For the first time in a very long time, this hotel ticked all the boxes, clean, modern, helpful staff offering an individual service. Nothing, all good.
everything was pretty much perfect! comfort, service, cleanliness and informtion....all faultless. food was a little too expensive and delivery charge for room service is totally unnecessary!
The service and the swimming pool facilities i.e. sauna and steam room. Also the included parking was a bonus and the breakfast was lovely. Extremely good value for money
Lovely environment, great breakfast None really
Close location to football stadium, very good service from the staff. Food was excellent. I received a letter to inform me £3.95 had been charged to my credit card for mineral water I had consumed in my room, which I never had and will ring Reading Hilton to let them know.
Friendly staff. Very professional and accommodating. Room was done to high standards. Good value for money
The staff were very attentive. Nothing was too much trouble especially the chef in the morning when we were having trouble with the pancake machine. The rooms were clean and large and the Housekeeping staff did a good job. The fact that you are charged so much for everything!! The food was really pricey although very nice. The internet charge is high. The bar prices were high. It was just so reasonable to stay but because of the expensive additions it made the price not so attractive in the end!! I would recommend the hotel but only for a one off treat!!
Very good room & good, albeit expensive, food. The 'Active' listing says parking is free. It is not; it is an expensive underground car park. Fortunately parking is free on the streets adjacent. Hopefully the local council won't, in future, shove double yellow lines everywhere?
I loved this hotel and would like to return in the near future.
Good pool area Expensive drinks in the bar
Being able to park my motorcycle and leave it there for the day
location room appeared to be geared for a lone businessman not a couple and certainly not a female - no plug socket by a mirror.
Good value for money
First class Everything perfect
It was cheap, friendly, had a interesting labyrinth of old corridors and is in the centre of Reading. Slightly shabby and my room smelt of stale smoke.
Convenient for local facilities The room we had overlooked the main street and was rather noisy because of revellers from the aforementioned local facilities but you can't have it all ways
Stayed one night, decent and comfortable hotel. Value for the money
Went Christmas shopping with a friend. A great location for Shops and a night out.
very good central location
Fantastic staff Would have been useful to know that their restaurant was not open over the weekend - not really a problem as plenty of places to eat locally but was a shock when we arrived as we usually eat in the hotel on day of arrival as usually don't have time to explore.
Views from dining room. Quiet, peaceful location. Disappointed with quality of cooked breakfast.
The beds and the waitress was very helpful I have complained already: the cold showers, the meals, the lack of english speaking staff
Smell of smoke in non smoking room, room above unloading point for service vehicles, barrels delivered at 0730. Food poor in presentation and choice, same limited menu each night
staff help for routes to cain manor wedding and early book-in help
the location and the peacefullness of the place we never had hot water which was so dissappointing
rooom very comfortable, and the food very good. Forgot to bring swimming costume, would have liked to use the pool, looked lovely.
The breakast room has views of the pond. That was very special. For the price the faciities were poor
Going for walks around the lakes. The quality of the food for dinner was excellent, but spoiled by having to eat alone in a side room behind reception. That we were unaware till arrival that the hotel had large weddings for both of the evenings we had booked.
Location, The choice to upgrade to a quiet room The decor too modern and lacking in charm, small swimming pool
The hotel was 1st class, food was good, staff very helpful,be aware that room 19 the room we were in is close to the railway line so can be noisy.
position right in the middle of pangbourne room was clean comfortable bed not 24/7 reception below the average breakfast
Staff and management were very good and were very helpful, which made it a pleasure to stay at The George.
Clean, easy - nice spot. Make sure you sort out your key during business hours. Closes early and you can still get through but better to make sure it's sorted before getting there, if you're arriving late.
staff went the extra mile to sort out the accomodation when our reservation details were mis-laid due to a transisition period between staff. pastries not always available (2 out of 3 days). Shower in some rooms didn't have adequate hot water.
