. The parking
Pros: The rooms are clean and the furnishings are new. The complimentary buffet breakfast is nice though it was quite crowded as I believe the hotel was sold out the night we stayed.
Cons: The walls are a little thin so you can hear the voices of other guests at times.
Cons: not their fault as I wished to shorten stay by a day. Just paid for it!!
Pros: Spacious, comfortable, nicely furnished rooms with Fridge and Microwave.
Cons: After-wedding guests next door had party in room starting 10pm - finally had to call front desk around midnight to get any sleep. No breakfast service in restaurant in a.m. - also seemingly due to wedding party.
Pros: The location is excellent. We used this as our base to hike the Savoy forest and Mt. Greylock. In the past we have used it as our base to visit MASS MOCA and The Clark.
Cons: The air conditioner in the room was incredibly loud and turned on and off every ten minutes which made it difficult to fall asleep. Also you can not open the windows in the rooms which makes the air in the rooms very stuffy.
Pros: Very friendly & responsive staff. We have just completed a 12 day road trip; stayed in 5 different hotels/motels. Staff at Holiday Inn Berkshires was by FAR the most friendly & entertaining; Good service; great pool facility; good food. Would do it again!
Pros: Location; very close to the MoCA’s Bang on the Can music festival
Pros: Fast service. Outstanding breakfast.
Cons: the ice machine was outside our door and made incredible loud when running.
Pros: Staff was very friendly & accomodating. Breakfast was great
