Fabulous hotel, I would say the best I have ever stayed in. And though it's expensive for Hanoi, you would pay an awful lot more for a hotel of this quality in another country
The hotel is advertised as being the oldest and fanciest hotel in Hanoi. We splurged and booked a room for one night with a small child. When we arrived, we were told that we would not have a room in the original hotel but would be given a room in the new addition. We needed to pay an extra 60 dollars to stay in the original section. They should make this policy clear to potential guests. We also requested a rollaway bed and they stuck it in the very tight living room, which was about 5 ft wide. The staff at the pool restaurant got our orders wrong--forgot my sons drink, and brought my husband the wrong beer
The hotel decor is attractive; even the new wing feels very traditional. The bed was very comfortable and the staff were very friendly.
The bed was very comfy The hotel never received my booking via booking.com and this caused me many problems. The staff helped and contacted yourselves but they had no record of my booking despite me having confirmation from your site. Also the shower continually leaked and this was an issue.
The stalfs are very helpfull and the room is really clean Lobby too small and is very noisy when there is lots of people in the lobby
Truely excellent colonial hotel. Service and facilities are superb.
it takes you back in time - luxurious. they charge $5 USD to use the internet and $1USD to photocopy a page - for a hotel of this standard these should be free.
Luxury rooms, pleasant bar and swimming pool, good fitness centre and spa, attentive staff, helpful staff
The service was wonderful, our room (in the old wing) was very romantic and comfortable. Food was lovely and the hotel has an excellent location in the French Quarter. Hanoi is small and it's only a 10 minute walk to the Old Quarter as well. The only thing that was a very small disappointment was that they took our towels away for laundry even though they instruct us to hang them up (which we did) to save on washing for environmental reasons.
The concept of two hotels in one was wonderful and it was a pleasure to see the ladies in their beautiful Ao Dai traditional dresses. Concierge services were very effecient and the hotel arranged all kinds of transport- rickshaw rides, taxis etc were easily arranged. On my last morning I stopped to eat breakfast at one of the restaurants and ordered pancakes ...and was quite taken aback to see both the poor quality and presentation of a basic breakfast item. The other thing i would like to point out is that a steward named Toh near the pool offered to arrange a car for us to a trip to the nearby villages- he said the hotel was Ok with him doing this service. The driver who drove us to the villages was constantly talking on the cell phone and driving single handedly which made us very uncomfortable. He also didnt know the roads. He was supposed to drop us to the airport the next morning and he didnt show up! I would recommend the hotel discourage their staff from offering such services.
We stayed here for a night splurge to end our trip in Vietnam and it was well worth it. Not cheap (certainly by Vietnamese standards) but very, very comfortable. Everything you'd expect from a high-end hotel.
Feeling of french colonialism.
The hotel is much better than what you think out og the information provided online (maybe it was recently remodeled). The decorations is excellent, very clean and new and it couldn't be better located: right in the middle of the night market and 2 minutes walk from the water muppet theatre!
Great location & clean
We stayed in a Junior room, which was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Definitely value for money! Location is absolutely great. After one night we wanted to extend our stay with one more night, however our room was already booked by someone else, when we requested to see a different room, we caught hotel staff sleeping in a room. They did not clean the room and tried to put us in that room... Of course we left after this incident.
The beds and the toilets were clean when we checked in. The rooms were clean and the room was spacious enough. A couple of points: 1) The lights in the room are not bright enough. 2) We asked for a double bed room, but then the hotel gave us one single bed each in the room and when asking them to change this, they told us that there are no more rooms available with king size bed.
i enjoyed the convenience of the hotel and it was a pleasant room to return to after a busy day in town. our room had very little natural light not a problem in the evening.
I like the internet and breakfast included in the price. The staff always very friendly in a natural way. A very comfortable hotel with a/c and a nice shower in the heart of the city. The daily complimentary fruits was also a nice touch.
Good price and comfortable room I paid with a credit card and was told at checkout there was a 3% charge for using credit card. I told the lady on the front desk that they need to tell their customers this and have a sign on their registration desk, in full view of the cutomers. She agreed with me. I hope they do this
Everything was fine, really nice terrace on top fl. (but the bar was closed). Friendly and helpful staff. Great location!
A newly renovated hotel opened in early 2008 in the fascinating and hectic Old Quarter. It has some beautiful designer bedrooms with equally stylish ensuite bathrooms. I had a City View Room at the rear, which was spacious and very quiet. The staff all spoke English to some extent and were extremely friendly and helpful. Will definitely choose it again for my next vist to Hanoi.
Even if we have booked a deluxe room (just to be in the safe side) there was a small window in .. nowhere. thus we paid an extra 30$/night for the superior which was very good but too expensive!!! There was no double glasses in the window and it was a little noisy.