Hotel was very close to where we needed to be for a wedding Very close to train track
The ambiance of the hotel The rooms were compact, a second chair would have been useful
Good location in centre of village. Staff friendly and helpful. Reasonable price. Public bar nice to relax in. Close to railway line, and double glazing did not close. For rooms above the stables, walls were thin - could hear other guest snoring. Hotel undergoing renovation, so looked tired.
we had a very comfortable overnight stay at the hotel with an excellent breakfast, served by very efficient and polite staff. The arrival at reception was of the same quality. We will use the hotel again when visiting family who live in Chineham.
The quality of the room The reception. One the two occasions l visited (one on arrival), only one person was on the desk and on the phone for a good 5-10 minutes whislst l was waiting to be seen to. What if there was to be more than just l waiting?
Consistent service, comfortable rooms and good variety of food None
Comfortable bed. Very helpful and friendly staff
Pool area Extortionate drinks prices.!
On the maps.google.com is reported wrong position of the hotel. On hotel web page is it ok, of course.
Pool, gym & tennis courts Restaurant was closed without prior warning. No refrigerator in room Bed sheets were rough enough to cause skin reddening. Small beds
Use of the leisure club is a real bonus No - its a good, comfortable business hotel
We were there for my daughters wedding which went off without a hitch thanks to the organisation of the hotel staff. The rooms, breakfast, leisure facilities added to make it a great time.
the breakfasts, the pool facilities although jazussi out of action when we were there
location location location for my HQ office
What a fantastic hotel. Service was brilliant. Check in available at 10.30am. Taxi booked prior to arrival and easy check - out. The breakfast was tasty and plentiful. The nightclub was very lively and busy. Room was spacious and comfortable. L'occitane toiletries too! Overall a pleasant stay.
Friendliness and Value for money Shared bathroom
Friendly and helpful staff.
The staff were extremely helpful, informative and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable, great value for money.
The way we were received and the quality of freshly cooked breakfast No en-suite facility
Very friendly helpful staff. Fantastic proper cotton sheets and good bed. Showers in the room. Breakfast was plain, although I had indicated food allergies in the booking this was not catered for - at least they could have sent an email saying bring your own. Coffee, as usual in UK, more like water. To be aware of: no toilets in the room.
The guesthouse was ideally located for my trip. The landlady was friendly and provided me with safe storage for my bicycle.
friendly staff not full en-suite facilities, would have prefered full en-suite
Very clean, free internet, friendly owners, value for money and a good breakfast Only 5 tv channels
Guest house is located close to the University of Reading (Whiteknights campus) and various shops (grocery stores, take-aways, laundrette), and on bus route to city centre. Staff was helpful. WiFi worked very well. Information in the website is misleading. It's not true that "each bedroom has shower facilities". Some rooms don't have a shower, and toilets are outside the rooms. Carpet in the room was not properly cleaned. Breakfast was very basic; no fruit, poor coffee.
the hotel was very quiet and very clean.
value for money some of the other guests were very noisy and did not consider others around them
the food I chose the hotel as it advertised wifi. unfortunately this was not available in my room, only in the bar
The duty manager during the first part of our stay(Steve) was absolutely fantastic. He would make a good manager at a five star hotel.
comfy bed and choice of tv channels Attitude of receptionist when I requested food service
I am wheat and lactose intolerant and the staff were incredibly accomodating to assist me. It was a shame I couldn't eat more because the food looked amazing! Nothing, however I would make sure I booked a double bed in future.
Very pleasant staff. Good size room with good quality fittings.
Room was very comfortable Quite noisey due to young "student Types" staying.
very clean and staff very friendly
Staff very friendly and helpful, Bedroom was small for a double - no real space. Bathroom was large by comparison. Bedroom needed more thougt on layout.
The Hotel was ok, room was nice and big. There was a large tear in the Curtains, a minor point but you did ask!!!!
The adjoining pub/restaurant served a great breakfast and evening meals were good. Service was excellent ! Some road noise and door banging late at night. Double bed was comfy but the single beds were not.
It was acceptably clean and the room was a nice size for a family room. Yes, they had closed the restaurant for refurbishment, and pne of the main reasons we booked this particular hotel was because it had a restaurant next door where we could have dinner and breakfast as we were arriving late and leaving early.
Could not get drink after 11pm as being residents we thought that this would have been avaible. Disappointed at the bar service as we were in a private room for about 50 guest and the bar in the room was not in operation
Friendly welcome and comfortable room.
Room clean, plenty of hot water and tea making facilities. Room very noisy from traffic outside, couldn't open a window when the room because of the traffic noise. Should be a choice of duvet or blankets because some people don't like duvets.
very slow service in restaurant & booking in
Cleanliness, friendly and helpful staff We were in a quad room and the fourth bed was a made up mattress on the floor which we found unsatisfactory.
The hotel it self was quite good, clean and the staff good. Tv was a waste of time frozen picture on every channel. The food in the Brewers Fayre the first night was a disgrace. The Cheesy Cobbler I had was very poor hard as a rock bun and no cheese. My wifes Scampi were very poor almost burnt.
The comfort of the beds
The hotel receptionist on checking out was so cheerful and kind helping us with directions to where we were meeting up with friends.; She could not have been more cheerful.
Very warm welcome. Service excellent.
The staff were excellent, both polite and efficient. The pre booked room was located immediately and the access given with minimum of waiting time. Having seen adverts fr a room at £29 it was a shame that my single room was over £60 possibly due to lack of detail on the booking web site.
Clean room even extra pillows provided. all staff pleasant and helpful. breakfast excellent.
Staff very helpful hotel and room clean
comfort of the bed no shelf in bathroom - bed right up against the wall - no hair drier - window outlook 'none', sorry outlook was the roof only.
My colleague Julie Warren stayed at Highfield Park - it is now her hotel of choice when she is here on business.
noise from next door at 230 am told night staff and he had a word
Hotel was in a very good location for where I needed to be for business. The food is very good and the scenary is fantastic. With the hotel having some accomodation away from the main block (150m) and no cover, you need to make sure you have an umbrella with you. The Hotel didnt supply enough to the 41 rooms in the stable block where I was staying and I only found that out when I arrived there and it was pouring down.
comfortable, pleasant surroundings, friendly staff and good value for money food nothing
Friendly hotel, modern decor, very comfortable room. Relaxed atmosphere. Easy to find. Lack of information supplied at check in E.g directions to rooms, bar etc. Many rooms are not in the main building - not advised at time of booking.
High quality hotel at very reasonable rates. Good meal in restaurant. Signage from car park made finding reception difficult.
Beautiful historical environment. Well renovatie facility. Extra charge for credit card payment.
Location The facilities available (gym etc) were at a different hotel which wasnt convenient, also No shower in the room only bath with shower head attachment.
Excellent room. Modern decor. Spotlessly clean. Free wifi. Quiet country location. Paperthin walls meant I could hear everything from the room next door. Not nice when the occupant threw up.
Very clean. Excellent facilities in room could not have asked for more, felt like home from home. Up to date decor throughout. The owners were very, very pleasant and aimed to please whatever the request. Family friendly. A1++++++ Excellent, highly recommended. No.
A good price for a room in this area In effect you are renting a room, there are no common areas and breakfast is bought to your room or taken from the large domestic fridge in the room. Tiny bathroom and no bedside tables. A definate case of paying for what you get, which is not a lot
The warm welcome and the freshly prepared breakfast!
You can listen the sounds from other rooms
Cosy placee, very nice family run hotel. The only problem I have because of the hotel has no restaurant and it was impossible to find a place to have dinner.
The presentation and cleanliness of the accommodation and the friendliness and hospitality of Arty and Bobby were fantastic. I would recommend a stay at Lyndrick House to anyone wanting to be away from the hustle and bustle of London, yet close enough to "pop in" for the day.
very welcoming, we travelled very late and didnt get there to after midnight, this was not a problem for them and made sure we had safe access to our room. breakfast was lovely and delivered to our room. A jug of milk supplied in the in room fridge made sure we had a cup of tea when first arrived and in the morning. Room and bedding was spotless couldn't ask for any more!
Good Staff, very welcoming. Room very nice and clean. Fridge with Orange Juice, MIlk, Water etc all provided. Hot Danish in roon for breakfast - excellent.
Very quiet and very good value for money Will be staying again next year.
Comfortable clean bed Room very dusty, breakfast on cold plates and poor service, inadequate lighting in room for make up etc. general staff helpful
The rooms were quite large and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. A full English Breakfast was included in the price and I was surprised that you could choose from the menu if you didnt want this, which was great, plus you could help yourself to cereal, fruit, pastries and muffins etc if you wanted. Although the rooms were big, the heating didnt appear to be on, so the room felt quite cold, it probably didnt help that the windows are quite old and probably need replacing.
Excellent Clean and tidy hotel
Helpful staff and good parking
Price and overall VFM.
Double room was large, clean and comfortable. Liked the in-room ironing facilities and mini hi-fi. Good value at the on-line rate. Creaky floorboards can make for a noisy night. Some of the decor is tired.. Food ordered at the bar was disappointing.
The hotel was grubby and needs refurbishment Although the staff were very good the food was poor.
Good size of room good T making facilities and stereo was nice touch
Good selection of food on menu Room was basic
I came, i slept, i left!! Breakfast was not fresh but dry and pre cooked.
Good location, friendly staff. Price and facilities were great for an overnight stay.
Free WiFi access was a great plus point and steered me towards making a booking at this hotel. Car parking was very restricted.
Good clean rooms, good continetal breakfast, excellent value for money, helpful staff
can not disclose ;0) heating not on so was quite cold and the breakfast was a bit miss mash and did not have a lot of choice and although continental not much offering in the way of pastry.
Nice approach of the staff None
the staff were great. It was a festival weekend so heavily booked. Basics ok
Room was good aa was the price Only Continental breakfast at weekend
The politeness of the staff, and the comfort overall
I was most impressed about the quality of room I stayed in and will definitely like to repeat the experience in the future Not applicable
Value for money option, way above standard for others of a similar proce bracket. Excellent breakfast. Friendy staff. Room was clean though a little dusty. The roof eaves ran through our bathroom so showering was a challnge. The only fault is trying to find the hotel. The navigation information provided is incorrect.
internet access in rooms, very friendly
only 1 night B&B for family party nearby but could have stayed longer as the Hotel was comfortable and staff very pleasant We have no complaints whatsoever
This hotel is in a quiet location. The room was contemporary styled, very clean and comfortable. There is plenty of onsite parking. Breakfast was fine and there is a good range of options. We booked two double rooms, one for single use, and they were both very good. There is nothing really not to like about this hotel based on our experience.
cleanliness + the room + the breakfast. food - rip off fish pie fancy food on paper - looked like a bird eye meal for one. the selectionof mixwd veg was simply frozen mixd veg. while waiting a long time for it i was reassured by a waiter as though it was complicated dish to assemble and took time - i think he meant the defrosting!on the plus they really seemed to listen to my complaint as i recounted it in the morning
Breakfast service was very quick and there was a wide range of hot food which was cooked very well. bedding
Very clean and comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast and friendly staff. Good size safe parking on site.
thin partition between rooms
Quiet location, Very comfortable room and beds, Very clean, good breakfast. Altogether an excellent small hotel.
leafy location, executive room opened straight onto the garden, luxury modern en-suite, caring staff, lots of choice at breakfast, comfortable bed small choice of evening meal menu, not sure about having to walk around the garden to get to the reception and restaurant area
The Hotel was really cosy & comfortable. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. The meal we had was very good. No
good country location and relaxing atmosphere had to pass conference rooms with tables and other items in corridor to our room .We were not impressed !
As it was Ascott weekend i did not like the Restaurant set menu at 45pounds and we had no choice to but to eat from this menu as there was nothing round about us and the weather was dreadfull.
receptionist couldnt give directions when I got lost. Thought the bar food was rather expensive and they were going to charge me for a cup of coffee in the morning having just spent £150!! Room far too hot
it was very relaxing and quiet which we liked also not lots of children as it was a romantic break evening meal was excellent a little expensive but very nice. yes the only thing was breakfast we had full english it was horrible cold and not cooked very well obviously not the same chef as at night that would be the only thing
Fabulous grounds Varying levels of service from staff. Some went out of their way to be helpful, others gave the impression they were doing you a favour. In a way the hotel is living on it's reputation as a scenic venue rather than offering 4* service.
Great setting and old world feel to hotel. Very disappointed with our upgraded room for value for money though. Was it really a deluxe room?? Room was poor.
Rooms spacious and breakfats good. No air conditioning and noisy. Other guests kep us awake until the early hours with conversations in the corridor andin the next room. Could almost hear every word of latter. Insufficient noise in sulation for a prestige hotel.
Our visit clashed with a couple of wedding parties but despite being extremely busy service was excellect, staff were delightful No grounds for complaint
The staff were very pleasant. The corridors leading to the room were old and shabby, the carpet was rank! An old sofa on the landing added to the general worry of what to expect when we got to the room. This was in contrast to the dining room and lounge which were very well presented. In addition, the room was adequate although the en-suite had serious mould in three corners - very off-putting.
very relaing stay, friendly staff willing to take time to have general conversation. Sunday morning breakfast served until 12 o clock midday - the ultimate lazy sunday morning. Well done Royal Berkshire
Getting away from my kids for the night!
Best Western have never disappointed us, in France UK or USA always clean great staff and food. Much better than other chains.
Excellent price but with superb standard of accomodation, 10 minutes away from Thames Vally Park, (my ultimate destination). There's also a great pub right nexr doot!
convenience and location breakfast was plentiful but tasteless
real good value, nice location.
excellent value for breakfast at £10 for two
The room was superb All good except they had no record of my booking!
Pleasant staff, very comfortable bed, good breakfast - had plenty of choice and was all well cooked. Helpful receptionist. Room service slightly expensive but quite prompt and you got what you ordered.
Well run, courteous staff, clean and comfortable room. Very good breakfast. Nothing
I arrived at 3.30pm and the rooms were not ready (clean) so had to wait until 4.30pm before the first rrom was ready and you should be able to check in from 2pm. This was due to a big wedding party checking in aswell so on the whole is was dealt with well.
location. Ease of parking. Room very quiet Dinner a little expensive, breakfast far too expensive to buy
Food was good but breakfast very overpriced at £17 a head. Room and service good.
Excellent location for our needs. A very well maintained and decorated hotel. Around £40 per night cheaper than I would have expected for such a hotel.
The hotel was clean and comfortable. We stayed at a weekend and the entrance to the Hotel is bizarre, coming up from the car park the metal grill is across the entrance and you have to go outside to get it. Two of the staff were particularly helpful, but generally they were uncommunicative and unapproachable. The breakfast is extortionate at £17.50 for continental or cooked. The continental option choice is limited and certainly not worth £17.50. We attended an event at a local golf club and were able to purchase a freshly cooked english breakfast for £6.50.
excellent location, very good service breakfast was a little pricey
Clean - excellent facilities - staff helpful polite and friendly.
Proximity to most things The bath/shower could do with a tidy-up structurally. Looking a bit tired.
Our room was clean and comfortable and the hotel was handy for Ascot. A foreign girl at reception came across as rude and somewhat aggressive, perhaps unintentionally. The cleaning staff were rather persistant on Monday morning.
Nice to have stayed in a four star hotel that was worth four stars Beer flat
Convenience The asking price for a full breakfast was daylight robbery. Even your staff told where to go to get a cheap breakfast. We were on holiday and on a set budget.
Customer service was very good. The television in the courtyard was blarring out about the football; it was turned off when I asked for it to be. Being an old building the floor sloped badly in my room and there was no heating in the bathroom. My single room was small and for £89 a night it wasn't good value. On top of that I had to pay £7+ for broadband connection. No wifi in the room.
Friendly staff, clean comfortable room, wonderful huge bath! No lift, but staff helped with luggage
The guy on reception was very friendly and helpful Noise from the traffic in the early hours
Convenience as we were attending a local wedding Breakfast was very poor - white bread, poor marmalade, stewed coffee etc
Location and friendly staff Nothing of note
Have stayed here before, quiet hotel even though in the centre of Reading. Room was large with confortable bed. plenty o
